MIDTOWN MANHATTAN
Night had fallen on this busy island of over one point sixty-nine million people. Millions of lights had already begun to lid up and aluminate the borough. From the lights inside its tall skyscrapers to the streetlamps and traffic lights that filled the streets below. The roads were filled with millions of cars, and streets filled with millions of pedestrians of different races walking in the streets and going about their lives. And sitting perched on the ledge on the rooftop of one of the many buildings was the hazel-eyed, fair-skinned eighteen-year-old Peter Parker wearing what appeared to be a red cap over his brown hair. His body frame was lean but athletic as always, with his muscles showing in his red and blue spandex bodysuit, which still contained the black web patterned on the red portions such as his upper body, gloves, and boots, a black spider symbol on the chest and a large red spider on the back. And it was in this suit that he protected this city as its self-proclaimed Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
"Ah, New York City," thought the smiling Peter, feeling relaxed as he always like how the lights always made the city look beautiful at night. "If only it was as peaceful down there as it is up here." Feeling that he's had enough sight-seeing, Peter placed both hands on both sides of the cap and pulled it down over his face, which revealed that it was his trademark mask with the same web-patterned, and with two eyepieces with pointed black rims and white two-way lenses. With his Spider-Man guise now completed, Peter stood up as he prepared to display another extraordinary power he vowed to use responsibly, his power of invention, which he used to make 'improvements' to his eyepieces. Specifically, the left piece acted as a Bluetooth to pick up internet connections, and the right piece was designed to locate radio frequencies. "Okay, time to focus! Time to see if the modifications in my eyepieces work, and hopefully not a waste of a good chunk of money I spent on the materials didn't go to waste." With this in mind, Peter used his index finger to press the top button on his right eyepiece. "Now if I can just find the police banner…"
The first broadcast involved a deep but chipper male voice. "Did you know that you could be paying too much for car insurance? It's true if you're over thirty-five-."
Peter let out a scoff upon hearing this commercial. "Okay, not that one," he said dismissively, then pressed the button for the next frequency.
The next channel involved rock music, with the lead singer having an overly exaggerated singing voice. "Now you're a man! A man, man, man -."
"Nuh-uh."
The next channel contained music but was part of the smooth, easy-listening variety. And this time, there were more singers, both male and female. "Skyrockets in flight, Afternoon delight-."
"Nope."
The next channel had no music and, much like the first, appeared to be an advertisement, with the male voice sounding a bit younger and more enthusiastic. "Guys, are you having trouble giving your girl the night of her life? Well then, let me tell you about Testosterbro! Just one pill can give you the drive to make her-!"
"WHOA!" Peter exclaimed, knowing what the announcer was implying, and quickly switched to the next channel.
"All units, pursuit in progress," said a female officer's voice, indicating that Spider-Man had finally reached the police banner.
Something that made Peter smile as he let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank God!"
"I repeat, pursuit in progress. Back up requested," the officer continued. "Any officers in NoMad, please respond."
Having heard what he needed to hear, Peter turned to the right and pointed his arm out in that direction. "Note to self," Peter thought. "Fix the channel problem after you fix the NoMad problem." The readied Peter used the tips of his middle and ring finger to quickly double-tap a secret button underneath his glove and over his palm, which caused a liquid to spray out of a nozzle over his wrist. Once it made contact with the air, it hardened into a line composed of a web-like substance. The end of the line soon hit and instantly stuck to the top corner of a nearby roof, which allowed Peter to jump up and swing off the roof he was on and used his other arm to shoot another line mid-swing. He repeated this process to utilize his 'web-swinging' method of travel and proceeded his way to NoMad to join in on the chase.
