A/N: I posted a couple of drabbles over the time the series was airing on Tumblr, and I figured it was time to make this official and post them here. I don't intend to continue any one of these, but who knows. I'll just post them one by one, as new chapters, but they're obviously not related. Some are stand alone drabbles, and some are the result of a prompt/ask – I'll be sure to mention that. I'll also add another thread for the smutty ones, so that I can rate it M for obvious reasons. Let me know what you think!
All Our Tomorrows
"Hey, can you help me out of this dress?" Elizabeth asked once the prison door was open.
Henry nodded and followed her inside, behind the curtain that provided her some privacy. He pulled the zipper down and watched as she slid it down her arms and wriggled out of it.
"This is not how and where I imagined I would get you out of your wedding dress," he muttered.
Smirking, she turned to him. "We are going home, you can do whatever you want there."
"Will you wear that dress for me again?"
She made her way towards him, and standing in nothing but her underwear and bra and leaned towards him. "I will do anything for you," she whispered.
He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to him, linking his lips with hers in a searing, proper, kiss.
"Much better than from behind bars," she teased.
They were sent upstairs by Stevie the moment they got home. He just got out of the shower when she passed by him, naked, and her hand brushed over his bare chest. As she closed the bathroom door behind her, he suddenly noticed the piece of paper on his pillow.
Unfolding the letter, he smiled, knowing her handwriting by heart.
"My dearest Henry,
I bet that when you went to check what that noise was, you didn't think you'll get stuck with me for more than 30 years. But here we are, and I am so grateful that you did that.
Before I met you, I didn't think I will ever be able to have a family again, to love so completely. I never thought I would open up, let someone in. I lost so much, I was so afraid to lose more. But you made me want to take that chance, and boy was that risky.
You blinded me when I first saw you in your uniforms, but quickly I realized what those meant and I wasn't ready to let you go. I fell so hard for you that all I wanted was to keep you all to myself. With all the promises of a life together, I wasn't willing to let you go.
But you promised- there is no force on earth that could keep you from coming back to me, and I believed you, same as I always had and always will.
And you came back to me, just like you said you would. And we built this life together, this life I could only dream of before I met you. And you're still here, beside me, on every wild ride, supporting every crazy idea. And you love me like I never knew a person could love, but then I also love you just as much.
I know we had some rough patches, and boy did life throw some crazy things at us, but you are always here, right beside me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I love you, Henry McCord. Grow old with me, the best is yet to be.
Yours forever,
Elizabeth."
She emerged from the shower just as he finished reading the letter. With tears in his eyes, he strode towards her and pulled her into his embrace, holding her tight against him.
"Thank you for dropping those books and making so much noise," he whispered against her hair.
Elizabeth giggled, her hands holding him tight. "It was supposed to be perfect. The vow renewal. I'm sorry about that. I still wanted you to have the vows that I wrote, though."
Looking into her eyes as he always did, drowning himself in the sea of blue, he shook his head. "It was perfect, because you were there and I really don't need anything else."
