Disclaimer: Gundam Wing and its characters do not belong to me! I weep! As much as I wish they did, they don't. So don't sue! All you'll get is a pack of gum. Yum… gum…
Swirling dust motes floated lazily through the air, dancing upon the morning sun's first rays before eventually falling, disappearing into the large expanse of fluffy cream-colored carpet. The golden sunshine, warm and soothing, beamed down at the large feather bed, where two young men lay in each other's arms, sleeping peacefully.
A pair of cobalt eyes cracked open as their owner woke up. Yawning, Duo Maxwell sat up and blinked blearily repeatedly in succession, trying to clear his sleep fogged eyes. Rubbing at his eyes with the back of his hand, he bore a striking resemblance to a sleep kitten. Impatiently flicking back a few stray bangs, he looked around, a smile slowly spreading across his heart-shaped face at the scene meeting his eyes.
The gaze of his cobalt orbs fell on another's face, still sleeping peacefully beside him. For once, a scowl did not decorate his otherwise remarkably handsome features; instead, a small, shy smile in its place. Chuckling softly, Duo lay back down on his side, comfortably resting his face on his palm. He reached out with his free hand to brush away some irritating bangs from obscuring his view.
At the gentle touch of his hand, two Prussian eyes snapped open, instantly alert and awake. They fixed on Duo's face, who gazed back at intently. After a few seconds of staring, Duo broke the silence by clearing his throat. With a small smile, he greeted the boy softly. "'Mornin'…"
"'Morning…"
Duo shivered delightfully, a chill running down his spine, at the sound of his lover's voice: soft, husky, and headily sensual. He snuggled up against the other's chest, warm and solid, basking in the strength and comfort of Heero's arms.
"Sleep well?" he asked, voice muffled into the other's chest.
"Aah."
Giggling slightly at the simple reply, Duo looked up into dark blue eyes, staring intently at him. After a moment, they softened, and smiling, Duo rest his head on Heero's chest once more. Absentmindedly, Heero began to stroke the curtain of chestnut silk fanned about the smaller boy, loosened from its customary braid from a night of rest. A small smile broke through and curved his lips at the sound of Duo purring in contentment.
They stayed like this a little longer, comfortable and safe, not knowing that Hell was slowly, silently, carefully creeping its away into their lives, one day at a time…
