It was supposed to be the best Gundam ever created. With both firearms and
close-combat weapons, it was made with the efforts of all the colonies. Its
sole purpose was to retaliate against the Alliance and OZ, and it seemed
like the perfect plan at the time. Except for one problem. They needed
someone to pilot it. It took a lot of skill to maneuver it properly, and at
the same time manage the weapons. Even the best could not handle the RX99-
00JX, more widely known as the Jaguar X. Until one day.
Carefully peering over the edge of the wall, the girl looked up and down the halls, perking her ears. As soon as the faraway voices died down, she bolted from her hiding place. She ran easily, finding her way through the unfamiliar passages of the base. This wasn't exactly something she was good at, but the gang needed food. Finally, she came to a small, barely noticeable door labeled "Storage".
"Bingo. This might as well be easier than I thought." She whispered, taking out a small knife. Quickly, she cut the wires in the electronic lock, not making the slightest sound. But luck was obviously not on her side. Just as she stepped into the room, she heard the awful sound of failure. The alarm went off, wailing and echoing off the walls. Her stomach tightened as she ran as fast as her legs could carry her, not even bothering to pick up her knife. "Hey you! You stop right there!" She heard the guards' shouts behind her, and the clash of their guns. Then she felt herself hit something hard and fall backwards on the floor. Shaking her head, she saw a man in a white lab coat standing over her with a stern face. Behind her were three men armed with guns ready to fire. "I'll take care of this little thief myself. Return to your duties."
One of the guards switched off the alarm and left wit the rest. The lab coat man pulled her up and dragged her along. " I am no thief! Let me go, I didn't do anything!" the girl protested.
"That isn't for you to decide. Now, what's your name, child ?". She hesitated, "I.. My name is Neo. That's about all I know." The man stopped for a second, and finally looked at her face. She had bright, open green eyes and brownish-red hair that were cut short roughly. "Can you handle a gun?" he asked. "Yeah I can shoot." Neo said with a tone of an insult in her voice. "How about a shuttle?". She nodded for an answer. A very slight smile creased the old man's face. "Come on, you might be perfect." Neo ran after him. "Perfect for what? Really, I didn't do anything, I just wanted some food." They finally came to something of a control room. Neo came up to a big window, and gasped. "Think you can handle that, Neo?" She turned around to face the man. "W- ell, what is it?" "Jaguar X. Our secret weapon against earth. And I want you to pilot it." "N-no way, man, a mobile suit? But those are like super-secret fighting machines. Besides, why me?" She leaned closer to the huge window and pressed her hand against the cold glass. "Not just a mobile suit. A Gundam. And the best one ever created. maybe besides Wing Zero or Tallgeese. But that's not the point. If we don't have anyone to pilot it, we're not going to be able to make it. We're really desperate here, kid. How old are you?" "F-fourteen." "Perfect. So.do you agree or not?" Neo stood for a moment, thinking. It was a Gundam that killed her parents, long ago. Though she did not remember it clearly, it was fixed in her mind, a kind of longing and anger deep down. Well, anything is better than living on this war-torn little colony, she thought. Turning around, she faced the man. "I'll do it. But.I don't really know how."
