Hello, so here I am again with another story again for Rosalie and Emmett a criminally underrated couple. This is their version of Breaking Dawn.
This is not one hundred percent cannon, if you are looking for word for word perfect scenes out of the book then I am not the author for you, this is my interpretation of these events.
There will be trigger warnings for this story and keep in mind a hell of a lot of swearing for what is in the books, also some interpretation on Rosalie and Emmett's past. This also might turn into an M Rated story depending on how I take it. Again something to keep in mind as we progress.
Some events might be missed from the book as well but the bare bones of it still remain.
Also spelling/grammar etc...not my strongest point. Again something to take note off.
Disclaimer-Nothing is mine.
Please Read and Review.
And on a side note, I like so many other Fanfiction Authors no longer receive notifications via email about reviews/PMs etc. So if you do send any it might be a while, if ever before I get back to you. Please keep that in mind for it is not intentional-If anyone has a fix please let me know.
Self-Fulfilling Prophecy
Rosalie and Emmett's point of view of Breaking Dawn. How Rosalie decides to help Bella, how Emmett navigates the fallout and how they both deal with the threat of the Volturi.
Chapter 1-In The Beginning
In which there is a wedding, an unwelcome guest and a soft moment full of golden light.
"The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary. Men alone are quite capable of every wickedness." Joseph Conrad.
The day of the wedding between Isabella Marie Swan and Edward Anthony Mason Cullen dawned bright and early. Perfect wedding conditions just like Alice had foretold back when she had been planning the damn thing. To Rosalie it wouldn't have mattered (though she knew she would have felt a slither of pure amusement if there had been rain) but to everyone else it seemed to.
The morning of the wedding was a frantic last minute preparations. Jasper had gone to pick up Bella's Mom and her stepfather from the airport. Edward had gone for a long walk around what Rosalie suspected was most of Washington with Carlisle who seemed to know that it was best to keep the groom busy on a day like today—and to keep out of his wife and his daughter's way. Considering the joy in which Alice and Esme had thrown themselves into this thing Rosalie couldn't blame him one bit.
She and Emmett however had somehow slipped away out of the frantic planning. Alice liked to do everything herself including the entire fitting, dress planning and making sure that the werewolf stink (there was bound to be one of them coming after all) didn't get into the carpet by spreading an abundant amount of flowers around the place. Esme had spent time with the caterers making sure that the food for the humans were up to scratch and the champagne was chilled.
Rosalie had gone for a bath and much to her amusement (and her delight) Emmett had come to join her. Her bathroom was much like her closet, her safe space and even Alice in the throes of wedding planning bliss would not dare disturb them both here. Rosalie turned the tap off the vanilla infused water and sunk into it leaning back on Emmett's chest with a groan. Even though hot water didn't react to her muscles anymore she always liked to think that somewhere in her frozen body, the memory was remembered.
Emmett said nothing for a second and then…
"We weren't this bad when we were planning our wedding were we?"
"Which one?"
"Any of them?"
"I think the first one but that's different. You always remember the first wedding"
"Yeah well…somehow I think it's going to be a long time before we do this again. Edward was saying last night that Bella's made it pretty clear this is a one time only thing. Alice might have to live vicariously through this one"
Rosalie laughed. Jasper was a true believer in one wedding was the only wedding you needed and she did not doubt that he would soon have to fend off Alice. She had loved every moment of this planning. Personally Rosalie could understand why Bella had wanted to run off to Vegas though the sun…
Ugh the sun.
And the sand.
Oh, the sand.
Rosalie had hated sand as a human, she despised it as a vampire. Sand was one of the few commodities that didn't change over time. Weather you were a human or a vampire, sand would inevitably get everywhere, shoes, clothes, skin…a Vegas wedding would have meant some form of sand of that she was sure.
And they would have all had to have been there. No way was Esme letting Edward the most stubborn of all of her children get married without a big family celebration.
She might have been silent for a nanosecond too long because Emmett shifted against her as if a thought had just come to him and he didn't know what to make of it.
"Hey you aren't planning on letting her do our next one are you?"
"Do you honestly think that we will have that much of a choice?" she asked in genuine amusement. "Because I do not. I think it will be a straight forward ultimatum when it comes to Alice and wedding planning for the next millennium. Besides…you haven't asked me to marry you again?"
"I was thinking about it" Emmett said lightly. "But then Edward stole my thunder. Do you mind if we wait a couple of decades? There's only so much of this that I can stand. Thank God the Denali's are all still single and Carmen and Eleazer are no more interested in marriage as the next vampire. Weddings are all very well and good but I really did forget how much work was involved in them. Besides you might always say no"
Rosalie laughed. It was as a joke and they both knew it. There was no reality in which he asked her to marry him and she ever said no. He knew it, she knew, the whole world knew it so what was even the point?
She knew the answer as soon as the thought came to her head. As much as she was an old fashioned girl in the sense that she wanted the whole white wedding, Emmett was still much an old fashioned boy. They were children of the thirties and some things still stayed the same. She wanted the wedding and he wanted to go down on one knee. It didn't matter if it was the same ring even if it was slightly redesigned. It didn't matter if it was the same people. For that she could even understand Edward's desire to do it before he changed Bella, before he took her virginity when they were both vampires. She could understand it perfectly. They were the children in many ways of the time that they were frozen in. They might drive cars, have cell phones and wear clothes that once upon a time might have gotten them arrested for indecent exposure but somethings didn't change no matter how much time marched past them.
She turned and kissed her husband then. Emmett kissed back just as emphatically but she pulled back. He shot her a look that told her he was not amused and she giggled. It was lovely how easy it was to read him. The man she loved. She especially loved him on days like today when such happiness permeated the entire house and for once Jasper was not responsible for it.
"We shouldn't" she said gently. "If the ceiling caves in water from the bathtub and all ruins all of the wedding decorations it won't be Alice's wrath we have to worry about"
"Reckon we'd temporarily make her paralysed with rage and that she'd be unable to speak to us for a good couple of decades?"
"Yeah but Esme not so much. And I can handle Alice when she's pissed…Esme…"
Emmett shuddered just thinking about it. Rosalie couldn't help but agree with his reaction. She suspected that even the Volturi would struggle to deal with the impressive display Esme could show when she was pissed off. It happened so rarely but all of her children were in fear of it.
Emmett sighed in mock (though she knew it was also genuine) disappointment. "Do you want me to wash your hair?"
"If you wouldn't mind. And then you had better go and allow me to get ready, Bella will be arriving soon."
"Are you sure you are prepared for that?"
Carefully she didn't look at him.
"I was thinking I might do her hair"
Emmett whose hands had been rubbing shampoo through her own golden locks stilled in the gentle massage and then his kiss came down onto her shoulder in response. Rosalie tried very hard not to melt. She was the Ice-Queen of vampires for a reason. It was best not to let others know that all it took was her husbands quick cleaver fingers and his tongue…well…if Edward was in earshot she hoped that caused him some discomfort.
"I think that would be lovely" Emmett said softly. "But can I ask…does that mean that you have decided to accept her becoming one of us…one of the family I mean?"
"She was one of the family the second she drag Edward back from Italy" Rosalie said trying to keep her tone a shade away from sharp.
"I accepted that she was family there and then. But you know my reasons, I didn't tell her my story for fun, I told her so she could understand the consequences of the decisions she was making. And she has chosen nonetheless. There is nothing that I can do to stop her. She is going to get what she wants regardless. So I am resigned"
"You have been many thing my love resigned has never been one of them. Neither have you ever been beaten before. But…but I am sure that such a gesture from you will be well received"
Rosalie nodded. She knew he wanted to say more but they couldn't. For them children was a topic of which they didn't dwell on all that much. Most of it was because of the fact that they couldn't. They had too very, very different approaches when it came to children. For her by her own admittance it was endgame for her. It was the be all and the end all. Rosalie had wanted children before she was old enough to fully understand what it was to want. Emmett on the other hand had wanted them as something that came with a wife and family. If he had them, he had them. If he didn't, he didn't. She didn't begrudge him that clarity but it had always been hard to explain even to him that her hatred of Bella was not something as superficial as looks (though God knows that everyone else believed that no problem). It ran deeper than that, much, much deeper.
Emmett rinsed off her hair gently and then stretched within the bath. Rosalie held her breath for a second praying she didn't hear marble crack. When she did not she opened her eyes again and smiled at him. Emmett smiled back pressing a lazy kiss again to her lips.
"Do you need to feed?"
"No" Rosalie said letting him help her out the bath and taking the offered towel. "While you three were off in the woods last night, Alice, Esme and I had a bit of a girls night. Well…we had some mountain lions to only we ate them close to the house and very neatly I may add…the state of your shirt Emmett…honestly. At least we gave you boys some privacy"
"Much appreciated. And anywhere where was Carlisle?"
"Researching, you know Carlisle, a doctor in Israel is pioneering a new heart and lung technique and Carlisle spent most of the night watching the live stream and taking notes. Besides…you know what he's like. He'd much rather give his sons some privacy and pray you don't bring the forest department down on our heads than interrupt you"
"Honestly that was one fucking time and it was 1943! How were we supposed to know that there were still men working the forestry departments? There was a war on for crying out loud!"
Rosalie gave a throaty kind of laugh and kissed him again.
"Go on and get dried and dressed" she said smiling. "Esme would never forgive us if were late to the wedding"
Emmett flashed her that dimpled grin.
"Yes Ma'am"
In truth they didn't have to wait long. Esme was wating for them as they came out in their robes. She did a wonderful job as mother of pretending that her children were not having intimate moments. Though it had been a hard path for her and Rosalie to walk down over the course of the years she felt like they had done good. Esme was more of a mother to her than anyone else including her human mother who had cared more about the material, rather than the immaterial things in life.
"Emmett dear would you mind trying on your suit again for me when you have a second, I do fear that, that left sleeve is looking a bit…well…wrong"
"Sure Esme"
"I went out this morning and brought back a couple of elks if you want something to eat before the wedding, I left them in the back garden for you both, I know you've both hunted but with all these humans…well I thought It for the best. If not I'll let Jasper have them"
"Let Jasper have them Esme" Rosalie said grinning. "We're all good up here"
"Oh good. And Rose…Alice is bringing Bella round soon so…well…are you all set for the music?"
"It's the traditional wedding march Esme, a monkey could play it"
"Dear there is no need to be flippant. How long do you think you will need on your own hair?"
Emmett snorted. Rosalie didn't even bother to dignify it with a look.
"I will need but a moment, I know what I want to do with my hair…Esme why don't you go and have a bath? Carlisle will be back soon, then you can go and get ready"
Esme bit her bottom lip.
"Well I do not know…"
"Esme we all value our lives, we know what our job is" Emmett said with a wink. "Go and have a long hot soak and we will take over from here. Carlisle should be back soon. Alice can see to my suit and the two of you can have a moment together. First time since this wedding planning began"
Esme shot them both a look.
"You are incorrigible" she said kissing them both before she left the room.
"She's just figuring that out now?" Emmett muttered. Rosalie giggled.
"Emmett—suit—Alice—now!"
"Yes Mom"
"You better go" Rosalie said with a grin. "You know the Mom thing only works but for a moment"
"Yeah and with Alice it has no appeal whatsoever"
Rosalie laughed.
"See you at the wedding?"
"Sure…you be the one in purple yes?"
"Darling I'll be the one playing flawlessly. Make sure you tell everyone how good I am won't I?"
"I could make a comment that might be deemed sexually inappropriate" Emmett said with a wink. "But considering our vampire parents are in the house now I won't"
Rosalie grinned.
"Smart move"
Emmett kissed her and then he was gone and Rosalie could turn her attention to her vanity. One of the good things about having this much money and all this internet shopping was skincare.
Oh god how Rosalie loved skincare.
And with that she began.
"I could do her hair?"
Bella Swan nearly fell off the chair.
It would have been funny but Rosalie was not in the mood to be funny. She was achingly aware that it was awkward between the two of them. She did not know what to say about it. For her this was an thing of tragedy. Bella deserved…something that wasn't this life. She couldn't change how she felt about it. If she could…well…then she would be a different person and things would be very different indeed.
But she could do this…she could do Bella Swan's hair for her wedding and as Alice showed her what the vision was and she understood it she found that she was enjoying the small talk between the three of them. She loved Alice she really did but Rosalie had, had her own sisters growing up and there was something about this…about the three of them sitting here doing their hair and their make up (not that she ever needed much thank you very much) but it reminded her…well…it was not 1930 and she was not with her sisters but…it was hard to explain what it meant to her. What this moment made her feel.
The Wedding went off without a hitch. Bella came down to the music that Rosalie played in a dress that was admittedly very, very beautiful. Edward looked like he was drowning in love. Emmett who had been looking at her had looked the same and after she had played Bella down the isle so that Isabella Marie Swan could become Bella Cullen and she had thought that she might have once upon a time blushed.
It was simple and yet wonderful, beautiful and yet soft and Emmett took her onto the dancefloor pulling her in close and didn't let her go the whole night.
"Stunning" was all he said after they saw Edward and Bella off. "Stunning Rose, you are the most stunning woman in the room"
"Flatterer."
"Nah it's just truth…because you are. You are the most stunning woman I have ever seen and I want to dance with your forever"
Gently he was pulling her back towards the dancefloor and she went with him. This was Alice's moment as wedding planner, Esme and Carlisle as parents, Bella's parents…this was not her moment. Her moment was with her husband and slowly but surely in this one golden moment Emmett dipped her down onto the empty dancefloor and spun her around and Rosalie laughed feeling utterly free and like nothing could touch her.
After all…a date had been set. The wolves seemed…resigned to what was coming next…the Volturi were at bay, there was no newborn threat on the horizon….what could possibly go wrong?
She did not know it but quite a lot. Emmett didn't know it either. In that moment, in that one truly golden moment they were together, they were in love…and they thought they had it all.
Little did they know…that trouble was just around the corner.
And there you go, I hope you enjoyed this first chapter. I will do my best to bring you the next one sooner rather than later.
Next Chapter-Emmett and Rosalie enjoy some time together planning their next move and find out from Alice just what Bella meant when she told the wolf that she was going to have a 'normal honeymoon'.
