Hello… I came up with this story for two reasons. One- I broke a tooth. And two- one of my friends on here loves stories like this. What happens to me isn't painful and as dramatic as Nick's. But I still wanted to write something. The story is set while Nick and Sam still live across the street from Grey House.

It's told from Nick's point of view.

If someone would have asked me if I would ever try any of Cassie and Bell Book And Candle's methods against anything, before that one day I probably would have laughed at them.

But then, that day…

The two Aspirin's the school nurse had given me obviously weren't going to help against the pain of a cracked tooth…

At last it made me want to cry and scream my lungs out, anything as the pain eased. And almost as on automat my feet led me towards the square instead of along with Grace towards the house right on the other side of the street from Grey House. And while half my face throbbed worse than ever, I went up to Cassie's store and in before I would have the time to change my mind.

"Hello Nick." I barely had the time to come inside before her, as usual friendly voice met me and as usual she was turned towards a shelf and could impossibly have seen me entering. "Nice to see you…"

I would have liked to hear that she wouldn't have expected to see me in here. But then of course she was Cassie and she had probably known since forever that I would be here at exactly this moment. And also why I was here, even though I didn't quite understand why at first when I noticed she was standing turned to a shelf with some spices on it.

"Hey… you see… obviously I'm not meant to be eating egg rolls… I… I'll…." Just in that moment my whole face throbbed worse than ever while I knew Cassie just knew in some way like she always did. "I need help…." A deep frown had formed in her forehead. I could only imagine what she thought, me standing in front of her with a hand to my chin and my voice turning into whimpering in pain. "I think I've come to the right place…"

"Here you go." Cassie handed me a small flask without answering to what I said. "Carnation oil." She explained, I was in too much pain to be able to concentrate my vision to read it. "Drip it on a piece of cotton, then hold it towards the tooth until it eases the pain…" I hadn't looked up from the flask and felt skeptic. "Trust me. It works!"

Maybe I should have known Cassie enough by now that I really knew I could trust her and her way. That even my dad had lit up to her and her ways and so should I….

Still the pain made me want to bawl my eyes out while I didn't know what to say. At last, moving slowly I handed the flask back to Cassie while turning my back against her and pulling up my wallet from my coat pocket.

"Can you put it in my bag? The small pocket at the front?" For some reason Cassie didn't try and put it in my bag. "How much for that?"

"Consider it a gift." I sent her a relieved kind of look. "You do look like you need it. Now, get that on the tooth, then an ice pack wrapped in a towel. That's the best I can do for you right now so get a dentist appointment…"

I couldn't help but whimper at that one word- or two words ending what she said. Even though, ever since hearing the crack going through my jaw and head when the piece of my tooth broke off and I- seconds later realized what it was, knew I had to go to the one place I hated more than any words could ever tell- ten times, no! A hundred times worse than I had ever hated school.

"I know…. Now, I'll go get you some cotton so you can get that on as quickly as possible. She handed the flask of oil back to me and then disappeared from me for a few seconds before she came back with the cotton. "Let me show you…" She dropped oil on it and then gave it to me. "Come here and sit down…"

She didn't have to ask twice, with the cotton in my mouth and with a deep sigh I sunk down on a chair while she took care of another customer. Then, while she came back and I could finally move my hand and cotton from my mouth with a sigh of relief, I just knew I wanted and had to give her some kind of answer before I turned home.

"My teeth had a fight with an egg roll… egg roll won."

Random fact (I always leave one at the end of a chapter)

I don't have a toothache and never have had one. I have to admit this wasn't all too easy to write. But I hope I did okay.
