Major General John Sheppard, today, just John, opened the fridge. He grabbed a beer in one of the packs and closed the fridge. The door was covered by pictures of the O'Neill-Carter family and magnets brought back from places the family visited. John looked to the bay window while twisting off the cap.

Cameron Mitchell was enthusiastically chatting with Sam Carter's niece. Certainly detailing one of these not confidential missions that he achieved as a fighter pilot twenty plus years ago. Walter Harriman and Evan Lorne were listening, sometimes a bit lost, whereas Maryanne looked passionate as she was a fighter pilot. Rebecca Wayland was playing with her baby girl, with Cassandra Fraiser and her family, Eileen McKinson, and Michael Galvez. The little one was smiling, making her public melt. Ronon Dex and Teal'c were helping Akira Sakai set up the barbecue. Many other fellows from the Stargate Program, past and present, were chatting in different parts of the garden. All seemed happy to be there. John smiled and walked to the living room. He found Jack, Sam, Daniel Jackson, and Rodney McKay seated on the sofas separated by a low table. Jack and Sam on one sofa, Daniel and Rodney on the other, the garden behind them. The four were watching TV and sipping beers, however, they looked concerned.

A heated debate was going on. "Stargate: Top Secret Program for 30 Years" was displayed in the headline at the bottom of the screen.

"This program must be shut down," a man proclaimed.

"I don't think it's a solution, Jeremy," a woman disagreed.

"Why are you torturing yourselves?" John teased.

The people on the sofas looked at him but nobody responded, thus, he continued, "How bad is it?"

"Lots of people don't share your opinion, Dorothy," Jeremy responded.

"I suggest we have a look at it," another woman said.

Images of people demonstrating all over the world popped up. People in front of the White House were agitating "Liars!", "No more secrets!" posters. A woman, in London, requested that the program was overseen by the UN. A pacific gathering had turned into a fight between civilians and police in South America, in front of the US Embassy.

"The world hates us, except Thomas Warren," Jack said, pointing to the screen with his beer.

All watched back the television. There was an extract of Thomas Warren being interviewed by a journalist, at Warren Horizons' headquarters, in Colorado. The fifty plus year-old man was wearing an unconventional flashy green tie. The headline at the bottom was displaying: "Stargate isn't a curse but an incredible opportunity." (T. Warren).

"Not surprising," Sam commented. "His company developed many systems for the Air Force and the other military branches. He bought a part of Colson Industries a few years after the Colsongate."

"I recall him coming to one of my conferences, before I met Catherine Langford. Warren Horizons foundation supports initiatives related to archeology," Daniel revealed.

Sam suddenly looked thoughtful. "Have you ever thought about what you would be doing today if the program never existed? If the stargate was never found by Paul Langford?"

"We would have never been to Abydos. I'd be desperately trying to find evidences to prove my theory about Egyptian pyramids," Daniel admitted.

"I'd be working for Warren Horizons," McKay confided, making everyone look at him. Sam nodded as if she was thinking the same about her, had she left the Air Force. "But my colleagues would hate me," Rodney added, serious.

Sheppard raised his eyebrows, thinking about another way to word it. His former Atlantis fellow stared at him.

"No. It's true. I'd be such an asshole. My colleagues would hate me. I'd be kicked out." McKay glanced at the television to hear Thomas Warren's argument.

"I understand that people may be furious to learn that aliens tried to attack Earth. But let's be honest. We're ruining our own planet with our own actions, and this situation's not changing very much. Why would we be more shocked by aliens trying to destroy us? I'm proud..."
