I do not own Harry Potter.
The chapters will be short but I promise to update quickly.
I think I have hinted at the pairings but It is going to be mostly about the Draco/Astoria/Padma with a wholesome sprinkle of Harry/Daphne and Hermione/Ron.
Please have no mercy on me, Imagine I am your high school bully when ripping this apart.
Harry Potter was having a very odd day.
Harry Potter's desk was tucked away in one of the small nooks in the Auror's office. He was in charge of two things, Minor Misdemeanor and hunting Death Eaters, well technically the death eaters tried to hunt him but he made a great bait.
He didn't mind it, He was used to being hunted by gits and he needed the practice. The lordship of the Black Family had been unfairly thrust on him. He now had to face the numerous attempts of pureblood families to tie him in my unholy matrimony.
He needed a wife, He didn't want love, just someone decent enough to leave him alone after robbing him, He had asked Hermione to find him a wife, He had been joking but she had taken to it a dangerous amount of zeal and tried to find him one. What he didn't expect was for Padma Patel to turn up asking him about it.
Padma Patel looked tired. They were deep dark circles under her eyes. She held herself in a languid manner, Her body loose as if she barely had the energy to hold herself, Masteries were supposed to be tiring but he hadn't expected the energetic girl from Hogwarts to have all the life snuffed out of her. She was just staring at the parchment she had brought.
She flashed him a brief smile.
"I don't expect this relationship to be real, Harry. I want to work under Wolff. It is fairly unheard of to switch masters but Wolff is very much like Slughorn and your surname would help me get in. I don't think you will even hear from me, I will not even be in the country."
He grimaced, He didn't really want to deal with someone like Slughorn. He wondered if he would have to attend the Wolffclub. He was too old for this shit. Padma appeared to be reading his thoughts.
"Wolff is rather private, you will not be forced to add to your social obligations."
Harry quickly pulled up his occlumency defenses. Padma had the decency to blush.
"I am sorry, It is a force of habit." She explained.
So she was reading his thoughts but before Harry could decide if he should be offended or amused, their little meeting was interrupted by Draco Malfoy.
In an ideal world, Draco Malfoy would be unemployable but Narcissa Malfoy had cut a deal with the minister which bolstered his position for a small bargain of gainfully employing her cad of a son. Harry had the pleasure of working with him, He was an asshole but a professional one. He had however kept his distance and never tried to speak to him when all they ever had needed was a letter.
"Potter. Our department wants the report on the Norris case. Please send it over." Malfoy said, A letter would have sufficed he thought to himself.
Padma was the one who responded first, it was as if Malfoy's presence had woken her up. She sat straighter and turned towards him.
"Malfoy," she whispered.
"Patel." Malfoy fidgeted for a second staring at the floor. "
Have you completed your mastery?"
Padma looked away. " Horner has not been as insightful as I expected, I am planning to continue my mastery with Wolff."
"Wolff" Draco repeated slowly.
"Padma, please stop wasting your time."
Padma glared at him. " We are not having this discussion, Malfoy," She snapped.
"Congratulations on your engagement with Tori."
Draco paled a little. "Thank you" He murmured, his words lacked his usual confidence.
"I will send it to you later this evening."
Harry interjected wanting to relieve some of the tension in the air. It worked, The pair seemed to realize that they were both arguing in front of him.
Padma turned towards him.
"I am sure you are busy, Harry. Please take your time to think about it." She said before getting up.
Malfoy watched her walk out of the office. He didn't take his eyes off her while she walked away.
"Please don't marry her, Potter." Malfoy sighed before leaving.
Harry Potter couldn't help but notice the tension between them but it was none of his business and He need to get on that damn Norris report.
