The Death of Free Will

Chloe walked into Lucifer's penthouse. Tonight was supposed to be take two on their 'date'. It was also take two on sending Lucifer back to where he belonged. She screwed up last time, but she would make sure it worked this time.

Chloe had second guessed herself for a bit after finding out Lucifer was vulnerable around her. She started to think maybe it meant Lucifer wasn't bad after all. After thinking about it, however, she decided maybe it was a sign. Maybe he was vulnerable around her so that she could do what had to be done. And even if Lucifer wasn't evil, he still didn't belong on Earth. Earth was meant for humans, not the Devil or angels. Lucifer had to go. So did Maze and Amenadiel for that matter. Once Lucifer was back in Hell, she'd have to ask Kinley what they could do about them. She felt bad about Amenadiel, as he was an angel, but he didn't belong among humans either

Lucifer was just coming from the kitchen when Chloe arrived. He immediately started smiling from ear to ear. "Hello, Detective. Ready to try this again?"

Chloe plastered a smile on her face. "Absolutely. We have no case this time, so we shouldn't be interrupted."

Lucifer chuckled. "And I decided to leave the music off this time, so there should be no accidents. I made lasagna and garlic bread this time. Well, almost. It's not quite done yet, but it will be in a few moments."

"Okay. Why don't you go finish up and I'll grab us some drinks?" Chloe asked.

"Well, I have a bottle of wine in the kitchen."

"I kind of feel like the hard stuff tonight," she said.

"Alright. I can definitely get behind that. There's a bottle of whiskey on the bar," Lucifer said.

"Great. I'll make us drinks and meet you in the kitchen," Chloe said.

Lucifer nodded before heading for the kitchen.

Chloe immediately headed for the bar. She grabbed the bottle of whiskey and two glasses. She immediately poured two drinks before grabbing the vial of sedative in her purse. She poured the contents into one of the drinks, making note of which one it was. She then took them both into the kitchen where Lucifer was just setting the table.

"Just finished," Lucifer said.

"Great," Chloe said before placing Lucifer's drink down next to his seat and sitting down on the other side of the table.

Lucifer immediately picked up his drink and took a large sip of it before heading back to the counter to grab the garlic bread. He barely managed to get it to the table before he started to feel strange. He started to feel slightly nauseous and overheated, which was strange because temperature didn't affect him, even with the detective around.

Chloe watched Lucifer intently. She saw that the sedative was working. Now all she had to do was wait until Lucifer passed out and then text Kinley, who was waiting for her call down at LUX.

Lucifer pulled off his suit jacket. He was sweating, and the nauseousness had gotten worse. "What's happening?"

Chloe said nothing. She just sat there and waited. She felt a couple of pangs of guilt, but she knew she was doing the right things. Lucifer didn't belong on this planet.

"I…I have to get out of here. I need air," Lucifer said. He stumbled towards the living room.

Chloe got up and followed him. They had just made it to the living room before Lucifer collapsed, but he was still conscious.

Lucifer looked up at the detective. He could barely see her at this point, as his vision had started to blur, but he could still make out her features, and she didn't seem the least but concerned. In fact, she appeared to be waiting for something. That led him to one conclusion. She was the cause of whatever was happening to him. "Y… You did something to me. You g…gave me something. Why?"

"You don't belong here, Lucifer. You need to go back to Hell. Since you're too selfish to do it yourself, we had to make you," Chloe said before taking out her phone to text Kinley. Lucifer wasn't out yet, but he would be soon, and even if he wasn't, he couldn't do anything to stop them in his condition. She wanted this over with.

Lucifer felt a pain in his chest. That, he knew wasn't the drugs. That was the knowledge that the wone person he trusted fully in the universe had just betrayed him. She wanted him in Hell. Worse, she'd pretended to be interested in him to make that happen.

Lucifer inched away from the detective, not that that would help him at all. He was pretty sure he was about to die, and the only way to stop it was to get away from the detective, but he couldn't walk. He certainly couldn't fly. He could barely crawl. So he did something he never thought he'd ever do again. He prayed.

God was in his office doing some work when he received his son's prayer. Obviously, it deeply concerned him. Samael didn't pray to him. He screamed at him from time to time, but he had prayed to him exactly one other time since he'd been sent to Hell, and that had been right before he died at the hands of a human.

God had no doubt that this time was just as dire as the last. In fact, his son's tone of voice in his prayer definitely confirmed that. He sounded weak and scared. He had begged for help, this time for himself instead of someone else.

God wasted no time in going to his son's location. He arrived in Samael's penthouse, and the scene that greeted him made him see red. Samael was on the ground in clear distress while a priest whispered Latin, and Chloe Decker watched the whole thing. It was not hard to figure out what was going on. "Step away from my son!"

Chloe and Kinley both flinched from the loud and vibrating voice. They turned to see middle-aged man looking murderously at them.

God did not wait for the two humans to obey his command. He waved his hand, causing them to fall to the floor and slide across the room. They weren't harmed… yet, but they were away from his child. He then knelt down in front of his son. "Samael."

Lucifer was barely conscious, but he was alert enough to be surprised. He never thought his father would come when he prayed, especially since he offered no quid pro quo this time. It was just one last desperate attempt to save himself. "D… Dad."

"I have you, child," God said gently before picking his son up with ease and carrying him to the couch, where he laid him down.

By now, Chloe had figured out who this 'man' was, and she was rightly terrified. She scrambled to her feet ran to the elevator. God was here, and he was clearly not happy with what was going on. He actually seemed to be concerned for Lucifer. She had to get out of there now.

Kinley was right behind her. He knew now that it was the Lord that had intervened. While he didn't know why he would come to help the Devil, he also wasn't stupid enough to stay to find out. He did have some self-preservation.

God paid the two treacherous humans no mind, other than to ensure that they could not leave. He would deal with them later. Right now, his son was his only priority. He put his hand on his chest to see what was ailing him. He immediately found that there was a dangerous substance in his body, one that likely would've killed him within minutes. "I'm afraid this will be unpleasant for you, Samael"

A bright light emitted from God's hand before Lucifer began coughing and gagging. God immediately turned him on his side just in time for him to start vomiting on the floor. He did this for a good fifteen minutes before he began coughing once more.

"Easy, son. Take some deep breaths," God said.

Lucifer immediately did as his father instructed. It took another five minutes, but he started to feel better. He then began to sit up.

"Are you alright now?"

"Yeah. You can go now," Lucifer said. Perhaps he should be a little grateful, but since this happened because of his father, he wasn't inclined to be.

"I think not. Tell me what happened," God told him.

Lucifer didn't respond. Not only did he not feel like obeying the bastard, but he had no idea what his father would do once he knew. Despite everything, he didn't want his father to hurt the detective. She betrayed him, but he couldn't help but still love her.

"Now, Samael. I will read your mind if I have to," God warned him. He didn't want to do that, but he would if it was necessary. He needed to know exactly what had been done to his son.

Lucifer glared at his father, but he knew he had no choice. His father didn't bluff. He would follow through with that threat, which meant he would get the information either way. "The detective put something in my drink, I think. She said she was going to send me back to Hell. Then that idiot showed up and started trying to exorcise me, as if that would work. The poison is what would've sent me to Hell."

"I see," God said in tight voice before turning towards the two humans. He saw Chloe Decker going back in forth between pounding on the elevator doors and trying to pry them open.

"Come on!" Chloe yelled as she pounded on the door once more.

God laughed and spoke in a menacing tone. "You are not going anywhere, my dear."

Chloe shivered at God's tone and turned to see him glaring murderously at her. Still, she had yet to realize the far-reaching consequences her actions would have, not only on her, but the rest of mankind.
