Emotions
1. Love Story
By Jordi Sharpe
Love is a strange word. A strange thing. One of the strangest things. It confuses many. No one knows what its meaning is.
And maybe no one will.
It strikes the human race as a pleasurable feeling. A tingle of the senses.
To the Andalite race, it is a symbol of trust and honor. A hope in itself.
To the Hork-Bajir race, it is a gift from one to another. A gift for all to enjoy.
But not all races have love.
The Yeerks dismiss love as a waste of time. Every once in a while, a Yeerk will succumb to the pleasure.
Helmacrons cannot love, for it would be wrong to love an inferior creature. Their emperor would destroy them if they gave in.
The Howlers know only death, and carnage. Destruction. And the pain, anger and hate they inflict upon a race.
For humans, love is essential. It comes in many forms. A mother and father's love, a child's love, a boy's love for a girl, and vice-versa. A husband's for a wife, and a wife's to a husband. These bring joy and happiness and wipe away sorrow and loneliness.
For the part human, part Andalite, and part hawk named Tobias, love is a sort of mystery. He had never felt it. Until before. When the one who could bring him love died before his eyes.
For the human Rachel, love is everywhere. From her family, to others in her city, to her closest friends. Ones who she fought beside for a long while.
And love exists because of those who use it.
And it's worth all the while.
