Chapter One:

The teambuilding exercise for Class 1-A was more of an excuse to have fun. It should have been a safe, harmless activity. But Shouta Aizawa had come to expect nothing but trouble from his worst ever problem class. The students stood in a wide circle on the lawn, tossing a ball back and forth. Aizawa kept a careful eye on them, ready to erase quirks.

"Midoriya, to you," Kirishima shouted, throwing the ball with his signature enthusiasm. It soared into Izuku's hands. Then a cloud of green smoke engulfed Izuku.

Of course the problem child would be the first person to turn a fun break from schoolwork into a crisis. Izuku Midoriya couldn't run out to buy milk without running into a villain attack. Wondering what new quirk Izuku had developed this time, Aizawa activated Erasure.

Nothing happened.

"It's not a quirk!" Aizawa shouted, becoming concerned for the first time. Was it a gas bomb? "Villain attack!" He lunged forward, his scarf reaching for Izuku.

The smoke was already fading by the time Aizawa grabbed Izuku and yanked him over. The problem child looked completely unharmed and mildly confused…except his hair had turned white.

Izuku blinked up at him. "Mr. Aizawa? What happened? How did I end up at U.A.?" He looked around.

"You lost your memories?" Aizawa asked. He shook his head. "Really, with all the trouble you get into, I'm the one who's hair should have turned white."

"What are you talking about, Mr. Aizawa?" Izuku gazed up at him blankly. "My hair has always been white."

With the lack of villains attacking, Aizawa had just been starting to relax. Now he tensed up again. The Izuku standing before him didn't have nearly as many scars as his problem child. He wasn't quite as muscular, either.

The class crowded around them. "Is this a prank?" Kaminari asked.

"Did you dye your hair?" Shouto asked. "It looks good on you."

"It's not a prank," Ochaco insisted. "Deku wouldn't do that."

Power Loader threw open the school door and galloped across the lawn, waving a handheld counter. "We just got insane readings from the lab. This is a universe transfer event."

Aizawa's shoulders sagged. Looking at the Izuku who was not his Izuku, he said, "I take it you're still a problem child even back in your own dimension."

"My dimension?" Izuku rubbed the back of his neck in a familiar manner. His eyes were wide and puzzled.

Aizawa said, "I've seen this before. You transported between worlds."

Travel between parallel universes was rare, but not unheard of. The last one in Musutafu had been when Aizawa himself had only been a first year student. It figured that the problem child would get himself wrapped up in the first such incident in decades.

"Principal Nezu should know how to get you back to your own world—" Aizawa began.

The white-haired Izuku's eyes widened. "Sho-chan!" He flung himself forward and glomped Shouto Todoroki.

Ice and fire exploded off Shouto's face in equal quantities and consumed each other. His face bright red, he passed out. The new Izuku either didn't notice or didn't care. He kept squeezing Shouto as if attempting to absorb him into his own body.

Hesitantly, Ochaco said, "Uh, I think he needs to breathe…"

"Do you want a hug too, Occhan and Ten-chan?" Izuku threw one arm around Ochaco and the other around Tenya, dragging them into a group hug. "Both of you look the same as ever."

Ochaco's eyes rolled backward and her face overheated. In a semi-passed out state, she muttered, "Deku…is hugging me…"

"This is definitely not the usual Midoriya," Tenya said, his glasses knocked askew.

"Kacchan!" Izuku's eyes fell on Katsuki. Releasing his current victims, he ran forward with his arms outstretched.

"Get away from me!" Katsuki screamed, scaling up the nearest tree. He perched on the branches, hissing like an angry animal. Oddly, Aizawa would almost swear there was a note of fear in the blusterous boy's voice. That wouldn't at all be like his most temperamental student.

"Do you want to play hide-and-seek, Kacchan?" Izuku's maniac grin widened. He drew back his fist. It swelled up in size, sprouting creepy-looking guns on the knuckles.

Aizawa realized what his problem child was about to do. He ran forward, summoning Erasure. "Hey! That tree is school property!" Aizawa grabbed Izuku by his collar and dragged him away. "We're going to see Nezu immediately. Since when did your quirk let you change your hand like that?"

"Hmmm? Since always?" Izuku smiled with guileless eyes.

Aizawa wondered if this white-haired Izuku had a different power. It seemed plausible. People from other universes could be quite different from their counterparts…as already demonstrated by this one's maniac effusiveness.

"I'm taking the problem child to the principal's office. Someone carry the two unconscious kids to the nurse's office." Aizawa inclined his head at Shouto and Ochaco.

As he was dragged away, Izuku stretched out his hands behind him, groaning, "I want Sho-chan to come with me."

Aizawa grumbled, "Yeah, and I want to wake up and discover this was all a dream, but that won't be happening either. You knocked Todoroki out with your uncharacteristic affection."

"Does the other me not get along with Sho-chan?" Izuku asked, an odd edge lurking in his voice.

Aizawa said, "You're great friends. He's just more reserved than you, especially the current you."

"We're hero students together?" Izuku asked.

"Yes, you aren't?" For the first time, Aizawa noticed this Izuku wore casual jeans and a T-shirt.

Izuku shrugged. "I tried it briefly, but it wasn't for me."

Aizawa couldn't understand that. In all his years of teaching, he'd never met a student more committed to heroism than Izuku Midoriya. But of course, this wasn't his Izuku. He didn't know the circumstances, so he had no right to say anything. Yet he couldn't resist opening his mouth. "I'm sure you would have been a great hero if you wanted to be."

Izuku laughed. "You're nice! My Aizawa was nice to me, too!" He leapt onto Aizawa and hugged him.

"Okay, our moment is over, get off me," Aizawa groaned, secretly wondering if this Izuku had quit because he hit his head a little too hard.

Nezu laughed for nearly an hour straight. Of course the principal thought this was funny—he wouldn't have to be the one to tell Inko Midoriya about it. Nezu promised the support department was already working on building a portal. They'd sent the last otherworldly visitor back that way, and Nezu seemed confident they could do it again. The other Izuku would attend class in the meantime. The portal would take a couple days at most to complete. This took a huge weight off Aizawa's mind. Maybe the latest problem child mess would be easily solved.

…He'd probably jinxed himself with that thought, hadn't he?

As soon as Aizawa opened the classroom door, the new Izuku shot past him. "Sho-chan!" he cried with his arms outstretched.

Shouto Todoroki turned beet red. His hair froze over.

Izuku lifted Shouto out of his seat with his embrace. "You're the best air conditioner during the summer!"

Shouto made incoherent sputtering noises.

The rest of the class crowded around, eyes glowing with curiosity. Momo asked, "How did you transfer universes?"

Kirishima called, "Am I in your universe too? Do I still have the same quirk? What's my personality like?"

Mina laughed. "What if you're shy and super-formal in his universe? That would be hilarious! How about me, what am I like? Am I dating anyone?"

Izuku glared at them coldly. "I don't know how I came here. Would you all step back and give me space? Don't speak to me so familiarly."

Kirishima recoiled. "Sorry, man. I thought it was fine because of how you're hugging Todoroki…who looks like he passed out again."

"I'm getting my daily dose of Sho-can love." Izuku clung onto his limp victim. "Only Ten-chan, Occhan, and Kacchan are allowed to hug me."

"That would be inappropriate behavior in class," Tenya said in the same tone as if Izuku had asked him to shoot a dog or spare Stain's life.

Ochaco flushed. "I-I wouldn't have the nerve, Deku." She poked her fingers together.

"Deku? Why do you call me that?" Izuku asked.

Ochaco said, "It's your nickname and your hero name. I'll stop if you don't like it."

Izuku shrugged. "I don't care, but 'useless' is a weird hero name. Did other me get hit on the head?" He ignored a dozen people staring at him with identical expressions that said, The one who got hit on the head is probably you!

"Heh, you should hear Katsuki's hero name ideas. They all got rejected." Kaminari chuckled. Katsuki had flattened himself against the wall on the other end of the room. Kaminari raised an eyebrow at his friend. "Bro, come over here, you look silly."

It had taken half an hour to coax Katsuki down from the tree. He still seemed edgy. His gaze flickered in all directions. Every time he looked at Izuku, he twitched and tried to move away, driving his back further against the wall.

Teasingly, Kaminari asked, "Are you scared of a little hug?"

"I'm not scared of the fucking nerd!" Katsuki shouted. But he made no motion to come closer.

Izuku set Shouto back in his seat. "Oooo, I want to hear your hero names, Kacchan. You never got to be a hero in my universe." When Katsuki didn't move, Izuku started toward him.

"Get away from me!" Katsuki screamed. Arm extended, he sent forth an explosion.

Izuku's hair raised. His eyes glowed. The explosion vanished. Aizawa stared. Had the foreign problem child just used Erasure? Wasn't the other Izuku's quirk a strength quirk that swelled up his hand?

Katsuki made a strangled choking sound, then dove out the window with a shattering of glass.

Even for the often-destructive student, this was odd behavior. Aizawa said, "I'll go after Bakugo. Everyone, treat this time as independent study."

Except as soon as the words left his mouth, Aizawa realized that he didn't want to leave his class alone with the other Izuku. He could not exactly put his finger on why. It might be because the other Izuku had used Erasure, but he'd been uneasy even before that. His teacher's instinct screamed at him not to leave the classroom. It might not be fair or rational. Maybe he was only uneasy because this Izuku was so different, even though he seemed friendly. But Aizawa had learned over the years not to disobey his instincts.

Aizawa cleared his throat. "Never mind. I'll find Bakugo after class."

It was not Katsuki who his teacher's instinct believed to be in danger.

After class finished, All Might arrived at the door with a bento and a hopeful expression. "Young Midoriya, I heard about the swap. Would you like to eat lunch together? I'm curious to hear about your world."

"You want to eat lunch with me?" The white-haired Izuku looked around as if expecting some other student to pop up behind a desk. "Is that for me?" He gazed at the bento.

"Of course, my boy." All Might smiled.

Izuku teared up. "You're so nice! You didn't have a high opinion of me in my universe."

"I what?" All Might gasped. "I'm sorry my other self treated you poorly, my boy. Clearly, that was his loss."

Izuku smiled through his tears. He ran forward and hugged All Might. "Yes! I want to have lunch with you!"

All Might patted him on the back.

Aizawa could trust the number one hero to handle any strangeness from the other Izuku. Time to go looking for Katsuki Bakugo.

After searching around the outside of the school, Aizawa found Katsuki sitting on a bench. "Are you hurt?" he asked.

Katsuki sneered. "I know how to jump out a window. Do I look like an idiot to you?" He flicked a piece of glass off his shoulder.

"You seem to have a problem with the other Izuku." Aizawa did not use the word scared because he knew if he did, Katsuki would completely shut down on him.

Katsuki grunted.

Aizawa said, "In all honesty, something seems off about him to me. But I can't put my finger on it. Could you help me figure it out?"

Katsuki looked away. After a moment he said, "You know the shitty nerd can be…different…when he snaps. Like his personality changes. He goes all…" Katsuki waved his hand vaguely in a way that indicated he wasn't going to use the word terrifying but he expected Aizawa to understand him. "This Izuku…he's angry. He's always angry."

Aizawa frowned. That hadn't been his impression at all. "I thought that he seemed overly cheerful." Aizawa almost wanted to say crazy, but he didn't insult his students like that, even other versions of them. "A little too frivolous. But not angry."

"The damn fake is overflowing with energy. But it's not cheerfulness. It's worse than anger. It's something colder," Katsuki said. "Like, there's a door inside him that usually gets cracked at most. But right now it's completely open. The door has been wedged open and can't close. That's bad."

"I see," Aizawa said, even though he didn't think he did.

Katsuki bit his lip. He said, "The other one, he was lying when he said he didn't know how he transferred to this world."

Aizawa frowned. "How do you know that?"

"I just do." Katsuki hunched his shoulders. "Look, I've known the little shit since we both could barely walk and talk. I know his tells. He was lying."

Izuku opened his eyes. He stood in round stone chamber. Electric torches hung from the walls. His eyes, adjusted to bright sunlight, could barely see. He rubbed them.

One moment, he'd been outside undergoing a teambuilding exercise with the rest of Class 1-A. In the blink of an eye, he'd been transported to this strange place. The League of the Villains were the obvious suspects, though he hadn't seen any signs of Kurogiri's shadows. Izuku dropped to a fighting crouch.

A familiar blond spikey head blurred before him. Izuku blinked, his vision still spotty. "Kacchan? Were you taken too? Did you see what happened?"

"Don't move," Katsuki said. "Don't attempt to attack me or resist."

Izuku tried to respond that of course he wouldn't attack Katsuki. But his lips wouldn't move. He was frozen in place. There had been a strange echo in Katsuki's voice. A quirk?

As Izuku's eyes adjusted, he saw that this Katsuki did not wear U.A.'s uniform. The current Katsuki had a black jacket with a red "X" across the front, red gauntlets, and a black mask with white teeth drawn on it. Izuku hesitated to stereotype, but this looked like a villainous costume. Surely Katsuki wouldn't have had time to change clothing in the seconds since Izuku had last seen him. Was this Himiko Toga?

But that conclusion didn't feel right. Not when Katsuki raked him with a very familiar contemptuous gaze that was signature Kacchan. Then Katsuki grunted in a way that Izuku didn't think a shapeshifter could fake. "You really do look like him," Katsuki said cryptically. "Gives me the willies." He pulled out a syringe. "This will keep you knocked out long enough for Izu-chan to decide what he wants to do with you. At the least, he said he wanted to steal your quirk. He was hoping it would be another version of his own…"

If Izuku hadn't already been frozen, he would have gone into state of shock about Katsuki calling him Izu-chan…except the address hadn't been referring to him, had it? He struggled, but couldn't react to the syringe approaching his neck.

One for All activated even without his will—just like how it had activated during the Sports Festival when Hitoshi Shinsou had brainwashed him. A green spark ran down Izuku's arm, fortunately not breaking a finger this time. But the brainwashing did break.

Izuku swung his fist and punched Katsuki in the jaw.

It happened fast enough to catch the other boy completely off-guard. Katsuki went down like a stone.

Alone in an unfamiliar room, panting, Izuku tried to figure out what to do next. He didn't think he'd hit Katsuki hard enough to keep him down for long. But he didn't want to cause a concussion, those could be risky and even fatal. He still didn't know if this was an imposter, or if his childhood friend had been brainwashed. Izuku briefly considered using the fallen syringe, but rejected the idea because he wasn't sure what was inside. He couldn't chance killing his childhood friend, if this turned out to be the real Katsuki.

On the floor, Katsuki groaned and stirred.

Crap. Izuku looked around. This circular room had eight metal doors, each with a retinal scanner. The strange Katsuki had spoken of another Izuku. Guided by a hunch, Izuku ran to the closest door and put his eye to it.

The door snapped open. The room inside resembled a luxurious hotel room, with a double bed, an armchair, a stuffed bookshelf, and a minifridge. But the steel walls and lack of windows made this obviously a prison cell. A tall white-haired with red eyes lay on the bed reading a comic book. His handcuffs confirmed Izuku's theory. There was something familiar about him, tugging at an old memory, but Izuku couldn't quite put his finger on it.

This looked like the perfect cell to stuff maybe-Katsuki into. Izuku grabbed the blond boy and dragged him forward. He flashed a professional smile at the handcuffed man. "Sir, I'm a hero, and I'm here to rescue you. Please step out of the cells so that I can seal this potentially brainwashed villain inside and we can escape."

The man immediately leapt to his feet. He helped Izuku push Katsuki inside and shut the door. It locked with a click.

Standing up, the man was even taller. He might even be more giant than All Might. He gazed down at Izuku with amused eyes. "So he did succeed in breaking the barrier between universes. But he underestimated and failed to contain you."

Izuku's blood ran cold. He knew that voice, even though he'd failed to recognize the face without its scars. He'd just freed All for One.

Izuku silently apologized to his mother for dying before her. He also apologized to Aunt Mitsuki and Uncle Masaru for possibly getting their son killed as well, if that was Katsuki. Then he activated One for All and shot toward another door. Even if he was probably about to die, he wouldn't go down without a struggle.

Walking forward at a slower pace, All for One called, "I'm not your enemy. Right now, I'm the closest thing to an ally that you have, and the only person who can explain everything to you. Is that One for All? You have One for All? How fascinating. Just how different is your universe?"

Fortunately, the second door opened to Izuku's eye as well. He slammed the door behind him. This room looked identical to the last one, except the bed had no sheets and the bookshelf was empty. He'd ended up in another prison cell. Dammit, he'd been hoping for the hallway. Now what? Should he try to punch through the wall? It looked like solid steel.

Papers spread across the bare mattress. Several ripped notebooks lay on the floor. The walls were covered in mathematical calculations and scribbles. Izuku read the closest one: Maximum mass possible to carry through a universe. Below that was another note: I should be able to find a universe to my specifications with a strong enough wish. It has to work. I'll search them all if that's what it takes. He shuddered. Why had his other self been so obsessed with traveling between universes? What did he want to bring back?

All for One said, "I'm no threat to you. I can't even break down this door. Your other self stripped me of most of my quirks. Furthermore, these cuffs are an advanced version of the police stun cuffs. They can monitor my pulse. They'll knock me out the moment I try to use a quirk. You can come out and talk to me."

The coaxing tone only made Izuku more wary. "Actually, if this door is stopping you from coming in, then that sounds like a good reason to keep it between us. But I'm prepared to listen to what you have to say." If this place (another universe?) had an evil Katsuki Bakugo, then a good All for One was not beyond the realm of possibility. But Izuku didn't buy it. The smug way this All for One had looked at him and spoken had too perfectly resembled his counterpart. To be blunt, Izuku got bad vibes off him.

All for One sighed. "Surely you're not planning on staying in that cell forever? Speaking from personal experience, I assure you, it gets boring fast."

Izuku watched the door carefully, not sure that he trusted the villain's claim to be unable to break it down. "Then why don't you convince me to come out? Start at the beginning. Where is this place?"

All for One's tone contained a note of amusement. "I think you can figure that one out on your own."

"I'm probably in a parallel universe. You're not my teacher, and this isn't an exam," Izuku growled. "I don't want the Socrates Method. I want answers."

All for One chuckled. "I knew you could figure it out. You got your brains from your dad."

"You know my dad in this universe?" Izuku asked. "How does a supervillain meet up with an absentee businessman living in America?"

A pause came from the other side of the door. All for One said, "I am your father. Heh. I've always wanted to say that Star Wars quote. You didn't know?"

Izuku barked out a laugh. "Nice quote. But the joke was dreadful. I'm not interested in trading old movie references, either. Tell me the truth."

All for One said, "Come now. Search your feelings…or rather, your quirk hoard. We have the same power."

"No, we don't." Izuku glared at the metal wall between them. "I was quirkless before I got One for All."

"Are you sure?" There was another pause. "Perhaps that was the difference between our universes. Perhaps I raised you differently because you were quirkless, sheltered you more."

"Or you're not my sperm donor," Izuku growled. "That could the difference between our universes." He was getting a worryingly strong feeling that this All for One actually believed what he was saying. Frantic denial welled up inside him.

"Does your own father not look like me?"

"I haven't seen his face in so long, I don't remember."

"How odd."

"It's called being a deadbeat dad. There's nothing particularly unusual or exciting about it."

"Is your All for One dead?" The villain did not sound concerned, only interested.

Izuku rolled his eyes. "I wish."

"Very odd indeed," All for One muttered. "Should I assume the other me has a different personality? Is his absence part of a plan? Did he lose his memories? I've always been so close to my son. I promise, I'll look after your best interests just like how I always looked after my own dear child."

Izuku snorted. "Your alleged son locked you up in a bank vault."

"He took after me a bit too much." All for One sighed. "We look alike. Open the door, and I'll show you my face. Then you won't be able to deny the truth."

Stubbornly, Izuku said, "I've never seen my All for One's face. Even if you look like me, maybe he doesn't. Maybe the critical change is that in your universe, All for One is Hisashi Midoriya, whereas in mine he's some other guy. My dad could be a time-traveling Dabi for all I know."

All for One groaned. "This is getting ridiculous. You know it, you're just not admitting it."

Coldly, Izuku said, "Your insistence in this lie makes me less likely to trust you. Clearly I'm very different from the Izuku Midoriya in this universe, thus proving that we had different fathers. He must have gotten his personality from you."

"I deliberately molded him to be like me," All for One said. "I didn't want my son to turn out like my foolish little brother. I thought it would be better to raise him without pesky morals from a young age. I might have made a mistake."

Izuku snorted. "You were locked up in a bank vault and you might have made a mistake? Narcissism is a disease, you should seek medical treatment."

"For your information, my plan was working perfectly," All for One said. "I made certain to teach my Izuku from a young age that only family mattered. He helped me in my business from the time he could talk. We were a happy family…until that oaf All Might maimed me. The source of all my problems, as usual."

"You clearly still have a face."

"My son found a power to heal me. He also stripped me of most of my quirks, then tossed me into my own bank vault. Instead of correctly blaming All Might for what happened, he blamed me for being reckless. He said I wasn't allowed to leave him, even in death. Which I'd told him about family, but he completely misinterpreted the lesson."

Izuku snickered. In a fake voice, he said, "Oh, I'm so sorry that your kid ended up as psycho as you. Wait, didn't my—his—mom have anything to say about this?"

"My wife died in childbirth. Another change between our worlds, I take it?"

Izuku flinched. He tried to tell himself that maybe this Izuku's mother hadn't been Inko Midoriya. He didn't quite have the nerve to ask. He'd suffered enough shocks today. The image of his mother and All for One together might push him over the edge. "Riveting though your family drama might be, I very much wanted you to tell me how I ended up here. If you want me to believe we have goals in common, then explain."

All for One said, "For some strange reason, my son took it into his head that he wanted to attend U.A. He was always fond of heroes and their merchandise, even as he had no qualms about helping me modify Nomu from their corpses. I'd successfully ridded him of the curse of self-sacrifice and altruism, but he thought being a hero looked like fun. With me locked up, I couldn't stop him."

"U.A. let him in?" Izuku asked.

"They don't have a psychological screening. The brats just have to murder a bunch of robots."

Izuku blinked. "Now that you mention that, it does seem like an oversight."

All for One continued, "I sheltered my son. He'd never been openly seen as a villain. U.A. had no reason to reject him. He mostly refrained from killing anyone while he was a student. While he was playing hero, he became good friends with a couple other children. I don't recall their names. The only important one for this story is the boy with the magnificent fire-and-ice quirk."

"Shouto Todoroki," Izuku said.

"Yes, he was related to the Number Two Hero. I remember that, now."

"Was?" Izuku froze in place. A cold fear settled into his heart. His voice shook. "What do you mean, 'was'?"

All for One said, "The Todoroki boy died. My son never learned how to let go of those he was attached to. I daresay his obsession even surpasses my own, since he found a way to break down the barrier between universes to bring back a replacement for the one whom he'd lost."

Izuku's voice rose from a whisper to a scream. "Do you mean to tell me that my evil knock-off version plans to kidnap my Shouto Todoroki?"

OMAKE TIME!

Omake: The All for Ones Club

Mirror All for One: You all are a bunch of rank amateurs! My son just took one look at me, and locked himself into the vault. No, I'm not going to explain how I did that. Explaining would ruin my mystique. No, I'm not going to explain why it's been so long since I last showed up at the club or how I healed my face either.

All for One: Your son vaulted you, didn't he?

Mirror All for One: …Dammit.

All for One: I'm so jealous! You have a family member who loves you!

Omake: Inside All for One's Twisted Head

Izuku: I'm a hero.

Mirror All for One: Hmm, I could pretend that I'm a hero to get him to trust me. Or I could literally be locked up in a bank vault forever before I'll ever even pretend to be a hero in order to get out.

Izuku: So, you have a bit more in common with your little brother then you'd ever admit.

Omake: Past Reminisces with a Crazy Person

Mirror Izuku: My All Might told me that I couldn't become a hero.

Izuku: Mine, too. But I've gotten over it. I think I had bad timing because I asked All Might when he was having a bad day and suffering from depression.

Mirror Izuku: I was the victim of bad timing, too. I asked him while standing on the corpse of someone I just tortured to death.

Author's Note: Mirror Katsuki failed to contain Izuku because he didn't know Izuku's quirk—he thought it would be All for One. Mirror Izuku didn't predict that his other self would have One for All, with its protection from brainwashing.

Izuku's denial doesn't necessarily mean All for One isn't his dad. It's been a long time since he's last seen his father's face. Long enough for him to summon deep reserves of denial if he wants to badly enough. This is intended to be an Izuku from a canon-verse, so who knows?

This fic will update once a week on Sundays.
