Authors note: Don't kill me! It's another story, I know! I know! I already have six others!
This was the first ever fanfiction I ever wrote and I wanted to share it. I changed some parts to fit my writing style now.
Unlike my other posted fanfics this one already has three chapters written, it doesn't seem like a lot but the chapters are much longer than the length of the ones that I've posted so far for my other stories.
My grammar is atrocious, please don't come for me.
I hope you enjoy? I don't know if it's good or not 😂. I don't own The Harry Potter universe, Joanne does tho.
"Dad! Look at what I made!" Draco ran up to his father holding up a painting. "Go show your mother." Lucius cast the painting aside. Draco picked up his painting and ran over to his mother. "Mum! Look at what I made!" Draco held up his painting. Narcissa smiled. "It beautiful." She said "I'll pin it up so everyone can see."
Draco smiled and ran back up to his room.
He shut his bedroom door, sat on his bed and then whispered "Dobby!" Dobby the house elf popped into the room and Draco giggled. He patted the spot on his bed next to him and Dobby sprang up onto the bed. "Dobby! Tomorrows my birthday, did you know!" "Dobby has been counting down the days, sir." Dobby smiled. "I can't wait, I wonder if Mum will make the giant cake like last year!" Dobby grinned. "Don't worry I'll save you some!" Draco giggled and slid off his bed onto the floor next to his art supplies. "Dobby, do you want to make art with me?" "Dobby would love to sir." Dobby jumped off the bed onto the floor and sat next to Draco. "I want to be an artist." Draco whispered. "…But Dad said that people don't like artists, so I'll be a quidditch player instead, then dad will be happy, right?" Draco asked as if for Dobby's opinion. "Why don't you do what you like sir?" Dobby asked quietly. "Don't be silly Dobby." Draco said.
He stood up.
"Where is master going?" Dobby asked. "To see if Nymphadora can come tomorrow, I'm going to ask Mum!" Draco said proudly, Dobby nodded happily but as Draco walked to the door, he knocked over a cup of paint water and it spilled all over the floor. "Mum!" Draco called, however Narcissa did not come Lucius did.
"What did the elf do this time!?" Lucius asked angrily. "Dad it wasn't-" "Stupid elf, clean it up and Draco, don't help him this time he doesn't need it." Draco looked down at his feet. "This art thing is getting out of hand, you need to practice for quidditch, that's what other children are doing these days aren't they?"
Draco mumbled something incoherent.
"Draco, come; you don't need to watch the elf work." Draco stood there for a moment before following after his father. Lucius Malfoy walked down the stairs with Draco following him from behind, he tried to match his father's steps by walking swiftly. He found it funny the way his father walked but he still liked to copy it.
"Sit!" Lucius pointed at a random chair sitting at the dining room table. Draco sat silently and waited and waited and waited.
Finally his mother walked in. "Draco, your father has been thinking-your father and I have been thinking that maybe it's time to stop art and think about what you want to do when you grow up." Draco sat silently. "You can talk, can't you?" His father's voice came from the doorway. Draco felt himself go red and his vision got blurry. Before he knew it wet, hot, angry tears were dripping down his face. "Pathetic." His father muttered.
Draco sat at the table in silence, he was NOT pathetic. "Draco," His mother looked at him sadly. Draco got up and stormed to his room slamming the door behind him. "Sir?" Dobby asked with uncertainty.
Lucius swung the door open "Get to bed!" He said and walked off to his office. Narcissa walked to the doorway a few minutes later and whispered, "Goodnight" then shut the bedroom door.
Ten minutes later Draco was in bed. Dobby lay next to him. "Am I pathetic?" Draco asked. "Sir?" Dobby asked, confused, but Draco was already asleep.
The next morning Draco woke to a tiny present under his pillow. It said, 'Happy Birthday Draco' on it. He unwrapped it and inside was a tiny handmade sculpture of him and Dobby. Draco smiled and hid it in his bedside table with the one from last year.
He then headed down stairs. There was a big sign above the dining room table which had '11' written on it. Underneath the sign was a letter with green lettering.
"Mum?!" Draco called. "In the kitchen!" Narcissa called back. "It came!" Draco called excitedly. Narcissa hurried into the dining room. "Open it." Narcissa whispered. "But Dads not here." Draco said. "He can see after work, open it now." Draco grinned and tore open the letter he read it through about 7 times before asking, "Where's Dobby?" "In the attic." Narcissa sighed. "Dobby!" Draco called and Dobby popped into sight. "I got it!" Draco said excitedly. Dobby looked wearily at Narcissa and gave a small smile.
"Did you hear, Draco; that Harry Potter is attending Hogwarts this year?" "He's, my age!?" Draco asked in disbelief. "Yes!" Narcissa smiled. "Wicked! I'm gonna be his best friend, we can do everything together! We can even be in the same house!" Narcissa smiled and nodded. There was a knock at the door. "Oh, that must be Severus!" Narcissa smiled. "Mum, I don't like it when he comes." Draco moaned. "Don't be silly. He needs to talk with your father. Go up to your room for now" Narcissa walked to the front door.
Draco quickly ran to up his room holding Dobby's hand. He quietly shut the door behind himself and sat on his bed.
He heard voices come from down stairs so he stayed quiet to listen. "Where's Lucius?" "He's not home yet he'll be back in an hour or so, he left last night; something came up at work."
Draco slid off his bed and looked out his window, he saw other children playing outside. They waved up to him and he waved back smiling. Rocks hit his window and the children laughed.
Draco walked away back onto his bed after shutting his curtains.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The rocks hit his window over and over again, until…. smash! The window shattered.
Draco screamed. It had been so sudden he had fallen off his bed. He stood up angrily. He walked over to the rock lying in front of his closet door. He picked it up and walked over to the window. He looked down to find two children laughing and pulling faces. He threw it back down. The rock flew through the air eventually hitting one child in the head, they fell and didn't stand up again.
Draco stepped away from the window shakily, he lay on his bed and glanced over at the window. His bedroom door flung open and standing in the doorway was Narcissa and Severus. They both stared at the window, then the glass, then Draco. "Did you do this?" Narcissa asked. Draco said nothing. He lay with his back to the door. "Did you?" she repeated. She and Severus walked into the room.
Draco closed his eyes.
Severus waved his wand and the window was instantly fixed.
"Draco did you smash the window!?" Narcissa raised her voice and a tear dribbled down Draco's cheek. "Dobby…" Narcissa turned to the elf. "What happened?" "Dobby didn't see, miss." "Severus do you mind leaving the room for a moment?"
Severus Snape walked out closing the door behind himself. "Draco, I need to know whether or not you did this." Narcissa sat on the bed but Draco slid away from her. "I'll be telling your father when he gets home." Narcissa walked out the room. Severus glanced back at Draco before walking down the stairs. Draco lay there and eventually fell asleep.
When he woke, he rolled off his bed and walked groggily over to the window he looked down and saw the child still on the ground, the other children weren't there anymore. He heard the front door open down stairs and heard his father's voice.
He ran into his closet and sat behind his hanging clothes. He sat with his knees to his chest in the dark for 10 minutes until his bedroom door opened. He realised that closet door was slightly open. He panicked. He heard footsteps come closer and he tried to shrink into the shadows. The closet door opened and his father was standing there. "Get out." His father said, he didn't yell but Draco would have preferred it if he did.
Draco stumbled out.
He watched as his father looked out the window. "Did you do that?" Draco stood there frozen. "I said, 'did you do that'!" Lucius shouted. Draco nodded quickly and Lucius push him onto his bed with the metal end of his wand. "I-I didn't mean to." Draco winced. "You're lucky if that gets you into Slytherin." "I did mean to?" Draco said, sounding uncertain. "Pathetic…."
Narcissa walked upstairs to find Lucius leaving Draco's room. "Is he coming down for dinner?" She asked. "He'll be down later." He walked down stairs and Narcissa reluctantly followed. Meanwhile inside Draco's bedroom he was lying on his bed silently. He lay there for a while until he staggered down stairs. He walked over to the dining table and sat down. "Hi" Narcissa smiled until she saw him. He sat at the table half asleep. "Hi." He said plainly. Narcissa placed a plate of food in front and him and left the room. He ate half and tipped the rest in the bin. He headed back up to his room and went to bed. Except he couldn't fall asleep. He lay there all night and before he knew it, it was morning.
