Hey guys and welcome to a new Danny Phantom/The Division fic. This fic has been in my head for a while and since I'm going slow on my other stuff decided to write it so I'm doing something productive.

As you can guess, Danny will be taking the place as the player for the Division series with Danny Phantom items, characters, and such showing up too. There will likely be more added later as I have a poll up for my Patrons to vote on and it looks like they want to see some of the options I listed. How many? No idea, I'll probably decide that from what is most popular, or I'll do more polls.

Anyway, this chapter is gonna be on the shorter end of the spectrum since it's just a setup/prologue leading into the actual fic since no matter how I wrote it, it didn't seem to flow right to me when I did this but and the actual start.

Also, I'll be plaything through Division 1 alongside this so gear that Danny gets will be based on what drops or is available for purchase as I play.

AND YES! I AM TRYING TO GET OTHER CHAPTERS OUT FOR YOU GUYS. It's just going slow.

Not much else to say or go over, so let's get the show on the road.

Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom, The Division, they're shows, games, books, merchandise, etc etc, or anything else that comes into this fic, be nice if I did but I don't.

Special thanks to TheWhiteTitan for not only helping inspire this idea, but for helping me hash out some details as I go. I strongly recommend checking out his fics, especially "Forgotten Hero" and "Surviving an Apocalyptic World" which are easily my top two favorites of his fics with "Demon Fox of Fairy Tail", "Danny Phenex", and "Rise of Darkness" tying for third.

PROLOGUE: A PHANTOM DIES

FENTON WORKS, AMITY PARK

"AAAH!" Danny Fenton also known as the hero Danny Phantom screamed in pain, sorrow, and rage as he was currently strapped to a table while his parents Jack and Maddie had a large laser like device aimed at him and it was currently blasting him. If THAT wasn't bad enough, nearby was his sister and his two best friends who had apparently blabbed about his secret to his parents and his friends had also mentioned his different powers meaning he couldn't use them to escape from the table or the machine or even destroy the machine. Currently they were in a "safety" zone of reinforced glass to ensure nothing happened if the extractor failed or the ghost "possessing" Danny lashed out while they were extracting it.

Danny would have gotten away if he had any kind of warning, but his parents had ambushed him at night while he was sleeping and he woke up strapped to the table.

"Turn up the power Maddie, we'll get that ghost scum out of our son!" Jack stated with a grin on his face as he kept the laser like device calibrated while Maddie nodded and cranked up the power causing Danny to scream in more pain.

Danny's friends Tucker and Sam flinched away while Jazz was on the verge of tears, none of them thought this was going to happen when they told Jack and Maddie the truth. They just thought that lying to them constantly wasn't going to help and if they knew about the threats in detail, they could make more gear that could help Danny handle his enemies better.

Best intentions and all that.

For his part, Danny felt like his very soul was getting torn apart but by bit as the device did it's work. It really felt like they were living up to their threat to rip him apart molecule but molecule. He honestly didn't know if he could survive this if they kept pushing, this hurt worse than anything he ever imagined.

"Give me full power, this damn ectoplasmic slime is being persistent!" Jack called before the laser suddenly increased in density and intensity causing Danny to unleash a blood curdling scream. "Hang in there Danny! We'll save you soon!" Jack called as he kept the laser going despite Danny's screams and pleas and even Maddie was starting to get worried about doing this.

Danny wanted to shout at him to stop, to not keep doing this because it would leave the town near defenseless, plus there was no guarantee he'd survive this. It was a miracle that he survived that incident with the portal and had ended up as a half ghost half human, but getting the ghost torn out of him like this? There was no guarantee there was going to be enough human in him to survive. However, he couldn't voice any of this as his body was in such agonizing pain that he was honestly amazed he hadn't ruptured his vocal cords yet.

It didn't help that nothing, and I mean NOTHING, had ever hurt as bad as this did. Not any ghost attacks, not any of the ghost gadgets he'd been hit with, not even the times he'd gotten his ass kicked to the point he should have been in a hospital afterwards.

The thing that made it worse: it started to work as the laser suddenly turned green and began pulling something out of Danny making him scream even louder. The pain peaked beyond belief as it felt like a very piece of his soul was being pulled out of him. The laser got more intense before it fully pulled Danny's ghost core out making Danny widen his eyes in horror.

However, it only got worse as the core began to crack and shake before it shattered, and the backlash destroyed the device making Jack and Maddie take cover from the shrapnel as smoke filled the lab.

As the smoke cleared, Jack and Maddie rushed over to Danny and unlocked the restraints, "Don't worry Danny, everything's all right now." Jack stated with a grin only for a fist to suddenly slam into his face sending him to the ground.

"Jack!" Maddie stated in shock as she went to her husband before she looked back at Danny and widened her eyes.

Danny was panting as he glared in pure hatred, sorrow, and betrayal and all of it was etched on his face, even if he didn't notice the changes to him now. His hair was still black but now it had some white highlights, and his left eye was now the ghostly green it was when he was Phantom, but it wasn't glowing while his right eye was still his usual sapphire blue.

Maddie felt her heart clench at the sight of the betrayal on his face, "You're both fucking idiots. Stay the hell away from me." Danny growled before he moved off the table and had to catch himself as he stumbled.

"Danny!" Maddie moved to help him, but the glare of pure hatred he shot her froze her in place.

"I just said to stay the hell away from me." Danny stated with a snarl before he hobbled towards and up the stairs.

Maddie could only stare at him in shock before she helped Jack up and they let the three others out of the box only to whip her head to the side as she was suddenly slapped by Jazz, "You two are sick, how you could you even think of putting Danny through that?!" Jazz screamed with tears streaming down her face at the sight of what her little brother had to endure and was blaming herself for it happening.

"What? We were only helping him, that stupid ghost was possessing him!" Jack stated only to get slapped as well, but by Sam this time.

"He wasn't possessed you fucking moron! He was turned into a halfa: A being that's half ghost and half human, you literally just tore part of his soul out of him like it was just some piece of junk! We told you about his powers so you could help him fight the ghosts, not torture him and ruin his powers! Do you two not even realize that you could have killed him with that fucking stunt?!" Sam exclaimed making the two widen their eyes in shock.

"Yeah, and it gets worse since Danny was the one keeping the ghosts in check, he finally found something he could do with his life and you two snatched it away from him without even talking to him!" Tucker added before they and Jazz quickly went to check on Danny.

The three found him in his room, but what made them pause was that they saw he was stuffing a duffle bag with his clothes. "Danny?" Jazz asked as Danny turned to look at them over his shoulder before he resumed packing his clothes up.

"What are you doing?" Tucker asked as Danny grunted.

"What does it fucking look like, I'm getting the hell out of here." Danny stated making them blink as Danny never swore, especially not at them.

"No biggie dude, you can crash at one of our houses as long as you need." Tucker stated and Danny didn't even look at them.

"No, I mean I'm getting the hell out of this town since apparently I can't trust anyone." Danny stated as he grabbed a few of his things and tucked them in the bag as well before closing it.

"Whoa, what is that supposed to mean?" Sam asked and Danny turned to glare at them.

"You think I'm just going to forget that you three just betrayed me and my trust?" Danny asked coldly making them widen their eyes as he turned back to his bag.

"W-we thought it would help, that they could help make more gear to help you fight the ghosts." Jazz stated only to flinch as Danny whipped towards them a look of rage and betrayal on his face.

"IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER!" Danny shouted making them flinch at the ferocity and rage. "It wasn't your secret to tell! I told you repeatedly I didn't want to tell them about my powers, I was explicit, and you all agreed, only to go behind my back and tell them and now look what happened! My powers are destroyed, for all I know I could be dying from my soul no longer being balanced or whole, and this town is now screwed beyond all chance in hell of surviving and it's all your fucking fault!" Danny exclaimed his rage palpable as the three looked down in shame while the two girls had tears in their eyes. "You not only betrayed my trust, but you also literally helped them kill a part of me, and you doomed the town to the ghosts, Vlad, and the GiW." Danny stated before he grabbed his bag and pushed past them as he went downstairs.

"Danny wait!" Jazz cried as she followed him while Tucker and Sam quickly followed suit.

"I don't want your excuses, so save it for someone who cares." Danny stated as he made it to the living room and saw Jack and Maddie there.

"Danny? What are you doing?" Maddie asked in concern, especially since she see the hate filled look on Danny's face and the fearful looks on the other three.

"I'm leaving, I refuse to stay in a house traitors and I'm not staying in a town that's doomed because of your stupidity." Danny stated shocking the two of them.

"Danny it was for your own goo-ack." Jack stated before Danny had him pinned to a wall by his throat with a look of pure hatred and rage on his face.

"Don't you dare fucking say it was for my own good! What good came of it huh?! The town has no defenses against the ghosts now. You two couldn't even handle the box ghost, the weakest of them all, the GiW trashes the town every time they get involved, and that's not even counting your so-called friend Vlad and his underhanded shit but I guess you don't care do you?! So long as your son wasn't 'tainted' by filthy ghost powers it doesn't matter who gets hurt or how bad right?!." Danny snarled before he tossed Jack to the floor as he coughed and rubbed his throat.

"Wha? What about Vlad?" Maddie asked as she was next to Jack.

"You mean besides the fact he hates your husband and wants you for himself and will go to any lengths to do so?" Danny asked as the two looked at him in shock, "Or how about the fact he's been supplying Valerie Gray with ghost tech to undermine both you two and me? Or maybe the fact he made his fortune by stealing? Or maybe the fact he's actually Vlad Plasmius and wants to take over the world?" Danny listed making the two look at him in horror.

"That-that's impossible. Vladie would never do that." Jack stated as Danny merely raised an eyebrow.

"Like how there was no chance that I was Danny Phantom?" Danny asked making the two gulp slightly seeing his point.

If Danny could go months without them noticing him having ghost powers while living in their house, how long could Vlad have hidden his powers from them?

"I don't have time to waste on this, believe or not, I don't care. You're the ones that have to live with whatever happens to this town, I'm done and gone." Danny stated breaking them from their thoughts as he picked his bag up again only for Tucker to speak up.

"Wait, can't we just get you your powers back?" Tucker asked and Danny snorted.

"Unlikely. I did the math 286 times over the course of being Phantom. I had a one in 309,475,987,216 chance of surviving that accident that gave me my powers and that was with my soul and everything fully intact. I have no idea what tearing half my soul away has done so I likely have even less chance of surviving let alone being back to how I was. I could turn into those failed clones of Vlad's or worse. So I'll pass on that since I still want to live as long as I can." Danny stated making Tucker flinch at the cold tone. "Now, I'll be taking my leave and getting the fuck out of this town before the ghosts learn there's now no one to stand in their way anymore." Danny stated as he kept walking towards the door only for Maddie to rush and grab his hand once she realized he planned to leave the town.

"Danny, please, we can figure something out to get passed this." Maddie stated and Danny just looked at her.

"Can you give me back the other half of my soul? Can you give me back the last 3 hours of my life that I spent in agony and despair as it literally felt like you were making good on your constant threats to rip me apart molecule by molecule? Can you ever restore my trust and faith in people because the five people I was closest to in the world just betrayed me and literally got me tortured or tortured me? Can you do any of that?" Danny asked in cold tone as Maddie paled and flinched each time he asked a question with tears now running down her face, "I thought not." Danny stated before pulling his hand away and continued walking.

Only Maddie stopped him again with pain and sorrow showing on her face, "Danny please, we may have made a mistake, but we do love you." Maddie stated as Danny turned to look at her and she thought maybe she got through to him.

"Liar." Danny stated shocking her and breaking her heart at the same time. "If you both loved me, you would have listened to me as I begged and pleaded with you to not go through with that device. You would have stopped as I screamed in agony and begged you to not continue. You would have given me a chance to explain things to you instead of just continuing to torture me. You wouldn't have been able to ignore my screams of terror and pain as you tore half my soul away." Danny said coldly before looking to Jazz, Tucker, and Sam, "They wouldn't have betrayed me or violated my trust when I told them I didn't want you to know about my powers, and it seems I was justified since I got another betrayal on top of being tortured for 3 hours and then having half my soul ripped out. As far as I'm concerned, I have no family and I have no friends. You can have a nice life without me, because I'm done with all of you." Danny stated causing the women to start sobbing as Danny tore his arm from Maddie and she sank to her knees.

"Danny that's enough." Jack stated as he went to Maddie and heartache was clear on his face too, "You can't really mean that right?" Jack pleaded as Danny stopped at the door and looked back at them.

"Go fuck yourself, I'm gone." Danny stated shocking him before he left slamming the door behind him as Maddie, Jazz, and Sam began crying in full as they were on they're knees.

"Danny! Come back here right now! Danny!" Jack called with his hand outstretched towards the door. "Please." Jack uttered in a whisper as he began crying as well.

"What have we done." Maddie spoke as she sobbed and cried her heart out over what had just happened, over what they had done to her precious son.

Sam and Jazz were right there with her, only they felt worse as they had to betray Danny's trust for this to happen, when it turns out he was right not to tell his parents… his former parents about his powers.

If they and Tucker had never said anything, none of this would have happened and they'd still have Danny with them.

Now Danny was gone and there was no real hope for stopping the ghosts from rampaging.

They didn't know what to do, or even if there was anything they could do.

They had royally fucked up, and now they had to live with it.

TEN YEARS LATER

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

A male groaned as he heard his clock alarm going off and reached for it, but he paused as he saw it wasn't his clock that was beeping but a device on his wrist. Sitting up abruptly, he tapped it, "By order of the President of the United States of America, Directive 51 has been initiated. As such, Security of the Homeland Division has been activated and all available agents are to deploy. You are to report to New York immediately for deployment. Reporting officer is Louis Chang, Northeast Section Senior Division Commander, he will be directing you for the operation." A male electronic voice stated from his device making him instantly get out of bed start getting cleaned, dressed, and geared up.

When it came to the latter, he went to his closet and pushed on a spot causing a panel to light up as the back of his closet slid away revealing a room full of weapons, attachments, bullets, gear, and modifications and quickly went to work grabbing what he wanted.

A SOCOM Mk20 SSR with an Omega Rifle Suppressor, OD Green Vertical Grip, an extended Magazine giving him 32 rounds instead of 15, and a VX-1 scope with 12x zoom.

An Enhanced PP-19 with a Loud vent brake, extended magazine giving him 118 rounds instead of 56, and a C79 Scope with a 3.4 Zoom.

And for a Sidearm, a Px4 Storm Type F with a Ti-RANT Suppressor and standard magazine of 17.

He had something for range, something for mid to close range, and then a sidearm to fall back on when needed or if he needed closer range stealth.

For gear, he grabbed a Reclaimer Classified Vest, an Operator Mask, Reclaimer Classified Braces for his knees, a Gunslinger type holster for his sidearm, DeadEYE trigger gloves, and a Predator's Mark backpack in addition to his regular clothes.

Once he was fully equipped, including some personal gear that he always ensured he had with him on missions, he grabbed his phone and texted those he knew that he'd be out of town on important business and may be out of reach for a while. Once that was done, he left the phone, grabbed a go bag he kept ready, and headed out the door only briefly glancing and pausing at his reflection seeing his white highlighted black hair and his heterochromic eyes with one being a sapphire blue and the other being a ghostly green.

10 years.

It seemed a long time, but it felt like a blink of an eye. It only felt like yesterday he had set off on his own.

Memories of his hardships, trials, victories, defeats, friends gained and lost, and much more all flew through his mind before he quickly grasped them and crushed them to dust. He was not the same he was when he left, he could never be that way again and he had no desire to be that way again. That was another life, another person, and that person and life were dead.

A few stray memories came that caused him to pause a moment, but only a moment.

Shaking those memories away, as they'd be of no service at all, he focused on the task at hand since lives were at stake. He'd already seen the news reports for the past month about the virus that was slowly infecting all of New York killing thousands and causing the entire island of Manhattan to be locked down in quarantine, and that different gangs were springing up to take advantage of the situation forcing the Joint Task Force (aka the JTF) back on the defensive.

Rumors even had it that the Last Man Battalion (LMB), the private military company, were even taking over parts of midtown and uptown around the U.N. As their own territory and we're hitting anyone that didn't obey their rules, regardless of who they were.

If he was going in there, then he couldn't afford distractions, not only would it get him killed, but it could also get an untold number of people killed too. Maybe even his fellow agents would get killed.

He was an agent of the Division, he was focused, lethal, and above all else: the best of the best of anyone in the world. If he failed, it wasn't just his life lost, the country was at risk of being lost.

He'd never allow that to happen and anyone trying to make that a reality would soon be a corpse on the ground.

However, he couldn't fight a feeling that he hadn't had in a long time. A feeling that told him this mission wasn't going to be so simple as put a bullet in the head of some enemy combatants and be done with it.

No, something deep inside him told him this mission was going to be even more vital than he believed, that it was going to take all of his skills, talents, and capabilities to not only win, but survive as well.

Honestly, hearing that part of him after so long made him excited, it had been a long time before he felt that way, not since before Fenton and Phantom were killed.

Having that feeling meant something real was going down and he was going to be right in the thick of it.

"How fun." He thought with a slight grin, he hoped this mission would push him since a few assassinations were all he had done in the past year.

Now he was going into a war zone, and that meant a lot of combat and a lot of scavenging and hunting.

He just hoped the operations base wasn't a shit show with assholes who couldn't be team players. If it was, then he'd deal with it, he was a professional after all.

Right now, he needed a ride to get to New York and report in.

DONE! Like I said, short chapter, but this is only the prologue to get to the real fic since I didn't want the setup and the main start to be in the same chapter this time.

Anyway, next time we see what the fuck is going down in New York and maybe learn what Directive 51 is.

If any of you have played Division 1 and know some of the gear, just wait and see, don't go thinking Danny's overpowered for the beginning areas or anything.

See y'all next time.
