1. First Kiss

The year is 2018, Spring. Flowers falls dreamily everywhere, creating a very scenic view up the mountains area. And it was just a few days prior to the start of the new school term. The school was quiet as usual, and this year, there will be a new transfer student in the Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College.

A black car stopped just outside of the college's main entrance. Gojo Satoru stepped out with all his pomp and eagerness to introduce the new student to his group of students in the school.

"Annnnd we're here!" the white haired Gojo Satoru exclaimed happily. "Welcome to your new school! And dorm. You're just in time to join your new group! It's the start of the year and you'll be joining the 2nd years!"

Ijichi stepped out from the car and motioned kindly for the girl behind the car seat to get down too.

"It's alright, Tsukigami-san," the older man said to her. "Your registration with the school is completed by Gojo-san earlier already. You're all good to go."

"Thank you, Ijichi-san, Gojo-san," the girl said and stepped out of the car.

Gojo Satoru laughed. "It'll be Gojo-sensei from now on, Tsukigami. Or Gojo-sensei the Great if you'd like!"

"Gojo-sensei the Great then," the girl replied. Ijichi and Gojo froze.

"Wait, for real?" Gojo cried in disbelief. Never he had a student willingly look up to him so quick into the school's session. Happiness blooms in his heart as he felt lightweight and over the moon for the praise that boosted his ego that he could no longer contain in his heart. "For real, real?"

The girl smiled. "Not really, Gojo-sensei."

His heart breaks into a million pieces.

"You're so mean, Tsukigami-kun!" Gojo cried in an overdramatic disappointed whine. "'Why are you so mean, Tsukigami! It's only your first day! Don't you want to be the teacher's favourite?"

The girl turned around halfway through the steps and smiled at the white-haired sorcerer. "I'm sorry, Gojo-sensei. I never said I was nice."

Ijichi almost chuckled. Gojo could very well finally found a student who could reign down his dramas. She just needs to maintain that meanness and it will all be a good dose of medicine for the eccentric sorcerer.

As she walks up the stairs towards the courtyard, Ijichi turns towards Gojo Satoru and asked, "Aren't you supposed to bring her around the school's compound? It's her first day here after all."

The sorcerer smiled. "I never promised her that. All I did was offer to send all her luggage into her new dorm room. Plus, she's young. She'd want to explore some stuff on her own."

"Did you tell her those restricted places?"

"Whatever for? Students are supposed to be allowed all the freedom of curiosity. That's how they learn and grow, Ijichi-san. Plus, she's smart. She'll know the boundaries."

"It's surprising how quickly she comes to terms with the death of her clan," Ijichi pondered contemplated openly. "Being the only one left, she will be the attention of every power hungry clan leaders in Japan."

Gojo inserted his hands into his pockets and stares at the gradually disappearing back of the new student. "Survival of the fittest. She's the only one left of the Tsukigami clan. She had to buck up quick and accept the fact that this is her world now. As to being the only one left, that means she has the final say in her suitors. She'll be fine."

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Inumaki Toge walks around the school's compound. The weather is good. Flowers blooming everywhere, and its Spring. The air is still slightly cool from the winter winds last week, and it brought a nice chill feeling to his skin. Less heat in his zipped up dark collar equals a happy Inumaki Toge.

He wanted to go to the forest to train, seeing as the exam between Tokyo and Kyoto will commence here in the school's forest this year. It won't be for another month or two, but it's better to prepare early than later.

Afterall, he knew his powers best. Without his cursed speech, he will be nothing. He could not rely on his powers to keep him safe all the time as well. He will need to train constantly in order to face the untold dangers he may face as a jujutsu sorcerer.

This will then help him in times of danger, and to help his comrades in times of needs as well.

He saw a girl crouching over a river he's passing by. This river ran all around the school. Rumour has it that this river holds the secret to the barrier surrounding the school, and that there's a dragon underneath it that protects the school whenever it is invaded or in danger.

Of course, those rumours are never proven true.

She was picking through stones by the riverbanks. He knew there are some places that has shiny rocks in it, and occasionally, he'd pick some nice-looking ones and bring them back to the dorms garden. He liked to set them up around his flowers. Perhaps those rocks attracted the attention of this girl.

He didn't know there could be someone else in the school grounds that liked to pick stones by the riverbanks too.

As she stood up, he saw – or rather heard – the sound of the stone she was standing on begun to crack. There had long been a hairline crack there, and he had avoided stepping on it to avoid this scenario. Pulling down his dark high collar's zipper, he ran towards her and exclaimed, "Don't move!"

Precisely a few seconds before he unleashes his cursed speech command, the girl had turned around and about to slip on a slippery piece of mossy stone by the riverbank when the stone she had stood on cracked and faltered under her weight. Upon hearing his cursed speech, her body locked in obediently as per his command, and she felt her world tilt as the stone gave way to her weight on it.

The last thing she saw was of a white-haired boy with violet eyes running towards her frantically, his violet eyes wide with shock before she feels herself fell backwards into the river.

He did not even hear her scream.

She didn't float back up even after falling over the river. The river wasn't even flowing swiftly. It was a sort of lazy current that does nothing to a weight of a human in the river. But she didn't float back up like what a human normally does.

She wasn't the swimming type?

He had heard Panda mention to him a fact check from some bullshit magazines that spews out nonsense about people who couldn't swim. Apparently, they're more suited to those scuba diving stuff as their body naturally sinks instead of float.

Was she the scuba diving type?

After much consideration, he commanded her to come up from the water with his cursed speech, "Come back up." He crouched by the riverbank and waited. But there was no movement of anything coming back up, much less the girl.

"Come back up!" he tried again, this time with more urgency. Still, she didn't float up.

It was then he realizes, he couldn't command her to come up from the water.

She has been under the water for a while now with no signs of coming back up. Her body must be still under his command. Panic blooms in his heart as the second ticks by. He had never thought his commands could be blocked by water. He never tested it out. Never bothered. The thought never crossed his mind at all. But he couldn't just stand by and wait for her to float.

She'd die.

Gritting his teeth, Inumaki muttered a quiet "Mentaiko!" (Fuck it!) and took off his shoes before diving down the river.

The cold water hit him hard as he jumps into the water. The depth of this river was astounding. Inumaki Toge had never bothered to get a dip in this river. But today he realizes just how deep this river was. It reaches far and deep with an almost ink black darkness he never knew existed within this innocent looking river. He'll need some time for his eyes to adjust to the darkness of the depth.

And to think that he always picks stones for his garden here.

After the air bubbles cleared, he saw a figure dressed in that same baby blue dress the girl wore and dove quickly towards her.

Reaching her, he pulled her into his arms and swam them both back up to the surface.

They broke through the surface of the water shortly afterwards. The girl in his arms remains immobile. Inumaki pulled her face upwards and realizes he still has her under his cursed command spell and releases her quickly with one powerful command.

"You can move."

At that command, Maguro's body-lock command breaks. She sputtered, taking deep gulps of air and grabbing hold onto the only thing that makes her float. Of all the hazards she could have encountered, she had to encounter her fear of water on her first day of school?

"Takana?" (Are you alright?) Inumaki said, concern flooding his expression as he watches the girl in his arms struggling to stay afloat. She did not answer him. Her grips are quite weak, probably from the lack of oxygen down under the water for that extended timeframe it took for him to make up his mind. Guilt welled up in his heart as he watches her cough up water from her lungs. Wrapping an arm around her waist to help her float, he held her chin up with his fingers and studied her face. Again, he asks, concern flooding his eyes, "Takana?" (Are you alright?)

Giving a few coughs, Maguro grabbed hold onto his shoulders and looked up at the platinum blonde boy. His violet eyes stared down at her, looking up and down her face in an almost frantic, but calm way. The way his platinum blonde hair looked so fitting on his fair innocently beautiful face it hurts to know even a boy could look so much prettier than she could.

He said something about a Takana or something, but then asking her if she is alright. She summed it to herself that probably she had misheard is all. She nodded her head frantically, blinking the water from her eyes before replying him gratefully, "Y-yes, I'm alright. Thank you very much…That was scary deep water there."

"Shake. Okaka," (Indeed it is. I only knew just now too.) Inumaki said apologetically. Seeing as she could float now, he unwrapped his arm around her waist.

And immediately, she sank right back underneath the water surface. He heard only her half scream before water silenced her screams in bubbles.

"Mentaiko!" (Shit, shit, shit.) Inumaki's heart restarted that panic pound. He didn't manage to grab her hands before they sunk under the water. Submerging himself back down to the water, he saw her hand reaches towards his desperately, her face a pure look of terror underneath that eerily dark water.

Just when his hand almost caught hers, she suddenly retracted her hand back and clawed at her throat. Inumaki watches as the precious air bubbles escaped from her mouth and floats up to the surface. He realizes that she probably didn't have time to take a deep breath before she sank back underneath the water.

Not to mention she sank faster than he could catch up to her.

He swam towards her as fast as he could and pulled her face up to his. She was almost limp to the touch whilst her eyes are closed.

She's drowning.

Pulling her close, Inumaki tries to pull down his high collar's zipper, but it appears to be stuck when underwater. Dragging his high collar down, he pressed his mouth onto hers and breathed air into her. Her eyes snapped open immediately, a pair of violet eyes looking deep into hers as she begun to breath. Hands latching onto his shoulders, Maguro pressed her lips closer to his and accepted the breath

of air desperately.

Inumaki breaks their underwater kiss and swam back up towards the surface with her in his arms. When they break the surface, Maguro immediately latch herself tightly onto his shoulders and refused to let go.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry. I can't swim. I'm sorry. Please, could you just pull me to dry land? I'm so sorry," she apologized to the platinum blonde boy after a fit of cough, embarrassed that he had to come and rescue her the second time, more so with a kiss in tow.

"Takana, Tuna," (I was the cause of this accident. I am sorry.) Inumaki said, noting that she had literally plastered her body to his. She seems afraid of water. Dragging her along, he swam them both to the bank and helped her out of the water.

"No, it really is me. I should have just gone straight to my dorm just now instead of wandering around without a guide. If I did, we wouldn't be in this mess right now," she explained as she crawled back up the bank with the boy's help. He was kind enough to support her as she climbed back to the riverbank.

And it was also then, Inumaki finally realizes something odd that has been going on for a while.

She seems…to be able to understand him…

"Tuna… Shake?" (Wait a minute… you… can understand me?)

Upon coming up the riverbank, the girl turned around. Inumaki had just finished climbing back out of the riverbank and stood up, one hand brushing his long hair back. Maguro thought for a moment that he looked really good doing that. His now wet platinum blonde hair looks so good on him. She couldn't help but shiver a little when his violet eyes landed on her. "I…can," she answered and looked at him weirdly, flushing a little when she realizes she has been gawking at him.

She couldn't help it. He looks too pretty.

Not to mention he kept calling her name in English translations. Did he know or didn't know her name really meant Tuna?

Wait. Did he know her name?

At the same time, what is his name anyway?

"You were talking," she replied in a matter-of-factly way. "You were, weren't you?"

Inumaki shakes his head. He pulled down the zipper to his dark collar to show her the Inumaki family's Snake and Fang's seal on either side of his mouth. He opened his mouth and showed her the seal tattoo on his tongue as well, "I am not talking verbally out loud. It's all in my head."
