I've been fascinated with those "Characters Read the Stories/Watch the Series" stories. At least the concept of them. The problem is, they tend to be very reliant on using the dialogue from the series they are involved in and have very little of the reactions. I'm going to avoid that by not including any dialogue from the Potter series, just general summaries of the scenes and the characters reacting to various events. One of my biggest flaws is my ego and my tendency to go "fuck it, no one's doing it how I would do it, so I'll do it myself." If you need the dialogue, dig out your copy of the books. Or you could in theory sail the seven seas, but I'm obligated to say I don't endorse that particular method of acquiring the books.

Although there are going to be instances where we diverge from canon, especially the later we get in the stories. So do keep that in mind. Various characters, from the CW-DC shows, mostly Legends of Tomorrow, and also from the Harry Potter universe will be showing up as guests throughout this extremely ambitious project.

This story can be stand alone, but there's an interesting little bit of lore which is somewhat involved with this universe that I would like to share. Might terrify certain readers. Might confuse others. I can never do things the easy way.

I should point out, the events of this story is kind of in continuity with other projects I've posted, am posting, and are in production. Although, everything that I feel you need to know will be explained. Paragons, a story which is completed, is the initial start point of this universe. Encores is a story which exists solely on paper and in outline form which I'm shooting for a 2023 release. It has a lot about the Harry/Astra backstory from the status quo from "Just Roll With It." Likely something vaguely based on the final season of Supergirl, with Harry, Kara, and Lena as the leads will follow that. And likely something involving Season 6 and 7 of Legends will follow that. And after that, Harry gets sent back in time to his eleven year old body and the events of "Just Roll With it" happen. Granted, I think you can enjoy the story without knowing all that. Especially since half of this universe exists either on paper or in my head.

This likely would be a lot easier if I posted these series in order, but, the somewhat more serious plot stories are a bit harder to put together than the wacky crack.

In all, this series can stand alone rather well on it's own. I feel like I have a five year plan for this universe, which could end up biting me later.

"So, what's the deal with Astra?"

Harry Potter just smiled at two of his lovely wives, Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor. His recently reunited friend Astra Logue stood in the background, a bit awkwardly.

"Well, we were friends when we were younger, although I had those memories wiped after she was sent to Hell after Constantine performed a resurrection ritual to bring her mother, Natalie, who was my godmother, back to life," Harry said. "It was traumatic, so Dumbledore wiped those memories. I was this close to escaping the Dursleys."

"Ugh, them," Kara groaned.

Kara made her thoughts abduently clear about Harry's relatives numerous times. And Lena was not too fond of them either.

"Yes, them," Harry agreed. "I lost those happy few years of my childhood and went back to the road I was set on for the Wizarding World to defeating Voldemort. And then I met you, with a storied history both Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis. When I left to deal with that Encores mess after Rosier and Wilkes randomly came back from the dead, I met Astra again when I followed Constantine down to hell and later I reclaimed my lost memories. And then we saved the world from a great evil."

Harry took a breath after dropping that exposition on his wives.

"Typical Wednesday, then?" Lena asked.

"Pretty much," Harry agreed.

"And now, I want to know everything that I missed," Astra said. "Everything."

"And you will," Harry agreed. "All of you will."

Astra, Harry, Lena, and Kara returned from the hallway. On the table laid seven different books, each detailing information about Harry's seven years of Hogwarts. Sitting around the table, was the lovely Captain of the Waverider, Sara Lance, a time traveling badass ninja assassin. The co-Captain Ava Sharpe, who had been one in a million, quite literally, as she was a clone.. Zari Tarazi, the lovely owner of the air totem from the future and the owner of one of the biggest social media empires in the world. Nora Darhk, the daughter of a long time freenemy of the Legends, Damien Darhk and a current fairy godmother although one in between jobs. Mick Rory, lovable ex-rogue who once was an enemy of the Flash known as Heatwave and a former bounty hunter puppet of the Time Masters, also known as published romance author, Rebecca Silver, and one of the originals of the team. Also the only man other than Harry present in the room at the time. And then his daughter Lita, a fiery redhead, conceived during a broom closet encounter between Mick and his ex-girlfriend after he went back in time to his high school reunion. And also, Harry's goddaughter.

"That's all?" Harry asked.

"Well, Gary's busy rounding up some of the guests that will be showing up," Ava said. "The trick is to pull them from spots in the timeline which will not cause any disruption."

"Right," Harry agreed. "And Mona?"

"She's helping Gary," Sara chimed in. "And she also thinks she can't keep her mouth shut during the reading and not blurt out any spoilers."

"Which breaks the second rule of Book Club," Zari said. "Speaking of which, welcome to Book Club. We have a few rules."

"The first rule of Book Club is don't talk about Book Club," Nora said.

Lita snickered at the reference.

"The second rule is no spoilers," Zari said.

"And the third rule is no physical violence, or I will kick your ass personally," Sara said. "Discussions can get heated, especially with what we're about to read."

Harry just smiled. Fair was fair.

"So, I have to ask," Lita said. "Are these the books that were published or are they…you know, the unedited stories that Harry gave Joanne?"

"Well, there's no difference for the first few books," Harry said. "It's after year four where there are certain creative liberties taken. And I backed off on the editorial oversight."

"Something which you regret," Lena said. "I'm not too familiar with the actual books. Lillian banned anything from the house that was related to magic or fantasy. So, I didn't indulge in the books when they were around."

"Can't say you're missing out too much," Mick grunted. "First couple were decent. I gave up on the fifth book, because it was a slog to get through. Although I'm glad I got a chance to burn that bitch alive."

The Legends, Kara, Harry, and Lena all grinned at Dolores Umbridge's ultimate fate.

"Aren't we all?" Sara asked.

"Me more so than anyone," Harry agreed.

"Trust me, Dad, you weren't missing too much after book four," Lita told Mick. "Although, I feel like the actual story might be more interesting. If we're going with that one."

"Mmm, Harry's told me a bit," Kara said. "Granted, I can understand why he would like to put his years in that world behind him. Other than the few friends that he still keeps in contact with."

"So, we're going to read those books?" Astra asked. "That might take a while."

"Not, with this time-dilation device," Lena said. "This will give us more time to digest this story."

"My wife is a genius," Harry chimed in. Lena and Kara both grinned. It could really apply to either. "Allows us to increase the time we have in this room compared to the time outside of the room.

"And we won't necessarily be reading them," Sara said. "Gideon?"

Gideon, the advanced artificial intelligence of the Wave Rider, chimed in.

"I will be replicating the scenes in a three dimensional hologram based on the historical data which has been painstakingly obtained over the years," Gideon said.

"Fair enough," Astra said. "So, this everyone?"

"Well, Behrad, Nate and Ray are having bro-time, whatever that means," Zari said. "So they won't be joining us, at least not for this initial reading. And as we mentioned, Gary is out with Mona collecting the guests. Not sure they're going to join us or not."

"And John?" Astra asked.

"He's doing Constantine things," Harry said.

"Do I want to know?" Kara asked.

"No" Harry said.

Kara shrugged. Fair enough.

"We have a packed room as it is," Ava said. "Gideon, whenever you're ready."

Astra locked eyes with Harry.

"You wanted to know everything," Harry said.

"And why do I have a feeling I'm going to be seeing some things I won't like?" Astra asked.

"No spoilers," Harry chimed in.

Astra folded her arms and lightly stuck out her tongue at Harry She wanted to know about what happened to her best friend, between her getting sent to Hell and meeting him later after the entire Encores fiasco.

The scene plays where we meet the Dursleys of Number Four Privet Drive.

"Ugh," Astra groaned. "Them."

"My thoughts exactly," Kara said.

"Well, this is setting up my situation," Harry commented.

"These people are trying so hard to be normal, they're likely to draw attention to themselves," Lena said. "Don't they know that?"

"The Dursleys aren't self-aware at all," Harry remarked.

"That's a nice way of saying they're idiots," Astra said.

"Or in denial," Ava chimed in.

"Very much in denial," Kara agreed.

More of Vernon Dursley's day is shown. Meeting with a peculiar looking cat, some weird people in the street, and his morning of shouting at people.

"Imagine working for him," Sara said.

"I'd rather not, living with him was bad enough," Harry said.

"Sharing the same air as him is bad enough," Astra said. "How much longer do we have to put up with him?"

"Too long," Lita said.

"And we have these wizards just blurting out about their super secret world in the middle of the street, "Ava said. "You know, I thought there were times where us Legends were walking a dangerous line with some of the insane stuff we do."

"I'm pretty sure the Oblivators were working overtime," Harry said.

"Safe possibility," Nora agreed. "Although performing memory-charms on that many people can be dangerous. All it takes is one slip up."

"To be fair, you just need to get the more credible ones," Ava said.

"The ones who come across as raving loons, they're going to make it sound like some sort of conspiracy theory," Harry said.

"And Mr. Normal Family would fit that bill," Lena scoffed.

Astra eyed the screen for a second as Vernon Dursley's image flashed upon the screen. Hate radiated through her eyes.

"I almost forgot how much of a loathsome human being Dursley could be," Astra said.

"Trust me ,you'll be reminded," Lita said.

"Remember ,no spoilers," Mick told his daughter.

"That's not a spoiler, that's just a fact," Lita said.

"She's got a point," Nora said with a grin.

Unfortunately, Astra knew Vernon Dursley survived these books. She had been eagerly waiting for that asshole to show up in Hell so she could torture him. He never did.

Life really was unfair sometimes. Harry reached over and wrapped his arm around her, with Kara sitting on Harry's other side.

More with Vernon Dursley. His freakout over hearing a whisper about his nephew. And running into the strange man. And his encounter with a tabby cat.

"Oh, honey, you really have never dealt with cats, have you?" Zari asked. "You don't just tell one to shoo."

"The thing sassed that fat bastard," Mick said with a chuckle.

"As well she should have," Harry said.

"So, Harvey Potter?" Sara asked. "Doesn't really have the same ring to it, doesn't it?"

"And Harold," Lita said. "Which can be shortened to Harry. And Harvey could be too, I guess."

"No one accused Vernon Dursley of being intelligent," Astra said. "Or, you know, a decent human being."

"Why do I have a feeling things are going to get worse?" Kara asked.

"Mmm hmm," Harry said.

"Great," Astra said before she turned to Kara. "How much do you know about this anyway?"

"Enough," Kara said. "Harry's pretty much confirmed a lot to me over the years."

"Let's keep going," Ava said. "No matter how much we all can agree that Vernon Dursley is a loathsome human being, we have to keep going to get to the actual story."

"Thanks, Ava," Harry said.

The worse would be yet to come.

Vernon watching the news and freaking out even more is shown. And then his conversation with Petunia about Harry. Along with Vernon's assertion that this could not affect them in any way.

"And I can almost hear Murphy snickering," Kara said. "Because, Vernon just evoked his supernatural fifth dimensional powers."

Murphy, the fifth-dimensional trickster, who specialized in karmic justice had been well known to the group. He was fraternity brothers with the infamous Mister Mxyzptlk.

"Great," Astra said. "So, it's because of some fifth dimensional idiot that Harry was sent to the worst place on Earth."

"Well, no, not entirely, although I'm sure Murphy would be amused by Vernon getting fucked over," Harry said.

"Would be less amusing if you weren't sent there," Astra said. "And where does that woman come off talking about your name?"

"Given she thought Dudley was an acceptable name, I would not take anything she says seriously," Lena said.

"How did you people stay secret after that?" Lita asked. "Just curious."

"Well, people have a general tendency to ignore the obvious even when it's in front of their face," Ava said.

"Which is how the Legends get away with half of the shit we do," Sara said.

"Still think we shouldn't play with fire that often," Ava said.

"Speak for yourself," Mick said. "I never play with fire."

The arrival of Dumbledore is shown next, along with McGonagall being revealed as the cat who had been stalking Privet Drive that day. Their discussion on the events of that Halloween night. Along with Dumbledore claming he did not know about how Harry survived.

"He knew," Astra said.

"I know," Harry said.

"He knew," Astra said

"I know, Astra," Harry said a bit more forcefully.

"You have to admit, that Put-Outer thing is pretty handy," Ava said.

"Didn't that…"

"Yes," Harry interrupted before Lita could ask her question. "I told her. Seemed like too petty of a detail to correct."

"Maybe you should have talked about the petty details a bit more," Nora said.

"Yes, I should have," Harry agreed. "I did not think this would blow up as big as it did."

"Really?" Kara asked.

"No one did," Harry said. "That thing they're calling a Put-Outer is a Deluminator. That's it's proper name. Whether that's a better or worse name, that's up to you. Not really a spoiler, just a correction."

"Well, whatever it's called, I want one," Sara said.

"I know what to get you for your birthday, then," Harry remarked.

Sara just smiled in response. She motioned for Gideon to continue.

More of Dumbledore and McGonagall conversation about Harry being sent to the Dursleys.

"That smells like a lie," Lita said. "About them being the only family you have left."

"It's because it is one," Harry said. "In Britain, yes. And on my mother's side of the family, true, except for one person. Although to be fair to Dumbledore, she was indisposed at the time."

"Even if it was her, she would still be better than them," Astra said.

"Yes, and I would have been better prepared to deal with…what I had to deal with," Harry agreed. "But, there was the extended Potter family over in America."

"Dumbledore believed that blood protection charm would be your salvation," Astra said.

"Well, blood magic is based on intent," Nora said. "And given how Lily and Petunia had a strained relationship, the actual protective nature of the charm would be strained as well. She would only take you in grudgingly."

"I actually feel like the blood protection worked as it should when I was with Astra and Natalie, for that time I lived there," Harry said.

"That's because it was meant for you to be put in a loving home," Astra said through gritted teeth. "I remember Mum and John talking about it one time. And it would have been stronger than ever, likely expelling…"

"Astra, spoilers!" Ava warned her.

"Sorry," Astra said. "Continue, I guess."

More of Dumbledore's conversation with McGonagall.

"Wait?" Zari asked. "They wanted to just drop you off there, with a letter."

"Yes," Harry said.

"They didn't come to the door and talk to them at all?"

"Yes," Harry confirmed.

"Not even bothering to ask your relatives if they could take you in, just assuming they would," Zari said.

"Yes," Harry said.

"I don't like the Dursleys," Sara said.

"Not many do," Lita said.

"But, that's kind of fucked," Sara said.

"That's very fucked," Mick said. "And do you realize how fucking cold it gets in the middle of November in Great Britain? You could have frozen to death. Or walked off and got hit by a bus."

Both Kara and Lena paled with the implications. How easily it would have ended there.

"I'd like to say that Dumbledore likely put some charms to prevent anything like that from happening," Nora said. "Even though expecting competence from those people is asking for too much."

"Do you know what precautions he took to make sure that didn't happen?" Ava asked Harry.

"I never asked," Harry said. "Astra?"

Astra stared at the frozen image. It was almost like she was trying to will herself through the screen to strangle Dumbledore with his own beard. Harry put a hand on her shoulder.

"Continue," Astra curtly said. "Please."

More was shown leading up to Hagrid's arrival.

"Would you trust Hagrid with your life?" Kara asked.

"My life, yes," Harry said. "My secrets, not so much."

The rest of the group all stared at Harry. Although those who met Hagrid understood.

"Explains why everyone knows about you neomg the Boy-Who-Lived," Sara said. "Guy has a big heart. And an even bigger mouth."

"Especially when booze is involved," Lita said.

Hagrid's arrival and the first image of baby Harry is shown.

The ladies all cooed at the cuteness of baby Harry. Harry just smiled. Mick leaned over.

"Cute kid," Mick said. "What the hell happened?"

"Life happened," Harry said.

"So, he didn't even try, did he?" Astra asked. "With the scar."

"No," Harry said.

"Useless old tosser," Astra grumbled. "If he just took ten minutes to understand what protections Aunt Lily used, we could have avoided a lot of bullshit."

"That implies that he wanted to understand," Lita darkly said.

"It's Dumbledore," Nora said. "He has his mind made up and no one hardly tells him what he's done wrong. Or at least fights him on it."

"Except for those who are not exactly people I would trust either," Harry admitted.

"He does have a loyalty that would make a lot of cult leaders blush with envy," Lita said.

"I'm sorry," Astra said.

Harry raised an eyebrow.

"Why?"

"Just, I am," Astra said. "Mum really wished we could get back sooner, but she had difficulties getting back into the country. There were a lot of laws regulating travel because of Voldemort and his followers. We barely escaped the country before they really cracked down. And they did not really start lifting the bans until about five years later."

"And they didn't rush to do it on your account," Nora said.

"No," Astra agreed. "If only Lily went with her first instincts to leave the country, but James wanted to stay and fight, and I guess that she didn't want you to live in a broken home. I don't know, I'm just guessing."

It may have been easier to leave the country because Voldemort pretty much kept to the United Kingdom for his campaign of terror.

"Let's continue," Sara said.

Final moments with Hagrid, McGonagall, and Dumbledore and leaving Harry to his fate, alone on the doorstep, with just a note.

Kara, Lena, Sara, and Astra stared at the screen in heightened disapproval. They were not the only ones. Just the most obvious with their disapproval for how Dumbledore handled this.

"Long night," Ava said.

"Cold night," Zari said.

"Very cold night," Harry said. "And somehow I slept through it. Guess, Dumbledore worked some magic where I would only wake up when Petunia discovered me."

"And what if someone just snatched you off of the porch?" Nora asked.

"Not sure," Harry said.

"And now they're celebrating while you got sentenced to that awful place," Astra said. "And Dumbledore knows. He knows what you're getting into. And he left you there. Twice."

"And every summer for the next six years after I went to Hogwarts," Harry said.

"If only you had friends that would have fought for you," Astra said. "You did have friends at Hogwarts, right?"

"Yes," Harry said. "And you'll meet them soon enough."

"Hopefully, they are invited to this reading," Astra said. "Because, I've got questions for them."

Everyone in the room looked apprehensive at Astra's mood.

"Rule 3," Ava reminded her.

"No violence," Astra said. "I know."

Harry had a feeling Astra might need to be reminded of that.

"Do you?" Sara asked.

"I do,' Astra said. "I'll behave. I just want to get to know Harry's old school friends. I'm just talking."

"I'll hold you to that one," Sara said. "Speaking of which, Gideon, any luck on the guests?"

"Gary has just reported back, saying that the first one should be showing up rather soon," Gideon said. "They will be trickling in as needed."

"So, Harry's with the Dursleys now," Lita said.

"Yes," Harry said.

"Yes," Astra grumbled.

"And imagine opening your beautiful green-eyes and seeing that as your first image of your new home," Zari said.

The image of Petunia Dursley bent over Harry and screaming flickered over the screen. Everyone flinched.

"Not the welcome party I would want," Lena said.

"No one deserves that," Kara commented.

"Still think it's kind of fucked they didn't get a choice in taking you in," Sara said. "This excuses nothing they did since."

"I'm beginning to think there were no good guys in how your situation was handled," Ava said.

"Just now?" Nora asked.

"You know what I mean," Ava said.

"Dumbledore knew," Kara said.

"Albus Dumbledore was only human," Harry said. "It's unfortunate that some people acted like he was a god who could do no wrong."

"True," Kara agreed.

"He did plenty wrong," Astra said.

Harry understood better than anyone else that the worst was yet to come. Dumbledore's cult of personality caused a lot of problems for him and for the Wizarding World in general. The fact the magical world crumbled underneath Voldemort's feet after Dumbledore's death told much.

"Next chapter?" Lita asked.

The group murmured in their agreement.

To Be Continued
