Well hello, this is the start of a rewrite for a series I did on Wattpad called Soldier of Darkness. The basic idea for the series was based around the episode The Green Ninja and a what if scenario. This first book covers the events of what's left of the first season and the second season.
Rebirth
It had gone wrong so quickly, the volcano, the explosive eruption. Nya could only watch in horror as the Temple of Fire melted away, and with it, came loss. "Kai." She muttered, tears welling within her eyes.
The Master of Fire, so quick to protect, so quick to judge and race to action, was gone. Nya felt her knees shake, the loss of her brother, the last part of her family had left them without choice. She wanted to scream, to turn back time and stop him from heading in.
But she could do nothing, nothing but watch as the others regrouped, as they realised the absence of Kai, of their brother. Nya noticed Wu, the youngest son of The First Spinjitzu Master stood, his own grief ridden expression locked upon the volcano.
Nya closed her eyes, the pain and suffering, it was overloading. Her heart ached with loss, it burned and moved in ways she never felt it do before. Gently opening her gaze, she allowed her gaze to move, turning away from her brother's fiery tomb.
Wu lowered his head, his grip upon his staff tightened ever so slightly. A string of words left his lips, barely audible to those around him. Nya frowned at the sight. 'Must be his way of grieving.' She thought, her gaze drifting toward the others.
They all stood silently, each watching the volcano with a heavy gaze. Tears threatening to escape their prison. In the shadows, Garmadon watched, his own gaze focused upon the erupting volcano, despite the evil in his blood, the very darkness that permeated his being, he couldn't help but shred a tear for the loss of Kai.
They stood silently, Lloyd was held tightly in Garmadons grasp, tears pouring without any sign of stopping. The silence was tense, deafening and, above all else, full of grief. Eventually, Wu moved, gently encouraging Nya to move inside. He suspected that it would be a long time before they recovered from such a sudden loss.
Rain poured relentlessly upon the Bounty, thunder echoed around them, almost as if the world was mourning Kai's death. Each of the Ninja stood, overlooking a small collection of items. Upon them, rested an old photo of Kai.
Slowly, one by one, they lit a series of candles. Tears stained their cheeks, both old and new. Eventually, the Ninja each backed away, allowing Wu and Nya to step forward. The former of the two bowed his head, frowning as he observed the collection of items.
"May you forever rest in our hearts, Kai Smith." Wu said, slowly lighting a candle. "Farewell, godson." He muttered.
Nya bit her lips, doing her best to ignore the world around her as she lit her candle. "I'm going to miss you, Kai." She was at a loss for words. Their parents had been labelled missing, and both Kai and herself had come to the conclusion they had passed on.
She hadn't known her parents well, so their sudden disappearance didn't affect her as it did Kai. But now, now she knew what Kai was feeling those short weeks following the conclusion they had died.
Yet something stirred within, something powerful. A great fire inside clashed with waves of calm and relentless water.
Wu meditated, his mind going back over recent events. Something had changed within Nya, something powerful had awoken. A mixture of elements rested inside her heart. Water and fire, two opposites, two forces of, one of creation, the other of chaos. Alone, they could be devastating, but together, they were the undoing of all life.
Yet something tugged at him, something wasn't right with all this. Kai would've had to given Nya the power of Fire in the first place for her to use have the gift. There was a stronger connection between the two then he first thought.
Whatever the connection, the power Nya had within her needed to be controlled, she needed to learn how to control it. For the safety of Ninjago, Nya needed to harness and control her gifts. And so he would train her, teach her the art of Spinjitzu, how to manipulate the Elemental Power within her heart.
Pain, unbearable pain shot throughout his body as he came around. The pain was unlike anything he'd ever felt before. It took all of his will not to burst into tears at the pain, to shrink in on himself as he wanted to wish it away.
He blinked, his surroundings all but a blur to him. The memories came back to him quickly, how he came to be in his position. His own pride, the sense of being helpless without the sword of fire. Perhaps this was the price he had to pay for being so foolish, so blind to his own training and skill.
He tried to move his left hand, only to wince in pain. With a single glance down, he noticed his hand, or what used to be his hand. Charred, burned beyond recognition or use. With his remaining hand, he grasped the nearby wall.
Teeth clenched tightly as he moved, he stumbled, falling to the ground. With a cry of shock, he hugged himself tightly. He couldn't move, the others… the others, where had they gone? He felt his heart ache, for the comfort of home, for the Bounty.
But they were gone, he needed them and they had left him. No, that wasn't right, they were coming back, they had to. They're just recovering, gearing up to search for him now. Yet, for some reason, he knew they wouldn't come.
Something snapped within him, something dark. He glanced to the volcanic ceiling, a cry of anger tore from his throat. If they wanted to abandon him, then so be it. He would become their opposite, they wanted to be soldiers of light, he'd become a soldier of darkness.
He would be the very antithesis to the Ninja. Slowly, rising to his feet, ignoring the pain that shot throughout his body. His eyes closed as he rose, fire erupting around him as the volcano reacted to his presence, the very magma below his feet bending to his control.
Purpose flooded his being, the heart of his elemental power burned brightly with the influx of power. A tornado of energy erupted around him, drawing in the magma and fire.
Flames burned away at the rock. Seconds turned to minutes as the fires and magma reshaped the entire chamber, the volcano falling to his command as he pushed forward. Pain softened as he emerged from the elemental state, a true potential, twisted and darkened by his new desire for revenge.
Corrupted eyes glanced around the newly altered chamber, taking in his new home. With a final glance, he smiled, moving towards a nearby throne. Easing himself into it, the flaming eyes of Kai glowed brightly as he allowed a twisted smirk to form.
"The Fallen One is rising."
