Power Rangers – Ooze Oblivion
Prologue
Ten thousand years ago, the planet of Sorcery 7 was a raging battlefield as the forces of darkness waged war on all magic users on the planet and the dimension connected to it, the uncanny Mystic Forest, the source of all magic in the universe.
"NO!" A shrill cry pierced through the chaotic sounds of war as one woman in white let loose a wave of arcane energy that reduced the vicious tengu warriors, who had converged on her, to scattered piles of black feathers. Tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably as she fell to her knees, cradling the bloody corpse of her husband, a knight of the realm.
"Impressive." She heard someone clapping their hands together. The sorceress looked up to glare at the man… if he could be still called that, responsible for all the bloodshed and carnage… the leader of the United Alliance of Evil, Ivan Ooze.
"Ooh, that was fun. Do it again! Do it again!" The purple skinned warlord giggled.
"You demented monster." She spat. "Our suffering… Our losses… Is it nothing but a game for you?"
Ivan paused, stroking his chin and looking upwards, pretending to be deep in thought. "Umm… well, sort of." Then he broke into a grin. "Well, what are you waiting for? Do that again."
The woman's eyes went wide.
"Well, I can't wait all day!" Ivan huffed. "Oh wait, I know what will get you going."
He raised his hands to the air and made a swift motion, casting a quick spell. Almost instantaneously, multiple bolts of violet lightning shot down from the sky, hitting the battlefield.
The woman looked around terrified. All her companions, the warriors who were defending the entrance to the Mystic Forest from the evil army, had been incinerated on spot. Nothing remained of them except burnt corpses and ashes.
The woman stilled. This man… No, he was no man. He was a demon.
He had killed so many of their best warriors without batting an eye.
This was just a game to him.
She whimpered as she broke down crying.
"And here comes the thunder!" Ivan squealed as the sound of her sobs were drowned out by the ear deafening rumbling of thunder that followed the lightning that Ooze had summoned.
As the thunder subsided, the woman looked up to see Ivan Ooze leering at her, his tengu warriors and oozelings surrounding her. She was the last of her comrades. This demon had slaughtered all of them. She knew that she was no match for him, yet she stood up. She would not cower. She knew she would not survive this but she wouldn't let this creature see her break down, even though all she wanted to do right now was give up. Every muscle of her body ached. Every thought in her mind told her to just surrender and await the killing blow from this mad man. Everyone she knew and cared for had perished. She wanted nothing more than to be reunited with her friends and family but she wouldn't go down without fighting and if possible, take this monstrosity with her to the afterlife.
"Yippee!" Ooze squealed as if he were a child who was just handed a bag of candies. "It's been a long, long time since I had a good fight."
Her eyes flickered with white light and a small wind picked up around her feet, before it became more ferocious and blew back her opponents except the warlord who was grinning ear to ear like a mad man.
"YOU WILL PAY!" The woman seethed in rage. She started to hover in the air, glowing in a golden aura. She thrust her hands forward and mustered all the light magic she could siphon from her surroundings, forming a giant orb of light.
"Gojika Hollow Mirage!" She chanted, hurling the orb at the monster, watching with bated breath as the orb coalesced around the warlord, trapping him. The oozelings and tengas hit the orb trying to free their master only to leap backwards as they were electrocuted.
Ivan blinked disbelievingly as the orb started to shrink alongside him. "Oh no!"
The woman dropped to the ground unceremoniously. That was the strongest spell the elders of the forest had taught her. It was supposed to trap demons and evil mages in orbs of light energy for all eternity. To cast the spell, she had spent up all her magical reserves. She crawled towards her husband, embracing him and burying her face in his vest. The end was near… and soon, she would be reunited with her loved ones. She closed her eyes, taking satisfaction in the fact that she had managed to trap Ooze in a place where he wouldn't be able to cause any more chaos, even though it had cost her everything…
"You didn't think that was the end, was it?" Tendrils of purple ooze latched on to her arms, dragging her away from her husband.
She yelled, her eyes forced open as she rolled in the dirt, before coming to a stop before the golden orb.
"No…" She murmured, seeing the cracks in the orb. Ooze's hands had turned into purple tendrils that had somehow cut through the orb and taken hold of her.
She looked on in astonishment and horror as the orb shattered and Ivan Ooze dropped to his feet. He let go of her, the tendrils returning to their normal form. He gave her that terrible grin of his once again as his hands brushed off the dirt from his robes.
"Hello again." He mocked her.
"How?"
"Oh, darling girl, your magic is strong and if it was anybody else you cast it on, well you could have waved bye-bye to them for well, forever and sent them postcards to eternity, put them in a time capsule for great-great grandson to uncover… yaddi yadda yadda. You get the point and but to use that on me, it was… how do I put it, a tad ignorant." He walked around her, scoffing indignantly. "I am the galactically feared, globally reviled and universally despised Ivan Ooze. Like give me some respect, man!"
She gulped, closing her eyes. She had no power left. She had failed everyone… She only hoped the Forest had assembled some kind of defense to halt this being for if he got access to the secrets hidden within the forest, the horrors he would inflict on the universe would be unimaginable.
Ooze smirked, sitting down on one knee and patting her head. "I was planning to kill you but you have so much potential… so much power."
She tried to move away from him, only to find herself completely immobilized.
"Hush…" He whispered, stroking her hair. "What's your name?"
She felt compelled to speak. With her magic depleted, she was no longer immune to his compulsion charms.
"Rita…" She croaked.
"Rita, Rita… what can we do? Rita, Rita…" He hummed before beaming at her, only frightening her more. "Rita Repulsa, that's perfect! A perfect name!"
"What?" She asked.
"Oh, I decided to let you live and not only that, I will make you better. You will be my chief sorceress. You will strike down my enemies and strike fear into the hearts of those who dare to defy me."
Rita started to laugh. "You are deluded. I will die rather than do that."
"Hush, my child." Rita felt her lips close against her will. "You will forget everything soon and you will begin a new life, swearing your loyalty to me. You will fight for me, bleed for me and when the time comes, you will die for me and moreover, you will be happy while doing it. You will be just like me… You will enjoy hurting others. You will get joy maiming and torturing innocents. You will relish killing in cold blood. You will get headaches if you see anything disgustingly good."
Rita's eyes went wide. No…no. Please, no. Death… She would welcome death rather than be a puppet for this mad man. This couldn't be happening. She wanted to reunite with her family. She didn't want to lose herself to evil or be a mindless slave to this monster. She had heard tales of dark magic that twisted one's mind till they become a shadow of their former self… nothing but a dark reflection. Spells that are impossible to break or resist…. No, this can't be how-
She tried to move but she couldn't. Her magic wouldn't work.
She felt Ivan Ooze's clammy hands on her forehead, his fingers tingling with dark magic.
She tried to fight back. She tried to remember who she was… Rita Casterwill of the Mystic Forest, wife of Burai Salazar. She tried to hold on to memories of her parents – Margaret and Caleb Casterwill, of her younger sister Nimue and that of her best friends- Urara, Kai, Miyuki, Morgana, Franklin, Houka… But a wave of darkness drowned all of it and when she washed ashore, she was left with nothing but utter devotion to the forces of darkness and no memory of who she was.
And it remained that way for years to come.
Like Ooze had predicted, she fought in his name and was adopted by the Vile Dynasty as the princess of M-51 galaxy. She destroyed entire civilizations, murdered millions, conquered planets and without a single ounce of remorse…
Till one day, she was freed by the selfless sacrifice of the eltarian sage, Zordon.
Purged of the darkness, she found her way back to her home- the Mystic Forest, the dimension now connected to Earth of all places and tried to redeem herself best as she could. Eventually, she was chosen by the Tribunal of Magic to be their emissary on the mortal plane- the leader of the forces of Light Magic, the Mystic Mother, the highest honor that any magic user can achieve…
Her dark days were behind her.
Ivan Ooze had been gone for years since Earth's rangers pushed him in the trajectory of a comet that presumably consumed him in cosmic flames.
She had helped the Mystic Force defeat the Master of the Underworld.
The universe was at peace.
Then, she felt it… a shockwave of dark power that sent tremors through the entire universe, echoes through all planes of reality…
She recognized it. She felt the lingering stench of that foul magic everyday on her own mind…
Somehow by some inconceivable means, Ivan Ooze had returned.
Wow, as much as I enjoyed writing this prologue, I got carried away a bit. This was not what I had initially planned but I love it and I really hope you guys enjoy it too.
I know there are lots of brilliant fanfics here, where Ooze returns and the ninjetti return to fight him off.
Well, this fic can be considered a tribute to all the fics that came before it but I do plan on putting my own spin on the concept.
For starters, the Mystic Force will play a major role in this story going forwards.
Other ranger teams will show up but the main focus will be on the Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, Mystic Force and all the Zordon era rangers.
Let me know what you think of this story and please review.
