Summary: High above the city streets, the Lotus Ninjas suddenly encountered by two mysterious mystic ninjas.
Welcome to New York City.
A phenomenal city that never sleeps. There are several huge buildings and apartments with dark, empty streets that over eighteen million humans have lived, worked, and walked on their own business and life in the largest metropolitan area in the world. As the city may have a busy, entertaining outlook, it also has a much darker side within the area. Not only there has been serious crimes for the cops to handle, but there are mysterious secrets that are completely hidden from the humans.
At Eastman High School, daily classes went normally smooth for the four teenage girls.
A teenage girl was forming a perfect pyramid skillfully with her cheerleaders on top of them in perfect sync inside the school's gym. She has a curvy yet athletic figure with fair skin, long black shoulder-length hair with a white lotus flower hair clip, and emerald green eyes. Her name is Leona Shiroibara. As the oldest sister, Leona serves as a fearless class president, gymnastics team captain, and head cheerleader.
Another teenage girl was lifting a 150lb barbell that quickly astonished the crowded female students before dropping the barbell to the floor. She has a curvy yet athletic figure with fair skin, long red hair tied in a braided faux hawk hairstyle with a black skull hairband, and dark green eyes. Her name is Rafaela Shiroibara. As the second oldest sister, Rafaela serves as a tough anti-bully who doesn't like bullies picking on others but willing to fight those who gets on her nerves.
The third teenage girl was gazing at the beaker with green liquid. As she slowly poured two small drops of blue liquid into the beaker, the mixture exploded into fireworks in front of her smiling face. All the students gasped in awe as they and their science teacher clapped. She has a curvy yet athletic figure with fair skin, long brown hair tied back in a low ponytail with a dark purple jeweled band, and olive-green eyes. Her name is Donatella Shiroibara. As the second youngest sister, Donatella serves as a straight-A nerd and proud member of chess club, computer club, and chemistry club.
The last teenage girl went running around the track field with remarkable speed, which the male and female students cheered with amaze smiles. She has a curvy yet athletic figure with fair skin, long thick blonde hair, and forest green eyes. Her name is Michelle Shiroibara. As the youngest sister, Michelle serves as a track star and proud member of the comic book club.
Later on, the Lotus Ninjas sat at the empty table near the window on the left side of the cafeteria.
"So, what's on the after-school schedule today, ladies?" Lee asked Donna.
"I've got chemistry club and chess club today." Donna replied.
"Another track meeting." Ellie responded.
"Gonna head to the library for my history homework." Ella answered. She turned to Lee. "And let me guess. Cheerleading practice?"
"You know it." Lee said with a smirk.
"Hey, girls!"
Lee, Donna, Ellie, and Ella turned their attention towards a teenage girl waving at them. She has chin-length black hair that is styled in a curved bobcut and emerald green eyes. She wore a black tank top underneath a short-sleeved plaid shirt with white, light blue, and light purple stripes, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers with black soles. She also has black oval-shaped glasses and purple nail polish. Her name is Irma Langenstein. During their freshman year in high school, Irma has been Donna's best friend since they are both academic nerds in almost any subject.
Irma walked towards the table and sat down in the chair between Donna and Ellie.
"A+ on my algebra test." Irma cheered.
"Oh, yeah!" Donna replied as she and Irma high-fived each other. "Same here."
"Nerds." Ella scoffed, rolling her eyes with a smile.
"What about you guys?" Irma asked.
"A B+." Ella answered.
"An A." Lee responded.
"I had, uh, an A too." Ellie lied.
Irma, Donna, Ella, and Lee looked at Ellie with deadpan faces.
"Okay, okay. C+." Ellie said.
Lee shook her head with disappointment.
"Figures." Ella said as she rolled her eyes.
"Really, Ellie?" Irma said in annoyance. "All those days of group studying and you got a C+."
"Oh, come on." Ellie complained. "It was the week of new Justice Force comics. I can't miss all my stories."
Irma groaned as she rolled her eyes.
"At least, she got a decent grade. That's all that matters." Donna said with a shrug.
"Oh, have you girls finally asked your mom about the sleepover tonight at my place?" Irma asked.
"We did." Lee replied as she was drinking her soda. "Took a lot of convincing, but she said we can."
"Yes, it's on tonight!" Ellie cheered.
Ella and Irma released out cheers of triumph.
Donna and Ellie high-five together.
Later that night, the full moon shone down upon the bright lights of the city. Above the honking cars and illuminating lights, a pearl white airship with multiple layers resembling the petals of a rose parked itself above the bright illuminating city in the sky. It was called the Crete Fortress.
Inside the airship, a beautiful woman was sitting cross-legged against the wall as the lights of the dojo were completely off. She has fair complexion, long black hair tied back in a bun with small curled locks of hair that reaches below her ears, and dark brown eyes. She wore a white qipao dress with long poet sleeves tied in a dark green obi and white flats. Her name is Saldana Shiroibara, the mother of Leona, Donatella, Rafaela, and Michelle.
Floating in the middle of the room was the family's pet dragon. The pint-sized dragon has a long, serpentine body with ivory white scales and a golden yellow underside. It has sky blue eyes and has two limbs with three-clawed hands. Two crystal yellow orbs adorned on its tail. Her name is Ryoko.
"To be a true kunoichi, you must conceal yourself into the shadows." Saldana spoke through the darkness. "Stay in the darkness will give a kunoichi the advantage without revealing her presence. Your job is to catch Ryoko without revealing yourselves."
Ryoko kept floating at the center of the dojo with absolute caution.
Donna moved quietly within the shadows. She extended her vines from her hand to wrap Ryoko, but the dragon evaded the attack and swung its tail to hit Donna that sent her flying against the wall.
"Your vines aren't quick enough, Donatella." Saldana said with a smirk.
Ellie thrusted her hand and summoned a tornado at Ryoko from underground, but the dragon avoided the attack and swung its tail that sent Ellie flying onto Donna.
"Your tornado is a little loud, Michelle." Saldana said.
Ella tiptoed quietly and fired a dragon-shaped flame from her fingertip at Ryoko. But the dragon ducked and extended her tail to wrap around Ella's left leg, slamming her on the ground several times before tossing her away to slam into Ellie and Donna.
Donna, Ellie, and Ella groaned in pain.
"Poor move for your flames, Rafaela." Saldana said in a disappointed tone.
Lee was hovering above the dojo close to the ceiling. In one strike, she trapped Ryoko inside a large sphere of water.
Saldana snapped her fingers, turning the lights on with her magic.
"Well done, Leona." Saldana said as she congratulated her oldest daughter.
Ellie, Ella, and Donna stood up to stare at Lee.
"Looks like the teacher's pet won...again." Ella commented with a glare as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Rather be a teacher's pet than a ninja dropout." Lee retorted.
Ellie and Donna giggled with a smirk. Ella glared harder and turned away with a scoff while Lee released Ryoko and petted the dragon.
"Girls, enough." Saldana said. She let out a slightly agitated sigh. "You need to understand. If you want to become a true kunoichi, you must work harder and train harder. Your path will not be easy. The outside world is not always a friendly place as the humans would never understand our mystical abilities."
Donna, Ella, Lee, and Ellie knew their mother is right. The entire Shiroibara family are members of the race of humans with innate magical abilities known as mystics. The Lotus Ninjas inherited the genetic magical abilities of their mother. Throughout their whole lives, Saldana taught them lessons to learn and manipulate magic they were born with. Each Shiroibara sisters manipulate magical elements: Lee possesses water magic, Donna possesses earth magic, Ella possesses fire magic, and Ellie possesses air magic.
"To survive, you must master these skills I teach you." Saldana continued. "Ninjutsu enhances your stealth and secrecy to the outside world." She then released a smile on her face. "And speaking of the outside world, don't forget to have fun at your sleepover."
"We will." Donna, Ella, Lee, and Ellie smiled.
Outside the city, the Lotus Ninjas ran and jumped on each building rooftop in a series of flexible flips and cartwheels. They are wearing their official kunoichi attires: Lee wore a blue zip-up leotard that has silver cuffs at the neck, leg, and arm holes. She also wore blue knee-high heeled boots and black fingerless gloves. Ella wore a red zip-up leotard that has silver cuffs at the neck, leg, and arm holes. She also wore red ankle-length, high-heeled boots and black fingerless gloves. Donna wore a purple zip-up leotard that has silver cuffs at the neck, leg, and arm holes. She also wore purple cross-lined heeled boots and black fingerless gloves. And Ellie wore an orange zip-up leotard that has silver cuffs at the neck, leg, and arm holes. She also wore orange knee-length heeled boots with black laces and black fingerless gloves.
Once they jumped down onto an apartment building rooftop, Lee suddenly stopped running and collapsed on her knees while clutching her head and groaning through clenched teeth. Ellie, Ella, and Donna halted themselves for a complete stop as they ran to check on their oldest sister.
"Lee, what's wrong?" Donna asked in worry.
"Are you okay?" Ellie asked as she and Ella helped Lee up off the ground.
"I...I don't know." Lee replied. "I'm sensing a strange but powerful aura somewhere around this area. Almost sentient."
"Can you locate it?" Ella asked.
"I'll try." Lee said.
Lee levitated above her sisters in a meditative position, focusing on her magic to perceive auras that surrounded every living thing within the city. Aside from her water magic, she can sense emotions and health coming from humans and hidden mystics alike in a form of auras.
In quick seconds, Lee finally sensed the mysterious aura.
"Found it." Lee said. "It's coming from the Museum of Modern Art."
"I'm on it." Donna said.
As Donna snapped her fingers, a bright lilac compact mirror-shaped gadget materialized in her right hand. She pulled on a map of New York that displayed a blinking red dot on the screen.
"Got the coordinates." Donna said. "Let's go."
Once the Lotus Ninjas finally reached to the museum, they stealthily broke inside through the shadows and easily evaded security. They made their way to a storage room that displayed a wealth of objects in glass cases.
"Anything, Lee?" Ellie asked Lee.
Lee closed her eyes and concentrated on the mysterious aura. When she opened her eyes, she ran straight down the center aisle and stopped at the far wall to stare at the source of that strange aura within the glass case. The strange aura came from a strange-looking artifact. It looked like an approximately two diameter yellow eye-shaped sphere that was brimming with power.
Donna, Ellie, and Ella gathered the glass case with awestruck faces.
"Whoa." Donna and Ella said.
"It's so cute!" Ellie squealed quietly.
"I can feel it yearning." Lee said as she placed her hand on the glass case. "It's powerful, waiting for a host to share a symbiotic relationship with."
The eye-shaped artifact suddenly came to life, earning quiet gasp from the mystic kunoichis.
"Should we...let it out?" Ellie wondered.
"Already on it." Ella said.
Ella lifted one flaming finger and took a careful aim, shooting a tiny bolt of magical fire at the glass case that melted it into a circle. The eye-shaped artifact soared out of it with glee.
But just before it could approach the Lotus Ninjas, a spherical force field came out of nowhere and imprisoned the creature.
The Lotus Ninjas gasped in shock. They quickly turned their heads to the source of firing that force field that revealed to a female childlike silhouette.
"Thanks for finding what I'm looking for." A feminine voice spoke.
The spherical force field soared through the air and landed on the captor's hand before running for the door.
"Quick, after her!" Lee commanded.
Lee, Donna, Ella, and Ellie sprinted after the mysterious captor. The captor jumped high towards the skylight and easily escaped into the night. But the Lotus Ninjas aren't ready to give up yet. They followed after the captor out through the museum skylight. Once they landed on a building rooftop, the Lotus Ninjas went running and jumping on every rooftop, trying to catch up the mysterious captor.
Then, the Lotus Ninjas landed on the rooftop of a tall building, where they are confronted by a woman that are accompanied with the captor. The adult woman has a curvy hourglass figure with brown skin, long black wavy hair, and hazel eyes. She wore a dark grey skintight leotard with black embroidered vest, black fingerless gloves, and black combat boots. The captor appeared to be a young girl that has a slender figure with fairly petite body with fair skin, thick wavy platinum blonde hair pulled back into two pigtails, and bright blue eyes. She wore a black armored knee-length dress that has medium sleeves with ruffles at the end of her sleeves, dark grey tights, and black armored ankle-high shoes.
"Oh my, Mira." The woman spoke. "It seems that you were being followed."
"Looks like they want to rescue this cute eyeball thing, Sienna." The young girl said.
"I don't know what you're planning to do with that creature, but you better let it go!" Lee demanded.
Mira tossed the floating force field above them in midair.
"Ooh, they looked fun!" Mira said with a childlike smile. "I can't wait to play with them!"
Sienna walked up to face the girls as she placed her hands on her hips.
"I don't know who you are, but if you're planning to get in our way, then you'll have to deal with us!" Sienna declared.
Sienna snapped her fingers and a squad of female ninjas appeared on the edge of the rooftop. They all are wearing a full-body, form-fitting black armor with a hood on their head along with black metal mask on their mouth area.
"Kunoichis?" Lee said in awe.
"That's right." Sienna said. "You girls aren't the only ones lurking in the shadows in this city. Shadow Ninjas, you know what to do."
The Shadow Ninjas jumped up in the air and landed on the ground to surround the Lotus Ninjas.
"Any suggestions, Lee?" Ellie asked Lee.
"Just one. Be ready for anything." Lee ordered.
"Oh, I am so gonna enjoy this." Ella said with a smile.
Donna enveloped her hands with purple magic. Ellie engulfed her hands with orange magic. Ella engulfed her hands with red magic. Lee enveloped her hands with blue magic.
The Shadow Ninjas charged forward to attack the Lotus Ninjas, who immediately scattered away.
Donna placed her glowing hands on the ground, summoning two large roses to grow on either side. The large roses then fired purple glowing seeds at the Shadow Ninjas that exploded them upon contact. Five Shadow Ninjas surrounded Ella and started delivering punches and kicks at her, but Ella evaded their attacks and leaped in the air above them. Ella then conjured a large ball of fire from one hand and threw it at the Shadow Ninjas that burned all at once. One Shadow Ninja delivered rapid kicks and the other Shadow Ninja delivered fast punches at Lee. But Lee evaded with fast speed and released a stream of big bubbles from her hands that hits the Shadow Ninjas at great force. Ellie spun herself around and fired multiple blasts of air at the rest of the Shadow Ninjas that detonated powerfully around them.
At their defeat, the Shadow Ninjas poofed into black shimmering smoke one by one.
Then, the Lotus Ninjas turned their attention to Mira and Sienna. Before Mira and Sienna can react, Donna sculpted a gigantic rock fist from the ground that clamped around them. Lee rotated two streams of water around each other out of thin air and formed a helix that blasted Mira and Sienna into the air with tremendous force.
Ella and Ellie sprang high in the air above Mira and Sienna just as Donna's giant rock fist grabbed the force field that contained the mystical artifact. Ellie and Ella unleashed a simultaneous assault with several blades of wind and a large bullet-like stream of fire that drove Mira and Sienna to the ground.
Ellie and Ella landed down with Donna and Lee as they watched Mira and Sienna collapsing to their knees in exhaustion.
"Oh, come on. Seriously? I'm just getting warmed up." Ella said as she crossed her arms with a smirk.
"The victory is yours...for now." Sienna said. "But this isn't over."
Mira lifted her hand up in the air, conjuring a large portal made of dark energy. As she and Sienna descended into it, the portal disappeared out of sight.
The Lotus Ninjas looked at the spot with a complete confusion.
"That was strange. I was kinda expecting more out of those two." Donna commented.
"Okay, this day has gone from normal to bizarre." Ellie said. "I mean, I thought we were the only kunoichis here in New York City. Who would've thought there be more of them."
"At least, they didn't get that eyeball." Ella said, pointing her finger at the mystical artifact inside the force field sphere.
Donna snapped her fingers and the giant rock fist crushed the force field, setting the strange artifact free. The sentient creature came into view and rubbed at Ellie's cheeks before landing on her head.
"Aww, it's so cute." Ellie smiled. She held the sentient creature in her hands. "I'm gonna keep you and I'm gonna call you...Ekron."
Ekron flew up and rubbed against Ellie's cheek affectionately as if it liked its new name.
"Fascinating." Donna said as she examined Ekron. "I've never seen anything like it before. I know mom's gonna freak when we showed her this."
"We'll tell mother later." Lee said. "Right now, we have a sleepover to get to."
The Lotus Ninjas arrived at the front door of Irma's apartment. They quickly combined their magic to alter into their night clothes: Lee wore a navy-blue sleeveless nightgown with a black fringe along the shoulders. Ella wore a black singlet with bright scarlet trim with a large bright scarlet skullette in the middle and dark burgundy shorts with a black trim. Donna wore a pale lavender nightgown with black straps going over the shoulders and black sheer ruffles on the chest and at the end of the skirt. Ellie wore an off-shoulder orange shirt and dark tangerine sweat pants with black trimming and drawstring.
"Uh, what are we gonna do about Ekron?" Ellie asked as she was holding Ekron in her arms.
Ekron's iris turned into an exclamation mark in alert. It suddenly shapeshifted into a chain necklace resting around Ellie's neck.
"That'll do." Ellie said.
Few seconds later, the front door swung open. Irma wore a bright green tank top with black straps and three organza ruffles across it, and dark green shorts that has black organza ruffles lining the sides and hem.
"Hiya, Irma!" Ellie said as she waved with a big smile.
"What took you girls so long?" Irma asked.
"Sorry, we were late." Lee lied casually. "One of our mother's lectures took a whole hour and a half for us to leave. She can be overprotective that way."
"Well, that's understandable." Irma said with a shrug. "Luckily for you, my mom brought home some pizza for us to eat. After that, it's karaoke time!" She then noticed a chain necklace resting around Ellie's neck. "Oh, cute necklace, Ellie."
Then, Irma walked away to her living room. Lee, Ella, Donna, and Ellie followed inside as they sat around the coffee table eating pizza together in the living room.
Meanwhile, a beautiful woman sat on her throne with a scowl on her face inside her business tower. She has creamy-pale skin, long black hip-length hair with bangs that is loosely tied at the tips with darker grey band, and grey eyes. She wore a black business suit with a white undershirt, silver-grey buttons, and black high heels. She was listening to Mira and Sienna's failing mission.
"We're sorry, mother. We lost the artifact at the museum." Sienna reported. "But we were attacked by four mystic kunoichis and not even our ninjas could handle their magic."
The woman narrowed her eyes at Sienna's report.
"They took us by surprise. It wasn't our fault." Mira added as she crossed her arms with a pout.
"That's enough." The woman spoke.
Sienna and Mira knelt one knee down to the floor.
"We won't fail you again, mother." Sienna and Mira assured.
"I know, my daughters." The woman said. She levitated out of her throne chair and stood on the floor. "Whether we win or lose, we'll learn something about our enemy if we ever want to achieve conquest."
"Yes, mother." Sienna and Mira said respectfully.
Behind the woman was a black symbol resembling a dragon's upper jaw.
"Anyone who defies our mission will face the wrath of the Shadow Clan." The woman declared.
Note: I have an idea for the Lotus Ninjas to have a companionship throughout the chapters. Lee's companion is her pet dragon Ryoko and Ellie's companion is Ekron (loosely based on Emerald Eye of Ekron from DC Comics). Donna and Ella will have their companions soon.
Also, yesterday was my birthday. The updates will be slow, so be patient with me and my college schedule.
Review and enjoy!
