AN Authors Notes: I do not own Glee or Superman. This is purely for fun.

The amount Superman myths will be used or followed very minimal. Birth, powers, and a few overlapping essentials will be it.

I know it's been FOREVER but here we are back at it again. I had a hard time getting back into Brittana after we lost Naya. I found my muse again. I am going to try and keep it going. I just want you all to know, I didn't forget about this story or about you all.

Chapter 15: Motherly Advice

Friday morning rolled around with less chaos than the last several days. Santana found her way home just a little after nine last night. She had finally convinced Brittany, she still had work to do and that her partner needed the rest. She reminded her that Dr. Cohen-Chang was going to see them in the morning, hopefully with enough information to keep Holly off their backs.

The brisk walk to Brittany's had put the heroine in a great mood. She felt like after their talk last night, that it was clear to her and Brittany both that slow was the way things were going to go.

Brittany looked much better this morning than yesterday. The color had returned to her face and she had a little bounce back in step. Considering Santana had to carrier her to bed two nights prior, things were looks up for the duo.

"Good morning, Britt," Santana said with a soft smile as the blonde swiped the fresh coffee out of her hand.

"Not sure so good to start. I slept terribly last night," She leaned over and kissed the brunette on the cheek, "It seems to be getting a bit better."

The hero didn't need her super hearing to hear the exhausted tone in Brittany's voice. She might have had some of her color back but she for sure wasn't at one hundred percent yet. She threw her hand up to flag a cab down. "We can make this quick and come back here and work if you feel like you can't make it all day. Holly will get over it."

Brittany was a little surprised with Santana's certainty of their boss's behavior. Either that, or Santana was just going to tell her they were working from home, which did bring a small flutter to Brittany's stomach. Santana was such a stickler for the rules but she was making her own today apparently. Just for Brittany's benefit as well. The ride to the lab was a quiet one, not just for the duo, but for all things super.

As promised they didn't have to wait long to see the doctor. She was with them almost exactly at 9 a.m.

"Thank you for taking the time to speak with us, Doctor. We have been trying to figure out what the thieves could be doing with all the stole equipment, but have no idea," Brittany lead the conversation as she took a seat across from the young doctor.

Santana followed her lead and looked across the desk to Tina and offered a smile. "I know we talked briefly over email. I also understand how busy you were with you conference. We really appreciate the help."

Tina offered them a small smile and pulled a few highlighted sheets of paper into view. "I wish I could be more help. But the things that have been stolen don't really have anything to do with each other. The good news is, I don't see any of these things being able to be weaponized."

"Do you know how much range the decoder has by chance?" Santana asked softly as she stopped taking her notes.

"The schematics say about ten yards." She pointed out a few highlighted items from the other robberies. "I don't know how much more range it can be maximized to. The other items could be used to turn it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to scramble slot machines or open some builds security with it to be honest. They could have taken something more dangerous since they seemed to have their operation to break into here pretty well thought out."

Brittany nodded and started tapping her pen to her thigh, "I doubt they would go straight after money. I feel like if they were going to do that, it would have been right after. Criminals usually like to keep a hot streak going."

The three chatted a little more before the doctor excused herself back to work. Brittany was mostly back to normal by the time they got to their desks at The Planet. Santana would have put money on it being the thrill of the hunt that was getting her blood going.

"So," Brittany paused slowly before putting her hand on Santana shoulders while standing behind her at her desk. "Do you have any idea what the hell could be happening?"

The shorter woman turned her head to the side a little to look at her partner. "I am curious about the elections coming up. Jessie St. James has been trying to get his hands on several pieces of property that the city won't give up to him. It's not zoned the way he wants it to be for business. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to mess with the council members to get a slime ball in there."

"OH my god! You're a genius, San," Brittany squeezed her shoulders lightly before heading back over to her computer. She cracked her fingers and started typing quickly, "We need all the research we can get on his proposals and reason they have been denied."

"It should be all available from the city website. I'll start on that if you want to run what we have found by Holly. Nothing is solid, but this seems to make the most sense." The heroine pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "Don't get the chief too excited about this. We don't need her trying the murder us."

Holly gave them permission to use whatever resources they needed to try and connect the thefts and Jessie St. James. She knew it would be a long shot. But she also trusted her two best reporters. She had seen talent in her years, but there was something about the two of them together. Brittany had been phenomenal on her own for several years, but pairing her with Santana was the best thing she had ever done.

So do you think they are really dating? I heard from one of the guys in accounting he saw them out to lunch together very romantic like a couple weeks ago. Sam whispered from across the room while at the vending machine.

Puck chimed in with no hesitation. Dude, I don't know. They seem to be even more in sync with each other than usual. The mohawked young man shook his hands a little as he got his snack as well. I saw Brittany set her coffee cup down a minute ago, before she could even get another one Santana was walking over with one. I really hope so. They would be SOO hot to catch making out somewhere.

Santana really wished she didn't have super hearing sometimes. Most of the time she tuned it all out, but when it was about either her or Brittany, she couldn't help it. She felt her face scrunch up and she held back an eye roll.

Brittany cleared her throat to get Santana's attention. The Kryptonian looked up at her quickly and raised her eyebrow, "What?"

"You need to learn to ignore them," She pushed her foot into Santana's under their ajoining desks. "I know they are talking about us. I can tell by that stupid look on Puck's face. Probably something perverted. But, ignore him."

"What makes you think I was paying attention to them?" She shrugged a little looking up from her computer to her partner.

"We have been working together long enough for me to know you notice things you not supposed to," she leaned across the desk and ran her fingers across the brunette's furrowed eyebrows. "You also have a big tell when you're annoyed. But I'll tell you a secret," She made sure the shorter woman was looking at her, "You scrunchy annoyed face is one of my favorites. I think you look so adorable when you do it. Especially when you think no one is paying attention."

Santana felt a slight blush come across her face, "You're not supposed to be paying attention to that."

"I guess that's what happens when an incredibly beautiful woman is sitting across from me," She winked a little and waved her hand. "I pay attention. I didn't just start noticing these things the last couple weeks Santana. I am an investigative journalist after all."

Santana was about to respond when she heard a cry for help, "I…" she paused for a second. What the hell was she going to say now this time…."I'm going to go city hall to get the blue prints for building on corner tenth and Cornwallace that St. James was looking into." As she walked she squeezed Brittany's hand, hoping the small gesture would get across the quickly exit wasn't about Brittany flirting.

Brittany was about to protest and say they could send an intern to do that, but Santana was practically already to the elevator by the time she was going to open her mouth.

Luckily the call for help was a quick breaking and entering. Santana sometimes thought she really should just listen to a scanner before leaving the office. That way she could help prioritize her need for involvement. Her super hearing was a blessing and a curse sometimes.

The weekend was uneventful for Brittany and Santana socially. Brittany still wasn't feeling great. Santana told her she needed to rest. But that didn't stop the brunette from bringing her lunch on Saturday.

The two sat comfortable on Brittany's couch together. Santana had her arm around Brittany's shoulder with the recovering girl leaning into her. The quiet was comfortable for them after such a long week.

Brittany grabbed Santana's hand softly and strated to play with her fingers, "You helped your parents growing up on a farm. You still rise so early in the day like it's built into your DNA," She paused for a second before pulling Santana's hand to her lips to kiss it softly. "How is your skin so perfect? I am kind of jealous of it."

The brunette let out a soft laugh, "I stopped working on the farm when I went to college. I guess the water at Penn State was super rich in minerals." She leaned over and kissed Brittany on the forehead. "I'm really glad you're starting to feel better. You had me worried, honey."

Brittany's heart still fluttered whenever Santana broke out the Honey when they were alone. She had been calling her friends that forever. But this was a totally different story. Santana wasn't usually the one to initiate.

"Me too," She looked up a little planting a soft kiss on Santana's lips. "Thank you for coming to the rescue again with lunch."

They mostly worked through the weekend. Found a few small leads for the St. James story, but mostly worked on small headlines. It was a slow news week, which didn't surprise Santana. With the break in at StarLabs, MPD was way more on alert. The week kind of melted away. Metropolis wasn't booming but the rest of the world had been.

By Tuesday, Brittany was feeling better and had asked Santana if she wanted to come over for take out and 'not work', since that's all they had seemed to be able to get done over the last week. Santana had initial agreed, but a high speed chase involving a stolen prison transport in Chicago derailed those plans. She told Brittany she was starting to feel a little under the weather. She felt bad for lying to her. It also almost took an act of Congress to convince Brittany she just needed sleep and didn't need to be taken care of.

Thursday rolled around and she was still extremely busy in the super side of her life. She did make it to her parents, but she didn't promise she would be there long. Smallville was always a calming point for her. It made her feel centered again. It was almost as good as flying close to the sun. Maybe that was it, maybe she was flying to close to the sun with Brittany.

The Superpowered woman let out a small sigh as she tried to explain everything to her mother about how quickly things with Brittany were changing.

"Mija, you are at the point where you need to decide what you want," She rubbed her daughter's arms up and down softly and kissed her forehead. "I know the change in your relationship is new. But you feelings for Brittany are not. You have been head over heels for that girl, since the day you met her. Maybe it's time to stop making excuses."

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to not tell her everyday? Especially when I fly in and save her?!" Santana sighed as she crossed her arms over the S on her chest. "Mami, I don't know what to do."

"Sweetheart, I think it's time for you to tell her. Brittany is such a big part of your life. Now that you're dating," the older woman offered a small smile and put her hand over her daughter's crossed arms. "It's even more important that you're honest."

"What if she hates me for lying to her for so long?" Santana took a small step back and ran her fingers through her hair, "I don't think I can take it if she doesn't want to be around me."

"What do you think is going to be worse," She paused for a second trying to put the phrasing delicately as to not hurt her daughter's feelings, "You keep making paper thin excuses to leave and seem unreliable. Which was make her feel like she's not a priority or you tell her the truth. That you care so much about her you want her to know ALL of you. The real you. The you only a handful of people know. I think the truth will be so meaningful to her she will understand."

"I just didn't think I would end up needing to tell her so soon," She knew her mother was right. Brittany was extremely important to her. She knew even if their relationship changed back to friendship for some unforeseen reason, having someone else she trusted was going to make her life easier. Her mother was right about something else. She was in love with Brittany Pierce.
