Entry 1: The Newest Tutor

September 8th: Morning

Inside a high rise building, I was standing stern and at the ready. Reading off the words on the page in front of me had become a routine that had to be done with intense formality. The man listening to me must feel the same, though most likely bored. It was almost always the same, just long winded ways of saying- "So in conclusion, nothing much has happened and the arrangements have gone off without a hitch. The only issue..."

"What is it? What are the issues with my daughters?" The man sitting in front of me looked deadly serious. Well to be fair, he always does. Maruo Nakano is a stern looking man with stark black hair and permanently glaring eyes. He always wore the same black suit and looked to be in late thirties at most. Pretty young for a father of five girls who were in high school.

"It has nothing to do with your daughters, Sir. There seems to have been a recent incident in Kamurocho involving the... Yakuza that could cause trouble. It is nothing to worry about at the moment but, should a war break out, it will be difficult for us to protect the Nakanos to our full capacity. Especially with the Dragon of Dojima being retired. " I calmly explained to the man. He takes a deep breath, seemingly taking the news in a good light. "It may be possible that the-"

"I don't care about whatever happens in the underground world. I pay you and your organization to protect my daughters, and that is what you will do. YOU will protect them no matter what happens to the rest of your organization, understood?" I had to be honest, this was a better reaction than what I had expected. Usually should anything go slightly wrong he would fly off the handle, but for now he's calm. As calm as he can get, considering.

"Understood. It is the Library's mission to protect as many people as it can after all." I bow to the man before remembering the last part of my report. "Oh yes, it almost slipped my mind. We did a background check on your tutor, Fuutarou Uesugi. He's as clean as a whistle. Nothing more than a little rebellious phase a couple years ago."

"Very well. He better be good, your job depends on it." My employer stood up from his desk and walked to the window, looking out into the town. "You should head to school, the girls are waiting for you downstairs. Protect them with your life, Ogata."

"Yes Sir." With that, I gave the man one last bow and exited the room to quickly enter an elevator. Just as he said, on the ground floor, right on the street was a car with a certain girl with long brown hair leaning against it. "Good Morning, Lady Miku. I apologize for my report taking so long."

This was Miku Nakano, one of the five girls I'm assigned to protect. She has long brown hair with strands that fall onto her face, blue headphones wrapped around her neck and, like all of her sisters, bright blue eyes. She's wearing a black and white school uniform that matched her black stockings at the moment as her new school uniform still hasn't arrived.

"Will you ever stop being so formal, Kuro... but good morning. How are you?" My client gave me a soft smile that helped relax me from the tense meeting I was just in.

"Thank you for asking, I'm fine. Is everyone already in the limo? I hope I'm not the reason why we are late on our first day." Not only was it my job to be their body guard, but because these girls are usually disorganized, it's my job to make sure they show up to places on time. My brother had called me more of a butler than a bodyguard. That thought pisses me off... but he's not wrong.

"Hm? Yeah, I just wanted to wait for you."

"I see..." Something about that made me feel strange.

"Are you sure you're okay? Your face has gotten all red."

"I'm fine, just a little stressed. Let's hurry now."

Same Day: Afternoon (Before Lunch Period)

Asahi high school, the new school that the girls and I have been transferred to. From the outside it looks like a generic high school in my opinion but it's better than the last school. Beforehand, the girls were sent to a girls school. A school that I obviously couldn't enter as a student. So, of course, I was forced to be a janitor for a while. "Annoying..." I whispered under my breath. While the job wasn't so bad, it led me to the conclusion that it wasn't just the Nakano's who could make a mess so quickly. Girls are scary, huh.

"Hey, idiot, are you paying attention?!" A familiar voice whisper-yelled at me. I turned to my side to see Lady Nino Nakano. She had long reddish-pinkish hair and was currently glaring at me with the same blue eyes that Lady Miku had smiled at me with this morning. Like her sister, she was also wearing her old school uniform but placed some butterfly pins on her collar that matched the ribbons in her hair. "Hey, are you awake or not?"

"I apologize, Lady Nino, I was thinking about something. How may I help you?" I was sitting next to her this year it seemed. While the five sisters and I transferred here at the same time, it was impossible for us to be placed into the same classroom. So luckily for me, I was placed into the class with the sister that chastises me the most. Well, at least it's fun quipping with her.

"Tell me the answer to question number ten! Hurry up." We were currently doing an independent math assignment, so when I looked at the question I internally cringed. This is basic algebra, it's a free point Nino. "Hey, I can tell you're judging me!"

"I would never do that, Lady Nino. The answer is Q=5." I was but if I let her know that, I'd earn a verbal lashing from her later. While I knew that the Nakano sisters weren't the sharpest tools in the shed, I didn't expect it to be THIS bad. Now I knew why Sir Mauro wanted to find the perfect tutor for them ASAP, at any cost. With the newest one coming to the apartment tomorrow night. About that...

"Hmph, took you long enough." When Nino went back to her assignment, I took out my phone from my pocket and checked the messages from the contact U-N.

U-N: Sights on target now. Nothing unusual other than excessive studying. Continue surveillance?

Me: Are the sisters okay? If so, continue surveillance.

U-N: No changes in the status of the rest of the Nakano sisters. Continuing surveillance of Uesugi.

"Alright." After communicating with my compatriot, I moved back to my assignment, ignoring the slight glare that I could feel coming from Nino.

And so, class went on without a hitch and lunch had begun. "I'm going." Without another word, Nino walked out of the classroom, ignoring all of the students who were going to try to introduce themselves to her and leaving me alone.

Sure enough, the students weren't as interested in introducing themselves to a gloomy guy like myself as a cute girl like Nino Nakano. After texting U-N one last time I went about my own goal, mapping the school in my head. While it seems a bit excessive to be going so far just to protect five high school girls, unfortunately for them the Nakano name does have a target on it's back. By the Arakawa family of the Omi Alliance themselves at that.

Maruo Nakano was a fool for how he pissed off the Arakawa, but I was not here to judge. I'd done all my judging five years ago when I first got this assignment. It is the Library's mission to protect fools from the underground, no matter how foolish they are. So of course one of the people I was protecting had stopped me from mapping out the school. "Kuro! There you are!" Yotsuba Nakano's voice yelled from the other side of the hallway I was walking though. Unlike Miku or Nino, Yotsuba had short orange hair she held in a green bow that stuck out like rabbit ears, and she seemed to have a permanent smile on her face. "How ya doin?! How does it feel to no longer be the Ghost Janitor of Black Rose?"

"Please do not bring up that nickname here, Lady Yotsuba. Even someone like me can feel embarrassed." The girl's only response was a small giggle at my embarrassment. I'm surprised she can say that name so easily now. "How are you? Any issues so far?"

"Aww, you're going into full bodyguard mode. Come on, you're like the only person here besides my sisters that I know. Don't be so formal..." Yotsuba gave an exaggerated pout and forced out a couple tears.

"I see, I understand. Would you want to have lunch with me, Lady Yotsuba?"

"Hehe! Yay!" Over the years I'd learned a few things about each of the sisters, one of them being that Yotsuba is surprisingly more lonely than her personality lets on. "Your treat right?"

"Of course. Just don't break the bank."

Same Day: Evening

"I'm starving..."

"Just give me ten more minutes Lady Itsuki, the steak just needs to rest." I was currently standing in the large kitchen of the Yotsuba residence, changing out of a school uniform into a dark blue button down shirt with some comfortable dress pants. Today, it was my turn to cook so I was wearing a pink apron over my clothes. Ignoring my dress, I regained focus on making a NY steak with some Yakisoba. A strange combination to be sure, but Lady Itsuki is known for her strange taste.

"Hurry up... please." Itsuki was the only one sitting at the dinner table, the rest of the girls were in their rooms relaxing. Itsuki is the most gluttonous sister here. She has long red hair and star pins in her hair. At the moment she was just in her pajamas but was constantly wiping away the drool that was coming out of her mouth. I have to say the contrast between this and her normal serious attitude had to be what Subaru referred to as 'Gap Moe'. Finishing the yakisoba, I plated the food onto five plates, making sure one had a larger portion than the rest. After the steaks had rested, I cut them, plated them and handed the plate with the largest portion to Lady Itsuki.

"Here you are. I hope you enjoy it." Her blue eyes began sparkling as she took a bite from the plate. She cupped the right side of her face and smiled as she chewed.

"Delicious!" I sure hope so, your requests for dishes have to be the strangest part of this job. "Ahhh, your food is always delicious Kuro! Amazing as always!" I took pride in my cooking. It was the first thing that Itsuki and I bonded on, so I always made sure to improve it. "You could seriously become a cook! Quit your bodyguard job and become our cook!"

"I'm glad you like it. But, I'm already practically your cook. I cook four times a week here." I answered as I went on and knocked on each of the girls' rooms. Making sure to say, "Dinner's ready." as I walked along. "As I was saying, Lady Itsuki, I'm practically your butler rather than a bodyguard." It hurt to say but it was true.

"I wouldn't say that..."

"I do your laundry, clean your rooms, cook, make sure you girls get places on time, hold your bags when you all do personal shopping, do all the grocery shopping, do you want me to continue?"

"Jeez, you make it sound bad, Kuro-chan!" I flinched when a hand gripped my shoulder. Sure enough it was Lady Ichika. She always was the most casual of the sisters at times like these. In others, it feels like she's actively trying to make my job impossible. "Looks good, hope it tastes nice too~"

"The guard's cooking is the only redeeming quality he has." Nino made sure to make a smug comment as she sat down and began to elegantly eat.

"Allow me to leave you to eat." I bowed to the girls, making sure to only do so after they've all sat to eat. "Have a good night, Ladies. Please do not be afraid to knock on my door should you need my assistance. "

"You should eat with us..."

"I've eaten enough while tasting the food. But thank you for the invitation Lady Miku."

"Alright...goodnight Kuro!" With Yotsuba's farewell, I bowed once more.

"Goodnight." And with that, I retired to my room to start making preparations for tomorrow. I hope Nino doesn't try to kill him like the last guy.

September 9th: Evening

School went on without a hitch, the only issues I'd seen was the fact that Fuutarou Uesugi had made contact with all of the sisters beforehand in awkward ways. It seemed as if he had argued with Itsuki and was trying to reconcile with her. But that shouldn't be a problem. So here I was, standing in front of the apartment building that the Nakano Sisters lived in. I was here to make sure that Uesugi could get to the apartment unencumbered. Both Nino and Miku were standing behind me with glares on their faces, surely their encounters with him didn't leave a good first impression on them.

When he appeared in front of the building I immediately recognized him. He looked exactly like the picture that U-S had taken during his investigation of him. Short brown hair with two hairs sprouting on top. A basic white shirt and black pants, the cheapest version of the new school's uniform and he was admittedly handsome. I couldn't help but to compare myself to him. Compared to his natural black hair, my dyed white hair stuck out like a sore thumb. Especially since I was wearing it in a short ponytail, contrasting his shorter hair. I was wearing a suit coat over my school uniform and I didn't really consider myself handsome. What does that have to do with this situation? Get serious here.

I walked to the shocked young man who made eye contact with me. "Fuutarou Uesugi, correct?" He nodded and took a step back.

"A-Aren't you the ghost of 2-5? What are you doing here?" I've already got a nickname? And why's it basically the same as the one at Black Rose? Don't tell me Yotsuba spread this to mess with me.

I let out a sigh. "My name is Kuro Ogata, I am currently the personal body guard of the Nakano family. I'm here to take you up for your tutoring session. Pleased to meet you, Sir Uesugi." Making extra sure to be professional, I closed my eyes and bowed to the man.

"Don't tell me you're seriously bowing to this stalker, are you?!" Nino yelled from behind me. "Kick his ass, he definitely followed us here! Kill em!"

Before Uesugi could respond to her accusation I spoke. "There must have been a mistake here. Sir Uesugi was not following you here, his movements did not match someone who was intentionally doing so."

"H-How did you know that?" The young man took another step back.

"As their bodyguard, my top priority has been to protect them. It's not even necessarily because of the job anymore."

"!" I heard a flinch behind me but ignored it, making sure to continue looking at Sir Uesugi in the eyes as I spoke.

"Either way, I've had eyes on you for the last week. You're trustworthy for now at least. So, please follow me." Uesugi stared at me for a second before nodding his head. "I suppose now would be a good time to introduce two of the people you will be teaching. This is Lady Nino and Lady Miku Nakano. Two of the Nakano Quintuplets."

"Q-Quintuplets?" He seriously didn't know they were related? Impressive idiocy from a prodigy.

And so... after introducing Uesugi to all of the sisters at the apartment, they all immediately retreated into their rooms and left me and the young man alone in the large living room. "W-Why is no one here?! Ogata, please tell me they're getting more comfortable."

"Unfortunately I expected this." I gave the man a glass of water and sat on the couch as he stood in despair. "The Nakano sister's are quite averse to studying. Although I feel like Lady Nino is staying in her room more to hold a grudge than hatred for studying. She can hold one for quite a long time." I should know.

"Lady this Lady that! Stop being so formal, Kuro!" Yotsuba ran through the large apartment with a notebook in hand and stood in front of Uesugi and I. "Jeez, you'd think after five years you'd stop being such a prude." Yotsuba ended her sentence with a pout.

"At this very moment my very existence is for the purpose of protecting you and your sisters, Lady Yotsuba. I apologize for being so formal, but I feel like I must be."

"I hate it when you say that..." Yotsuba whispered something before turning to Uesugi. "But, I'm here to study! Let's get along, tutor-kun!"

"Can I hug you?" Uesugi bounced out of his depression impressively quick and smiled at Yotsuba.

"I'd have to kill you, so don't." Uesugi flinched and bowed to me.

"My apologies, please spare my life." I chuckled to myself and waved him off. Allowing him to relax and look back at Yotsuba. "Wait...aren't you the one who got a zero?"

"Yup! So please make sure you save me from my stupidness!" At least she has a positive attitude about it.

"So it's just you huh... Ogata, are you sure it's alright? I don't think the person who hired me would be happy if only one of the sisters' grades improved."

"You're correct. However, it's probably for the best if you don't try to convince them yourself. I'm sure they'd just assault you with harsh words. You'd probably cry."

"Yes, I probably would. Please bring them here without sacrificing my soul." Uesugi deadpanned.

"Heh, Yes. Of course." As I walked away from the two, I began to understand why Maruo had hired him. He's the most down to earth tutor so far, hell he's actually made me laugh a couple times... Maybe we could be friends... Now I'm being idealistic.

I walked up the stairs and knocked on the first door in the row of five. Itsuki's room. "Lady Itsuki, if it's alright with you, could you come down and study with Sir Uesugi?"

The door opened a crack. At first she had a glare before it softened when she saw I was alone. "Sorry Kuro...but I don't think I can get along with that guy. Plus he's our age! Are there no good tutor's in this town?"

"Well you all have run through half a dozen." That did earn me a glare from her. "My apologies. But are you sure you can't set aside your differences just for this?"

"...Sorry Kuro. I can't... I'm really sorry." Itsuki looked down at her feet.

"Don't worry, Itsuki. It's alright. Next time then." I reassured her with a smile when she snapped her head to look up at me. "Ah, I mean La-"

"Thanks Kuro. And sorry again." Finishing our conversation, Itsuki closed the door with a smile. As I knew that I couldn't force her into coming down, I began to walk to Miku's room, skipping a room as that was the one Yotsuba slept in. Knocking on the door I announced myself.

"Lady Miku, could you come down and study with Uesugi and Yotsuba? If it's alright with you of course." This time, Miku opened the door fully. Her face was expressionless other than a small glare that slowly returned to a neutral expression.

"I won't go... that guy's the same age as us. It'll be a waste of time. Plus I'm sure he's a perv."

"Well, I don't know about his perverseness, but I'm sure it won't hurt to at least try studying with him. Every other tutor was older and far more professional, maybe someone our age would work. He takes the same classes as us so he knows the material." Miku pouted at my points. Clearly she knew that what I was saying made sense. "You can be really stubborn sometimes..."

"Sorry, but I don't like that guy. I'd rather..."

"Hm?"

"Never mind. I'll think about it." I felt a smile come across my face. Some progress.

"That's great, thank you Mi-Lady Miku. I hope to see you down there with us." For some reason, she grew her trademarked pout before she closed the door. I know you girls hate it when I'm so formal, sorry. Moving next to Nino's room I knocked on the door. "Lady Nino, can I speak with you for a moment." Nothing... "Lady Nino? Excuse me..." I opened her door and looked inside. She didn't seem to be in as her lights were off and she wasn't the type to take a nap so soon after coming home from school. Guess she went to the bathroom. Moving on, I went to the last door and prepared myself for rejection. "Lady Ichika, can you please come to the door?"

"Uhmmrammm." I recognized that strange noise. She's taking a nap. Ugh. She better be wearing clothes.

"Excuse me." I opened the door...or at least I should have but I was met with resistance. You've got to be kidding me. I put more force into my push and was met with a mess in the room. "Lady Ichika I truly have no idea how you can make a mess of your room in such an amazing way so quickly. I had just cleaned your room this morning." Walking in, I began to pick up the clothes on the floor and move them into a corner of the room. I'll organize them later.

"Sorry for all the trouble Kurooo..." Ichika had begun to rise from her bed and sure enough, she was not wearing anything other than the blanket covering her. "And what was it that you wanted to talk about?"

"*sigh* While I'd usually ask you to come down politely, you've increased my workload for tomorrow. Please put on some clothes and come downstairs to study with Sir Uesugi." Already expecting her to ask me to get her something to wear, I threw her a shirt, pants and some underwear. The old me would have been far too embarrassed to even touch their underwear, but Ichika's blatant slothfulness has made me numb to the idea.

"Hehe. Pervert."

"I'll be waiting downstairs." Shutting the door behind me, I began to walk back downstairs only to be met with Miku standing in front of me, blocking my path. "Everything alright, Lady Miku?"

"My gym sweater is missing, I think that per-"

"Impossible. I've kept a close eye on him and he's never had the chance to even touch your elbow, let alone steal a piece of clothing." As if on cue, a voice rang out from downstairs.

"Guys, cookies are ready! I think I made too much so you can have some too, Idiot guard!" Lashing out at me for Uesugi, you wound me Nino. Of course she was wearing Miku's red gym sweater.

"See?"

"Mouuuu."

Sure enough... no studying was done! While Uesugi tried his best to get the girls to pay attention, Miku and Nino only chatted, Ichika snacked away on Nino's cookies and Yotsuba was absent mindedly drawing in her note book. "O-Ogata... what should I do exactly?"

While the girls and Uesugi sat on the floor around the long coffee table, I sat on the couch overseeing them while filling out reports of my own. "I'd say you count today as a victory. Getting more than one of these sisters to even walk down the stairs was a feat in itself."

"Y-Your kidding!" I just shook my head. "What do I do? I need this job..." Uesugi whipped some sweat off his forehead and went to take a drink from the water I gave him. At the corner of my eye I saw Nino smirk.

"Don't drink that unless you want to take a nap." He immediately dropped the cup and Nino sucked her teeth. "Seriously, that's the oldest trick in the book, Lady Nino. I'm a bit disappointed. Did you think I wouldn't notice the slight carbonation in the water?"

"You're way too annoying at the most annoying times!" Nino stood up and pointed a finger at me. "We don't need another dumbass tutor, just cuz-"

"Nino, stop before you say something you'll regret." Ichika casually said as she popped another cookie in her mouth. Nino on the other hand seemed to have caught herself before glaring at me again.

"Get this asshat out of here already! You work for us, right? So do what I say!"

"Lady Nino, allow me to correct you. I don't mean to be rude but I work for your father, not you. It is my job to not only protect you but also improve your life. Improving your grades falls under that umbrella. But, I understand that you girls are most likely tired. It's only the second day at our new school, that is the only reason why I see this lackluster excuse as a study session as success." I took in a deep breath before continuing. "I will escort Sir Uesugi home, but I hope you girls give him another shot. After all, should you reject him and fail your midterms, Sir Maruo said that he would fire me and replace me with another member of the Library. I quite like this job so I'd like to avoid that if possible."

"Wait, what?!" All of the girls said at the same time.

"I hope next time it will be better." I stood up from the couch and gestured to Uesugi to follow me. After waiting for him to pack up we both made our way out of the apartment without saying another word.

"...shit."

AN: Hello there. This is an idea I've had for most of this year and finally decided to let it out into the world. I've always been a huge fan of QQ, since I got into it when the manga was still early on. I have a lot planned for this fic and I hope I can live up to them. Thank you for reading! All comments are appreciated.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Years as well!
