Akame Ga Kill: Kill the Second Chance.

Hello, readers! Welcome to the new and improve version of Akame Ga Kill: Kill the Second Chance! This will be the same story as the original Kill the Second Chance story, only for things to be different than before, which will be revealed in the next chapter.

As you are already aware, this is a time-travel story where Tatsumi dies after the final battle and gets sent back in time to change not only the timeline, but all his friend's fateful deaths. He will be a half human/half Danger-Beast since he'd infused with Incursio, and he will have a large harem. He will also be much stronger and smarter than before, and he will memorize every event that had happened in the old timeline.

Enjoy the chapter.

Chapter One: The Time Travel Begins.

Everything was in chaos.

Two sides, the Revolutionary Army and The Empire, had launched their final attack to end a great war once and for all.

Only to cause chaos.

The two sides had created chaos beyond belief and the results were horrifying.

Blazing fires were scorching shops, inns and civilians non-stop.

A large amount of people – men, women, children, soldiers alike – were killed and littered around in burnt crisps or skewered into pieces.

Large lands were either destroyed by the two sides or burnt down by scorching fires.

And worst of all, everything in the nation was destroyed.

Everything was gone.

The nation was destroyed.

Lives were lost.

A Capital that was once corrupted by the Prime Minister was now reduced into nothingness, and the two sides that were fighting a great war had lost.

Neither side had won and there weren't any survivors at all.

Except one.

One soldier had survived but not for long.

Laying on a bloody street with numerous dead bodies and donned in gold armor that was shaped like a dragon was a young man that seemed to be about seventeen. He had messy, yet slightly spiky, brown-hair, pale skin and bright emerald-green eyes. However, the emerald-green eyes were filled with pain and sorrow.

'This can't be happening…' The heavily injured man thought, who was known as Tatsumi, as he struggled to stand up. 'It just can't be happening…how can everything gone so wrong? From the beginning to the end?'

The final battle was supposed to be a success mission, just kill the Capital's soldiers and kill the Prime Minister to end the great war, so how did the mission go wrong? Was it because the Revolutionary Army underestimated the Empire's strength, or was it because the Prime Minister activated the First Teigu that no one had seen for over a thousand years?

It was the latter, because as soon as the First Teigu was summoned, the emperor used its great power to not only destroy the Revolutionary Army but large parts of the Capital. Tatsumi, after getting out of his shock from seeing such destructive power, began fighting the First Teigu with all his strength, but his strength was not enough to at least damaged the Teigu, and the brown-hair man was starting to get injured from all the times he was sent flying away.

But despite being injured, Tatsumi kept battling the First Teigu, and he soon transformed the armor he was wearing, Incursio, into an evolved form where the silver armor became golden with dragon wings in the back. With its incredible strength and power, Tatsumi defeated the First Teigu and ended the great war once and for all, but the victory was short-lived when the First Teigu started to fall forward to where a bunch of people were. Tatsumi, who didn't want more bloodshed to spill, quickly flew in front of the First Teigu and began pushing his entire weight against it, but it was much bigger and heavier than him, and the injuries the brown-hair man had were starting to get worse than before from pushing his entire weight against the enormous Teigu.

And here Tatsumi was, lying on a road that was stained with blood and dead bodies, along with the now broken First Teigu and the dead emperor.

A bitter, yet painful, chuckle escaped Tatsumi's mouth as he began recalling the times he had been doing when he was an assassin, including the time when he first learned the truth of the Capital.

When Tatsumi first entered the Capital, he was amazed at the city and wanted to explore it, while trying to get into the army to not only serve the country but to send the money he earned back to his very poor village. But things didn't go well for the brown-hair man. He wasn't accepted into the army, and he had lost all the money he earned to a young, blonde-hair woman who told him about having connections to the army. And to make it worse for Tatsumi, he was kicked out of the inn he was staying at and found himself at the streets.

Just when Tatsumi was about to sleep outside since he had no money, he was met with a young noble heiress, who was known as Aria, offer him a place to stay and a job as a bodyguard, and Tatsumi, in a desperate need of money and a place to stay, accepted the offer and the job, which he was slightly regretting as the bodyguard job was not only to protect Aria from danger but to carry a lot of bags the next day.

Tatsumi was going to admit, he was greatly disappointed from what he was doing, and he was seriously on quitting the job, because he was a fighter, not a servant. But he couldn't quit the job because he needed to find his two childhood friends, Sayo and Ieyasu, and earned money for his village, so he didn't quit the job, just wished that he can fight someone or a Danger-Beast.

Somehow, Tatsumi gotten his wish as night time appeared, a group of assassins suddenly showed up and began killing every guard that worked for the noble family. Aria, who saw the assassins, rushed towards a large shed with two guards and Tatsumi on her heels. But before they can enter the shed, they were stopped by a young, teenage girl with long, raven-black hair, pale-white skin and dark red eyes that were emotionless, sharp and very cold. Tatsumi instantly recognized who she was; this was Akame, a wanted person for the Capital.

Akame quickly killed the two guards with such grace and speed with her sword, which was a katana, and was about to kill the heiress when Tatsumi suddenly jumped in front of her and blocked Akame's sword with his sword. Akame was confused and surprised by this and backed away when Tatsumi sent a slash at her, and the brown-hair man quickly got in front of the Aria to protect her.

Pretty soon, after exchanging argument words, Akame and Tatsumi got into a heated fight with their swords, but despite Tatsumi being skilled with a sword, Akame had more skills and was faster than him. Not to mention, she was very deadly and had no hesitation to end her enemies, just like those guards she killed.

In fact, Tatsumi almost died to Akame, who had managed to stab her sword into Tatsumi's chest, but thanks to a figurine he got when he left his village, the brown-hair man survived from Akame's attack and the said girl was stunned, even if she didn't show it on her face. Then, as by a stroke of fate or something, Tatsumi met the same blonde-hair woman, whose name was Leone, and instantly accused her of being an assassin and stealing his money from yesterday. Leone, growing amused from seeing Tatsumi again, cheerfully told him that she was an assassin from Night Raid, much to Tatsumi's confusion.

Before Tatsumi can ask questions, Leone suddenly got serious, grabbed the noble heiress that was trying to sneak away and kicked the doors to the shed Tatsumi saw moments ago. She then turned around and ordered Tatsumi to look inside the shed, and what Tatsumi saw when he looked inside the shed changed his life forever.

"No…no, this can't be real…the Capital is supposed to be a place where dreams can come true…this is not real."

"Tatsumi…what you're seeing in the shed is real. Instead of the Capital being a happy place, it's a corrupted place that's filled with sick people and murderers. The sick people are killing innocents, Tatsumi, and they do this for sadistic pleasure. This girl here abducts and kills country people who doesn't know the truth about the Capital."

Tatsumi wanted to deny it, that the Capital was not an evil place but a good place, but he couldn't form words from seeing all the dead bodies in the shed. And then, to his very great horror, he saw his childhood friends in the shed, with Sayo hanging on the ceiling, bloody, bruised and naked, and Ieyasu lying in a cage, bloody and bruised. The moment Tatsumi saw his friends dead, his vision went red with anger, and before anyone knew it, he took a couple steps forward to where Aria is and killed her with a single, downward slash.

That was the first step towards the dark path of assassination.

After Leone and Akame argued a bit about what to do with the brown-hair man, they had dragged Tatsumi with them and back to Night Raid's base to where the brown-hair man met the other assassins and became an assassin himself. Since then, after he joined Night Raid, Tatsumi vowed to help his fellow comrades with their mission to kill the Prime Minister who started all this bloodshed and corruption and bring an era of peace to the Empire.

But as the days passed by, Night Raid were losing their members one by one, and the present Tatsumi, who was all bloody and injured while lying on the ground, had tears in his bright emerald-green eyes when he began remembering his friend's deaths.

The first person to die was Sheele, who got wounded at first by Seryu before getting brutally eaten by Hekatonkheires, a Biological Teigu that was shaped as a dog.

The second person to die was Bulat, who got poisoned to death by the person he respected during the time in the Empire and defeated during a Night Raid mission, General Liver.

The third was Chelsea, who was recently a new member of Night Raid before having her head cut off by one of Kurome's puppets, Natala, a perished member of the Elite Seven and Kurome's childhood friend.

Lubbock wasn't that far to join the three perished Night Raid members as he got skewered in half by a member of Wild Hunt, not before taking out the Prime Minister's son, Syura.

Susanoo, also a recently new member of Night Raid like Chelsea, was the next person to die, having his core taken off by Esdeath when they were in a heated battle.

Next was Mine, who had used all her life force to finish off Budo, the Great General of the Capital. But before she died, she confessed her feelings to a teary-eye Tatsumi and kissed him on the lips.

Leone died from blood lost when she got shot multiple times in the stomach by the Prime Minister.

Akame died from using her Teigu's trump card – Little War Horn – when facing against Esdeath in the final battle. She managed to kill the Ice Queen, but the cost of defeating her ended the raven-hair assassin's life.

Tatsumi wasn't sure what happened to Najenda, the Boss of Night Raid, but he assumed that she was caught in one of the attacks the First Teigu did moments ago.

Which made Tatsumi the only one left.

The last survivor of Night Raid and the last soldier of the Revolutionary Army.

As Tatsumi continued to lay on the ground with all his injuries, he suddenly heard loud, booming footsteps coming towards him and he looked up to a Danger-Beast unlike any he had seen before. It had the appearance of a half human/half Danger-Beast, with top part being human and the bottom being Danger-Beast.

"I'm surprised you managed to stay awake from all the injuring and blood you lost, human." The Danger-Beast said with a hint of surprised in its voice. "Most humans would die from losing too much blood and having a lot of injures."

A cough of blood escaped Tatsumi's lips as he tried to stand up. "Did you…came here to give a compliment about me being special?"

"Fool, I came here to find someone to challenge me, not compliment a weakling like you." The Danger-Beast hissed at Tatsumi. "But it seems I was too late, and everyone has been completely disintegrated into ashes, leaving me with no challenges to face." A heavy sigh escaped the Danger-Beast's mouth. "Oh, well. I guess I'll just have to find a different continent to find strong opponents after I get rid of you, human. No sense of keeping you alive since you're weak and injured."

After the Danger-Beast said that last part, it widely opened its mouth to show a cannon that was being charged up to kill Tatsumi. Said man was struggling even harder to stand up after getting out of a shock state from seeing the cannon, but he screamed in pain when he felt something hard and heavy land on his back. He turned his head around and saw that it was a large piece of a broken wall. The tears Tatsumi had in his eyes began streaming down his face. It was over for him; he was going to die. He had failed everything. His friends, his village, the Capital, the Revolutionary Army and Night Raid. He had failed them all.

The Danger-Beast, having enough power, aimed the cannon at Tatsumi and released its power, which was heading straight at the down brown-hair man, ready to disintegrate him into ashes. As the cannon blast made its way over to him, Tatsumi began recalling all his friends' words, the words he will cherished in his heart.

"Tatsumi, I know that we, me and Sayo, made a promise that whatever happens to us, we will die together, but the world and our village needs your help, and you need to get rid of the corruption. Keep fighting with your new friends." Those were Ieyasu's last words before he died from Aria's posion.

"If there's an afterlife, we can meet again, Tatsumi. But for now, try to move on from our deaths. It's not good to dwell on the past. Me and Ieyasu can't always baby you forever." Those were Sayo's last words to Tatsumi when he had a dream about his childhood friends.

"Even though there's no Teigu to bring back the dead, it's okay to grieve the ones we lost. So, you can go ahead and cry all you want, Tatsumi. I won't tell the others about this" Those were Sheele's comfort words when Tatsumi grieved over his childhood friends.

"If that's how strong you are, Tatsumi, then you might be able to surpass me. Go as far as you can to the distance, and when you do go to the distance, scream with all your passionate soul to unleash the fire in your heart. I'll be watching you from the heavens." Those were Bulat's last words after he gave Tatsumi Incursio to fight the final member of the Three Beasts.

"When I came back from a mission one time, I found out that my last team got discovered and slaughtered. I don't want to lose the people I consider as my friends. I'm tired of losing the people I care about." Those were Chelsea's sad words when she told Tatsumi about her last team in the hot springs.

"No matter how resilient something may be, there will always be a weak spot somewhere when you're battling a strong opponent. Try to remember that, Tatsumi." Those were Susanoo's advice words to Tatsumi when they were training one time.

"Tatsumi, when this war is over, I think I'm just going to settle down at the bookshop I've open and maybe confessed my feelings to Najenda. Despite me being a pervert, I always loved Najenda ever since I met her." Those were Lubbock's affection words towards the Boss of Night Raid.

"What are you saying? I'm always on the winning side, always has been since the beginning. Just promise me one thing, Tatsumi. Don't cry like a baby. Men shouldn't be crying like babies; they should be brave and strong. I love you." Those were Mine's last words before she slowly passed away in her dying moment.

"Tatsumi, I never got a chance to tell you this after you joined Night Raid, but whenever I see your smiling and blushing face, it makes me happy, and I always want to see your smiling face until the day you're mine to claim." Those were Leone's happy, yet sultry, words when she and Tatsumi were walking side by side one time in the Capital.

"It's true that I've seen countless deaths, but I lost friends I cared about, even if they didn't believe me about the Empire being corrupted and evil. How can I get used this? This awful pain of losing my friends? Tatsumi, we're assassins; we can't just mourn for one of our own, it will affect our next mission! But I just can't forget about Sheele! What will happen to use if we think about Sheele during our missions?! We will die! I can't lose anymore of my friends! I lost my childhood friends; I lost my little sister, and I just lost an important friend to me! How can I get use to this pain?!" Those were Akame's breakdown words a few days later when Sheele died.

'I'm sorry, everyone…' Tatsumi thought, closing his eyes when he sensed the cannon blast a few meters away. 'I'd managed to stop the war, but it cost me my life. I hope I see you all in the afterlife...'

The cannon blast got closed enough to Tatsumi and he knew no more.

(The Afterlife; With Tatsumi)

Silence.

Pure silence is what greeted Tatsumi, who was now laying on his back and still had his eyes closed. He groaned a bit before opening his eyes to see a bright blue, morning sky with very thin patches of clouds. He slowly sat up from what he was laying on, which was soft and a bit ticklish and looked around to see where he was, not noticing that he was no longer wearing the armor he used during the final battle and was not covered in blood.

Tatsumi was standing in a very large, plain, pure green grassland with no trees, flowers, water or even a house. It was just a plain and boring grassland.

'Why am I here?' Tatsumi thought, as he stood up and began walking a bit while looking around. 'Shouldn't I be in the afterlife with my friends?' As soon as he thought about that, Tatsumi's eyes widen to the size as dinner plates when memories of what happened to him rushed into his head. 'Wait, I died in the final battle! So, if I'm here…then my friends are here! Here, in the afterlife where they are waiting for me to join them!'

"Sayo! Ieyasu! Akame! Mine! Bulat! Lubbock! Leone! Chelsea! Susanoo! Sheele! Najenda!" Tatsumi bellowed, placing both hands by his mouth. "Are you all here?! Answer me!"

"You won't find your friends here, Tatsumi. So, please don't yell."

Hearing a feminine voice behind him, Tatsumi whirled around to see a beautiful, breath-taking woman walking towards him with grace in her steps. The woman looked to be in her early twenties, and had long, black hair that was flowing from the cool breeze that had suddenly appeared, pale skin and violet eyes. She was wearing a stunning, purple dress with thin straps and slits that exposed both her legs.

"Who are you?" Tatsumi edgily asked, getting into a fighting stance. "How do you know my name, and where are my friends?"

"I am Zenovia, dear Tatsumi, an ancient goddess that can grant anyone who is very special in the afterlife a single wish." The woman, now known as Zenovia, replied in a calm manner, not fazed from the edge in Tatsumi's voice. "And as for how I know your name, I have been watching you from the heavens."

"A wish?" Tatsumi repeated, losing the edge in his voice but not the fighting stance. "What kind of wish?"

"Before I answer that, Tatsumi, let me explain about my role as an ancient goddess, which is something that you want to hear." Zenovia said, as she summoned a comfortable chair and sat down on it. "Ancient goddesses are quite different than normal goddesses, since normal goddesses are goddesses that use the power of elements, like fire, lightning or ice. Ancient goddesses, however, have an unnatural power that was said to be impossible. The ancient goddesses have the power to grant people a second chance of life or to send them into a different dimension."

Tatsumi listened to Zenovia's explanation about the ancient goddesses, which was quite interesting since he never heard an ancient goddess before, but when Zenovia mentioned the second chance part, Tatsumi felt a simmer of hope in his chest. A hope to not only have a chance to live in the real world again, but to see his childhood friends and Night Raid, alive in the real world.

"Zenovia, are you saying that I can be given a second chance?" Tatsumi asked quietly, wanting to make sure that what he was hearing was not a big joke. "A second chance to live in the real world?"

"Yes, but only those who showed promises and worthiness can be granted a second chance." Zenovia replied with a soft smile. "And you have promises and worthiness to have a chance to live again, Tatsumi. So, what is your wish?"

Tatsumi began thinking about what his wish could be, while crossing his arms and adopting a thinking expression on his face. 'What should I wish for? Should I wish to go back in time to the year 1016 when Sayo and Ieyasu were still alive? Or should I wish to go back in time when Akame was just starting to become an assassin? I can help her conceived her childhood friends and her little sister about the truth of the Empire, but I don't even know about Akame's friends at all. As much it pains me to do this, but I really want to see Sayo and Ieyasu alive again.'

"I wish to go back in time in the year 1016 when my childhood friends were alive and when I was nine years old." Tatsumi declared loudly and clearly after making up his mind. "I would also like to have the events of the previous timeline in my mind, along with my friend's deaths, and I would like to have the power of Tyrant since I had infused with Incursio's power."

"If that is your wish, Tatsumi, then I will grant you it and hope you can have happiness." Zenovia said, still having that soft smile on her face before it changed into a grim frown. "However, I must give you this warning. If you do not complete your mission, I will be taking your life and you won't be giving another chance to change your future. You will also be a half human/half Danger-Beast, which will make you more powerful than ever, and you'll have to discover what your Danger-Beast powers are on your own."

Tatsumi couldn't help but grimace of what would happen to him if he failed his mission and the grim frown on Zenovia's face. As soon as he comes back into the world of living, he was going to make a vow that he will never fail his mission and never die again. The half human/half Danger-Beast part scared him a bit, but he didn't mind becoming a Danger-Beast for some reason. Maybe it was because Esdeath, the woman Tatsumi feared, yet loved at the same time, had Danger-Beast blood coursing in her veins.

Seeing that Tatsumi wasn't talking no more, Zenovia raised her hands in the air to begin the time travel sequence, but before she can say the words, Tatsumi interrupted her.

"Wait, before you grant me my wish, can you also do me a favor?" Tatsumi asked, causing Zenovia to raise an eyebrow. "I have a friend who uses a Teigu name Grand Chariot, and I was wondering if he can get memories and events of the previous timeline me and him were in, so he can save his team like me."

Zenovia was thinking about Tatsumi's favor in her mind and was wondering what to do. Ancient goddesses can only grant a person one wish and one wish only, not favors. And even if she does Tatsumi's request, then she would have to make his friend a half human/half Danger-Beast, which should be acceptable, considering that Grand Chariot is the defense type of Tyrant.

"Who is your friend, Tatsumi?" Zenovia asked with a light sigh. She shouldn't be doing this at all, considering that it will break an ancient law, but she found out that she didn't care and will only do this once.

"Wave." Tatsumi replied.

"I will grant you this favor, Tatsumi," Zenovia said, much to Tatsumi's relief. "But your friend will be a half human/half Danger-Beast. Will that be alright?"

Tatsumi thought about Wave being a half human/half Danger-Beast for a bit before nodding his head. 'If there was a way to talk to Wave, I'm pretty sure I can explain why I did this.'

Zenovia raised her hands in the air again and began the time travel sequence. A flash of bright light suddenly appeared underneath Tatsumi's feet and began traveling upwards. Tatsumi let out a yelp at the sudden flash of light, but as he tried to jump back, he couldn't move his legs.

"Don't move, Tatsumi! The time travel sequence is starting!" Zenovia shouted, as she began moving her hands in patterns. "Give it one minute and you should be heading back to the year of 1016!"

Tatsumi nodded his head and looked down to see the bright light now traveling up his upper body.

"Good luck on your mission, Tatsumi!" Zenovia exclaimed, as the bright light became brighter than before. "But remember my warning! If you fail, I will take your life away!"

"Got it!" Tatsumi yelled, just as the flash of light covered his entire body.

The bright flash of light brightened for a few moments before dispelling into tiny particles, and Tatsumi was no longer in the afterlife.

The time travel journey was about to begin.

Alright, that is the end of the first chapter of the Kill the Second Chance. (I know you readers read this chapter before, but I just couldn't help and write that first part) As I said before at the start of the chapter, next chapter will reveal of what the story is going to be about and what's going to be different.

I will say this, however. The pairings from the original story will still be the same, so if you're going to request any females to join Tatsumi's harem, don't. But I am planning on writing the Male Assassin, which is an Akame Ga Kill story about Tatsumi being the only male assassin. If you readers want me to write that, write a review about it and I might start writing the first chapter.

Tatsumi's harem: Akame, Leone, Mine, Sheele, Chlsea, Seryu, Suzuka, Cosmina, Spear, Esdeath and Sayo.

Other pairings: Najenda X Lubbock X Mez and Wave X Kurome.

Write a review if you like this story and enjoy the chapter.

Next Chapter: Eight Years Later.
