Hello All, so here is the second part to my Tommy/OFC (Isabella Ismay) story 'Some Kind of Tomorrow' this will be a shorter story and just gives my babies the happy ending they deserve. In order to read this and fully understand it you might want to give the story mentioned above a go.

This does have Jack/Rose, Helga/Fabrizio in it and though they might not be the central characters they are right there giving my main characters a gentle shove in the right direction.

Disclaimer-Nothing is mine.

And nothing here is historically one hundred percent accurate.

As for the depiction of Bruce Ismay, this is based on the brilliant portrayal that Jonathon Hyde gave in the film, not the real man at all.

Please Read and Review.

And on a side note, I like so many other Fanfiction Authors no longer receive notifications via email about reviews/PMs etc. So if you do send any it might be a while, if ever before I get back to you. Please keep that in mind for it is not intentional-If anyone has a fix please let me know.

Drifting Back

Sequel to 'Some Kind Of Tomorrow', Tommy and Isabella along with Jack, Rose, Fabrizio, Helga and Cora attempt to rebuild their lives after the sinking and go in search of Isabella's father to lay the ghosts of the past to rest. AU.

Chapter 1-Rise Up.

In which the group attempts to find peace after the sinking or at the very least a good nights sleep.

It was Jack that found them a place to sleep.

It was a good thing really Tommy thought because they were all so bone deep exhausted that they were inches away from falling asleep where they stood and becoming intimately acquainted with the sidewalk but Jack knew people or at the very least gave the impression of knowing people and they ducked down little side-streets until they reached a shabby looking but mostly decent Irish establishment.

The man behind the counter eyed them for one long moment especially Rose and Isabella who were arguably the best dressed out of the seven of them despite the fact that Rose was soaked to the bone and Isabella was shivering violently. In the end he said he would give them three rooms for the night for the sheer good luck of surviving but then if they wanted to stay there for another night it was the girls in one room and the men in the other simply because he was not running that kind of an establishment as you bloody well know Dawson.

Jack shook his hand and jerked his head up the stairs. The hotel owner had handed them handfuls of bread and cheese and it was enough for the to stuff in their pockets and take their glasses of cool water up with them to the room for the night. It was decided without even saying anything that Cora would go with Jack and Rose simply because Tommy was sure the little girl wouldn't go anywhere else. He didn't stop to check beyond that simply opened one door and shoved Isabella inside turning the door and sliding the lock across it so they were alone.

Alone at last.

The room was wonderfully decked out—anything after the Carpathia was wonderful if it guaranteed him privacy in his mind but this was wonderful. It was clean and there was a large bed, a small water closet and even though the paint was peeling and the window rattled against the rain that had been steadily falling since they had docked, and had he mentioned the large bed?

Isabella laughed when he said such things and sat down lacing off her boots and throwing her purse and jacket to the side. She lay down on the mattress and Tommy followed shucking off his shoes and socks and his shirt.

"Get your trousers off as well" Isabella said finally.

"Really darling? Did you not know that this is a respectable establishment?"

She rolled her eyes.

"Not like that, though as much as I want to right now all I want to do is sleep. I mean if we can soak your clothes in the water we might have a chance of getting the bloody salt water out of it"

Tommy surmised that was a good point. Over the course of the days on the Carpathia the salt in his clothes from where he had fallen on the Titanic had stiffened to the point where they were too tight to wear. He set about doing what she asked while she set the bread and the cheese on a bed. Without saying much they ate ravenous and Isabella turned undoing her gown from where it was tied at the front. She turned and Tommy undid the corset she was in running his hands over the ridges in her back where she had tied it tight and it had left marks. He left the bottom laces laced as she had slapped his hands away. He didn't understand it personally, she had been sleeping in it for days and the skin was rough and agonised and he bent softly to kiss the broken skin and he felt her sigh in relief or desire at the touch he wasn't sure which.

"Why do you wear those things?" he asked finally as she lay on the bed. Her underskirt was still on and it born signs of being well worn and hard washing.

"Because it's 1912"

"I've seen woman go without corsets before"

She propped herself up on her elbow. "Would it not be improper. With you and Jack and Fabrizio?"

Tommy snorted. "Why would it be, Jack and Fabrizio wouldn't know the difference between a girl wearing a corset and one who wasn't. Besides, they only have eyes for the woman they love. As do I"

She smiled at him and she took his hand in her own and he let her link their fingers together.

"Rose was talking before. She and Jack were planning on getting married as soon as they docked. They want to do it as soon as they can, I think she fears her mother and her fiancé. Helga and Fabrizio want to get married too…but…but would you mind—"

"Waiting until we've found your father?" he asked. It was not out of the realms of possibility that she would ask this question. He knew finding her father and letting him know that she was alive was something that had been playing on her mind since they had been reunited. Listening to the story Tommy couldn't blame her.

"It would be nice to walk down the isle on my father's arm" she said softly. "I know it's a dream that might come to naught but…but I want to see if I can make it reality. It might be stupid, he might have a family of his own and want nothing to do with me but…"

"If he does then that's his loss" Tommy said softly. "Because any good and decent man would be proud to have you as his daughter. Look at all you've accomplished and your only seventeen"

"Surviving a shipwreck does not make me accomplished"

"I meant successfully telling that serpent of an uncle of yours were to shove his arrogance" Tommy said pressing a kiss to just under her ear. She shivered somewhat and he knew that underneath her corset and underskirt her body was responding to him.

"I did no such thing"

"Oh yes you did" he said moving closer. "And whatever happens next we are together because of it."

She kissed him softly and then it built like a powerful thing and Isabella and Tommy didn't think about anything else but each other and the simple power of touch and the desire and the love that for the second time swept them away.

Who needed a wedding ring anyway?

"So where is your father's house?" Rose asked as they were getting dressed in the morning. Jack had been out since dawn trying to find a priest that would marry two couples on the sly and on the cheap and he had finally managed to find one who believed his cock and bull story about their weddings on the Titanic and their license going down with the ship. She had given Jack a handful of bills that morning though he had insisted he wouldn't need them but it was nice to spend the morning together the three of them before Rose would get married this afternoon and Helga the following morning.

"Virginia, somewhere called Patterson Mountains. Ironically his name is Patterson so I assume he must own some part of the land around there"

"Imagine" Cora said from where she was letting Helga brush and then tie up her shock of red curls. "Owning a whole mountain"

Isabella smiled at her. She was not sure what to make of that herself either. There was so little she did know and so much that she was discovering and it was hard to keep track of it sometimes. And they had not even been off the ship for more than two full days yet! New dresses had not been an option especially when she knew they would need clothes for more practical wear rather than weddings so Jack and Rose were getting married in their white shirt and lavender dress and Helga in a green dress she had been wearing when the ship had gone down simply because her other alternative was her nightgown.

"Jack thinks as soon as we can we should get out of New York" Rose said taking a sip of water. Isabella nodded and carefully nobody commented on the nerves that had clearly taken hold.

"I agree. And I do not have to tell you how much this means to me. There is a very good chance that this could be a terrible mistake I am dragging you all along to witness"

"If it is, it is" Rose said shrugging as Isabella attempted to tie back some of her hair. "But I do not know…perhaps it is the fact that we have survived or perhaps it is just the love that we all now feel but I think…I have a feeling that from this moment on everything is going to be alright"

Isabella caught Helga's eye. The blonde woman just shrugged. Helga had been very quiet for a very long time and Isabella wondered just how it must be to be the only one standing out of your family by sheer luck. She flashed Helga a small smile and was rewarded with one in return.

"Are you sure you and Tommy want to wait?" Helga said finally in that stilted English that was getting better with each passing day. Isabella nodded.

"I want to see if my father is a family member I can count on" she said finally.

"But you still love us?" Cora argued looking up.

"Of course I do" Isabella said dropping a kiss onto the mass of red curls. "You are all my family too. And hopefully we will all like Virginia."

"Jack says it is very warm." Helga said finally. "Fabrizio was very happy. He says after…after the water he needs sun on his bones to warm him up."

Isabella personally thought that after the water, the boats and the penetrating cold that they still could not seem to shake off that was a very good idea. They all needed the sun on their bones, the warmth, the heat…they needed to feel alive again and perhaps this would be the place where for a short time anyway they could get it.

If not then…then…she had her family her too. And she would make it work.

She thought to herself with a grim smile that if she could do seventeen years as Bruce Ismay's niece and make that work then she could try and make this work too. Though what a complete stranger was going to do when her, an Irishman, an Italian, a Norwegian, a rich girl and Cora descended on his doorstep was another thing entirely.

"You sure your ready?"

"To marry Jack? I've been ready for that since the first time I've met him"

Isabella would have scoffed at the romance had it not been for the fact that she was pretty sure she had felt the same about Tommy. Helga next to Rose nodded to her face transforming into the first genuine smile she had seen on her since the Carpathia.

Most of the docks were still swarming with people and press but the priest conducted both weddings on both days with absent minded speed not that anyone minded. That night they packed up what little they had, it was not a honeymoon the way a honeymoon should be, at least not in Isabella's eyes if she was being totally honest with herself but she thought going to the local pub and getting drunk was a good enough reason anyway. Tommy pulled her onto the dancefloor and Jack did the same with Rose and Fabrizio with Helga and Cora danced with some other children. For one night they forgot everything but each other and though sometimes it felt like a hollow mockery of what had gone before in the bowls of the Titanic where for her everything had changed it also felt like a liberation.

She had a life to lead and tomorrow when they got on that train for Virginia, Isabella Ismay was going to know one way or the other where she stood in this world and Rose was right, it would not destroy her if her father rejected her because somewhere along the way between sinking and saving and marriage and peace and fighting and all the loving in between she had forged herself a new family and this one she knew would be at her side for the rest of her life.

And there you go, I hope you enjoyed this little first chapter and I will do my best to bring you the next one sooner rather than later.

Next Chapter-Isabella and the group discuss their next move. Jack, Rose, Helga and Fabrizio all enjoy life as married couples. Isabella takes a rather...radical step towards gaining her independence.
