Author's notes:
A friend of mine suggested I write a story in which Haldir is a bit less violent and domineering, so this is my attempt at that. Amy, this one is for you. Hope you like it.

~An Unbounding Affair~

Halfway between nightfall and morn, the August wind blew crisp and sweet through Haldir's hair as he slept more soundly than in recent nights and for the first time in many months, he dreamt.

On the shoreline of a crystal lake he strode, seeking solitude in the aftermorning sunlight. The rippling emerald waves splashed along the grassy bank, whispering his name in their descent.

Across the lake, he saw him appear, in all his glory, almost seeming a figment of his imagination.
Tall and immense in size, Glorfindel stood and unfastened his cloak, lowering his hood so that his flowing golden hair fell down across his chest and past his waist. He knelt at the edge of the water and cupped his hands to quench his thirst in its depths, the silver leaf that adorned his neck, gleaming as it hung down upon his chest. The sight of him was tremendous, as Haldir watched him from across the water, but one blink from his Elven eye and he was gone.
Haldir lowered his head, the warmth of fingertips on his shoulder alerted him that all was well.
Glorfindel's eyes sparkled like frozen starlight and to gaze within their depths brought tears to Haldir's own.

I heard your thoughts upon the wind. He said, reaching out to Haldir. They called my name and I have come.
His long fingers swept across Haldir's skin, leaving behind a glowing blush, highlighting Haldir's pallid cheek.

Glorfindel! Haldir spoke his name and long after it had left his tongue, he longed to hear it again.
How long the hour has been that aches my soul for the warmth thine beauty casts upon mine face. and with charmed ascent he fell into Glorfindel's embrace, twisting around him like vines in the Golden Wood.
Each sweet breath met Haldir's senses and he inhaled deeply, drowning in the smell of Glorfindel's flesh and the feel of his hard body pressed tightly to him, desperate to taste the nectar that dripped from those honey sweet folds that glistened wet with desire. And when those lips befell his own, what agony it was to know that in time, the two must once again part. But for now, for this one painfully short moment, Glorfindel was there, intertwined within his arms, and not even death could lure him away.

Haldir mine, Glorfindel spoke softly into his awaiting ear. How it maddens my troubled heart to know it is forbidden to love you and that we must hide away in shame like thieves in the night.
Someday...one day, my dear Haldir...

Morning came too quickly, though and the wicked sun blazed from the Eastern hills and broke the spell that fell upon this dreamer's eye.
Haldir woke, trembling, the taste of his lover's kiss still fresh in his mind. Enfolded in his grasp was a token, a reminder to him that there truly would yet be a someday, hanging from his fingers...a silver leaf.
