So I thought, after reading some rather good fanfics and getting an idea, that I'd give this a go. It's AU for both Twilight and SOA. And it is an SOA fic. So warnings and triggers for pretty much anything and everything. Drugs, sex, drinking, abuse, everything you saw in the show will probably come up at some point. There may be some cannon storylines in here but mostly I'll be making it up. Updates will usually be a Friday. I hope you enjoy!
Danger MagnetChapter 1
Rane Quinn sat in the dingy bar reading the letter he'd received through his personal PO box. His hands shook at what he was reading, a red haze of anger blurred his vision and the letter crumpled under his too tight grip. Fucking furious didn't even cover it, that selfish, no-good, croweating, bitch. He was going to hunt the bitch down. Quinn didn't hurt women. Kids and women, they didn't get hurt. That was the rule he lived his fucked up outlaw life by. Just this once he thought he might fucking ignore his own rule.
"Hey, Quinn!" The familiar raspy voice of Happy Lowman called across the bar to him. They were due to ride down to Charming together, Happy might be doing it solo now. The club came first, but this… fuck.
Quinn turned to face Happy, a younger brother. Happy frowned at him, two beers in his hand as he strolled over. Happy never walked anywhere, he strolled or strutted, stomped, never walked. It was like he was either too relaxed or too coiled for that. Always one end of the extreme with the Son.
"What's happened?" Happy asked in that gravelly voice, straight to the point, no bullshitting as normal. Happy was a man of few words, always got to the point. Quinn liked the guy, would have said, despite being a decade younger than Quinn, that Happy was one of his closest brothers.
"Here," Quinn pushed the letter across the table to his brother. He couldn't say the fucking words or he would go murder the bitch.
"Shit. We going or what then?" Happy asked, his eyes focused on Quinn. Happy's eyes had darkened to an almost jet black, a sign he was truly pissed off.
"We're supposed to be helping SAMCRO," Quinn pointed out.
"Changes things. Clay and the guys would understand, this is family," Happy shrugged, his eyes burning into the paper on the table now.
"Well I sure as shit aren't going to leave it, am I?" Quinn said. Fuck. That bitch. That fucking bitch.
"Call up Clay, explain shit. We'll ride out and sort this out brutha," Happy nodded at the letter once more.
Quinn sighed and pulled out his latest burner. He was going to have to call his old lady too, that shit was not going to fucking float with her.
"Three weeks Jacob, Edward, that's all you have to leave me alone for then I'm gone. Three weeks!" Bella hissed at the two guys who couldn't get it through their thick supernatural skulls that she didn't want to see either of them. Ever again! She was where she was because of them and if she never saw another supernatural being again it would be too soon.
"Bella-" Edward started in that musical tone of voice, his fingers going to the bridge of his nose as though she was being difficult. She had somewhere else he could put those fingers.
"No! Leave me alone! Don't turn up! Don't call! Don't message! Just pretend I never existed! Got it? Both of you!" Bella yelled before slamming and locking the door that would only be hers for the next three weeks. Then she would have to figure out her next move. All she knew was that it would be a long way from Washington. It would be somewhere warm and sunny where mythical creatures didn't try to kill you, or succeed in killing your father. Somewhere where the two idiots still outside her door wouldn't turn up.
She slid down the door, taking a break before she went back to packing up the house. It had sold pretty much straight away. Meaning she had the money to just leave now, or should very shortly anyway. She also had to deal with all the stuff in it. She was trying to decide what to put in storage, what to give to charity and what, if anything, she wanted to keep. Bella had left her fathers fishing things till last. She wanted to give them all to Billy but that meant going to the Res, which meant Jacob.
For the last two months Jake had got it in his head that all she needed was him to comfort her. Edward had similar thoughts. All she needed though was to go back in time and have never met them, either of them.
"What about school?" Edward yelled through the door. Bella rolled her eyes and ignored him. School was taken care of. She only had a month or two to go, so she had tested out, got her diploma and not told the sparkling, frigid ass out there about it.
"Bella come on, we get it, you're angry and hurt, you have every right to be, but you can't keep us out like this!" Jacob called. For the past week the pains in her asses had been working together. She hated it.
"Bella, if you don't come out, we're coming in!" Edward shouted out at her.
"Oh no!" She hissed, pushing herself off the floor once more. She had, had it. She had gone through more than enough the past few months without these two boys who thought they knew her mind better than she did. Bella grabbed her fathers shotgun, wrenched open the door and loaded the thing. She had never shot it before but she was fairly sure it was pretty easy; point and shoot. "I will shoot! Get away from me! Leave me alone! I am dealing fine on my own! I do not want either of you near me! I do not want you near this house! Simple words, basic English, now go!"
Bella saw and heard the motorcycle ride past but didn't pay it any attention other than the fact it was a pretty bike. Much nicer than hers.
"Bella-"
She shot the ground by Edwards foot.
"Leave! Me! Alone!" She yelled so loud she was sure she could feel her throat tear.
"Love, this isn't like you-"
"Edward I swear, by everything I have or ever will hold dear that I will smack you in the face with the butt of this gun. Just go!"
"Is there a problem here?" Bella's head whipped around to face a man who was walking over with blonde hair. He was dressed in biker boots, jeans, a plain white top and a leather vest with some patches on it.
"Who are you?" Jacob frowned at the man, who's hand was on the butt of his own gun that was still holstered, for now.
"Someone who doesn't like having to watch a woman point a shotgun at two assholes who won't take no as an answer," the biker said, frowning at Edward and Jacob.
"It's just a misunderstanding, my fiance-" Edward started and Bella saw red.
"I am not your anything! I am not your girlfriend, not your friend and I sure as anything am NOT your fiance! Get out of here! My next shot won't miss!" Bella shouted, her hands steady on the shotgun.
"You heard the lady. Off you go," the biker said, pulling out his own gun. Apparently he wasn't one for subtlety. Bella appreciated that.
Edward and Jacob both glared but they left, both headed for the forest and Bella felt like she could breathe for a moment.
"Thanks for that," Bella said to the blonde biker, now feeling a bit uncomfortable. He reminded her of the guy she had ridden with when Edward had left. If onĺy he had stayed gone.
"Nah, no problem. They've been giving you hassle?" The biker asked.
"Nothing I can't deal with," Bella said, feeling herself bristle. The sooner she was away from Forks the better.
"I could see that," the blonde smirked. "Are you Isabella Swan by any chance?"
Bella looked at the guy. "Nope. Sorry," she lied, knowing she was bad at it, but also knowing she didn't want anything else on her plate. And a biker riding up and looking for her, when she had no clue and no connection to any sort of biker gang was something she wasn't going to be dealing with.
"You suck at lying. And you look just like your picture," the blonde chuckled. He was tall and broad, she would guess in his mid to late twenties and had a kind smile.
"What would you want with her?" Bella asked, not putting up the gun. She had a feeling that the biker was probably quicker and more accurate with his but she felt safer with it in her hands. "And what picture? Don't tell me you've been stalking me too!"
"Those two have been stalking you?" He frowned at the woods where Edward and Jacob had vanished. She was sure they'd be back soon enough though.
"Look, thanks for the help, but I'm going back in now. Alone," Bella said, slightly worried and feeling a little lost. She now had no one in her corner anymore. She was going to have to deal with all her danger magnet bad luck on her own. If this guy started something she had no one she could call for help, no one she could turn to.
"Sure thing. I'm hanging around here for a while in case those guys come back. Names Koz, by the way," the blonde said, leaning against the porch like it was a natural thing to do.
"No. Thanks. I don't know you, you've been apparently stalking me. I don't want you hanging around. I don't want to, but if I have to I will ring the police," Bella insisted, she wasn't scared of the guy, Koz. It took more than a biker to scare her now, she was however wary. He didn't seem like he was going to hurt her, but he'd seen her picture and was there for her. Whatever he wanted she was sure it wasn't going to end well for her. At the moment it felt like it never would end well for her.
"Not going to hurt you now babe. I've been sent here to look out for you," Koz said, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and offering her one. She waved them away.
"By who?" Bella asked, not sure if she could trust the man or not. Her gut was telling her he wasn't going to hurt her. And last time she hadn't listened to her gut feelings her life had turned into a C list horror movie.
"Your dad," Koz said simply.
"My dad's dead," Bella said through gritted teeth. Unless he was going to tell her he was an unlikely angel sent from heaven then Koz was lying.
"Nah he's not. He's on his way here. Should be here by morning," Koz said, taking a deep drag of his cigarette.
"I buried my dad almost two months ago. Are you some sick freak? Do you think this is funny?" Bella knew she was getting hysterical, she could hear it, but she couldn't stop the feelings boiling up inside of her.
"Sorry for your loss. Was talking about your biological dad though," Koz shrugged not looking all that sorry at all. His posture was casual, leant against the porch but his eyes were focused, taking in the surroundings.
"What?" Bella asked with a frown.
"You may wanna give your mom a call," Koz shrugged again, not even looking at her.
Bella frowned again but went inside to do just that. Apparently Renee had some explaining to do.
Bella had spent the better part of the afternoon going from angry to upset. Renee had confirmed Koz's story. Charlie was not Bella's biological father. Renee had stayed on the phone long enough to confirm that, after that she hung up and couldn't be contacted again.
She wondered why now, why had Renee contacted this man now, or had he always known, and if so why had he only just come to meet her? Why was she only just finding out now, just after she started slowly feeling a bit better.
Now she opened the front door out into the darkening sky and the cool Washington air.
"I've got some dinner on the table and a warm mug of coffee," Bella told the man who hadn't moved all afternoon from his post by her porch.
"For me? Or are you rubbing it in?" Koz asked with a smirk, he looked half frozen. His shoulders were up by his ears and he was shuffling from foot to foot, despite that his eyes were still focused, he was still on the lookout for Edward and Jacob.
"I'm not in the habit of being that mean, come on in," Bella said, stepping back so he could come inside. She had made a simple steak and baked potato, with salad on the side.
"Thanks, that's nice of you. Considering you think I'm a stalker and all," he chuckled looking around the house the second he entered. She saw him scoping out the back door and the windows. He was checking for exits. It was something Charlie used to do too. She was sure for opposing reasons though. "Smells good, and it's warm."
"Yeah, the weather here's not so great," Bella shrugged, feeling awkward as she sat across from Koz and started picking at her dinner. She wasn't particularly hungry but she wasn't going to force the guy to eat by himself. She knew just how annoying that was.
"Eh, it's not so bad," Koz said. "This is great, thanks," he said around a mouthful of steak.
They ate in silence but Bella noticed that he kept shooting her looks, as though he wanted to say something.
"So, you spoke to your mom then?" Koz eventually asked as his plate was clear of food. Even the salad was surprisingly gone.
"Renee answered the phone long enough to confirm that Charlie wasn't my biological father before she hung up and wouldn't answer again," Bella nodded, feeling angry all over again. "You know who my biological dad is. Did he know about me?"
"Think that's something that's between you and him, sweetheart. I was just told to come here, check you were here and that you weren't in any kind of trouble," Koz told her with a yawn.
"What's he like?" Bella asked, biting her lip.
"You're hot when you do that," Koz grinned at her with a wink making her blush.
"Not happening. I have enough stalkers," Bella said, getting up and clearing the plates. "So is my dad in the motorcycle gang too?"
"Huh?"
"Sorry, motorcycle club, for motorcycle enthusiasts. The Sons of Anarchy, right?" Bella smirked with her back to the man who was sitting at her tiny kitchen table that Goodwill was picking up in the morning.
"You know entirely too much," Koz's voice sounded suspicious.
"I met one of you guys once, about a year back. He gave me a ride on the back of his bike. It was what made me get my bike, fix it up and learn to ride," Bella explained. That day, that short ride and even shorter conversation had changed her life. She was pretty sure the guy had no idea the impact he'd had on her.
"You ride?"
"Just a dirt bike. But I got it from a junker, fixed it up and taught myself to ride, yeah," Bella said finishing up the dishes. She was proud of that, proud of what she'd managed on her own when the two idiots who were trying to get in her good books now had turned their backs on her originally.
"Cool. So you met one of us and he gave you a ride hey?" Koz said, his voice dripping with innuendo.
"Yup, get your mind out of the gutter. It wasn't like that. I'd turned eighteen a couple of weeks before, he called me jailbait and took me back to my friend," Bella rolled her eyes.
"So, how old are you now?" Koz asked her.
"Still eighteen," Bella replied.
"Still jailbait then. Damn that's a shame," he chuckled.
"If you want to crash you can take my room, I'm on the sofa. It's the first door at the top of the stairs," Bella told him, feeling uncomfortable as she turned to face him. Was offering a guy she had only just met a bed for the night a good idea? Probably not. But then if you polled everyone who knew her the results would come out overwhelmingly that she never picked the good idea.
"Nah, I'll take the couch," Koz replied.
"The couch is mine. I've been sleeping on it for a week and I'm not changing now," Bella said firmly.
"Why?"
"Eh, you'll see," Bella said with a frown.
Bella was jarred awake at two in the morning by a gunshot. Her heart hammering she grabbed Charlie's shotgun again and ran up the stairs as quietly as she could.
She pushed the door to her bedroom open with her hand but kept her body flat against the wall.
"Koz?" She called, her voice wobbling a little.
"Bella, downstairs! Now!" Koz barked at her, his tone leaving no room to argue.
"What's happened?" Bella called, not moving from her place even as her heart beat harder against her chest.
"Bella run!" Koz yelled urgently and she heard a struggle.
Bella stood, undecided for a moment until she heard Koz gasp. Raising Charlie's gun she entered her room which was full of her packed belongings.
"What are you doing? Get out of here!" Bella yelled at Edward who was restraining Koz with ease, a bullet hole was in her wall above her bed.
"You let this piece of filth defile your bed!" Edward hissed at her, his eyes coal black.
"Get out of here!" Bella yelled again, marching over to her ex boyfriend.
"Bella, you don't know what he was dreaming about," Edward said, his eyes burning.
Bella raised the shotgun, turned it and rammed it into Edwards forehead with as much force as she could. He faltered very slightly.
"I don't care. Leave!" Bella said between clenched teeth pulling out her phone and dialling nine-one-one. "I mean it, get out of here or I'm ringing the police and getting a restraining order!"
"He was thinking of you!" Edward said, letting Koz go. The blonde biker collapsed on the floor struggling to breath.
Bella raised the phone, fully intending to call the police.
"This isn't over, love," Edward said in a threatening manner before leaving through her open window.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" Bella asked the blonde biker who was sitting up.
"What the fuck was that? My bullet bounced right off of him. How the hell is he so strong, is he on PCP or something? We need to get you the hell outta here babe. Seriously what the fuck was that? How the hell did he know what I was dreaming about?" Koz seemed to be freaking out a bit.
"Come on, let's grab a coffee. I'll tell you what I can downstairs. Are you sure you're okay?" Bella asked.
"Seriously, we need to leave, come back with an RPG or some shit. Grab your crap, we'll head to Tacoma," Koz said, his hands shaking as he stood.
"Can't. I've still got things to do here. Come on. Let's get you a coffee. I'd offer you some alcohol but I'm not old enough to drink it or buy it," Bella said, calmly leaving the room.
An hour later and Koz had stopped shaking, smoked almost an entire pack of cigarettes and was just about regaining all of his color. She'd told him about Jake and Edward not being human. Though she hadn't told them what they were but that they were two different species who were enemies. It turned out that Koz was a closet geek and guessed werewolves and vampires straight away. Bella had informed him that she could neither confirm nor deny that information. And that, if, that were the case then the modern legends were untrue. Also that bullets wouldn't work on Edward but would slow Jacob down or even possibly kill him. She suggested that an RPG may actually work to partially take out Edward but that the job would have to be finished with fire.
"This is some Bram Stoker shit. How the fuck did you get involved in this? I still say we grab any crap you need and get the hell out of here. Far, far away from this. If I hadn't seen that myself I'd think you needed admitting. Fuck. If we tell any of the guys it's a one way trip to the padded room," Koz said, lighting up yet another cigarette.
"If you hadn't seen Edward then I never would have told anyone ever," Bella said with a yawn. The adrenaline that had hit earlier was making her crash now and she was more than a little tired.
"Is that why you've been sleeping on the couch? Because Count Chocula has been creeping into your room at night?" Koz frowned harder at her. Bella just nodded, since Charlie had been killed Edward assumed that meant he could come and go as he pleased. Even after she had told him, in no uncertain terms, that she didn't want him within a ten mile radius of her. She couldn't wait for these three weeks to be over with. "That's just jacked up. We're going to need some serious tools out here."
"It's not for long. Then I'm gone and I'm never coming back here again," Bella said with a sigh.
