The last thing Annabeth expected when entering the tampon aisle was to come face to face with a very disgruntled Percy Jackson. He glanced at the boxes exasperatedly, eyes scanning the rows and then dropping to his phone.

She weighed out her options. All she wanted to do was grab a box quickly, head home with her snacks and disappear into her bedsheets until school on Monday. The cramps were killing her, and she planned on spending the rest of her day curled in bed, probably watching Harry Potter. However, this seemed too good miss.

As the boy searched the packs, face getting increasingly redder as he went, Annabeth couldn't help to jump on this opportunity to make fun of him.

She raised her eyebrow at him.

'Wow, just when i thought you couldn't get any weirder, here you are stalking the feminine hygiene aisle.'

He jumped at the sound of her voice, spinning round to meet her eyes in what she would call a desperate gaze.

'Oh thank god. Help me!'

Annabeth and Percy were not the greatest of friends. In fact, she'd go as far to say that the pair didn't like each other. They spent the entire time in shared lessons exchanging snide comments, and competing with each other in every way they could.

Unfortunately, the pair had gym together, so you can imagine how bad that got. They were both incredibly sporty, and would always compete for the highest scores. Almost all the time, Annabeth won, but Percy never stopped trying.

It would always end in the pair getting detention, Percy stating, 'What a shame! We have to spend more time together!' He would always follow up with a wink and laugh, causing Annabeth to scowl and hit him with her gym bag.

Her friends would always joke about him liking her, but she would just scoff. She'd never admit it to them, but she thought he wasn't bad looking. He had this soft black hair that hung over his eyes and a energy about him that made her crave more. He was definitely a skater boy, and she often found herself staring at him.

She didn't like him though. Definitely not.

She snapped out of her trance when Percy shoved his phone infront of her face.

'Im looking for these ones. God why do they all look the same? And why is there orange flavoured ones?'

Annabeth raised an eyebrow at the boy and glanced down at his phone. She immediately recognised the brand, it was the ones she used.

She shook her head at him.

'You're lucky that I'm too tired to make fun of you right now.'

She walked up the aisle and easily grabbed two boxes of the tampons, chucking one to Percy who caught it easily.

He looked at her in awe.

'You're my hero. Honestly. I've been here for half an hour.'

Annabeth laughed softly and she could see him grin at her from the side.

'You've finally started your period?' Annabeth joked, causing him to roll his eyes.

He went to make a comment back, but paused as Annabeth winced, a shooting pain making its way through her lower stomach. He looked at her with worry, eyes drifting down to her own box of tampons and then widened his eyes in realisation.

She sighed and glanced at him.

'Is that all you need help with? Or does your girlfriend need something else?'

His eyebrows shot up to his hairline and he was quick to correct her.

'Oh! No! These are for my mom! No girlfriend here! Completely single, in case you were wondering.'

She watched as he laughed awkwardly, going to lean on the shelve and knocking a couple of boxes on the floor.

She laughed at his clumsiness and he grinned sheepishly.

'Okay then. Weirdo. You should get her chocolate too. It's what i always eat when I'm on my period. Makes it less sucky.'

She waved the bar at her hand at him and he smiled softly, nodding.

'Noted.'

She turned and said her goodbye, before walking out of the aisle, feeling slightly less shit than she did when she entered.

Annabeth scowled as she made her way up the hallway, looking murderously at anyone in her path.

She was not in the mood today. She sighed as she dumped her backpack in front of her locker, entering her combination. Once opened, she chucked the bag inside and glanced at the shelve, looking for another tampon.

She froze as she saw a chocolate bar. It had a little sticky note attached, and she looked at it suspiciously as she went to pick it up.

' Hope this makes you less grumpy. - Percy :)'

She scanned the hallway, seeing it empty, and glanced back down at the bar in her hand. It was the same one that she had waved at him a couple days ago in the store.

She'd be lying if she said she didn't smile.
