watching a rerun of The Ties That Blind.

Andromeda Ascendant Observation Deck 20:30:00 hours
Tyr Anasazi still sat in the obs deck, staring sullenly at his now bare forearms. Dylan had long since left him there to think in private. The swooshing sound of the doors opening captured his attention.
Trance Gemini walked in and smiled briefly. "Sorry Tyr, I didn't know you were here," she said. Tyr merely grunted in response. "I just came for a walk but I can leave it you want." her voice trailed off. When he didn't reply she rolled her eyes and turned to leave.
"Do you remember," he started quietly, in that sullen voice he had, causing her to stop and listen. "When I taught you to fly in the Slipstream?"
Trance smiled and turned to face him. "Yea, back in my purple days of butterflies and rainbows," Tyr smiled at that. "I'll have you know that I can now navigate Slipstream just as well as you, but," she sighed. "Not as good as Beka.yet!"
Tyr nodded to her. "Do you remember when you tried to teach me to fight?" Trance smiled, walking back towards him. "Those bone spears hurt when they poke you!"
Tyr laughed out loud. "I can still take you down, girl. Bone spears or no bone spears."
Trance stood in front of him determined. "We'll lets see about that," she put her hands on her hips, a hint of her old stubborn self shining through. "Let's go!"
Tyr smirked.
They moved over to the mat that the crew used for sparring and took their defensive positions. "Tell me girl," Tyr began mockingly. "When did you learn to fight? As I recall, all you could seem to do was this pathetic little summersault thing. You couldn't throw a punch or kick to save your little purple head!"
"You forget Tyr," she said as she nailed him with a swift right kick to the chest that sent him reeling back, but still on his feet. "I'm not purple anymore."
"Indeed," he replied thoughtfully. "Just fight, girl." Trance smiled and threw a punch to him, which he blocked.
They continued sparring for a few minutes, each throwing and blocking punches, and kicks. Trance landed a roundhouse to the side of his head, causing him to stumble again. He retaliated by swiping her feet from under her, only to have Trance use the momentum to flip backwards into the air and land on her feet again.
"Impressive," Tyr exclaimed honestly. Trance smirked and proceeds with another roundhouse, but this time, he was ready for it. He grabbed her leg around the ankle and used her spinning momentum to pull her down. She landed with a thud on the mat.
"Looks like I win," Tyr laughed down to her, her mock scowl settling into place on her face.
With another smirk, she rolled forwards into a summersault, towards his feet in an exact copy of her actions almost two years earlier. Tyr stumbled forward over her and landed on the mat as she sprung to her feet.
"Looks like we're even," she laughed to him.
Tyr smiled. "Hee haw, girl." She laughed too and they both took their positions again.
From the doorway, Harper watched unnoticed, smiling every time his Trance took down the big and not-quite-so-scary Nietzschean.
End.
