Today was the day; he was going to do it. Five Hargreeves was going to ask his adopted father Reginald Hagreeves that he wanted to time travel. He's mastered his spatial jumps and he knew he was able to accomplish this feat. Sure at times he would overwork himself and his powers went on the fritz, but that wasn't happening as of late. Five was confident that he could jump through time; perhaps even both time and space all at once. But he would settle for training in time travel. His father couldn't be a stubborn old man forever and he knew it would be a matter of time before Five needed to master this. He was 13 years old and he was ready to take on the next step in his training.

Five finished getting dressed in his uniform; a navy blazer with red trim, white dress shirt, a red, gray, and navy argyle sweater vest, black tie, black shorts, black socks that reached the knee, and black dress shoes. He fixed up his collar in the mirror, checking over his brown hair to see if it was at its best. With one last once over, he walked out of his room and down the stairs when he heard Grace ring the bell for breakfast with his other six adoptive siblings. Five waited behind his seat, waiting for his father to address them to sit when he made his appearance in the sunlit and ornate dining room. Herr Carlson could be heard coming from the phonograph in the room and Five scoffed to himself. Never were they allowed to speak during their father's programs during mealtimes but he would do so for his pursuit of mastery in time travel.

Reginald, his father, soon walked in; monocle and all as he made his way to the head of the table. He glanced over to all his children and commanded them to sit. Five did as he was told and took a chance to observe a bit of breakfast and his siblings. He saw Luther glancing softly at his sister Allison with his baby blue eyes and Five grimaced slightly. They all needed to get out more and not just for missions and sneaking out since he thought Luther's infatuation with Allison was a bit unhealthy, adopted or not. Allison returned the smile with a faint blush on her cheeks. Diego was carving or sharpening his knife on the armrest of his chair; Klaus was rolling a joint for himself, Ben was reading as usual, and Vanya was meekly eating her breakfast. Five did feel bad for Vanya since they excluded her a lot but why weren't her powers showing. It mattered not to Five as he forcibly smiled and stabbed his butter knife on the table, alerting everyone but most importantly Reginald.

"Number Five?" he pondered.

"I have a question." Five spoke innocently yet smugly.

"Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during mealtimes. You're interrupting Herr Carlson."

Five scoffed bitterly since it was always about him and what he wanted them to do. He wondered if they were even a family since he doubted all families were like this. Five dropped the butter knife and glared at his father.

"I want to time travel."

"No." Reggie dismissively told him.

"But I'm ready! I've been practicing my spatial jumps like you said, see!"

Five enveloped himself in blue light and traveled from his seat to beside his father. Reggie wasn't amused and thought Five was asking more than he was ready for as he continued to eat.

"A spatial jump is trivial when compared to the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice. The other is akin to blindly falling into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn." Reggie stated as he drank his wine.

Five looked extremely puzzled and thought he was out of his mind. How can that make any sense and he was smart enough to usually understand his old man. He could feel his eyebrow twitch a bit angrily since he wanted to do this and Reggie was being stubborn. This was probably a long winded way of saying, 'You're still too young and not ready' but Five didn't think that was what Reggie was saying.

"Well I don't get it." Five answered.

"That's the reason you are not ready. We've been over this before and I forbid for you to talk about this anymore. My word is final Number Five and you're not ready!" Reggie dismissed.

Screw that Five thought and he stormed out of the academy. He would show him and his siblings he was better than all of them and he would be successful. Calls for his father for his names and for him to come back Five ignored as he left out the door. It was a brisk fall day in 2002 but not for long Five thought. He smirked as he made his first temporal jump and instead of a fall day it was a warm summer day. Five chuckled and he boasted,

"Not ready my ass."

He jumped again and it was winter on the same block, perhaps in the year 2003. The snow was falling softly and Five took a small chance to let the snowfall in his hand. Five wasn't sure how much time passed between jumps but it just went to show himself that he could jump in time. He was ready and he wanted to do so much more before returning back. This was too easy and he needed to kick things up a notch; a time and space jump at the same time. It could be done but Five even admitted it would be a big ordeal for the first time. He took a deep breath and channeled his powers down to his very core. Looking straight in front of him and using all his might he jumped one last time.

His latest jump was clearly different from the ones previously as he was no longer on the streets of where his academy was located. Five was a bit startled since he clearly was in a movie theater…but when the hell was he Five thought. He rubbed the back of his head, curiously yet anxiously since he might have gone a bit far. It was a bit deserted as most people were in the showing rooms so it was good that no one perhaps saw him appear in this time. The time itself became apparent to Five when he was a theatrical poster for Back to the Future. His eyes widened and he carefully placed a hand on the poster. He knew for sure that he traveled back in time to 1985 in the summer. Five truly wanted to go forward in time honestly not backwards and he cursed.

"Shit."

He made his point, he thought, so he needed to get back home and tell his father he did it. However when he tried to summon his powers; he couldn't. Light showed up around his wrists and whooshing sounds could be heard but he couldn't make the jumps. Fear crept in since he realized something a bit crucial too late. He was recklessly traveling through time but it was an exact science. All he needed was the equation to get him back home back to 2002. Unfortunately for him, he didn't know the exact formula he needed to get back home and he truly was stuck here; not knowing how long it would be before he could even spatial jump let alone jump in time. Still he persisted.

"Come on come on." Five whispered a bit panicked, hoping he could get back but powers did not budge.

Five fell back against the floor and buried his head in his hands. Now what will he do? He was stuck here, his father had been right about time travel and his stomach sank deeper. He wasn't ready for time jumping and he was alone with little chance of getting back for quite awhile. Vanya, Ben, and all of his other siblings were perhaps never going to see him again or perhaps it would be a long time. Dammit Five thought and he felt tears starting to strain his eyes. No don't you dare cry Five thought to himself. Think, there has to be something he could do or maybe he needed to think about what he had to do next.

"Um…hey? Where did you come from?"

Five looked up to see a kid his age in a striped t shirt, loose shorts, and a bowl cut hairstyle looking at him. Did he see him coming through time? Shit this wasn't good Five thought, not good at all.

" That depends did you see anything?" Five asked curiously.

The boy nodded a bit and kind of cowered.

"Um yeah you just appeared out of nowhere, in a blue light."

Five cursed but really would anyone believe this kid, probably not. Still he was too upset to get up from the floor and hit his head against the wall. How was he going to get home or maybe he should ask, how was he going to fend for himself in the 80s. He glanced at the boy and instead of him returning to the movie, he came closer and sat beside him. Five raised an eyebrow and the boy sheepishly smiled.

"You look like you can use someone? I mean…you look like you're a long way from home."

"Yeah, try a whole time away." Five muttered to himself bitterly.

He looked at the boy and saw his eyes widened. Shit, he was not supposed to let him know that but apparently he was loud enough. God he was just messing up a lot today.

"T-Time? You mean you traveled through time? W-Wow so cool?"

Five scoffed bitterly and stroked his arm. This kid he thought.

"Yeah well…not cool since I'm stuck here. Where the hell am I since I know when the hell I am but this isn't familiar to me." Five said, motioning to the theater.

"Starcourt Mall in Hawkins, Indiana."

Shit he went pretty far from home in spatial distance too. Really Five thought, I end up in a corn husk of a town that just maybe got this big mall in their town. He kind of hoped it would at least be New York or California but that's what happens when you screw science when making jumps. He scoffed and put his hands together. His body shook in disappointment, anger, sadness, and something he thought he wouldn't feel, fear. God he should have listened to Reggie but maybe he should have taught him this so he wouldn't have to do this on his own.

"Great….Hawkins. Looks like I'm going to have to figure things out on my own. Dad was right but he should have taught me how to jump through time. I wouldn't have had to show him that I could do it if he just taught me and not be a stubborn old man. Now because of him and my own actions…I'm stuck and screwed." Five sighed.

The boy didn't move and he truly felt bad for this stranger. He can see that boy in the uniform was trying so hard not to cry and he knew he couldn't just leave him alone.

"Do you really have no place to go?" he asked.

Five looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Was this kid dense or stupid Five thought angrily.

"You have been listening right? I am from the future; heck I'm not even born yet. So no, I don't have a place to go, okay. Go off and forget about me, k?" Five snapped.

This didn't discourage the boy and he really thought about it. If this kid from the future, he clearly wouldn't have anywhere to go. He knew what it was like to be alone, even if it was in the cold Upside Down and he couldn't leave him this way. Bob also taught him some good and he wanted to honor his memory.

"If you're stuck here…maybe you can come with me to my house until we can find a way for you to be home. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you." he expressed, getting up and offering his hand to Five.

Five stared at the hand for a bit and was truly confused. This kid didn't know him at all and admitted to him that he had powers. I wouldn't trust me Five thought and yet this innocent teen was. He wasn't normal but Five was far from normal too.

"You're going to invite a kid you just saw appear through a blue light come into your house. Wouldn't that like freak out your family?" Five asked

"Unless you're like a plant looking monster with sharp teeth or a demon dog; you're fine. We've been through hell, stuff you can't imagine but…you're just a kid like me, powers or not. Plus, you can use a friend and I would worry about just leaving you alone."

Five smirked and chuckled. thinking he was joking. This kid was weird but he could use the help. In some ways this kid with the bowl cut reminded him of Vanya. Such a meek yet sweet kid and Five had a sense he could trust him.

" Can't argue with that I guess, at least I ended up in place with people. But uh names should be in order." Five expressed.

"Oh wait…I never introduced myself. I'm Will, Will Beyers. And you.. if you can share your name?" he asked.

Now he was learning but heck he was already messing up time by being here, a name couldn't do too much damage. If he was going to stay with Will, he needed to have him trust him.

" Five Hargreeves… yes that's my actual name, blame my old man.. Total asshole." Five said mildly annoyed not at Will but in fact his father was an asshole.

Will frowned slightly at that since…his father must have been horrible too or treated him differently.

"Well if it helps, my mom's not like that. The name might be odd so we might need to come up with another one so you'll blend in better. We can give her a call to pick us up and we can have food back at my place."

"I don't want to put you out or inconvenience your family. Really…"

"No, you need a place and I really want to help you. You kind of seem…cool if a bit hostile but I can tell it's because you're a bit scared and far from home. Very far from home."

Five sighed but Will did have a point. It was going to take him a while to get back home and he could use a place to stay for the time being. This wasn't smart and hoped Will knew not to get attached, but he had no options or at least safe and comfortable options that were better than staying with Will.

"Yeah you're right about that. Sure, I will come with you. Just know I can't share much about the future and that…I am thankful for this Will."

Will smiled brightly as Five took his hand and got up from the floor. Five chuckled at Will's hopeful smile but he can sense Will's been through some shit. They could hear people leaving the theater for the Dawn of the Dead preview.

"Did you come here alone?" Five questions.

Will shook his head and sure enough he saw his friends coming out of the preview. Five looked at the three friends and he couldn't help but silently judge. One was a red-haired girl with light freckles and her demeanor and attitude screamed tomboy to him. She seemed nice if maybe a bit blunt and maybe was checking him out a tad. He then noticed another kid with a baseball hat, very casual style, and perhaps a very chill person Five thought. He looked more intrigued to be seeing him and at least Five maybe thinks he won't have problems with him either. Lastly he noticed the boy with longish black hair, a slightly long nose, and kind of a nerd like vibe. It was this kid who was glaring at him intensely and Five glared back. What the hell was his problem?

"There you are Will? You missed the last bit of the preview. Everything okay?" the nerd asked.

"Uh yeah, very fine. I just had to use the bathroom like I told you and I bumped into a new friend. Uh Aidan these are Max, Mike, and Lucas; my friends."

Five raised an eyebrow and whispered,

"Aidan?"

"Go with it, Five will tip them off that something is weird." Will whispered.

Max gave Five a once over and couldn't help but be very curious. Who still wears uniforms in the summer she thought? There had to be more with this kid.

"You have summer school or something? What's with the uniform?" Max asked.

Five chuckled a bit warmly and shook his head. She was going to be fun Five thought.

"Had summer school but I'm done with it. I was sick of my father so I ran off. He was an asshole and I was tired of him telling me what to do." Five expressed calmly.

"So you're a runaway? Lucas questions curiously.

Will sighed since his friends were very protective of him. While he valued that of them, he really didn't want them to judge Five.

"Yea and I'm going to have him stay with me for awhile until he figures something out." Will defended.

Mike raised an eyebrow since this kid, Aidan, looked to be a smug asshole. He already didn't like him and he worried about what this kid would do to Will. He could probably corrupt him as much as the Mind Flayer did. He didn't want to lose his friend or have him be hurt in any way.

"So you're just going to let a random kid you don't know at all live with you and your family? Seriously Will? After everything you've been through, you're just going to trust a random asshole. Think about it, we don't know what he's like." Mike expressed a bit protectively.

Asshole Five thought. He can really be an asshole if Mike wanted him to be. Five crossed his arms and glared at Mike harshly. There was being wary and then there was being a cruel judgmental jerk.

"Look Mike, I really have no place to go and Will is being very kind to me. I'm not going to hurt him alright. I'm very tired, alone, and kind of hungry actually. Maybe we can hang out and bury any ill will later. But right now, you don't have any grounds to judge me and trust your friend Will, k Mike?" Five spoke with a slight defensive hiss.

Mike got a bit in Five's face, only for Lucas to help pull him back. Will frowned a bit at Mike since he was being awfully mean and not giving his new friend a chance. Five maybe was a bit harsh but Will didn't know him. He wanted to know Five since how often does anyone move in Hawkins. They could be friends for the time they had and the best part is, Five won't bully him and perhaps not tease him about what he likes.

"Can we get to your place Will? I wasn't lying when I said I was a bit hungry. All that traveling made me work up an appetite." Five said a bit sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.

Will smiled and nodded.

"Yeah of course. Let me just call my mom to pick us up. I'm sure she won't mind you staying over Aidan. I'll see you guys tomorrow?"

"Yeah remember, Dustin's coming back from camp tomorrow and we want to welcome him, all his friends." Mike stated, shooting a dirty look at Five.

Five really was starting to hate this kid and he could teach him a lesson but won't for Will's sake.

"I know Mike, I know. I'll be there okay." Will groaned in annoyance.

Mike could see Will was getting upset and he sighed, nodding softly at him.

"Okay. Good night Will. See you tomorrow." Mike stated.

Will nodded and he motioned Five to follow him out of the theater.

Five truly wasn't in his own time anymore he thought. Least he made a…friend? It could have been worse than trapping himself in the 80s. He could have trapped himself in an apocalypse and been the last person on earth. The most awful thing about the 80s maybe was a lot of stuff he likes isn't out yet and maybe the fashion. Still, when there's a will there's a will and funny enough he's found a Will. Five pushed himself too far and needed to suffer the consequences. Who knows, maybe he could have a bit of fun while he's here. I mean the 80s were a wild and fun decade; why not make the most of it and with Will at his side he wouldn't be alone.

I hope you enjoy this crossover idea with two series I enjoy so much. A what if and an alternative universe in one and I think it could make for a good plot. In this, the Mind Flayer and Russian plot line will not happen since all that happens like in a week and that really constricts what I can do if I follow the strict canon of Stranger Things. In this one, the Mind Flayer was able to return to the gate.

I figured since a lot of the Stranger Things gang are like 13/14 and so is Five from Umbrella Academy when he tries to time travel (in the show) , this would be a creative idea to explore. This may be mostly fluff and angst with friendship and maybe romance but overall this is just a fun little experiment and exercise.

I will try updating this at least once a week since I do have other obligations and another Stranger Things fan fic to update. Reviews, faves, and follows would truly help this story to grow even though this is mostly for my own entertainment. Thanks for the initial read. More to come.
