Author comments: Eek, I'm a little worried on how this will do. x.x; I'm
not terribly good at writing fics, but, I thought I'd go out on a limb and
submit. This is a *really* short piece I did one night whilst trying to
escape utter boredom. Anyway. It basically deals with one of my original
role-playing characters and her loving big brother. Yes, I know Draco is a
bit OOC in this. Oh yes, and I do not own Harry Potter or any of it's
characters. Just Invidia. Now read! ^^

Midnight Musings
"Draco.."
A whisper as soft as the coo of a dove woke the boy from his dreamless sleep, an already annoyed grunt of exhaustion heard as the somewhat lanky form propped upwards slightly with the support of an elbow. Bleary gaze immediately was settled upon a head of silken white-gold that was as fine and strait as his own, and eyes of the clearest blue peered widely up at him as thinned lips trembled, tears that threatened to fall gathering at an alarming rate.
Invidia.
Without so much as a questioning word he lifted the darkened blankets of forest green and stitched silver to allow a much smaller form climb in beside him. 'The thunder..' Draco tiredly mused while watching the child settle closely, thin little arms encircling his pajama clad frame tightly. He had become her wall of protection over the such troubled six years of her life, a voice of comfort even.. both only had each other to hold onto as teachings of insane evil and dark ways were thrusted at them.. sometimes violently, he'd be damned if he would let her be pulled into that.
"Goodnight, big brother.."
"Goodnight, Invidia.."
And so it goes, a boy who had lost hope long ago and a girl who had yet to. Wrapped in the serenity of the quieting night, Draco Malfoy coiled his arms around the last pillar of sanity he had left in this screwed up life and fell back into a more peaceful slumber, he would never let go.
