Welcome, everyone. I know others do something grand, adventurous and action-packed, but I just want to do something more down-to-earth with a few things that interest me. Anyway, without further adieu, enjoy and review.
Dolphin City
Lance Carter had never been much of one for the company of others, even in his hometown. Something of a loner, he had little friends and even then, he barely spent any time with them… Of course, with how much better looking they were than him, even with eyes that matched, one could say that Lance was a little self-conscious.
He was ruddy-skinned, his red hair short and curly and due to his heterochromia, his left eye was blue and his right eye green. He was square-jawed with a large, hooked nose and due to close-fitting lids, his eyes seemed small and triangular. Heterochromia aside, he was quite common-looking, at least that was what he thought. A lean boy, Lance had on more than one occasion been called "Chicken legs", much to his displeasure.
While his family oversaw the placement of their furniture in their new home, Lance walked through Dolphin City, wearing a red golf-shirt, swim trunks and black sandals and carrying a black towel. If he wanted to stop by the beach to take a swim, he was ready and given his affinity for the sea, he was ready and he had no doubt he would be feeling the allure of the deep just as often as he had back home.
Passing by a store selling comics, he stopped the moment something caught his eye. It was a hardcover, digitally restored copy of the first issue of "Marvel Comics" with bold, proud letters proclaiming: "Marvel Comics Re-Presents:" The Human Torch, the Angel, Masked Raider, Ka-Zar the Great and most notable of all, the Sub-Mariner himself: Namor.
If Lance could had been capable of whistling, he would have. His dad would love that! It was thanks to his parents that he had an affinity for the sea and his dad been a fan of characters such as Namor and Aquaman had been one of the contributors.
The price was not bad. One fifteen dollars… If only he hadn't left his wallet at home.
Sighing, Lance slumped a bit. Something that good would probably be snatched up the moment he had come back with his wallet.
"That comic looks so cool!"
Turning to his right, Lance saw a girl his age with long, red hair. Was she talking to him or was that just an unintended case of speaking aloud? He was unsure.
Giving a small nod, Lance said: "Y-Yes, yes it does." His voice was a deep baritone.
Looking him in the eye, the girl commented: "I've not seen you at school before. Are you new to Dolphin City?"
"Yeah, my family just moved her this morning. I'm Lance Carter. What's your name?"
Giving him a smile, the girl answered: "Rikki Chadwick."
