**NOTICE** I went back and added a note at the end of the chapter to clear things up. Please read it as it will clear up a lot of confusion people keep having despite how I thought it'd be clear or obvious already with how I wrote things

Chapter 1
An explosion - that was the last thing he remembered happening before everything turned black.
Kaguya was the cause of it, he thinks. Something went wrong with the Sun and Moon Mark plan, he wasn't sure what, but it forced him to go with a Plan B of sealing her inside him. And then there was nothing but white.
He vaguely remembered her saying something before the explosion rang out. If he had to guess it probably was about bringing them down with her but his memory of it all was barely coherent.
Now he wasn't sure what was happening other than his body was flying through the air and he was in immense pain. It was like his body was being ripped apart over and over and over again.
Random words ran through his head as all this happened, words like luck, truth, move, repair, death, draw, and many more that made utterly no sense to him. It wasn't anyone's voice, just words and images that popped up as he flew.
He honestly wasn't sure how long he was flying as with the constant intense pain it was impossible to even think. Eventually he crashed hard into something but even then it didn't allow him to wake up or even escape the pain as now he was seemingly buried under rubble and still somehow moving.
Eventually, and thankfully, he grew numb to the pain which allowed him some rest as he could only wait until this stopped and he was able to awaken….whenever that was…..
-Japan - Unknown amount of time later-
A loud boom and the feeling of crashing into something was what woke Naruto up after sleeping for who knows how long. Disoriented, able to actually open his eyes, and was able to see light for the first time in what felt like forever.
As he sat up in what seemed like a massive crater he did the first thing he could think of - scream.
From the pain of having his body endlessly torn apart, the pain of being buried and crushed under rubble, and the pain of the crash. But most importantly the pain of losing everyone he loved and cared about.
With Kaguya gone he had no idea if those trapped in the Infinite Tsukuyomi were free, he hadn't felt the Bijuu at all inside him during his flight, and even now he couldn't feel his chakra. He was alone in every sense of the word in who knows where.
All he could feel was pain - pain that slowly lessened?
His confusion was quickly cleared up as, with a look at his arms, it was clear why - all his limbs were regrowing as only his torso and head were intact.
'UnDead' he thought, not sure where the thought came from but somehow a part of him knew that's what he was.
"Young man! Are you alright!?" a man's voice yelled out, his tone full of worry as Naruto turned to the side to see an incredibly muscular and tall blonde haired man in an odd outfit sliding down the crater and heading towards him.
"I-I think? At least I will be once my legs are done" Naruto pointed out, his voice hoarse and rough due to not using it for a long while with his intense scream probably not helping it.
"We thought you were dead, I mean, we didn't think anyone would be inside a meteorite of all things" the man told him, Naruto widening his eyes as that actually explained a lot.
"Huh, so being torn up in space is what I felt and then I was buried in a meteorite…If I wasn't undead, well, I'd be dead" Naruto muttered a bit to himself before turning back towards the man.
"….Are you sure you're alright?" the man asked, quickly going to help Naruto as he tried to stand up, catching him before he fell forward.
"Whoa, thanks there, seems like my legs aren't fully done…." Naruto said as he narrowed his eyes and looked himself over. "Oh you've got to be kidding me!" Naruto yelled as he patted himself over as he realized something.
"What? What is it?" the man asked, worried something was wrong before Naruto hung his head.
"I'm a damn short kid again!" Naruto groaned out, sad to be under five feet again and seemingly back in the body of his 12 year old self before letting out a defeated sigh. "Sorry if this sounds weird but where exactly am I?" he finally asked since if he came from space inside a meteorite well, he definitely wasn't anywhere he knew.
"Your uh, meteorite, landed on a remote mountain in Japan" the man told him as Naruto nodded.
"Cool, cool, but uh, what's Japan?" Naruto asked, getting only a slow nod from the man.
"Okay, I think I'm going to have to help you out more than I thought" the man told him as he took off his cape and draped it over him to cover him up since he was utterly naked. "My hero name is All Might" the man introduced as he put a hand on his back and started to help him up the slope of the crater.
"My name is Naruto, Naruto Uzumaki and some help would be really nice All Might as I think I was flying through space for who knows how long before this" Naruto muttered, getting another nod from All Might as they walked.
He was without anyone, no Bijuu, no nothing - he might not know who All Might was but something told him he could trust the man.
Not like he had much of a choice otherwise but he seemed trustworthy so he felt this was actually for the best.
Who better to put his faith in to help him in a new world than someone who screams 'hero'.
-Three Years Later-
He'll be honest, when he first was told about this world and 'quirks' he was a bit surprised.
Sure, he came from a world of chakra and Bijuu but something about quirks was just different. If he had to put his finger on it he'd have to say the range and variety was what made things interesting. Quirks were a bit of a 'grab bag' though at times from what he's seen, you either get the power to create blackholes or you get an 'extendable fingers' quirk. For the most part though he thought they were cool and gave him 'kekkai genkai' feels a bit.
Over the years he somewhat got used to things with All Might's help - or rather Toshinori's since that was the man's real name which he had trusted him with.
He was honestly still surprised by how much Toshinori had helped him and how he's continued to do so. At first he just thought it was due to him being the one to find him in the crater and a sense of duty but it genuinely felt like the man cared for him and wanted to be there for him.
It felt a bit odd but Toshinori was acting a lot like a father towards him…not that Naruto actually minded honestly.
Something about the man and how Naruto literally had no one else to rely on made it just feel right. Though he wasn't about to call him dad, something they both silently agreed on despite Toshinori calling him 'son' or 'my boy' in an old fashioned way adults called kids.
With Toshinori's help he was able to 'exist' in society with all the necessary paperwork, enroll in school, and get a house to live in which was a surprise to him since at most he expected an apartment.
For school, despite Toshinori's connections, he didn't want any special treatment so he decided to pick a school on his own - something that Toshinori agreed with. The school he picked was Aldera Junior High, it was nice and not far enough to make getting there difficult.
While not being the studious type by any means he got by. Though, if he was honest, the only issue he had with the school was their leniency with some students who were clearly bullies - the main offender being a boy named Bakugo.
The kid seriously had a bad case of an inflated ego due to his quirk which was pretty much explosive sweat which he used to scare and frighten anyone who talked back to him. The school seriously babied him due to his 'promising quirk' to the point of favoritism where they tended to 'look the other way' when he caused trouble.
Safe to say he definitely clashed with the Bakugo who felt he was superior due to him as all he had was a - in Bakugo's own words - 'weak ass fucking healing quirk'.
The only reason Bakugo called it that though was cause Naruto did his best not to showcase the full power of it - or any of his powers for that matter as over the years he learned he could be more than just 'UnDead'.
His power was the ability to negate certain rules of the world towards him, around him, or on others. Over the three years he had learned about a bit over two dozen different aspects of his power though was still getting the hang of things a little bit. All it took was a thought for him to change between powers which worked well for his 'think of the fly' type of fighting.
It apparently went far beyond what would be considered a quirk according to Toshinori who could only think of one quirk that could remotely come close to his. Though in the eyes of the nation and the world it was one, which he chose to name 'Negate All'.
It was a name that made sense and, to those who heard it, confused them enough to not figure it out unless he explicitly told them which worked for the best to hide things.
All in all, with everything he'd been up to for the last three years, he was on his way to enrolling in UA High School - the top Hero Academy in Japan.
"You guys are all third years now! It's time to start thinking seriously about your futures!" his teacher announced, snapping Naruto out of his thoughts and his trip down 'memory lane'. "I would like to hand out these future career forms but I assume you all want to be heroes!" he said with a smile as he tossed the papers into the air as everyone showed off their quirks as they cheered.
"Yes, you all have wonderful quirks but it's against the rules to use them in school" the teacher lightly warned as he knew kids could get over excited at times.
"Sensei! Don't lump me in with these losers!" the familiar and rather cocky voice of Bakugo Katsuki yelled out. "As if I had anything like their crappy quirks" he added with a scoff as he leaned back on his seat with his feet up on his desk.
"Get over yourself Katsuki!" a student said as others booed at him.
"Shut up! Extras should act like extras!" Bakugo yelled back, laughing and smiling as he mocked them.
"Ah Bakugo. You, of course, must be aiming for UA High School" the teacher said, surprising the other students as UA wasn't the top school for nothing.
"That national school!? The cutoff score this year is 79, right!? I hear they barely accept anyone!" a few students yelled out since, with it being the top school in Japan, they had to be very picky about who they let in.
You couldn't just get in with a good quirk, you also had to be smart so they don't end up wasting time on you more or less.
"Ah the stupid chattering of extras! I aced the mock exam! I'm the only one here with the stuff for UA!" Bakugo declared as he leapt on top of his desk. "I'll even surpass All Might and become the best hero out there! Not to mention I'll be one of the richest people in the world!" he further declared with a cocky and 'full of himself' smile.
"You're also going for UA, aren't you Uzumaki?" his teacher asked as Naruto smiled and gave him a little salute.
"Sure am Sensei, I aced my exam as well and my quirk allows me to take a major beating and I'm also quite confident in my strength and fighting skills. Mr. Future Richest Hero over there should know, given he starts shit with me alllllll the time only to get his ass kicked" Naruto said with a cheerful smile as Bakugo froze before turning and glaring back at him.
"Shut the hell up Ramen Face! Your quirk is totally crappy and it only turns out that way cause I can't fight seriously with you!" Bakugo yelled out as he slammed his hand down on Naruto's desk, setting off an explosion only for Naruto's hand to burst through it and grab him by the collar and pull down, slamming Bakugo's face hard onto his desk.
"Really? Cause I'd love to see how things go since, trust me, my quirk is more than meets the eye" Naruto said with a calm smile as he let go of Bakugo and shoved him back causing him to fall on his ass, watching as he wiped his bloody nose while Naruto's hand healed.
"Now now boys, let's not start anything" his teacher weakly asked, Naruto shrugging as the school bell rang, telling them it was over for the day.
"Hey, he's the one who exploded my desk, I merely defended it's honor" he told his teacher with a smirk as he grabbed his bag.
"We're not done here!" Bakugo growled out as he quickly stood up, Naruto merely rolling his eyes and shook his head.
"Yeah we are, I'm done dealing with your bullshit kid. You wanna play middle school bully? Go do it with someone else" Naruto told him as he started to walk out before stopping at the doorway and looking back at him over his shoulder. "Don't you think it's bout time you outgrew this given you want to be a hero? Heroes need to behave better than a cocky, arrogant, and violent delinquent" he told him bluntly before leaving, not caring or really wanting to see his reaction as honestly it didn't matter much to him.
Whether he actually wanted to change or be better was up to him, not something Naruto could force him to actually do.
With it being the weekend, and no class tomorrow, Naruto decided to relax and unwind a bit.
After a bit of a commute Naruto had his eyes narrowed in intense focus - solely focused on getting a prize from the crane game at an arcade he liked to frequent for a kid who had been struggling to get it himself.
"Al….most….there" Naruto slowly said as he focused before sending the claw down, silently watching as it pulled up the prize before successfully dropping it down.
"Yes! You did it Mister!" the kid next to him cheered as Naruto smiled, grabbing the prize only to quickly toss it over for the kid.
"Told you I could do it, just gotta be patient" Naruto told him with a smile as the kid happily hugged the All Might plushie.
The warmth was a bit short lived as Naruto's shinobi instincts kicked in, the hair on the back of his neck standing up in attention that told him something was about to happen.
Naruto wasted no time as he quickly rushed to the front of the store and activated UnChange - the ability to prevent the state of non-living objects from being changed - on the air around him to create a barrier just as a powerful explosion went off outside with the invulnerable air barrier protecting the inside of the arcade.
"Everyone go to the back of the arcade! Leave out the back! There's a villain attacking outside!" Naruto alerted everyone as he made an arm of air to reach over and pull the fire alarm to get anyone who didn't hear him to evacuate.
He honestly couldn't see much of anything through the smoke and rubble that was outside the front doors of the arcade, frowning as he used his barrier to grab his bag from over near the crane game.
The first thing he knew he should do was call Toshinori but, as the smoke settled, his eyes widened at the sight outside the arcade - Bakugo being controlled and almost possessed by some huge purple slime villain.
He might not like the kid but that didn't mean - with the cry for help in his eyes - he was about to abandon him.
"Hey! Slimeball!" Naruto yelled out as he used his barrier to move the rubble away from the entrance and walked out onto the street. "I believe you have a classmate of mine and, as much as I don't like him, it's probably for the best you ditch him" he added, getting the attention of the villain, Bakugo, and the heroes who had cordoned off the area - most likely not being able to really stop the villain since pulling a liquid like villain off a hostage was tricky to do.
"Why would I do that!? I've hit the jackpot with this kid and his quirk!" the villain exclaimed as Naruto smirked a bit and lowered UnChange as the villain had set it up perfectly.
"I've gotta say, for putting Bakugo in his place like this I gotta admit I like you a bit - though that also makes this so much easier" Naruto said, confusing the villain as Naruto activated UnTruth - another aspect of his power that allowed him to negate any conscious thought of someone he was looking at which caused them to do the opposite.
So, in this case, the conscious thought of wanting to keep possessing Bakugo was negated - or UnTruthed as he liked to put it - and he instead jumped off Bakugo and rushed towards Naruto.
"Perfect" Naruto said with a smile as he quickly swapped to UnChange and, using his barrier, trapped the entirety of the villain inside a dome of air. "And that is how we deal with that! Now would someone else get a container to put him in?" Naruto asked as he spun the villain around like a basketball on top of the finger of one of his barrier arm's hands.
As things settled down he really wasn't surprised in the least about getting his ear lectured off by heroes even after he pretty much did their job for them. To say this was a new occurrence would be a massive lie as this was something that happened a lot, like a lot a lot.
He just was the kind of guy who, if he saw someone in need, he wanted to help where he could. Though that was frowned upon without a hero liscense - something he found to be seriously stupid.
If anything he was more annoyed at how Bakugo was being praised for 'holding in there' and 'having such an amazing quirk'. He swore, if it was possible, his eyes would be sprained from all the rolling they were doing from it all.
"Relax there, I think he's got the message" a familiar voice spoke out as Toshinori walked over to them to pick him up. "I've been trying to get it through to him about this but he's quite hard headed about helping people" he added, giving him a few playful knocks on the head like he would a door.
Given who Toshinori was, you'd think others would recognize him instantly but it turned out his muscular form was only something he had when using his quirk. Apparently, like five years ago - two years before they met - he got seriously injured and sort of 'wasted away' due to the after effects of surgeries.
Now his 'true form' was a gaunt and skinny man who looked a bit like a skeleton at times and, due to his real name not being well known, he was able to go about his daily life easily enough.
"Are you his guardian?" the hero by the name of Death Arms asked as Toshinori nodded as, a bit after he had found him, Toshinori had made it official to keep Naruto from going into foster care or anything like that. "Then you really need to keep a better eye on him so he doesn't get in our way" he warned, Naruto nodding and rolling his eyes again before Toshinori forced him to bow.
"I try my best but he's a touch too wily for me to reign in all the time, I'll try harder" Toshinori assured him before they were allowed to leave.
"They should be thanking me, I was able to make the villain leave Bakugo with no fight and contain him instantly. I stopped any more damage from happening to the street or stores" Naruto complained with a frown as he looked back at Death Arms as they walked away.
"You're right, your UnTruth and UnChange did a better job than most heroes could have so that's why I'm not gonna scold you but just try to remember that you're still a student for now" Toshinori told him, smirking a bit to show he wasn't angry or anything since saving people was never something Toshinori felt was something to scold him over.
"Hey, Naruto!" Bakugo yelled out, surprising Naruto that he had run after him. "I never asked you to save me! I don't know what the hell all was that you did but you're quirk is still fucking weak! I could've beaten him myself! How dare a weakling like you pity me, don't you dare mock me!" Bakugo yelled before he quickly turned around and stomped off.
"W-Was that seriously his attempt at a thank you? If so, holy crap was it terrible. Like it literally couldn't have been worse" Naruto said, seriously shocked at how bad that was - even for Bakugo.
"That's the kid you've told me about, right?" Toshinori asked, getting a nod from Naruto as he had told him about Bakugo and the trouble he's caused to explain the calls from the school which Toshinori thankfully seemed to be on his side about. "Yeah, that kid definitely is something…." Toshinori said with a chuckle as he shook his head, also in a bit of disbelief.
"That's putting it mildly, he also wants to enroll in UA. He might have the skill quirk wise and the smarts but damn does his behavior seriously scream either villain or just plain asshole most of the time" Naruto said with a flat look, knowing Bakugo would constantly put his foot in his mouth when out in the public and when talking to fans - pretty much only excelling at the fighting villains part of things and being, well, Bakugo the rest of the time.
"He could have promise if he corrects his behavior" Toshinori suggested, which only got another flat look from Naruto.
"There is a better chance of a pig flying than there is of Bakugo chilling out" Naruto said with a sigh as Toshinori smirked and just shook his head.
"On the topic of UA, you'll be graduating soon and the entrance exam is getting closer - does our agreement still stand?" Toshinori asked, his tone getting serious before Naruto stopped and looked him in the eyes.
He knew what Toshinori was referring to, it was something that they had talked about a lot the last year or so - whether or not Naruto would accept Toshinori's quirk.
Toshinori's quirk was unique, even in the world of quirks, as it was the only quirk that could be passed down to another akin to an Olympic torch.
The quirk itself was called One For All and it was essentially a strength stockpiling quirk. Each time it was passed the strength it gave grew stronger and more refined to the point with Toshinori being the eighth user resulting in his insane strength.
At first, when Toshinori suggested him to be its next wielder Naruto wasn't sure as not only did he already have his own powers but he also wasn't even from this planet so they weren't sure he'd be able to accept it. Plus Naruto wasn't sure how it'd interact with his own powers if he were to accept it.
Over time, after everything Toshinori had done for him as well as Toshinori's wish for the quirk to continue on past him got him to agree with a stipulation.
He'd only accept it once he got into UA using his own powers and even afterwards it was up to Naruto for how and when he used it - both of which Toshinori agreed as the main reason he wanted Naruto was in part due to his own powers.
After all, what better vessel to keep the quirk safe from an evil villain that was hunting after it than a body that was literally unkillable?
Plus he was already a 'worthy vessel' since over the years he had been training a lot, not only to get back into his 'ninja physique' but also to be able to use his powers well in a fight.
Thank god, with a better diet, he was much taller than he was standing at a good six feet tall instead of the five feet four inches that he was when he was 15 the first time back home.
"Yes it does, I promise I will accept it after I get accepted into UA" Naruto told him with a smirk as he held out a fist towards Toshinori, getting a smile from the man as they bumped fists before continuing home.
-Three Months Later-
Over the next three months before the exam Naruto was a bit in overdrive, both in training and studying. School was a bit of a blur with how fast the time went by - finding himself now in front of UA High School for the entrance exam.
Bakugo was also surprisingly 'quiet' in a sense during that period. He hadn't been really bullying anyone ever since the villain incident though Naruto could feel the boy's eyes on him a lot.
If anything he was probably trying to figure out what had gone on with his quirk since this was the first time he had shown off anything other than UnDead - which was his 'default' and only used as far as minor healing - around anyone from his school.
Personally it didn't matter much as once he got into UA he didn't have to hide his abilities nearly as much as he has been.
"Move aside Naruto!" a familiar voice yelled out, getting a sigh from Naruto as he turned to see Bakugo walking towards him. "Get out of my way or you're dead" he threatened as Naruto could only roll his eyes.
"Threats on the way to a hero school entrance exam, how…..heroic?" Naruto said with a raised eyebrow, trying to point out again how a bit bad that might be while Bakugo seemingly ignored him and walked right past him.
'Yeah, he'll definitely correct his behavior Toshinori' Naruto thought with another eye roll, stopping as he heard clattering behind him and the grumbles and yells of a girl before what seemed to be a cassette player slid between his feet and stopped in front of him. He could hear someone running up behind him as he leaned down to pick it up.
"S-Sorry, slipped out of my hands" a girl's voice behind him said as he turned around and held out the cassette tape for them.
"No worries, I don't think it's damaged so you should be fine" he told her as he got a clear look at her.
She was a rather cute looking petite and slender girl with onyx colored eyes and short chin length dark purple hair with two streaks on either side of her head that were lighter purple and done in a heartbeat monitor wave design. The most stand out feature of hers were the plug-like earphone jacks that were seemingly attached to her ears.
"Yeah it should be fine, this thing is durable as all hell given it's twice as old as me" she said with a chuckle as she looked it over before reattaching it to her waist.
"All retro things tend to be, at least all the good stuff from what I'm told" he told her, getting a smirk from her as she agreed.
"Yeah it's a bit of a good luck charm of mine, I've had it with me every time I passed something I didn't think I would" she said as she put her hand on it, smiling as she looked down at it.
"Then I'm sure it'll serve you well here. We better head on in though, good luck on the exam" he told her, holding out his fist before she fist bumped him with a smile.
"You too" she said with a warm smile before he let her go on ahead of him and also made his way in to get seated for the exam.
The writing portion was, well, a writing portion. He felt he did a decent job at it as his memory was pretty good and he studied hard. He didn't even 'cheat' by using an ability of his since Toshinori and he had decided that it was best to save that mental skill for stuff he seriously needed to remember. Especially given the strain it could have on his mind if he used it too much.
As he headed into the practical portion his good mood from meeting the girl and doing well at the test was soured a bit as, due to being from Aldera Junior High, he found himself seated next to Bakugo. It was about as pleasant as he expected it to be with the glare ever present on Bakugo's face and mostly directed at him.
"Welcome to today's live performance!" Present Mic, a well known pro hero with an incredibly loud voice, announced as the exam was starting to begin. "Everybody say 'Hey!'!" he asked, trying to get people hyped up.
"Hey!" Naruto cheered as he felt bad leaving him hanging and the room was much too stuffy for his liking.
"Nice! Always love to see an ally in the crowd!" he said with a chuckle before he raised his hand. "Now, my examinee listeners! I'm here to present the guidelines of your practical! Are you ready!?" he asked, smiling as Naruto again was the only one to cheer.
"Yeah! That is what I like! Now, this is how the test will go my listeners!" he begun as the board behind him turned on showing a diagram with areas labeled A through G. "You'll be experiencing ten minute long 'mock apocalypse cityscape maneuvers'. Bring along whatever you want as after this presentation you'll each head to your assigned testing location" he explained which was also shown in the diagram behind him.
"That's so kids from the same middle school can't help each other out, yeah?" Bakugo asked as Naruto nodded.
"And why consecutive ID numbers are assigned to different locations" Naruto agreed and unsurprisingly got a 'tch' from Bakugo.
"But you get to live another day" Bakugo added, which only made Naruto sigh.
'Ah, there's the normal Bakugo with the death threats' Naruto thought as he expected as much from him.
"Each site is filled with three kinds of faux villains. Points are awared for defeating each according to their respective difficulty levels. Use your quirks to disable these faux villains and earn points! That's your goal listeners!" Present Mic explained as more images appeared on the wall behind him to help his explanation before he held up a finger. "Of course, playing the anti-hero and attacking other examinees is prohibited!" he quickly added before someone stood up with a raised hand.
"May I ask a question?!" the teen asked as he held up the paper they were all given. "There appear to be no fewer than four varieties of faux villains on this handout! Such a blatant error, if it is one, is highly unbecoming for UA, Japan's top academy! We're all here today in the hopes of being molded into model heroes!" the teen in glasses started to say before quickly turning towards Naruto.
"And you, with the bright blonde hair and whiskers!" he said as he pointed towards him. "You've been disrupting things with your cheering. If this is some sort of game to you then please leave immediately!" he declared with a rather heated glare as Naruto couldn't help but laugh.
"Dude, I was going along with Present Mic, you know? Getting in the mood? Maybe get the stick out your ass and stop being such a perfectionist over a little thing like an added picture on a flier. If anything, Present Mic hasn't gotten around to explaining that part yet" Naruto said, not one to back down from people as given all the people he fought back home rude people and jerks were literally nothing.
"Alright, alright, settle down. Examinee 7111, as Examinee 2709 explained, I hadn't gotten to it yet. The fourth faux villain variety is one that grants you zero points! He's more of an obstacle!" Present Mic started, sending a wink Naruto's way with a smirk. "Have you all played Super Mario Brothers? It's kind of like a Thwomp! Only one at each site, a 'Gimmick' that'll rampage around in close quarters!" he added as the glasses wearing teen bowed.
"Got it…so it's a gimmick to be avoided. Thank you sir, I apologize for the interruption! Really is like a video game then" he quickly said before sitting back down while also not apologizing to Naruto - though with how he had acted he didn't expect it to begin with.
"And with that, that's all from me! I'll leave my listeners with our school motto. The great hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said 'True heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life'. Plus Ultra! Break a leg everyone!" Present Mic wrapped up before everyone filtered out and divided into groups and led to their starting locations.
From stories that Toshinori told him Naruto knew that UA tends to go all out but the fact that their test was happening in a whole city made just for the exam was definitely intense.
Naruto had changed out of his middle school uniform and into just a pair of track pants, choosing to be shirtless and shoeless in case he needed to use certain techniques he developed with a few of his powers. Most notably about his outfit was the katana he had strapped to his waist which would also help with some of his techniques.
As he looked around at the crowd of people also in his area he smiled as he saw the same girl with the cassette from before the test.
Though, before he could make his way over to her, a hand grabbed his shoulder to stop him.
"Why are you here? Hoping to interfere?" the glasses wearing kid asked, a glare on his face again.
"I'm going to talk to someone I met earlier today? It's called conversation?" Naruto told him as he brushed his hand off his shoulder with a raised eyebrow, seriously confused what spurned the teen to decide to be like this. "And what is it to you? Last I checked there were no rules against talking before the test" he added as the teen merely crossed his arms and continued to glare before the PA system turned on.
"And begin!" Present Mic declared as most of the students somewhat stood around not sure what was going on. Naruto though, and a few others, didn't need to be told twice as they rushed off into the city with everyone else needing to be told by Present Mic to get going to actually get them to start.
The robots, while big, weren't anything too difficult. He found himself able to destroy them easily enough with a mix of his UnChange barrier crushing them and his katana slicing through them effortlessly as it too was made with a power of his - namely, UnBreakable.
As implied, anything he made while using this ability - whether it be a wall of bricks or a katana like this - would become unbreakable the moment he finished it so long as his will stood strong while he created it. This katana could fall into lava, be tossed in salt water for decades, or even thrown in an industrial crusher and it wouldn't chip, melt, rust, or grow any less sharp.
And given all the effort Toshinori helped to ensure he could make it as sharp as possible, it was safe to say this baby could seriously cut through just about anything in its path so it wouldn't have any trouble with this test.
He didn't really keep track of his points, focusing more on just attacking any that crossed his path as he ran through the city and helping out the occasional fellow testee that was seemingly having issues or being overwhelmed.
Personally he felt he was doing pretty well but, as the ground shaked and a massive shadow loomed over them, it seemed they had released the 'gimmick' which showed the test was almost over.
Like everyone else he personally planned to avoid it - having no need to take it down given that might 'show his hand' a touch too much - but as it struck down and more people fled, a single voice caught his attention.
"Oww…." her voice weak and barely audible as he turned to see the girl from earlier injured and trapped under some rubble with the gimmick incredibly close to her and on the move to potentially crush her.
That alone was enough to instantly change his mind without a second thought, causing him to run towards her and the gimmick with his katana in hand.
'Well, it seems like I'm gonna have to showcase some things. If I am, I might as well give a bit of a show for those grading me and those in the test with me' Naruto thought with a smirk as he sliced off his feet at the ankle, building up the regeneration and blood for a sort of 'rocket boost' that propelled him high into the sky.
'Gonna have to go for that combo. I think I pulled this off a few times in practice so it should be fine as in the field is where I excel! This is all about timing!' Naruto thought with a smirk as he stabbed his katana down into his shoulder and into his back, coating it in as much hardened blood as he could.
"UnDead Art: UnChanging Deep Blood River!" Naruto yelled as he drew his sword, swinging it down as hard as he could, the hardened blood creating a large blade of sharped blood and switching to UnChange the moment he drew the sword to ensure it would be able to hold its shape as it cut through the gimmick.
And cut through it it did.
His attack was able to easily cut the massive robot straight down the middle, the two halves of it falling safely to the either side as he switched back to UnDead to heal and survive the fall - although he tried his best to lessen the damage with a five-point fall.
"You okay there?" Naruto asked as he activated UnChange to protect them from any debris that might fall down due to the halves of the gimmicks crashing onto two nearby buildings and to help get the rubble off her.
"Y-Yeah, y-you saved my life" she said, some tears in the corners of her eyes as he helped her up to her feet.
"Don't worry about it, seriously. I'm just glad you're safe" he told her with a smile as he sheathed his sword, thankful that his severed feet had faded away before anyone found them.
"It's all over!" Present Mic declared, the exam officially over and the points now being tallied - although it'd be a week or so before any of them knew the results.
"Is your ankle okay or should I help you to the nurse?" Naruto asked the girl as he let her hold onto his arm for stability since he noticed she was limping a bit and wasn't putting any weight on it.
"I should be fine, I think the weight of the rubble just made it sore. Just gotta ease into walking on it" she assured him before letting go of him with a bit of a blush on her cheeks. "I-I'm Kyoka, Kyoka Jirou by the way. You can call me Kyoka" she introduced, still blushing a bit while somewhat putting her hand out and pulling it back a few times as if she wasn't sure if she should or not.
"Naruto Uzumaki but just call me Naruto. It's nice to meet you Kyoka" he said with a smile as he shook her hand, getting a smile from her as she twirled one of her earphone jacks around her finger a bit.
He enjoyed chatting with her as they made their way back to the changing rooms. They ended up chatting about stuff like music, how well they thought they did, and - before she ran off to get changed and leave - how she hoped, if they both passed, that they were in the same class. He couldn't help but chuckle as she seemed like a cool and down to earth girl.
Plus talking with her allowed him to ignore how everyone was whispering about him and how he took down the gimmick so easily as well as ignore the glare and frustrated look that the teen with glasses was giving him.
'Seriously, what is his deal?' Naruto thought with a raised eyebrow as he looked over to teen, watching as they grit their teeth before turning and walking away.
He could only shake his head and sigh as he had no idea and frankly, didn't quite care what was going on with that teen.
Once he got changed and put everything away it didn't take long for him to get a call from Toshinori.
"Hey, how was the exam?" he asked, his voice showing he wasn't in his 'All Might' form.
"It went well, didn't show off too much I think. Though I did have to show off a bit to save someone" Naruto said as he leaned against the wall outside UA.
"Yeah, I saw. You did the right thing and even then you held back….though you slicing off your feet got a few people close to puking" he said with a chuckle, Naruto not that surprised as when people saw him using UnDead it got….intense reactions to say the least.
"Well I had to get in the air fast and a staircase of UnChange wouldn't have done it" Naruto told him as he didn't have quite as many 'vertical movement' abilities to choose from.
"I know, don't worry about it as your power isn't anything to hide or hold back due to others. Look, I'll be home a little late so you can go on ahead without me" Toshinori said, getting Naruto to stand up from his lean against the wall.
"Okay, should I wait up for dinner or just cover the leftovers?" Naruto asked since it was getting late and with Toshinori being a busy hero sometimes he didn't quite make it home until very late at night or super early in the morning.
"I think I should make it back in time for dinner so you won't have to wait up that much. I'll see you then, be safe on the trip home" he told him before hanging up, Naruto slipping his phone back in his pocket and starting his walk home, proud of how he had done in the test and excited for the results.
-One Week Later-
The week since the exam went by in an odd mix of slow and fast - as things tend to when you are waiting for something to arrive.
Toshinori was being extra careful not to leak anything, not that he was pestering or asking him about anything. Though, at the same time he knew how - throughout all of this - Toshinori was really going out of his way to show and make sure their connection wasn't being seen or used as a 'conflict of interest' or any sort of favoritism.
He was thankful for it honestly and preferred it this way.
As he got home for dinner Naruto raised his eyebrow a bit in confusion as all the lights were off and no shoes were at the door but he could hear whispering and giggling in the direction of the main room.
He could only chuckle and shake his head with a smile as he walked into the dark main room, chuckling more as the lights flipped on to reveal a big banner with 'Congrats on Passing!' on the wall with a nice sized feast on the table.
"Surprise!" two familiar voices yelled out before they crashed into him for hugs.
The voices belonged to two girls who lived in the house alongside him after he helped them get back on his feet.
The first was Himiko Toga, a girl about two months younger than him.(*1) She was a petite girl and very pretty with bright yellow eyes that reminded him of a cat, sharp fanged teeth that he personally felt were a charm point of hers, and ash blonde hair that went down to her shoulders.
He ended up meeting her when she was on the run, surprising her as he was the only one who could seemingly detect her due to how skilled she was at pretty much erasing her presence. For a few months she had apparently been hiding due to an incident at her middle school that resulted in some blood shed with the blood kind of making her temporarily snap to protect herself.
It was through her experience that he learned the 'dark side' of people and how they were about quirks. People were all for the nice and shiny quirks but, if your quirk wasn't deemed 'acceptable' in society some parents forced their kids to pretty much 'quirk counseling' to suppress things or stop how they react to things due to their quirk.
Toshinori warned him a bit how people would be wary of his power due to UnDead and its gore and that was what had happened with Himiko due to her quirk which was also blood related.
Her quirk allowed her to transform into others by ingesting their blood, due to that - at an early age - she had a bit of an obsession with blood and wanting to drink blood of things she found to be pretty.
Suppressed emotions always exploded and, due to her parents wanting her to be normal and perfect for society, one day she somewhat did.
She had been a 'cheerful well-behaved girl' like her parents wanted but one day she saw a boy at her school fighting and fell in love due to him shedding blood. She got close with him but one day, for reasons she didn't quite know, he tried to force himself on her. Obviously she fought back, he shed blood and attacked her harder.
That was enough to set her off and nearly kill him before she drank some of his blood due to the 'recoil' of having to restrain and hold herself back all the time.
When Naruto found her, well, she did attack him out of fear of him potentially there to hurt her - which he didn't blame her as the world was against her due to the seemingly friendly guy who she attacked controlling the narrative more or less.
He survived, obviously, due to UnDead which surprised and scared her some more but he did his best to show he wasn't a danger to her.
Through talking, and a bit of bonding due to having somewhat 'gorey' quirks, that was how he learned her story and took the steps to confirm what she told him with UnTruth during several testimonies via a one-way mirror that Toshinori pulled some strings to let him watch.
It was a bit of a mess when it came to helping her get out of trouble, even for Toshinori to help with his 'All Might' pull but Toshinori trusted him and did his best with Naruto and Himiko did the rest by behaving.
Essentially on probation as, with the teen she attacked confessing to attacking her first and trying to force himself on her, her 'crime' more just became just her using her quirk on him in a harsh way.
She was made to go to some therapy sessions, which she begged for him to be by her side for due to her bad experiences in 'quirk counseling', and over time she was gradually able to be more at ease about herself and her quirk which he occasionally used UnTruth to confirm with her permission.
Currently, she was finishing up middle school in a private academy to help her be out of the public eye since people still harassed her though, for the most part, it had stopped and she had a lot of friends who often came over to hang out or spend the night.
He was seriously happy for her.
The second girl was Manami Aiba who, despite standing at only three foot seven and three fourths' inches - something she was very insistent about adding when talking about her height - was actually older than the both of them at 21 years old.
While Manami might look young height wise her figure was quite, if he was being honest, adult with how curvy she was. Hourglass was honestly the best way to describe her with a small waist and a sizable butt and a very sizable chest.
She was incredibly cute with what could best be described as raspberry colored hair that was always done in two large high pigtails that were a bit poofy at the top and tapered down skinny near the ends. Her eyes were large and pink with two concentric purple circles on her irises with thick eyelashes and a bit of dark circles around her eyes that tended to stick around for her.
How he met Manami was by sheer chance as it was late at night back when he had just recently moved into the house and was rushing to the store for some food. On the way there he had noticed a young looking girl alone and walking into a nearby abandoned construction site.
His instincts had told him something was wrong, it was hard to explain but with the almost dead look in her eyes he felt something was about to happen. He quickly followed after her and, by the time he found her, she was on the verge of walking off the fifth floor of the site.
Thankfully his speed, and the fact she didn't know he was there, allowed him to save her without any of them falling and he actually had to hold her back as she struggled to get free so she could jump.
It took a while for her to calm down and even longer for her to tell him why she had tried to jump with it all stemming from rejected love and harsh bullying.
She told him how at the beginning of summer vacation back in her first year of middle school she had written a long love letter to a schoolmate of hers. After giving it she stuck around in hopes of seeing his reaction but instead only saw him mock her, calling her a stalker and ridiculing her amongst his friends.
It apparently didn't help that her body looked so kid-like in height and size.
The rejection and ridicule hit her really hard, sending her into deep depression where - for the next six years, revealing how she was currently 18 - she had become a recluse from society. She told him how nothing mattered to her anymore and she was here to end it, choosing this spot so her parents wouldn't be bothered with cleaning up or seeing her body.
He was seriously saddened by her story and really didn't know what to say or do so he did what he knew best - he was blunt but hopefully still kind.
He told her how the kid was an asshole for turning her down and being so heartless over it and he also told her how killing herself over one rejection in middle school was going too far as her whole life was ahead of her to find someone who could accept her. To end everything over one harsh rejection, in his words at the time, seriously stupid.
He went on to recall his poor luck with love, his love being utterly one sided and unrequited for the longest time since the girl he loved loved another despite the man she loved not caring for her at all. He pointed out how he didn't let that get him down, he kept at it trying to win her over and at points he felt he was getting closer before he had to 'move'. He told her how he didn't let that get him down as with a new home he knew there were chances at love down the line and new friendships and connections.
On one hand he could see that he was somewhat getting through to her but on the other he couldn't in good faith leave her side until he knew she wasn't likely to immediately try again….So again, he did what he knew best - being blunt.
Ignoring her protests he picked her up in a princess carry and carried her away from the construction site, simply telling her that he was going to show her that life was still worth living the best way he felt he could. He ended up taking her to a 24-hour arcade that he frequented and together they played games, he won prizes for her, and they even went in a few photo booths since he noticed the almost longing look she gave it - guessing that she had never been in one before.
He spent the whole night with her, neither of them noticing the time until the sun started to shine into the arcade. She didn't even notice the smile on her face until he pointed it out to her, seemingly surprising her as she had to feel her own face to check if it was true.
With that he reiterated his point how there was more to life worth living for, asking her if he had proven it to her before she surprised him with a tight hug, only a nod as her answer as he felt his shirt get wet from her tears.
All he could do was hug her back, rubbing her back gently before he realized she had passed out. It was a bit odd carrying her back to his house but given he didn't know where she lived, or even her name, it was the only option.
Of course he called Toshinori when he got home and stayed home from school to look after her but, when she woke up, he finally learned her names and then things got a tiny bit complicated as she was very adamant on wanting to stay with him.
Honestly he had no issues with it and, after hearing everything Toshinori couldn't bring himself to stop it either. Though, if she was to move it, they obviously had to tell her parents about it.
Though that 'complication' was quickly resolved as when they arrived at her home it seemed her parents were a bit at their wits end with her. Her recluse nature had seemingly exhausted them so to see her wanting to move out made them glad as it showed their daughter was 'recovering'.
There was of course a tearful moment that Naruto and Toshinori felt a bit awkward to be around for but Naruto was happy to see Manami smile and happy.
It didn't take long to bring her stuff over but, Toshinori made a stipulation that she had to do online school to make up for what she had lost out on during her reclusive period. She agreed on the spot and from there the rest was pretty much history and she had happily been living here for the last three years.
Over the years both Himiko and Manami had become very close and important to him, them being two of the very, very few people that knew the truth about him and his powers so having them throw something like this for him was always nice.
"Thanks you two but you seriously need to work on suppressing your giggles" he told them with a smile as he hugged them back.
"They both got too excited the moment they heard the door open, can't blame them" Toshinori said with a chuckle as he stood by the table.
"So, I take it by the banner I passed?" Naruto asked, motioning towards it with a smirk as Manami and Himiko continued to hug him.
"With flying colors. I asked if I could deliver the news myself without any need for any recording to save time and effort and they allowed it since I am your guardian. You passed with 85 villain points and 80 rescue points from all the robots you destroyed and all the testees you helped out who were struggling as well as that one girl you destroyed the gimmick for" Toshinori explained as he and everyone else were honestly surprised at his score but - unlike the others - Toshinori knew that Naruto was a warrior and still had all his skills engraved in him.
While Naruto wasn't the first in UA history to take down the gimmick he was the first to do so for purely a heroic reason rather than trying to 'earn points' or make a showing of power.
"Though, you aren't the only one who passed" he added with a smirk, getting a confused look from Naruto as he looked down at the two girls before Manami pointed to Himiko with a happy smile.
"No way? I didn't know you planned to take the exam!?" Naruto said in shock with a happy smile plastered across his face as he put his hands on her shoulders.
"I wanted to surprise you! I was able to get a hero to sponsor me to get UA to overlook my past and with almost two years of no issues and perfect behavior they allowed it" Himiko said with a happy smile, giggling a bit as he hugged her tightly with Manami joining in.
"Now, not to ruin the mood but we don't want the food to get cold, do we?" Toshinori asked, reminding them that there was a big table full of food waiting for them.
"Right, right, we need to celebrate after a tough exam" Naruto said with a smile as they walked over to the table and wasted no time in plating up and starting the meal.
"So, what did you score Himiko?" he asked, curious to see how well she did given how skilled she was with a knife and how she was able to erase her presence for stealth - both of which she learned during her time in hiding to protect herself.
"I scored 35 villain points and 40 rescue points, apparently I came in third for overall score by one point" Himiko said, giving a proud fanged smile as she flashed a peace sign as she was proud of her achievement.
"That's seriously amazing Himiko!" he said, a smile still stuck on his face as he was seriously happy and proud of her.
"Not as amazing as slicing the gimmick like you did! Toshinori brought me along to watch and it was so skillful!" Manami praised, getting him to rub the back of his head as he chuckled a bit - embarrassed a touch to be praised like that.
"I could see it from the area where I was fighting in and everyone's jaws dropped when you cleaved through it" Himiko said with a smile as they were able to see his blade of blood when he had sliced through it.
"Look, the gimmick probably has safeguards to keep from actually killing or seriously hurting anyone but I wasn't going to take the risk in case it didn't. I didn't do it to show off" he insisted, getting a smirk from Toshinori and a chuckle from the two girls.
"Don't worry, we all already knew that" Manami said with a smile as they all knew him the best and knew he didn't ever think twice when it came to helping people.
"He will definitely make for a great hero, I just know it" Toshinori said with a smile before Naruto held out his hand towards him.
"I can only hope but, now that I've passed, it's time to fulfill my promise about your quirk" Naruto told him, not being shy about talking about it in front of the others since they knew about it.
Toshinori figured if they could be trusted with the truth of Naruto's powers and his past then knowing about him and his quirk was also safe with them - plus with them all living in the same house it'd be impossible to hide realistically.
"Thank you for this Naruto, it puts me at ease to have it passed on to someone who can truly protect it" Toshinori told him as he plucked out a hair of his given his quirk was passed along through digesting the DNA of the holder - hair or blood being the two mediums used for it. "We should go out and train tomorrow to see how your body and powers react to my quirk" he suggested as Naruto took the hair and wasted no time in eating it, although he did shudder a bit at it before drinking some of his soda to get the taste out.
"Sounds good to me but for now, let's just eat and enjoy the celebration for passing since this is the beginning to everything" Naruto said as he lifted his glass in the air. "To passing, to UA, and to wherever we go from here" he declared, getting the others to raise their glasses and cheer as well.
Personally, when he first came here to this world, he wasn't sure how to feel about the idea of getting close to others or even becoming a hero but, as time went on, he felt the desire grow more and more.
This world wasn't perfect, no world was, but even now his goal was the same - a goal he shared with Toshinori, a goal for peace. Toshinori was the Symbol of Peace as All Might but with his injury he knew his time as the symbol was nearly done and he wanted Naruto to take his spot down the road.
Naruto, while there was a bit of pressure, felt he could do the job. He had nearly unified his last world, his gut telling him it would've all worked out after Kaguya was dealt with, so with all these powers and allies, he felt - this time - he truly could help this world.
Not like he could die trying so that had to mean he'd be able to succeed in the end, right?
-Chapter End-
Pairing: Naruto x Kyoka, Setsuna, Mei, Toga, Manami, Fuyumi, Moe
Maybe - Tsuyu, Nejire
!NOTICE! - Please read!
So, to clear things up I have 3 points to make that I hope clears up things
First off, no Izuku obviously since he wasn't mentioned whatsoever in this chapter, thought that was obvious that he isn't in the story given he wasn't mentioned whatsoever and Naruto is getting OFA. Writing two protagonists is very difficult and would hurt the story - I've tried to do it in the past and it ended up with Naruto coming across like he was along for the ride.
Second, Naruto's power isn't a quirk, it is the Negator powers from Undead Unluck which were granted to him by being at ground zero of an explosion powered by Kaguya and the Shinju - akin to a big bang in a sense. They are only "quirks" in the eyes of the world to explain/hide the truth from everyone as its easier to lie to the world than it is to explain some new unknown power as quirks only exist on BNHA's Earth and those born there
Lastly, Naruto doesn't have chakra - thought I made that clear through a few mentions this chapter but apparently wasn't clear enough. He lost it and the Bijuu in the explosion - his body was rewritten, hence why he can live without it. The Bijuu will reform in the Elemental Nations due to that being where they originated from and where the fragments of their chakra linger in the stump of the Shinju's tree that got cut down by Naruto and absorbed by Madara.
Hope that clears up the confusion
**Attention!**
I have officially started a discord server for my writing that anyone can join!
If you wish to join drop me a PM and I'll give you the link or you can ask alongside your review and I'll give it to you. Originally I was just gonna have the link here but that could be a tad bit dangerous if a troll got it or if someone I have blocked got it lol
Keep in mind people have access to channels with stuff equivalent to the tiers they are pledged to. BUT, even if you aren't pledged you have access to all the basic stuff of the server :)
Before I get to the story notes I would like to remind everyone I do have a pat reon which includes rewards like seeing progress updates, notifications to new stories I plan to do, voting polls, and early access to chapters before I post them on FF.
Simple go to pat reon and paste:
/user?u=4783680
At the end of pat reon's url and you'll find my page.
You don't get anything that everyone here won't get aka there will be no "pat reon exclusive stories" or things where I have to get a certain amount of money before I work on something as both of those are shitty practices.
It is solely "hey, you want to support me, a disabled unemployed writer who survives off my disability checks? Thanks, I appreciate it" and nothing more
I'm also doing something until I get back on my feet writing wise where Stage 3 get the same benefits as Stage 4 until the end of September 2022 so if you want to see me write live over Google Docs think about taking a look at my page as I'm trying to get past this funk I'm struggling from
So yeah, check it out if you want :)
*1 = Given Toga's birthday is in August, the exams happen in February and the school year starts in Spring and, she's introduced in chapter 57 as 16 years old it makes it where she'd be 15 at the start of the series.
I also edited her backstory a touch to make her a bit more sympathetic, nothing too crazy I feel
Why give Naruto the Negator powers? How does he have them? Well I chose them cause they are a set of powers I really like and BNHA was the only real world I can see them working interestingly in (other option was One Piece and that just doesn't click nearly nearly as much as BNHA to me) and as for 'how' - the way I see it, the explosion of the Shinju and Kaguya would be way stronger than Kaguya's attack that Zetsu said would destroy a whole dimension of hers – so it'd be akin to maybe a Big Bang more or less, so being so close to that could set him 'outside' the rules of the world you know?
Just felt it was interesting and a fun idea as I can see Naruto, who thinks up plans on the fly, would use the powers interestingly
Also, just a bit of heads up for the future, when it comes to Naruto regenerating with UnDead I'm going a bit of an Oda route with how he does things when it comes to Devil Fruits and clothing. Naruto's clothes and items on him will regenerate on his new body - that way I don't have to write Naruto getting redressed all the time and won't have him being nude all the time you know? Just let me have this one thing please lol
It'll only apply to basic clothing, not stuff like his sword or anything akin to a metal gauntlet he might put on to amp up his Parts Bullets attacks, that kind of stuff needs to be retrieved but everything else like his arm guards, shin guards, utility belt - those will all regenerate on him as i feel those aren't too extraneous like a metal gauntlet or sword.
With Himiko and Manami these changes I felt were ones that could work you know? Helping people in need is a 'change' I can easily see happening with Naruto. Plus I feel bad for both of them and really like them so I can't help but want to help them like this.
Overall, the way I see it, if changes aren't caused due to Naruto then it's just a retelling - just like how I swapped out Uraraka for Kyoka during the exam. Though some things stay the same like with Bakugo as it'd just feel odd if Bakugo wasn't super combative and whatnot towards the main character lol.
Plus you know, if Naruto met Bakugo, they'd class given Bakugo's shitty personality.
I have a lot of things planned for this story so I'm excited to work on it, especially since UnDead UnLuck has become one of my serious top fave manga series
I hope you all liked it
Until Next Time
