Greetings friends! Welcome to a story that was actually meant to be written differently that my previous story A Vytal Destiny. In this story, I am gonna try to make this as canon as possible with the RWBY timeline, minus a few differences. This is a potential guess of what might happen in the future volumes of RWBY, and even the ending of the series. So please, keep the negativity to yourselves and keep it clean. Anyway, now that we have that taken care of, onto the story.

Betrayed…left for dead…those are the feelings Ash Ketchum has faced shortly after he became Alola's very first Pokémon League champion. He along with his Pokémon, or rather his former Pokémon Pikachu, Rowlett, Incineroar, Melmetal, Lycanroc, and Naganadel were there for him when he needed it after he won.
That was…until one fateful day six years ago.
Six Years ago
Ash gotten his trophy and he and his Pokémon gotten their pictures taken and they made history. Ash at long last accomplished his goal. The Alola League at Manalo Stadium was where it all changed for the worst.
Ash had learned that his old friends have arrived to see him. What they didn't expect was that he was now dubbed champion. They spread terror amongst the stadium. Ash knew they were after him. He gave Kukui his Pokémon, minus Pikachu, for safekeeping.
"Why is this happening!?" Ash yelled while avoiding the damages.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu yelled, saying that he had no idea.
They ran towards where his friends were at as they tried to fight off the traitors. His friends he met at the Pokémon School.
"Ash, you need to get out of here!" Mallow yelled as they ran to him.
"Go!" Kiawe yelled as he shoved him back.
"But Kiawe what about you guys!?" Ash yelled.
"GO!" Kiawe screamed and shoved him harder. Ash ran the opposite direction.
Ash and Pikachu made their way towards the docks. Lusamine and Wicke were waiting by a boat.
"Ash, come on! Come on!" Lusamine yelled.
Ash ran towards the boat. They were almost there when they saw a familiar Dragonite flying right at them. Ash dodged it, however Pikachu slid off of him.
"Are you okay!?" Ash yelled in concern for Pikachu.
"Pika!" Pikachu said as it got up and climbed back onto his shoulder. Suddenly, the same Dragonite snatched Pikachu and was flying off. "PIKA PI!" Pikachu screamed as he was being flown away.
"PIKACHU NO! USE THUNDERBOLT!" Ash screamed at the top of his lungs. Sadly, Pikachu couldn't hear him.
"ASH BEHIND YOU!" Wicke screamed.
Ash looked and saw an Aerodactyl flying right at Ash. He didn't have much time to react when it grabbed Ash and flew.
"NO!" Lusamine screamed as she and Wicke saw Ash being grabbed and flown away.
With Ash, also experiencing déjà vu, he tried to break free from its grasp. Just then, the Aerodactyl tossed him from a high altitude, causing him to fall.
Meanwhile in the Hall of Origin, Arceus was seeing all of this happen in the Jewel of Life. He was furious that this was happening.
"JIRACHI!" He screamed, summoning the legendary Pokémon that is said to grant wishes. Jirachi appeared and looked at the Alpha. "Ash is in danger! Quick, get him here!" He ordered.
"Yes sir!" Jirachi said as its wish tags began to glow.
Back with Ash, he closed his eyes and was ready to accept his fate. Just then, he began to glow and he vanished.
"What the!? Where is he!?" Max yelled in confusion as he and the other traitors saw him disappear.
"It doesn't matter. He's gone and now the Pokémon League is destroyed. Who's the champion of Alola now Ketchum?" Misty asked with amusement now that Ash was gone.
With Arceus, he and the rest of the Creation Trio headed off towards Remnant, and they were right above the remains of Manalo Stadium. Arceus screamed and the Pokémon halted while they looked up at Arceus. Arceus's anger grew as his body began to glow and an orb began to form just above his head.
"You have brought danger to this land and nearly killed the Chosen One! Prepare for justice and your judgement!" Arceus yelled as he grunted and fired the ball into the air. It then exploded as energy balls fell on top of the remains of the stadium. Dialga was using Draco Meteor, Palkia was using Aura Sphere and Giratina was using Dragon Pulse.
The traitors saw the attacks coming to them, and they had no choice but to flee. The Creation Trio may have brought ruins to the already destroyed stadium, but their Chosen One was safe at the Hall of Origin.
Back in the Hall of Origin, Ash was sitting on the ground completely shaken up. He has been in a near death experience that will haunt him for years to come. Jirachi was right by him to act as comfort.
After a while, the Creation Trio arrived back in the Hall of Origin.
"Ash, are you alright?" Arceus asked.
"No! I am NOT alright! Why did this happen!? Why me!?" Ash yelled.
"You must try to calm down Ash. You are at least lucky that the creatures of Grimm cannot come here, otherwise you would be the perfect main course." Dialga said.
"That's very reassuring." Ash said while getting up. "Thanks for the rescue by the way. I owe you all one." Ash finished.
"You're thanks is all we really need Ash. Now then, it appears that theses traitors are after you now. I believe that the time has come for you to be more protected." Arceus said.
"Lord Arceus, with all due respects, I dropped out of my Huntsmen Academy long ago. I choose to follow in my father's footsteps and become a Pokémon Trainer." Ash said.
When Ash turned ten years old, he of course got his Pokémon license. However, he was also taking part of a Huntsmen Academy called Oak Academy, which was of course, ran by Samuel Oak himself. Oak knew that Ash wanted to drop out to become a Pokémon Trainer instead because he didn't see himself a Huntsman. Oak agreed and Ash went on to be a Pokémon Trainer. He did however recommend that he keeps training himself physically in case he came against the Grimm.
Over his travels, he did unlock his aura and discovered his semblance. His semblance was that of his ancestor, Sir Aaron himself, semblance. He dubbed it Aura Sense, which gives him the power to sense all life energy all around. He can use his aura as a weapon, shield, telepathy, a bit of telekinesis, and as a lie detector. To keep himself and Pikachu protected by the Grimm, he was given a katana that he can turn into a semi-automatic rifle. He called it the Warrior's Heart. He taught himself Form IV Ataru and Form 5 Djem So.
He has gone from region to region to become a Pokémon Master. He seeks to continue in his father's footsteps and to hopefully one day find him. What he didn't know was that his father, Red Ketchum was dead. However, his blood ran through his son as a true Pokémon Trainer. He conquered many gyms, leagues, and more. Until eventually, he arrived at Alola where life would change him for both the worst and the best. He ended up losing his weapon from the chaos that had ensured shortly after he was crowned champion of Alola.
Arceus knew that he was more determined to continue with his journey.
"Very well. And to make sure of your safety, I present to you a gift. Behold." Arceus said as he used his powers to forge him a key shaped sword that had the markings of that of all Pokémon types put together. "This is called the Keyblade. This will protect you from the dangers that will come to you in the future. You will need it." Arceus added.

Ash took the Keyblade and it reacted to his touch, synchronizing itself to the power in his heart.
"Thank you Lord Arceus. I am in your debt." Ash said as he slightly bowed to the Alpha.
"Of course. Now then, you are to return to Remnant in an area you might not be fully familiar with to train yourself along with new Pokémon to prepare yourself for what will be coming in the future. The Keyblade will teach you everything you will need to know on how to harness its power. Beware however, that if you start doubting yourself, the Keyblade will sense it. You must be cautious of your upcoming actions." Arceus explained.
"I understand. Where is it that you will be sending me to?" Ash asked.
"The Giant Chasm in Unova. It is isolated from human population and it will serve as a spot for you to train both yourself and your new team that I will have you decide on. You must be cautious of the Grimm in the area. They will be attracted to you given the way things are. You are free to do as you wish with the Grimm, and the Pokémon there will aide you in your time in hiding." Arceus explained more.
Ash knew that this wasn't going to be easy; especially that he will have to remain on the down low. Once he bid his farewell after Arceus sent him to the Giant Chasm, Ash began his next six of preparations for when he will be ready to reemerge to the public.
Over those six years, he tracked down his new team that he will be training with. His first Pokémon was a Flygon that he found and rescued by poachers. The Flygon owed Ash his life and became his first partner and ace flyer.

The next Pokémon Ash found was a Gardevoir, or rather she found him. She sensed his emotions, and his growing depression. She joined him when many Grimm caught up with him and tried to kill him. She used her powers to eradicate them with ease. Ash accepted her as his team member. He was able to collect his old Mega Ring with a Key Stone and he obtains a Gardevoirite during his travels. His depression grew as he saw that most of his friends turning on him, and making him lose his throne and the league not even a whole hour of his greatest defeat. He had failed and it constantly got to him. The Gardevoir helps keep him in check to the best of her power.

There was a Pokémon that Ash rescued from an underground black market, specifically a Rhyperior. The Rhyperior was able to tell Ash that there was more Pokémon that were being illegally traded and even sold to many. Ash and his Pokémon thwarted their plans and Ash was able to leave a tip to the police of their movements. After they were arrested, the Rhyperior decided to go with Ash.

During Ash's travels, he came across a pride of Pyroar under attack by the creatures of Grimm. Having no choice but to intervene, Ash and his Pokémon overpowered the Grimm and eradicating them. But alas, all but one member of the pride was killed. A lioness Pyroar mourned the death of her family and their leader. Hoping to one day become the strongest to combat any Grimm, she joins Ash she he can make her into a powerful queen of beasts.

The final Pokémon that Ash had with him was a Pokémon that was where Ash was hiding at in the Giant Chasm, a wounded Metagross. It took Ash some time to do so, but he eventually succeeded. The Metagross was in Ash's debt and it joined Ash's team.

Together they became a force to be reckoned with. They helped protect Lacunosa Town from the Grimm. They have been doing this for the six years that Ash has been in hiding. Ash dawns a cloak that makes him camouflage with the wilderness around the trees from head to toe, even covering his entire face so no one can see it.
One day in his fifth year of being in hiding, he noticed that the Grimm have not been invading the territory where Lacunosa Town was at. This was because a vicious and powerful cursed humanoid Grimm named Queen Salem was calling as many of her pets to one location where the ultimate battle would take place. Ash knew nothing about it as he just remained in hiding. Little does he know that this would mark the day when Salem met her final defeat, and a powerful Huntsman named Ozpin would finally be greeted by death as well.
As for the natives, they treated Ash like a guardian angel. No one has ever seen him, but when one tries, Ash's Pokémon would attack and drive them out. They believe that this was a spirit that protects the town. They call him the Spirit of the Giant Chasm.
Everything changed one day when destiny had come.
Flashback ends
Ash has been sensing the fears and horror in the people of Lacunosa Town. He knew that the Grimm were nearby and knew he had to take action. He put on his cloak and his facemask and went through the forest with his Pokémon close behind. He got a good look at the Grimm that was spreading terror in the town.
Ash pulled out Warrior's Heart and summoned Divine Elemental. He gave a howl that drew the Grimm to him. They were definitely interested in him by all the negative feelings that he has been given off for years. Both he and his Pokémon attacked the Grimm and took them out. Ash remained hidden in the trees while he fired off spells at the Grimm.
After the Grimm was destroyed, everyone at Lacunosa Town prospered. A kid who was celebrating looked towards the forest and gasped a bit. She saw Ash in his cloak watching from a distance.
"The Spirit of the Giant Chasm." She whispered.
Meanwhile at the Kalos region, the people of the International Police were hearing of these strange folklores that were coming from Unova. One of them was definitely interested. She had pale skin, lilac eyes and hair, which was in a ponytail. She wore a suit with a black tie, wore black gloves and black heels. This was Chief Anabel, former Frontier Brain of the Battle Salon of the Kanto Battle Frontier.
The International Police has been on the search for Ash for the last six years from that fateful day. They were on the verge of potentially giving up on finding Ash, until Anabel learned about the legends going around Lacunosa Town.
"Chief, you think you found something?" Detective Looker asked as he joined her.
"There's something unusual coming from Lacunosa Town in Unova. This sighting of this 'spirit' and the way it saves the people from the Grimm sounds rather…familiar." Anabel said before going into thought. After a little bit, she turns towards Looker. "I'm going out there to investigate." She said.
"What about the tournament in Vale?" Looker asked.
Anabel smiled when he asked.
"That Looker I'm putting you in charge of setting up." Anabel said.
Looker gasped a bit before giving a salute.
"I will make my way to Vale immediately chief." Looker said.
"I'm counting on you Looker. Good luck." Anabel said before he left. "Captain, ready my ship for departure to Lacunosa Town." She said to said captain.
"Yes ma'am." The captain said.
After the preparations were complete, Anabel departed to Lacunosa Town in her own private bullhead. She had been thinking of Ash since that day when he vanished. She also never forgot about how he inspired her to keep fighting for her old position at the Battle Frontier as one of the brains.
Upon arrival to Lacunosa Town, she asked a couple people about this so called 'spirit.' Many told her about how it protects them from the Grimm. But when she asked the girl about the spirit, she pulled Anabel towards where she spotted it.
"There, that's where I saw the spirit. It's so magical and we've worshipped it for years now." She said to the chief.
"Thank you little one. I will take it from here." Anabel said as she was preparing to depart.
"I must warn you though." One of the citizens of Lacunosa Town said to her. "If you so much as try to find the spirit itself, you'll have a very, very difficult time tracking it down. Many have tried and failed. Many powerful Pokémon thrive throughout the chasm. If you seek to flush it out by force, the Pokémon will strike back without mercy." He said.
"Then it sounds like I got nothing to worry about. But I do appreciate the warning." Anabel said.
Anabel made her way towards the Giant Chasm. She thought to herself thinking if this was really Ash in disguise. There was something about that that was really getting under her skin. Why would Ash hide himself from the world like this in the first place if everything was settled all those years ago?
She entered the Giant Chasm and she proceeded with extreme caution. She looked around and saw the Pokémon wandering by and the trees were just slightly blowing with the wind.
Meanwhile, Ash and Grace were meditating inside a grotto in the middle of the chasm. Ash's other Pokémon were patrolling around to protect him. Ash sensed Anabel's presence, something he hadn't felt since his time at the Battle Frontier.
"A guest." Ash said when he opened his eyes. His Pokémon heard him and looked ahead.
Back with Anabel, she stopped at a clearing.
"Hello!? Spirit of the Giant Chasm!? If you are here, will you please give me a sign!?" She called out. Suddenly, Anabel heard a roar coming from nearby. She saw Granite running right at her. "NOT WHAT I MEANT!" She screamed with fright.
She attempted to flee, but was stopped and tripped by a powerful Stomp caused by Granite. It caused a bit of a quake that made her lose balance.
Ash opened his eyes and got up. He summoned Divine Elemental and saw Anabel. He used the Keyblades power to turn it into a whip and lunged it at her from a distance. The whip latched itself around her waist and he yanked her towards him. She screamed and she felt something catch her.
"My apologies for his behavior…Anabel." Ash said as they made eye contact.
"ASH!?" Anabel screamed with shock when he put her down.
"It has been many years." He said. Anabel hugged him tight and she didn't want to let go. "Loving the new look though." Ash said as he gently held her.
The both of them went into the grotto where Ash made a little fire with his Keyblade. Grace used her powers to keep it in its place.
"Ash, you have no idea how happy I am to see you." Anabel said as she sat across from Ash and Grace on a stump.
"What are you doing here anyway? I thought you were busy with the Battle Salon." Ash said.
"Times have changed for me. I now work with the International Police in Kalos. Things have been very successful for me, plus my ability has been ever the more useful with work." She answered.
"Well, you seem to be doing well." He added.
"As for me being here, I heard the rumors of the 'spirit' that was lurking around the Giant Chasm. I decided to look more into it." Anabel answered his other question.
"You have your answer now. Anabel, while I am happy to see a familiar face that I can trust, I must ask that you not reveal me to the world." Ash demanded.
"Why!? The world is looking for you! Can't you see that yo-" Anabel was yelling until Grace got up and used her powers to great a Moonblast.
'GET AWAY FROM HIM!' Grace shouted.
"Grace…it's okay. She's not like them." Ash said to her. Grace looked at Ash for a moment, and looked back at Anabel for a brief moment and she finally canceling out her attack. "My apologies, she can be very protective with me. Then again, she did find me years ago." Ash added.
Anabel was petrified that a Pokémon would pull such a stunt on her. It took her some time, but she calmed down.
"Right. Anyway, I think I might have a solution for you. There is a Pokémon Tournament out in the Kingdom of Vale where they will be celebrating the defeat of Queen Salem a year ago tomorrow. The first ever champion of Alola will need to see their winner back in public. I…want to see you back." Anabel begged.
"Lord Arceus himself sent me here to become a stronger and better protector. I failed to do anything about what happened. I lost everything that day, including Pikachu. Not to mention the deaths that happened." Ash said while looking down. Grace held his shoulder with concern.
"Yeah about that." Anabel said with a small smile. Ash looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "There were no deaths that day. Sure a few went missing, but Pikachu is the only one that is still missing. The only thing we can guess is that the traitors took him." Anabel said.
Ash sensed what she was saying. He knew that Anabel was someone that wouldn't lie unless if it was necessary. She wasn't lying at all. Hope may have grown for him a bit.
Meanwhile, Anabel was using her ability, or her semblance to read his heart.
Semblance Analysis
Anabel: Empathy
While this semblance has no combat purposes, this gives the user to sense the true feelings of a person's heart no matter how deep it is. While being able to sense their emotions, the user can even communicate with these psychic powers of the semblance.
She saw the pains from within. She began to sweat a bit when she saw depression.
"So what do you say? How about you join us in the tournament?" Anabel asks.
Ash thought about it, until he got up.
"Alright, you've convinced me. Let's head outside to tell the rest of my team." Ash said. When the three of them left the grotto, Ash whistled for the rest of his team. "Alright everyone, the time for hiding is finally over. Our skills will be put to the test in a Pokémon Tournament out in Vale. Now who's with me?" Ash asked them.
All of his Pokémon cheered as they were in agreement. Ash returned them and places the balls on his belt.
"Thanks Ash. I can get you to Vale whenever you're ready." Anabel said.
"Sure…are you okay?" Ash asked as he noticed that she was now feeling more uneasy.
"You're hurt Ash…you haven't." Anabel was now getting more concerned while looking at his arms. Ash held his left arm and backed away. It finally hit her hard that he at this stage of depression and she hugged him tight. "Please, don't kill yourself. I am here to help." Anabel sobbed as tears came out of her eyes.
The both of them exited the Giant Chasm when Anabel calmed down. They got onto the bullhead and Ash sat right across from Anabel.
"So what kind of tournament am I participating in?" Ash asked.
"This is a Tag Team theme tournament. You'll be assigned a random participant that will act as your partner. Each of you will have two Pokémon to use for each battle. When one side loses all four of their Pokémon will be defeated. In the final battle of the tournament, the tag team will face off against each other." Anabel explained.
"It has been some time since I've been in a tournament such as that. Back when me and an old acquaintance of mine took part in it as partners." Ash said.
"Precisely. There is one big thing that I need to alert you about. The traitors will be participating as well." Anabel stated. That sentence made Ash's blood boil, and Anabel caught on to that. "If it makes you feel any better, we will make absolute sure you are not paired up with them, and my security will keep them in check. I give you my word that you will be paired up with someone that will help you." Anabel finished.
Ash calmed down a bit, but was still a bit feisty about the idea of the traitors that took everything away from him years ago was going to be there as well.
"You wouldn't happen to know about what has become of my mother Delia Ketchum would you?" Ash asked.
Anabel smiled when he asked.
"Your mother is safe and by the time you register, she'll know that you're okay. If you'd like, we can bring her to Vale so you two can catch up." Anabel offered.
"Okay. Just make sure that the traitors stay away from her." Ash said with a bit of demand in his voice.
"I promise you that." Anabel said.
The flight to Vale will be sometime for Ash. Ash has agreed to take part in this tournament and hopefully he'll make some new friends that will help him move on from his past and prove to everyone that he really is a champion that was robbed of his future. How will things go to just before the tournament? Will Ash feel welcomed? Will this story be about as good as A Vytal Destiny? Find out when the tournament begins as the story begins.
Well this is it. I know that this was pretty straightforward like any Ash gets betrayed story, but I cannot wait to get into the tournament in Vale. Get ready to see how things will play out as The Ashes of Pain begins and Ash's journey to prove that he is a champion and he will make the traitors pay!
