The abandoned city was golden in the light of eventide, as if it was nurturing some happy memory of times passed. It is the year 2147, and the city in question is the city of Shintotari in southwest Japan, it is here we find a young blonde haired whisker- marked boy named Naruto Uzumaki, he is confused and doesn't know where he is.

Naruto sits up and looks around, finding himself in a strange new place- a city that was in flames and seemingly abandoned.

"Where am I?" the blonde Genin asks as he looks around at the devastation all around him.

(Volcania)

Lord Dread calls Sauron, his faithful Bio-dread to him.

"Yes Master?"

"A biological signal has just been detected in Shintotari. Go and investigate before Power can."

"Of course, Master. It shall be done."

At the same time...

The PowerJet XT-7 is flying above the city, scanning for survivors and Bio-dreads.

Jennifer "Pilot" Chase is flying over the decimated city, her scans aren't coming up with any signs of life yet. Outside the jet, Matthew "Hawk" Masterson is flying next to the jet in his Power Suit, acting as an escort.

"Anything on the scans yet, Pilot?" Hawk asked over the Com system.

Before she could answer, the Bio Signature Register Indicator hummed to life, indicating that something or someone was in the destroyed city with a heartbeat.

"Just picked up a signal, sending you the coordinates, I'll contact the Captain, Tank, and Scout at the Power Base and let them know what's going on." she says.

"Roger that." Hawk replied.

Meanwhile, Sauron has just landed in Shintotari, he activates his scanners and began his search.

Naruto had been enjoying a bowl of ramen in the burned out building he'd gotten into, giddy with excitement when he realized that it had been a ramen diner at some point in time. At that he thought about Tuechi and Ayame and the Ichiraku Ramen stand back home, he had wondered where he was and if he'd ever get back to his two precious people. Suddenly, his sensitive hearing picked up something, rapid footfalls, someone was running.

"Somebody help me! I don't wanna be digitized!" A young girl screamed as she ran through the street. Naruto looks outside of the ramen diner, seeing the girl.

She is very tall with brown skin, black hair and brown eyes.

Sauron fires a laser blast at the girl's left leg, burning her and causing her to trip and tumble on the ground, ending up on her back. What was once a dress is now a dirty, flimsy piece of fabric, held together by a handful of fibers hanging from her shoulders like a discarded old towel.

It's filled with holes which have grown over time, leaving much of her exposed to the elements.

She's wearing a ripped fleece over her dress. It's worn out, dirty and stained with grime, but at least it helps her fight the elements, even if only for a little.

Her pants have seen better times as well. Wear and tear has turned what were once small tears into big gaping holes. But at least she has shoes to protect her feet. Although they're stained, a size too big and the soles are worn to barely a sliver of what they were.

She wears a large scarf around her neck and has it wrapped around her face just below the eyes. It's old and ragged, but relatively clean.
Her head is covered by a beanie, there's a small dirt stain on one of the sides, but that's its only real flaw.

The heartless machine stalked over to his intended prey and raised his left arm, intent on digitizing her, when suddenly out of nowhere-.

"No you don't!" Naruto yelled as he leapt through the air and nailed the Bio-Dread square in the face with a powerful kick that sent Sauron flying three or four blocks down the street through several rusted and burning cars into the wall of a destroyed church.

Above them, Hawk is relaying what he just saw to Pilot.

Naruto turned and walked over to the girl, who is curled up in the fetal position, crying softly.

"Hey, are you OK?" Naruto asks gently, holding out a hand to the girl.

Abigail stopped crying when she heard a boy's soft voice, looking up she met the most amazingly blue eyes she'd ever seen and then she saw the offered hand that the boy had out to her, she takes it and allows him to pull her up to her feet just as Hawk lands beside the pair, surprising them both.

"Whoa easy kids, I'm not gonna hurt you." Hawk says as the PowerJet touches down a little ways away from the trio. Then Jennifer, in her Power Suit came out and joined her teammate and the two teens.

"Where's Sauron?" Pilot asked.

"Don't know, this kid here," Hawk said gesturing towards Naruto and smiling. "Just dropkicked that bucket of bolts and scrap metal down a few blocks."

Jennifer looks at Naruto, who is smiling and rubbing the back of his head sheepishly and blushing. Oddly, she found this cute.

Then, the girl looks at Naruto and launched herself at him, engulfing the blonde in a tight, desperate hug.

In her embrace the world stopped still on its axis. There was no time, no wind, no rain. Naruto felt his mind become peaceful.

"Thank you, thank you so much!" Abigail said as happy tears streamed down her cheeks.

"A-anytime." Naruto said a little shyly as he's not used to interactions with others like this yet.

"OK, let's get you two aboard the PowerJet and get out of here." Hawk said.

No other words are said as the group boards the PowerJet and leaves the city and a highly embarrassed and upset Sauron.

"So, kids what are your names? I'm Matthew Masterson, but you can just call me Matt."

"I-I'm Abigail Fox." the girl says timidly.

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki, believe it." the blonde says enthusiastically.

Matt laughed, oh, the Power Base is definitely going to be interesting with him around.

"I'm Jennifer." Pilot called out from her seat. "Nice to meet you both." she says.

The foursome soon arrived at the Power Base and after being fed and cleaned up, Matt and Jennifer bring Naruto and Abigail to meet Jonathan, Michael, and Robert.

"So, you found these two in Shintotari and you said that Sauron was after Abigail and Naruto here saved her by dropkicking Sauron four blocks down the street from you rescued them?" Jonathan asks in confirmation, to which Matt nods.

The Captain then turns to Naruto.

"Who are you?"

Abigail suddenly became afraid and reflexively grabs Naruto's right hand, seeking comfort and protection, he smiles and gives her hand a gentle squeeze.

hour later, Naruto finishes his explanation, the Power Team and Abigail were amazed, horrified, angered, and saddened by the tale that Naruto told them about his life in Konoha.

"Naruto?" Jennifer says.

"Hmm?" he answered. Arms suddenly wrap around him warmly, and then he hears.

"You're not alone anymore, we'll all be your family, OK?" Jennifer whispers before placing a loving kiss on the blonde's left cheek, blushing as she did this but smiled when she noticed Naruto's blush mirrored her own.

Once the rest of team was introduced to Naruto and Abigail they explained everything to Naruto about the Metal Wars and the subsequent collapse of humanity.

Now, Naruto longed to be back home even more than ever.

(Meanwhile, In Konoha)

Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi and several others were scouring the outskirts of Konoha for Naruto, the three remaining members of Team Kakashi were now feeling bad for how they had treated Naruto, well everyone except for Sasuke. He really didn't care one way or the other.

(With Naruto)

Though no one here in this time has any idea what chakra is, Naruto does teach Abigail how to use kunai, shuriken, taijutsu, and paper bombs and in return, Pilot teaches Naruto about the Power Suits, the CrysBlades, the Starbits, and blasters that they employ to fight the Bio-Dreads. Naruto also begins seeing Matt as a mentor, taking after him in many ways. And Jennifer also finds herself becoming more and more attracted to the eighteen year-old blonde as the days go by.

Slowly but surely, Naruto has begun to find his place in this desolate, fearful world.
