Chapter 1

I do not own Mass Effect 1,2,3 or the Legendary Edition

I do own my own life and likeness

Thanks to Durrty Paramour for the review and pointing out the mistakes

Story start

I could hardly believe it, Mass Effect the Legendary Edition was on special. I'd barely stopped myself from buying it when it first came out because I wanted to hear if there were any problems with it first and now it was here for 49 dollars, for just 49 I'd be able to relive all those memories so fuck yeah.

It took forever to download but the next day after work I was ready to play.

Sometime later I came to in my bed.

"Shit how long did I stay up playing?" I thought outloud trying to remember

As I continue to wake up I gradually notice that this room wasn't mine, well it was. I could recognise my things, the way the room was set out and the items looked like things I would buy but at the same time it looked completely foreign.

Before I could go into much more thought an alarm went off. Without thinking I slap my wrist and a very familiar object appeared over my wrist, an omni-tool.

"Callum! What the hell! Where are you, you were supposed to be a work nearly an hour ago! Since you're not usually late I'll overlook it this time but get your ass down here now!" said the voice before the call ended

"...what the hell is going on?"

The rest of the day I spent on autopilot, it seemed that I worked as a farmer...on Eden Prime. At first I wasn't sure if it was a dream, a coma or if I was somehow transported to the mass effect universe or I somehow unlocked memories of a past life. In the end it didn't really matter as even if it was a dream or if I was in a coma it was obvious by the end of the day I wasn't walking up.

For the next month I continued to work, learn about my new life and train. As I was living on Eden Prime I knew it was only a matter of time before the colony was attacked, the good news was there was nothing on the extranet about Eden Prime ever being attacked so I definitely had more than three years before the Reapers arrived. There was talk about some Prothean artifacts being dug up but nothing of real importance as of yet and though I had no idea how long the dig went on before they found the beacon in the game I felt it wouldn't be long.

There was some good news, it turned out I was a biotic and a decent one at that. I wasn't as powerful as Jack, Samantha- wait no its Samara, Samatha was the communications officer, Miranda or anywhere near them but I did seem to have a great amount of control. I'd been experimenting a bit and I found I could do a lot more than the few abilities in the game such as a sort of biotic shield, not to be confused with a biotic bubble. It was like a biotic field appearing in front of my forearm that would block any incoming attacks and was much easier to create and maintain than the full shield bubble, as long as I wasn't attacked from behind that was. I got the idea from watching the Witcher on Netflix, infact I was able to create a decent number of attacks from my memories of playing mass effect, watching various movies and playing various games. I think part of the reason I could create my own attacks was because of my imagination, that I'd seen something that seemed feasible to do (like Geralt's shielding magic) but also because I didn't really know the 'rules' of what can and can't be done. I remember hearing that if a child wasn't told something was hard or difficult for them to do then they are more likely to be able to do it (like a seven-year-old reading Harry Potter by themselves).

Another thing I was happy about was the fact I also had a claymore sword and a compound bow like I did before. The sword was almost identical to what it looked like before but the bow, well it was still a compound bow but it was a mass effect compound bow which meant it could fold up like everything else, it also could alter the weight of any released arrows and finally there was a box attached that could disperse and automatically knock arrows. If I had to guess it cost a fortune, not that I was surprised, my previous bow was easily the most expensive thing I owned. To go with it I had a wrist aid release that used a VI to knock and release the string, all this meant I could shoot as fast as Robin Hood himself, or at least the Welsh character he was based of and that the bow was an archer's wet dream. To go with the bow I also had a pistol and a large crocodile Dundee knife, and judging from a few pictures I'd also been hunting which made me wonder...how the hell was it legal for me to have all of this, the bow alone was strong enough to take down an unshielded krogan, or an elcor if I ramped everything up. But then I realized, homicidal maniacs would always go with the gun, sure they can kill people with a knife or a bow, but with an assault rifle they can kill so much more easily thanks to thousands of grain-sized particles travelling near the speed of light before they are taken out.

In my downtime I research things about my new life, filling in the gaps left from the mass effect games. I found some interesting facts as well as some said ones, such as an email from a few years ago about my parents dying in a shuttle accident, I didn't know how to feel about that they were my parents but at the same time they weren't. I'd also watched Fleet and Flotilla, it wasn't exactly the chick flick I'd expected, it had romance sure but there also was a good story and enough action to keep me interested. I also watched a few Blasto movies, which while were B-rated rip-offs of either real people, Lethal Weapon or James bond (or all three) they weren't half bad. I also started to spread rumours about pirate attacks being possible if they found anything important in the dig site, especially because of how close it was to the Terminus. This was hard to do so because I didn't want anything coming back to me, because if the Alliance heard of one guy spreading rumours of pirate attacks and then there was a geth invasion a few days later then they'd put two and two together and think I might know something I shouldn't, which I did but I didn't want them to know that. So instead I talked to handfuls of people and bring up previous attacks both on colonies and on dig sites.

In the end it worked...I think. There was more and more talk about the Alliance turning away anyone that went near the dig site, but I wasn't sure that's from anything I did or the Alliance was already doing it. The only people I knew for certain that died in the first attack of Eden Prime were soldiers, scientists and dock workers so as far as I knew this is something they'd already did.

Things continued then one day I overheard one of my fellow workers talking in a group

"I'm thinking of taking Elaine to have a sneak peak on whatever they're digging up. I heard they found some priceless artifact at the dig sight." said man called Tyler, if I remember he was barely over 21 and had a girlfriend the same age. I also had memories of two burnt up skeletons near where the Normandy will/had dropped off Shepard, Jenkins and Kaiden. "I doubt we'll get close enough to see anything but there's a good spot around there for a picnic."

"I really wouldn't do that." I said speaking up

"Why not? Don't tell me your one of those guys that thinks a batarian armada is going to swoop down and kill everyone." said one of the other workers, half-joking, half concerned

"I'm sure the people at Mindoir and Elysium thought the same thing. The thing is if whatever they dug up their is valuable enough than someone just might attack, I hear romours of pirates trying to raid certain dig sights. Sure if its broken pottery than an attack is unlikely but if they think there is something important like some sort of functioning technology then a lot of people would be interested. Hell the asari themselves are willing to admit they're a long way off from reaching the peak the Protheans got to before they vanished, hell imagine what a say...20th or 21st century criminal would do to get their hands on a mass effect gun?" I ask "Sure there might not be an invasion but I bet there are a number of gangs that would love to get their hands on anything that can be used as a weapon do you really want to take the chance that the blue suns or Elcipse won't send anyone to rob anything of value? Do you really want to risk you and Elaine getting caught in a firefight over a date?"

"Yeah, I guess your right." answered Tyler reservedly before walking away "I can always do something else."

That day I put in some annual leave, I had about a week to use so I said I was going on a week-long hunting trip. There wasn't a lot to hunt on Eden Prime, small pig like animals as well as something that resembled deer, no actual predators that could take down a human but still enough wild game that taking time off to hunt wouldn't raise too many eyebrows.

A few days later and I saw the reaper Nazara? Coming down from the skies and I made my way closer.
