A/N: Oh boy a reaction fic. For those of you who read my other story with Torchwick, that story isn't dead (Or I hope it's not) But I'm having trouble overcoming writers block. I have legit no clue how to continue so I decided to write something that doesn't require much plot with the hopes of overcoming said writers block. (I also really enjoy react fics so I'ma try my hand at it too.) Anyways, enjoy and lemme know what you think.
(P.S.: I don't own the cover image)
Professor Ozpin was having an… interesting day. It had started out normally enough, he'd woken up in his fairly soft and comfortable bed, which resided in his personal room within Beacon Tower, before getting on his feet and starting his day. He got dressed in his standard outfit, glasses included, before scarfing down a small but nutritious breakfast. With a mug of hot cocoa in hand and his cane, The Long Memory, in the other, he made his way to his office.
This is where things began to get a tad more interesting. After seating himself at his desk, he was expecting to find a small mountain of put off paper work, which he assumed was placed there by Glynda, whom the night prior had had enough of his procrastination and had more or less forced him to finally get the work done.
While that expectation had proven to be well placed, the remote off to the side with a yellow sticky note on top with the words "PRESS ME!" on it was not something he'd ever have been able to predict. Simply put, he was quite surprised. His first assumption was that Qrow was playing some sort of prank on him but a quick check of his memory told him that he shouldn't be back from his mission for quite some time.
His next thought was one of the students doing the same but that couldn't have been it. He firmly remembered the door to his office having been locked, a key required to let him inside. A quick scan of the surroundings showed no disturbance or any indication that someone had broken in through either the door or one of the windows.
Ozpin quickly brought out his student files and scanned them for the next half an hour, making sure that no one had a semblance that could have perhaps allowed them access to his office without him realizing it but a thorough if not so quick check told him that his fears were misplaced. He returned the files to their proper place and took a confused sip of his not-so-hot-anymore cocoa.
His eyes glanced back over to the remote, which hadn't moved from it's spot. Ozpin decided to carefully remove the sticky note, and was beholden to quite the advanced device. It had a plethora of functions and settings for a multitude of purposes. The thing that caught his attention the most, was the vivid red button in the top right corner of the remote with the standard power sign on it.
Ozpin shot a glance at the mountain of paperwork in front of him, which hadn't gotten any less imposing over the rough half hour he had been sat in his chair. He turned to the clock on his desk and noted that there was still some time before the school day properly began, the students were most likely still taking care of their morning routines. He glanced at the remote again, before returning his gaze to the mountain of paper and then back again.
…
'Well it probably wouldn't hurt to at least see what it does.' Ozpin thought with a small, mischievous grin.
With a small amount of anticipation, Ozpin raised his hand and extended his finger, before letting his hand hover over the button for a few moments. He hesitated, wondering if this was really such a good idea when the paperwork came back to the front of his mind. With a nod, his finger descended upon the button, before the two made contact and the force of Ozpins finger caused the button to finally be pushed.
For a moment, nothing happened. Everything was quiet as Ozpin sat there, staring at the remote for a few seconds. When it was evident that he "had been got" as some of his students would most likely say, he stood up with a soft chuckle as he fully grabbed the remote and brought it close to his face. Then the remote began to glow and everything went wrong.
Ozpin was most confused as to how this had happened, bare the sense of some sort of magic being used, but the next thing he saw was the inside of a highly modernized cinema room with one of the most high-tech screen's he'd ever seen. As he turned, he saw a few doors leading to various places on the sides of the room, with what seemed to be extraordinarily comfortable seating placed opposite the screen. Then he heard the groans of some of his students.
Looking down, Ozpin noted several individuals with whom he could put a name to a face. There were eight of them, the leader and members of both Team RWBY and Team JNPR. All of which were on the floor, some laying face down still trying to sleep despite being fully clothed for the day, some coming to as they yawned and rubbed their eyes but most were already fully awake, yet dazed as they tried to get their bearings on the admittedly soft looking carpet flooring.
Ruby Rose noticed him first as those pure and innocent silver eyes glanced up into his own dark brown orbs. He smiled slightly in amusement at the confused expression on her face. "Professor… Ozpin?" She asked with bewilderment.
"Good morning Miss Rose." Ozpin replied softly. "I hope you've had a pleasant day so far." He chuckled slightly at the contemplative expression on her face and offered her a hand, which she eagerly took as she replied.
"Well it's been okay. But then this happened…" She looked around and took in the sights, her eyes glowing with child-like awe. "Where are we exactly Professor?"
"I think that's something we'd all like to know Ruby." An irritated and subtly haughty voice cut through the air. Ozpin glanced over to see Miss Weiss Schnee scowling at her partner and team leader, but quickly schooled her expression upon seeing the Headmaster of Beacon. "Professor! I-I didn't see you there!" She said nervously.
"It is quite alright Miss Schnee." Ozpin replied, before glancing back at Ruby. "As for your question Miss Rose, that's something I would like to find out as well." He looked on as the Champion of Mistral helped a disoriented Jaune Arc to his feet while one Lie Ren practically heaved Nora Valkyrie up with all of his might and even then barely succeeded.
"Wake up Blake." Yang Xiao-Long's voice was heard and Ozpin looked over to see Ruby's older sister nudging the feline faunus with her foot, the latter only hissing in annoyance, much like the animal her ears resembled. Eventually, she got to her feet with some help from the blonde. As the students got to terms with their new surroundings, Ozpin turned towards the screen with the remote in his hand.
He glanced at the very same button which had put him in this situation, weather it was a heaven or hell, Ozpin would have to see but it was something interesting and that was enough for him to continue. With the button pushed, the screen lit up as some sort of video began to play before a… cartoon-like caricature of a top hat with a face appeared on the screen.
"Oooh!" Nora and Ruby hummed at the screen with child-like awe written clearly on their faces while Yang snickered and Ren face palmed at the display.
"Welcome all of you!" The words were fairly clear with the standard Valish accent. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is a bit of a mouthful so you can just refer to me as Hat or Hatman if you will, not like it'll matter much. You won't be seeing much of me after today!" Ozpin wasn't sure if he should have been amused or disturbed at the cheerful attitude the hat caricature displayed.
"Now I've seen everything…" Weiss muttered while Nora whispered something about forgetting to take her medication but Ozpin was focused on other things.
"Now I know all of you are wondering what has happened and where you are. Not to worry, I will explain everything momentarily. All of you are inside, what I like to call…" The students all quieted in anticipation. "A movie theater." Hatman got an offended look as if he could see the unimpressed faces from Team RWBY and JNPR. "What? Were you expecting some impressively complicated name? No, it is what it is."
"Anyways, while this little room is just a move theater, it is anything but standard. The screen in front of you, well where else would it be, has the ability to view different places, people and times throughout the multiverse!" Now that got reactions out of the group.
"Did I hear that correctly or did it- he... say what I think he said?" Pyrrha asked cautiously who stood next to an absolutely flabbergasted Jaune.
Nora let out a loud gasp as her pupils dilated at the image in her head. "Maybe there'll be a universe where everything is made of pancakes!" A little bit of drool dripped down her chin but Ren came to the rescue with a tissue, wiping her chin before snapping Nora back to reality.
"That's… actually pretty interesting…" Blake started slowly with wide eyes. "Assuming we're being told the truth." Her tone wasn't accusatory, simply cautions and rightfully so.
Hatman continued anyways. "The remote, which one of you is presumably holding-" All eyes immediately zeroed in on Ozpin and the remote he held. "has the power to dictate what you watch and how you watch it. Yes you heard that right, I am leaving everything to you. With effectively unlimited choices, it would be much better if you viewers were given the choice on what you view. You will be able to view anything, and I mean ANYTHING, within your own universe or any other universe out there, at any point in time in it's history! I'd say that's a pretty good deal, wouldn't you agree?"
"Wait a minute!" Weiss suddenly exclaimed with concern before turning to Ozpin. "Professor Ozpin, are we really going to be sitting here wasting our time watching these… supposed universes that apparently exist… when we have much more important things to do? Like studying?" She looked around for reassurance from her fellow hunters and huntresses in training but their faces clearly indicated that they did not agree with her.
Nora and Ruby were far too excited, practically vibrating on the spot in anticipation at the idea of watching other universes, Yang immediately sided with her sister as did Ren with his partner. Jaune and Blake looked fairly intrigued and Pyrrha also seemed interested, although she at least had the decency to look apologetic when Weiss turned to her. "Sorry…" She mumbled with a small grin. Ozpin made to respond but he was cut off by the screen.
"There are additional functions such as subtitles, volume and brightness adjustment, censorship and more. If food is a problem, simply will whatever food or drink item you desire to appear and it will. If sleep and other necessities are a problem, simply go through one of the many doors located to your presumably lefts and rights, assuming you are facing the screen. The doors are labeled accordingly."
"Professor Ozpin?" Weiss asked again, seeking an answer to her last question.
Ozpin thought it over with a somber frown before replying. "I am sorry all of you. As much as I would personally love to stay here and view what this theater has in store for us, we simply do not have time at the moment. It is possible we could return during a free day and-"
"Did I mention that this room has it's own flow of time and that several years in here is about one second on the outside?"
There was a noise resembling a "poof" or a "zoom" and suddenly Ozpin vanished from where he was standing. The students brains failed to catch up with them for a few moments but when they did, they all turned to where Ozpin had seated himself, a mug of fresh steaming hot cocoa in his hand, his cane leaning against the seat beside him. He took a sip before looking up at the students.
"Students, I recommend getting comfortable. I believe you all deserve a small break anyways." Seven out of the eight students looked either excited, semi happy or at least somewhat interested. One out of eight looked irritated but nevertheless found her seating.
"For your first viewing, I'll limit it to your universe which basically means you'll simply be viewing something that has already happened first hand or something that has yet to happen within the world you all live in. The time however will be random. Please, get comfortable and enjoy!" With that, Hatman faded from the screen.
"This is certainly turning out to be an interesting year…" Ozpin muttered after taking a sip of his cocoa as the screen came to life.
A/N: Okay so I'm pretty damn sure most people reading this fic know the drill. I'm going to have the cast react to different multiverses OR their own future. I'm not gonna limit what I have them react to btw, It can literally be anything requested. (Aside from smut and that kind of shit, not when Ruby is 15). Sometimes they'll be reacting to their alternate selves, sometimes they'll be reacting to people they don't know, it really depends on what it is. It can be from any point in time in canon RWBY, a game, a movie, a tv show, fanfiction, a funny video on Youtube, irl shit like history, etc. ANYTHING!
Also, this isn't going to be an Ozpin centric fic like a lot of the Jaune multiverse fics are despite the title. If the cast react to themselves in the place of other characters from... let's say a movie of some kind then the characters that the RWBY cast are gonna replace will depend on which character I think fit's best (Although if you request a scenario, you can also recommend which character you'd think fit's best for a certain role.) and even then, they won't always be replacing themselves.
The fic also takes place in between season 1 and season 2, not long after the robbery at the docks. I'll also be bringing in more characters as time goes on, even the villains will make an appearance at some point. There might be a small amount of plot with the characters reacting but that's gonna be a really minor focus. But yeah, tell me what you guys want to see and how you want to see it. I'll have the first chapter where they react to shit up as soon as I'm done going over it and you can tell me if you guys would think I should change something, but after that I'm just gonna update whenever something is ready. See you in a little while. : )
