Hello everyone! This story idea just randomly came to me. It started as a one-shot idea and has now become a two story long plot. I really shouldn't be starting a new story when I have others to finish and not a ton of time, but here I am anyway. haha. Enjoy!

She's Having My Baby

The sun's harsh rays made it difficult for Anna to remain in her peaceful slumber. She groaned and turned away from the window, finding her wife awake and looking at her. Upon seeing Anna was awake, Mary's eyes lit up.

"What?" Anna asked, yawning. "How long have you been watching me sleep?"

"Oh, I don't know."

"That's creepy, you know?" Anna inched forward, lightly kissing Mary before laying back down on her pillow. Mary's hand reached out, cupping Anna's face.

"Do we ask him today at brunch?"

"Today?" Anna inhaled sharply. "I guess, yes, today would be the day to do that, wouldn't it." She sat up, adjusting the top of her nightgown. Mary came up behind her, placing her head on her shoulder.

"We don't have to," Mary said. "We could wait a little while longer. It is quite the question, isn't it? Hey, want to give us your sperm?"

Anna let out a weak chuckle, leaning back against Mary.

"If we don't ask, though, we have to wait longer." She felt Mary's hand run down her arm. "I'm ready for a baby now."

"Oh I know you are, darling. I always catch you lingering in the baby sections at the department stores." Mary kissed her shoulder before sliding out of the bed and drawing her robe over her shoulders.

"Do you think he'll look at us like we're mad?" Anna asked. She bit down on the inside of her cheek. Though she and Mary had spoken extensively over who to ask and how to ask, it felt overwhelming thinking of actually doing it.

"No," Mary said simply. "Darling, I think of everyone, he'll understand." Mary walked over to the window, opening the curtains to allow more light inside their room.

"And are you going to tell your parents our plans?"

Mary's head cocked to the side momentarily before she turned back to Anna.

"Yes. I think they'll be excited, another grandchild. They have Sybbie and Marigold, maybe we can give them a boy."

Anna smiled. She got out of bed, taking Mary's hands within her own.

"But they'll still be thrilled with another girl, I'm sure."

"Yes, but it would help us win if we had the first grandson. Papa is surrounded by girls. He'd be smitten if he found out he's finally getting a boy."

"Win? I didn't realize it was a competition."

"Anna, being one of three girls makes everything a competition. Could you imagine if Edith gave Papa the first boy?"

Anna chuckled, bringing Mary closer to her. Their noses touched.

"You did give your parents the only daughter-in-law."

"And they adore you, Anna. But still you're another –"

"Girl?"

"Yes, exactly."

Mary's hands reached out to touch Anna's flat belly. She smiled.

"I cannot wait until there is a baby in there."

"Are you sure you want me to carry the baby?" Anna asked. Mary let out a small laugh.

"I don't want to be pregnant, Anna. We've discussed this over and over again. You'll have the babies, and I will happily cater to your every need. Plus, you have always wanted to be pregnant. Win-win in my book."

Anna kissed her wife once more. She then stepped back to go and find something to wear for their brunch today. Her stomach was already in knots. Mary seemed to sense this, because she came back behind her, placing her hands on her shoulders.

"It's nothing to be nervous about, darling. He will completely understand. He will want to help us."

"I know." Anna grabbed out a purple sun dress. "It's still strange."

"It is. And do wear that. I love that dress on you." Mary playfully smacked her bum before disappearing into their bathroom.

Anna placed the dress on the edge of the bed. She then walked of the bedroom and downstairs to start the coffee in the kitchen. The butler, Mr. Carson, stood at the bottom of the stairs smiling up brightly.

"Is there anything I can get for you?"

Even though she'd been married to Mary for a year now, Anna still struggled to adjust to having a literal butler in her house. They also had a housekeeper who came by every other day to clean the house. Anna insisted they didn't need a butler, but Mr. Carson had been in Mary's life since the moment she was born. He lived down the road with his wife, Mrs. Elsie Carson, and came early every morning ready to help with whatever they may need.

"That's all right, Mr. Carson, I can start my own coffee."

Mr. Carson made a low, displeased sound, but he nodded.

Anna went into the kitchen and started the coffee pot. She also grabbed a small tin of biscuits from the counter. She'd need something in her stomach to tide her over until brunch time. While she awaited the coffee, Anna went to sit at their little table by the window. It gave a beautiful view of Downton Abbey.

"You really should let Carson make your coffee," Mary said, entering the kitchen. She sat down next to Anna, grabbing a biscuit from the tin.

"Mary, its coffee. You pour some water in and add some coffee. Simple."

"You're making him feel useless."

"I'm not trying to," Anna promised. Mary gave her a pointed look. "Okay, fine, tomorrow I'll let him make the coffee."

"That's all I ask."

-X-X-X-X-

While Mary would never admit it to Anna, she was nervous about today. For months, the two of them had discussed potential sperm donors. They'd narrowed it down to a few men they were sure they could trust to ask such a delicate question to, and who they'd want as their child's biological father.

She took Anna's hand, giving it a squeeze before entering the restaurant. He was already there, sitting at a booth. He saw them and smiled, waving them over.

Mary felt Anna tense beside her.

"It'll be fine," she promised. They walked over to the table. He stood.

"Thomas!" Anna greeted. She hugged their friend. He hugged her back. Then he hugged Mary.

"It's good to see you both."

"Yes, tell us all about your travels! How is America?" Mary asked.

Thomas glanced between them both.

"All right, what do you both want?"

"Us?" Anna's voice nearly squeaked.

"Yes, I know you both rather well. You have something you want. So, what is it? Has Carson decided to retire? You know I'm not going to go back to being a butler, don't you?"
"We don't want you to be our butler, Thomas," Mary said, rolling her eyes. "Carson still does a brilliant job. No, what we wanted to ask you – " Mary looked to Anna, she nodded. "Well, we would like you to be a sperm donor for our child."

Thomas's eyes widened.

"We've been thinking about it. You'd be a wonderful father, not that we'd expect anything from you," Mary added. "More like you'd be involved as much as you'd like, but Anna and I are the parents. You'd get to be the bonus parent, the fun uncle if you will. You've always wanted children, haven't you? But this way, you could still travel. We'd tell the baby the truth, of course, but as I said you could have as little or as much involvement as you'd like."

"Um." Thomas cleared his throat. "I'm sorry; I can't. I wish you both the best, but I can't be your donor."

"Oh," Mary said. Next to her, Anna deflated.

"We understand," Anna told him, with a stressed nod. "It's a lot to ask and we just kind of threw the question on you."

"No, it's not that. I would love to be able to help you have a child, truly. But I can't. My…swimmers don't work. I had a test years ago because another couple asked me the same thing. Sadly, it's not possible."

"Oh, Thomas, I'm sorry, we didn't…"

"No need to apologize, Anna," Thomas said. "I'm honored, actually, that you'd think of me to be your donor. Am I the first?"

"Yes."

"Then I am extremely honored. Who is next on the list?"

Anna pulled her phone out of her purse and opened up her Notes App on her phone. Mary had to admit it was a bit silly to have their list of names on an app on Anna's phone. Anna read over the list, though they knew it by heart. It was not that long.

"Matthew."
