Prologue

Gold eyes opened in a pool of gold. From the pool's waters, a humanoid rose. It raised its arm and looked at its fingers.

"To think something I deemed as a failure would become my second chance to achieve my goals." The humanoid spoke. It could feel this body was much weaker than its previous one. But it was still very powerful by servant standards.

However, with this body came something much more valuable. Something that would give him a better idea for success and countering those who would seek to stop it.

"Experience." It spoke. It had realized that it had been doing things wrong. It had not been looking at the issue from the perspective of those who wanted it resolved. With the loss of its pride, it now saw the world with more clarity.

"Hm. First, I must learn what I can from this world. After that, this pool would be excellent for summoning those who I shall require for this quest." The humanoid spoke before coming out of the cave into a forest under an orange sky. Phantasmal beasts alien to Earth's ecosystem moved about.

"This will do. This world will be perfect for the New Genesis."

"Child of the Volsungs…"

Soft and eerie voices reached Sigurd's ears. He found himself in a dark cavern made of purple rocks twinkling with bright lights with a glowing blue well in the middle along with dark blue crystals on the banks of the well. There was nothing nothing in sight except for three women in grey robes sitting and weaving by the well's waters. The one in left was translucent and was spinning glowing blue fibers coming from the well into yarn. The one in the middle was opaque and weaving the yarns into fabric. The one on the right was almost transparent like a ghost and inscribed runes on the fabric.

Sigurd's breath hitched. He recognized these three women. They were, after all, responsible for all the events that took place in his life.

"The Norns." He muttered. Meeting the Norns themselves was an almost impossible occurrence, with any knowledge of their appearance only coming from Allfather recounting his encounter with them to mortals. Even after ascending to the throne of heroes Sigurd had no beliefs he would ever meet them.

But Sigurd kept himself in check and took a deep breath. "Lady Norns…" He began in a calm voice. "I did not know you could venture outside of the reverse side."

"We are not like the other deities who lose their power to weakening human faith. We will remain as we are as long as there is a concept of fate. As such, we can certainly pull you out of the throne of heroes before you are summoned by a grail…"

"Why have I been summoned here?"

"We are in need of your strength…" The one in the middle, Verdandi most likely, spoke, surprising Sigurd.

Why would the Norns need him? They were some of the most powerful beings in the nine realms. Surely they would be able to handle…

"Because this is something that is in a place where our power is meaningless…" The one in the left, Urd, spoke reading Sigurd's mind.

Huh? Sigurd thought.

"Lady Norns…" He spoke. "Forgive my speaking out of turn, but the only place where your powers would be meaningless would be a world outside of the nine realms. A world with its own rules and reality. My powers would be meaningless over there as well."

"That is what would have happened…" Skuld spoke. "But the circumstances are special…"

"Special in what…"

"We are not done, Slayer of Fafnir. Do not interrupt." Urd cut Sigurd off. "5 years ago, The Demon King Goetia had declared war on history, creating seven deviations in time to destroy humanity's foundation maintained by 7 holy grails. However, these 7 holy grails were not the only ones. There was another grail. A grail created 3000 years ago just after the death of King Solomon which Goetia attempted to use immediately. It failed and the grail was sent into space and into a foreign world. For 3000 years it remained far away and outside concern, but when the Alien god attempted to replace human history with the Lostbelts, it attempted to pull in the foreign world to make it a lostbelt as well…"

Verdandi continued from Urd. "The world was able to fight off the Alien god's will, but as a result now is much closer to our planet, enough for powerful beings to cross over. The grail there has been activated by someone who we cannot see.

Skuld started speaking. "It will summon multiple heroic spirits and you will be among them. Your power will be greatly reduced since it is a different planet, but it will still be enough to overcome its dangers. Your purpose will be to find the holy grail and defeat the one who activated it. Any questions…?"

"A few…The lostbelt is an alternative history of humanity, correct?"

"Yes…" Verdandi replied.

"So how would this world be a lostbelt if it is an alien world?"

"That is because this world has its own version of humanity. It resembles Midgard in many ways…"

"Where would the Grail be?"

"That we cannot discern. Our vision is very clouded when looking into the foreign world. The most we can tell you is that the grail is not whole, it is fractured. Seek out the Infinite man on the on the foreign world, he should be able to get you started on your journey…"

Sigurd pursed his lips. He had to use the grail to summon the twin dragons, who he must defeat, meaning his own wish could not be…

"As a reward, we will allow you to see your wife briefly." Skuld spoke as Sigurd's eyes widened.

"It is possible?" He asked, his calm voice now having a tinge of joy.

"Do remember we deities of fate have not decreased in power since the age of gods ended. Resurrecting the dead is well within our power. Consider it compensation for the sorrow we brought upon your first life…"

"Then I will accept. I want no greater reward than this." Sigurd spoke.

"Good. We expect success, Sigurd Fafnisbana Sigmundsson…" The Norns spoke before Sigurd's world went black.

In the office of Beacon Academy, Professor Ozpin sat shifting through the application forms for the new batch of Beacon.

"Hm, I should get to…grk!"

Ozpin suddenly felt an explosion of magical energy echo all across remnant. He fell off his chair and writhed in pain as the magical energy tugged at his connection

A man facing a dragon…

Two men fighting each other on green fields…

Ozpin shut his mind off it.

"What were those…?" He wondered. Those images that showed did not resemble anywhere on Remnant. So what were they?

Ozpin stood up and looked back at the forms. Whatever that magical energy was, Salem had felt it too.

He picked up his scroll and pressed the contact button.

"Huh? I didn't expect you to call, Oz? Usually you would be drowning in the application forms for Beacon. What is it?" A gravelly and slurred voice spoke with some mirth.

"Something has happened. I felt a burst of magical energy I have not felt since the first age." Ozpin spoke.

"…Where?" The voice spoke seriously.

Ozpin sharpened his senses to pinpoint the magical energy, now feeling it somewhere south of forever fall forest. More were there, but too faint to pinpoint where exactly.

"The blast happened at Remnant's center but now is gone. I can feel power pockets of magical energy. The closest one is south of forever fall forest.

"Shit, that's where Amber and I are right now. Alright then. What should I be looking for?"

"I do not know. But I have a feeling they are premonitions for something massive."

A/N: So, uh, hello. This is my first fanfic so hope you guys enjoy the story. I've put in Siegfried as one of the tags because there isn't one for Sigurd. Please give constructive criticism.
