THE DINOSAURS OF NOTRE DAME

CHAPTER 1: PROLOGUE

The world we live in is not what it used to be,in a time long, long, long before our own we didn't have the luxury of building gigantic cities or breaking through our own atmosphere in order to reach the depths of space and beyond, nor did we have the computers and tablets you're probably reading this on. For you see,the earliest age of our planet's existence….was the age of the dinosaurs.

The dinosaurs were magnificent creatures and came in many shapes and sizes. Some of them were small and barely bigger than your average house cat,and some of them were about as,if not bigger than a building or a pine tree. Some of them were also leaf eaters and fed on the beautiful vegetation and fruits of the land, but then there were the dreaded sharpteeth, terrifying creatures that ate the flesh and meat off it's fellow dinosaurs and spread a shadow of fear everywhere they went.

However there was a place where the leaf eaters and the rest of the herds could live in peace and safety, and it was known simply as The Great Valley. Whether you were a giant or a little critter, the valley had something to offer to all,and one of the many examples of prosperous life in the valley was Littlefoot the longneck, Cera the threehorn, Ducky the swimmer, Petrie the flier, Spike the spiketail, Chomper the friendly sharptooth and Ruby the fast runner.

They all lived their lives in the valley under the watchful eye of their parents and guardians, but that didn't stop them from getting into many adventures both in and out of the valley,in fact they had just recently embarked on a most incredible adventure where they were taken by the spirit of Littlefoot's mother to a new land. It was in this new world that the children brought two warring worlds together through the power of love, friendship and forgiveness, and when they returned they thought that it was the end of their travels to new worlds, but little did they know that their adventures were only beginning.

It was the start of another beautiful day in the valley and the children were all playing down in the fields as the sun's rays beamed down on them and the rest of the valley.

Littlefoot:

I can't wait to see you.

Petrie:

See you.

Ducky:

See you.

Cera:

What's up today?

Chomper:

Can you hear me calling?

Petrie:

Calling.

Ruby:

Calling.

Cera:

It's time to play.

All:

Every cloud in the sky, green leaf on a tree is reminding me.

Faraway dreams really do come true.

Cera and Ducky:

Come on!

Let's go!

Littlefoot:

Let's go!

All:

And run around,run around.

What a beautiful feeling,we finally found a peaceful valley.

And everybody's having a good time now

"Hey,I'm going to go check on the stone. You wanna race there?" asked Littlefoot with an excited expression to which Cera instantly accepted with a smug and toothy grin "Oh do I!" before Ruby chuckled "Count me in,you can't leave out a fast runner like me with their fast legs."

"Alright,go!" announced Littlefoot after he and the rest of the gang got into starting positions before they all sprinted in the direction of the nesting grounds, laughing and full of competitive energy all the way.

Come on!

Let's go!

Let's go and run around, run around.

What a beautiful feeling,we finally found a peaceful valley.

And everybody's having a good time now.

The children had quickly made it to the nesting grounds and it appeared that Ruby was the winner of the race as she happily boasted "Yes I win! I'm not a fast runner for nothing!" only for Littlefoot and the others to suddenly crash into her due to not being able to slow down. They all lay on top of eachother in a crumpled position before Littlefoot shook his head and suggested "Maybe we should tone it down on the racing." to which Cera promptly agreed "Yeah why don't we."

After the children got up and regained their posture, they quickly walked over to Littlefoot's nest where the stone they brought back from the new world sat. It's previously vibrant blue aura and magical flames that circled around it were now merely reduced to a black slab of rock. Littlefoot's hopeful look of enthusiasm quickly turned to one of disappointment as he said while they glared down at the stone "Really? It's still like this?" before Cera scoffed and retorted "It's been like this ever since the night we got back. What are you expecting here?"

"I don't know, maybe if it glowed again we could go back and visit Pocahontas." pondered Littlefoot out of curiosity before the voice of his grandfather suddenly joined in "I'm afraid that's not too likely Littlefoot." to which the gang turned to see Grandpa Longneck approaching them.

"Hey grandpa!" happily greeted Littlefoot at the sight of his grandfather before the tall longneck stated "I see you're all still interested in this stone you brought back. Unfortunately it hasn't budged an inch or brought back a speck of it's light." to which Petrie remarked as he observed the stone "It almost look no different than a regular rock."

"I don't understand why it came back with us if it doesn't wanna work." questioned a puzzled Chomper as he gently picked up the charcoal like stone before Ruby guessed "Well, maybe it's something for us to remember everyone back in that world." to which Littlefoot sighed while Chomper set it back down "Still,I wish we could get it working again,or at least look like anything other than another old rock." before he kicked a nearby one away.

"Looks like we'll just have to wait, wait, wait." mumbled Ducky in disappointment as Spike groaned in agreement before Cera suddenly got an idea and ordered as she glared at the stone "Hey you! Wake up!" and she then gave it a good ole kick.

"Hey,don't break it!" exclaimed Littlefoot with worry as he rushed over to see if the stone was okay only for him to stop in his tracks when he saw that the rock began to pulsate a blue light and slowly lift up in the air.

"There we go!" laughed Cera with a pure sense of accomplishment before the stone made a sharp crackling sound and shot out seven rays of light alongside a bright flash that was brighter than the sun at noonday. Grandpa Longneck had to close his eyes and turn his head away due to the intense brightness before it slowly began to die down.

Once Grandpa Longneck was able to open his eyes and see what had happened,he gasped in shock to see that the children were all gone and that only the stone remained as it dropped down to the nest, still keeping its blue glow and flames.

"Littlefoot? Children? Littlefoot!" called out Grandpa in a concerned and nervous tone before his attention was drawn to the stone as it gently lay in the nest, and that seemed to explain what had happened in an almost sick way as the longneck sighed while he walked off "There's just no stopping you from getting into trouble huh? Well I guess I better tell everyone else, and they'll be sure to give me an earful."
