NOTE: Another story another exciting time for me! Yeah! This story is based around the story mode of the first Bakugan video game for consoles. I recently started to get back into Bakugan and remembered as to why I loved this series so much as a child.

I'm looking forward to writing this story and fleshing out the bonds between Leonidas, the main character, Vladitor, and Marduk.

Review and Enjoy!

Chapter 1: New Beginnings! Enter Yuji Shujin!

I know this is gonna sound weird.

But one day, my whole world changed…

A young man dressed in a short red jacket with a yellow shirt underneath, and red pants, stared up into the sky.

All around him were black cards that were falling from the sky. He opened up his hands, allowing a card to land in his palm.

You see cards started dropping from the sky. Coming down like rain.

At first, we didn't know where they were all coming from or who sent them.

But all we knew is that they were more than just ordinary playing cards.

A young girl with milky white skin and blue hair, tied into pig-tails, stared out of her window, as the same black cards were dropping from the sky. She opened up her window, allowing one of them to land inside of her room.

And it was happening all around the world!

A young man with long black hair sat on a grassy hill. He watched as one of the cards landed right next to him.

In the North.

A girl with light brown hair stood in the snow, staring perplexed at the black card.

The South.

A small boy with blond hair and red glasses, wearing blue swim trunks, kneeled down on the sand. He stared down at the crab that held the same black card.

They landed everywhere!

Waking up from her slumber was a young girl with tanned skin and long gray hair. She rubbed her eyes, finding a black card laying on her pillow.

Together with my new online friends from around the world, we invented a wicked new game we called: Bakugan!

That's when the power of the cards was revealed! Each one held its own battling beast that came to life when you threw it down.

Two small kids were seen standing in a blank void. The cards in their hands opened up, revealing two Bakugan. The creatures came to life and began to battle each other.

The battles were intense! And if you chose the wrong card, you lost it and the beast inside!

But that's only half the story…

Another even bigger battle was taking place in a parallel universe called: Vestroia!

The young man from the start was shown, standing behind him was a giant red dragon named Drago.

My name is Dan! And together with my friends:

Runo!

The girl with blue twin tails was shown, a giant black and white tiger named Tigrerra stood behind her. She dropped down next to Dan.

Marucho!

The little boy stood on the other side of Dan. Behind him was a large blue amphibian Bakugan named Preyas was right behind him.

Julie!

The girl with tanned skin and gray hair was next. She dropped down next to Marucho. Behind her was a brown titan of a Bakugan named Gorem.

Mr. Hotshot himself - Shun!

Shun dropped down next to Runo. His long black ponytail blew with the wind as he gave off a lone wolf air around him. Behind him was a large green bird-like Bakugan named Skyress.

And Alice!

The last member was a girl with light brown hair. She dropped down next to Shun, but unlike everyone else she didn't have a Bakugan behind her.

We are…

THE BAKUGAN BATTLE BRAWLERS!

.

.

However…this story isn't about us.

Standing across from the Battle Brawlers was a young man with tanned skin and black spiky hair. He wore a white hoodie with white and yellow pants. His light blue eyes stared at each one of the Brawlers with anticipated excitement.

Behind this boy was a large white and yellow dragon. His long white horn glistened from the light; his yellow beastly orbs were hungry for battle. The dragon's claws were dangerously sharp as if ready to tear something apart.

The boy lifted up a black card and the Brawlers responded the same. There was still quiet between them all, before the boy opened his mouth.

"BAKUGAN, BRAWL!"

Purple lightning cracked across the sky, thunder so loud that the earth below rumbled from its might. The dark purple sky illuminated a sickly air around the world, dark gray clouds surfed below the sky.

The ground below was ashy gray, littered around it were dead bodies of large creatures resembling Bakugan. Their bodies were cracked in places, eyes bleached white after losing the life within them.

This soulless world felt empty and quiet, the only noise being the thunder and lightning.

However, a small speck of light was emitted from one of the dead bodies. It floated upwards into the sky, soon more and more specks began flying up from the corpses.

Each one came together, illuminating the dark world with an unfamiliar glow. The light grew larger and larger until it started to take shape. Legs, arms, feet, hands, and a head came into view. Large white and gold wings sprouted out of the creature's back, flapping to keep it floating in the air.

Once the creature realized that it was alive, it reared its head back, and released a mighty roar into the soulless sky. Shaking the world around it with its newfound power.

Above it a purple hold tore open the sky, as if responding to the creature's desire to leave. Slitted eyes gazed at the hole before taking off towards it.

Entering the hole and forever leaving the darkness behind.

Blue eyes shot open instantly, the young man jolted awake from his seat. His head whipped around to scan his environment. Only to realize that he was still inside of his family's van, he released a sigh and slumped back into his seat. "Just a dream…" He muttered.

"You okay there, son?" His father asked from the driver's seat. The man had light brown hair and deep blue eyes. He wore a white T-shirt with a light blue jacket over it and black shorts. This man was known as Ryuji Shujin.

"Yeah," He nodded his head. "Just had a weird dream," The boy answered.

"A dream? Did you wet yourself again, Yuji?" A teasing feminine voice rang out right next to him.

Yuji's face turned bright red. He rounded on the younger girl next to him. "I didn't wet myself, Serena! How many times do I have to tell you!?"

"Until you stop getting all riled up from it, Yuji," Serena giggled. She had light blue hair that stretched down to her lower back. Her light blue eyes were glowing with mischief. She wore a light blue shirt with 'LOVING YOU' printed on it, and a white skirt that reached her knees.

"Serena, stop messing with your brother. You know he's sensitive about that incident," Their mother spoke from the front seat.

"Mom!" Yuji blushed.

"Sorry, sweetheart. I couldn't resist," Their mother had black hair and light blue eyes. She was dressed in a white dress for the summer heat. Her name was Serenity Shujin.

Yuji huffed, turning his attention to the window to drown out his sister and mother's laughing. He saw the moving truck was closely following their van, reminding the young man that he and his family were moving to a new city. Which meant leaving all of his old friends behind, because of his father's work.

Growing bored with just looking at the passing vehicles, Yuji pulled out his phone to distract himself. His social media feed was once again clouded up with news of the popular game Bakugan. "Not like I have much experience with it." Thinking back to his old town, he's only ever seen people talk about the game. Never being capable of getting any Bakugan himself and never being able to truly see how fun it is.

"Which reminds me, I might as well look at the rankings…" While he didn't play the game, Yuji still kept up with the rankings. It was kinda like sports, while he never enjoyed playing them there was an odd amount of interest in seeing who was leading.

RANK 1: MASQUERADE

RANK 2: SHUN KAZAMI

"Not shocking, those two have held the top for a while now. Not even Dan Kuso, the leader of the Battle Brawlers, has reached the top yet-"

"Are you looking at the rankings again?"

"GYA!" Yuji jolted in fright, almost dropping his phone. The teenager held the phone away from his intrusive little sister. "What are you doing!?"

She rolled her eyes. "Looking at your phone, genius. I don't understand why you keep looking at the rankings. It's not like you play the game," Serena said.

Yuji blushed a bit. "I-I can look at the rankings. Just because I don't play doesn't mean that I can't be interested in the rankings!" He defended himself.

Serena leaned away, huffing. "It would just be easier for you to get some Bakugan of your own. Like me," Serena reached into her bag. She pulled out three small blue Bakugan.

Yuji clicked his tongue. "You were just given those by a friend of yours. You've never played the game either!"

The younger sibling puffed out her chest, proudly. "Yes, but we're about to arrive at our new home. With a new school and new people to meet. I plan to use this as an opportunity to finally experience the game for myself and make new friends." She placed a finger on his chest. "Something you should consider, mister."

Yuji just lightly pushed her finger away. He grumbled to himself as he allowed his sister's word to fester in his mind. "What would be the point anyway? Not like I'll ever have the opportunity."

"Well, kids, how do you like the place?" Ryuji asked his kids.

The two children entered the house as the moving men were unloading the truck. The home was a standard two-story house, nothing about it really stood out. "Well, it's not much different from our old home," Yuji answered.

"We figured that you two might feel more comfortable in a house that resembled the old one," Serenity replied.

Serena gazed around the house. "Well…what do you want us to do now?"

"Go explore!" Serenity answered, cheerfully.

"You don't want us to help?" Yuji raised an eyebrow.

"We have enough hands to help load the boxes and furniture into the house. You guys will have enough time to unpack your things and get your rooms situated once you get back," Ryuji explained.

"This is a new city! A new neighborhood! Go and see what it has to offer. Who knows, maybe you'll make some new friends," Serenity smiled.

"Yeah, as if that'll happen so quickly," Yuji sighed.

Serena on the other hand was pretty ecstatic that she didn't have to do any heavy lifting. "C'mon, Yuji! Let's go explore!" She grabbed his hand and began dragging him out the door.

"Ah! Serena, don't pull so hard!" Yuji cried.

Their mother followed them out of the door. "Don't stay out too long! And watch after your sister, Yuji!"

The boy looked back, nodding his head to his mother. As much as he didn't want to do this there was a feeling in his gut telling him that this day wouldn't be normal at all.

Yuji scrolled through his phone as his sister sat next to him on the park bench. She kicked her legs as she hummed a song to herself. Her blue orbs shifted over to her boring box of a brother and sighed loudly. "Can we do something?"

"We are doing something."

"No, we aren't! You're sitting there on your phone! Let's find an arcade or something?" She suggested.

"We would get lost, since we barely know our way through the city. So, sit back and relax until it's time to head home," Yuji told her. With his words said, Yuji turned his attention back to his phone.

Serena huffed loudly, not knowing why she even bothered trying to convince him. "I'm gonna explore the park," She got up from the bench.

"Don't go too far," He glanced at her.

"Yeah yeah." Serena walked over to the fountain. Sighing in exasperation, she stared down at the fountain with bored eyes. "Wish there was something fun to do around here…"

"You're the coolest, Shuji!"

"Hm?" Serena glanced at the new voice. Looking over she found two other kids walking into the park. One of them looked to be a boy around her age, he had short red hair with a white baseball cap on his head. A green shirt on and gray shorts.

The person next to him was older and larger. A teenager who looked to be around Yuji's age, wearing a white T-shirt and yellow jacket with dark green pants on.

"You bet, Akira! I'm the best brawler in town!" Shuji boasted.

Serena snorted when she heard that, unluckily for her the snort was loud enough for the boys to pick up. Both glared at her, causing Serena to flinch slightly. "You got something you want to say, brat?"

Serena backed away as the boys started to approach. "Uh…I was just shocked by what you said."

"What was so shocking about it?" Shuji asked, glaring at her.

She probably should've kept her mouth shut, but that was always something she struggled with. "I mean, how can you be the best brawler in town when you don't even rank in the top 10?"

Her words seemed to have infuriated him more, Shuji blew steam out of his nose like a bull. "What was that punk!? Are you insulting my skills or something!?"

"If it's taking you this long to realize that, then you must be slow-" Serena covered her mouth.

"That's it! Shuji, teach this little girl a lesson!" Akira barked.

"Little!? I'm taller than you, brat!" Serena yelled, insulted.

"Brat!? Now, you're insulting my little brother!? You better get your Bakugan out, kid!" Shuji stepped threateningly closer to Serena.

The younger girl began to panic. "YUJI! HELP!" She cried for her brother.

Her cries were heard since the teenager looked up from his phone. His eyes widened when he saw Shujin stepping dangerously close to Serena. Putting his phone back into his pocket quickly, Yuji ran towards the conflict and stepped in front of Serena. "Back off, man! I'm sure whatever reason you're upset for isn't a big deal!"

Shuji scoffed. "Not a big deal? Your little sister here insulted my brawling skills! Ain't nobody insults my skills and gets away with it!"

"Yeah, well if you need to attack a little girl to validate your skills then you must be the worst brawler in town!" Yuji shouted. The park was silent after Yuji's declaration, everyone (Especially Serena) was blown back by the boy's anger.

Shuji and Akira regained their composure and got ready to attack. Shuji stepped forward. "If that's what you think, kid. Then I'll just have to beat you down with my brawling skills!"

Now THAT made Yuji back down slightly. "Oh…I-I…uh don't have any Bakugan…"

"Pfft! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Shuji and Akira erupted into laughter. Both Shujin siblings blushed from the mocking laughter. "What kind of kid doesn't have any Bakugan of their own?" Akira asked.

Serena glared at the red haired brat. "I have my own Bakugan!" She pulled out the three Aquas type Bakugan from her bag.

"Oh yeah? Do you at least have one of these?" Shuji pulled out a gate card.

The sight of the card made Serena back down again. "...No…dang it, Amy!" Serena cursed her friend for only giving her the Bakugan.

"Hahaha! Look at you losers! Insulting my skills when you don't even have any Bakugan!" Shuji laughed.

"What's so funny, Shuji?"

Once the new voice entered his ears, Shuji's laughter ceased. His joy quickly turned into annoyance as he turned to the new arrival. "Dan!? What are you doing here!?"

He wasn't the only one who was shocked, both Yuji and Serena stared at the Battle Brawler in amazement. "Dan!? You mean Dan Kuso from the Battle Brawlers!? Dude, you're all over the net!" Yuji fangirled.

"You're like the coolest of the cool…well, Shun is hotter," Serena added.

Dan rolled his eyes at the comment. Wasn't the first time he's heard that. Turning his attention away from Shuji, he looked at Yuji. "Hey, kid. What's going on? Seems Shuji here is giving ya some trouble. Need any help?"

"H-help? I-I mean…yeah! Sure! I would love some help!" Yuji accepted. If Dan could take care of this battle, then they'd have nothing to worry about.

Dan walked over to Yuji and slung an arm around his shoulder. "Good, because you're gonna be battling."

"Yeah…WAIT WHAT!?" Yuji and Serena gaped. "B-But, I don't know how to brawl! I've never done it before!" Yuji exclaimed.

Dan was a bit shocked by it. He's never met anyone who hasn't brawled before other than Alice, but he quickly brushed it off. "Doesn't matter, I'll be coaching you along the way. Shuji's a good tutorial mission anyway."

"Hey! I heard that, Dan!" Shuji cried.

"W-well…if I'm getting coached by the great Dan himself, then maybe I could give it a shot…" Yuji relented.

"That's all it took!? I've been trying to convince you to play since this game started!" Serena roared. Her cries went ignored by the two teenagers as Dan handed Yuji a gate card. At the same time both Akira and Shuji took theirs out.

"Oh, you might want to hold on," Dan took a hold of Serena's hand. "Now, sit tight and pay attention to my tips. If you do well enough I might not even charge you for it!"

"FIELD OPEN!"

Chapter End

NOTE: Next chapter will be Yuji's first ever brawl and his meeting with a certain Bakugan.

I did make changes to the game original character in this story, like giving him a little sister and that he's never played Bakugan before. With his battle against Shuji being his introduction into Bakugan.

Yes, he's a Haos user. Which will obviously contrast with a certain game original character and his Bakugan partner.

Look forward to the next chapter!
