Notes: Throughout the course of Skies of Arcadia, you fight Valua virtually from start to finish- but the only faces you see are those of the high ranking people, theirs the only names you know. What about the many guards and soldiers you kill along the way? They all had to come from somewhere...

-=The Nameless Soldiers=-

Many people have wondered why so many were willing to fight for Valua. Some claim we had been lied to, others claimed all Valuans are cruel and harsh.... The simple truth is we had no choice. They did not force us to fight- they did not need to. They needed only to threaten to send us home. Send us back to Lower Valua, to waste away with the rest of the garbage.

None of us joined in hopes of finding a glorious conquest to increase Valua's power, to fight a war, or even to gain a high rank. We simply wanted out. Out of Lower Valua, and money we could put aside for our families. When we had enough- we all had dreams we wanted to persue. Maybe some of us wanted to be merchants...others, explorers with a ship to call their home, sailing under the blue, open skies of Arcadia.

We all had dreams- and nearly all our dreams failed. We knew this would happen..we lamented it- but that faint hope...that one glittering goal so far out of our reach was enough to keep us trying. Enough to keep us fighting and obeying, praying for some chance at a better life to befall us. We manned the ships, conquered lands both near and forgien...We fought Blue Rogue and Black Pirate alike.

One would think the Blue Rogues, in their high and mighty morals, would understand the situation we were in. But of course they didn't. We are Valuan soldiers- by donning that armor and name, we lost our faces and our proper names. When we died or when our ships' treasures were taken- did the Blue Rogues think it's really Valua that suffered? Hardly so...we were the ones who did, and our families. Pay withheld until most of the value of the taken items is paid for took food from the mouths of our family, and said family lost what shelter they had when they could no longer pay for it.

No one could afford to give charity in Lower Valua. And when we died...our dreams, our families died with us. Worked to death, starving to death in that filth.. that was the only legacy we had to leave our children. But we were just obstacles to such as the Rogues and their newest "hero", pawns to such as the Admirals- to be killed for doing the only job we could with hopes of escape.

After all- what were we but no one worthy of being known, or being cared about? We were simply the nameless soldiers of evil Valua, and nothing more....even after we died.
