Radiant Chamber, Kalos (Day)
"Use Shadow Ball!" Diantha told Gardevoir. The Embrace Pokemon gathered dark energy between it's palms and formed it into a sphere before lobbing it at it's opponent. The attack struck Aegislash, knocking the Royal Sword Pokemon out.
"Aegislash, return!" Dominic said, sending his Pokemon back into it's Poke Ball. "You did excellently. Take a long rest." The blonde turned his gaze to Diantha and Gardevoir. "It's down to you, old friend. Now let's win this, Charizard!" He threw his last Poke Ball, releasing the Flame Pokemon in all it's blazing glory.
"I've been waiting for this." the Champion said, smiling. "You caught my attention since the day we met in Lumiose City. I could just tell you would become a talented Trainer in the future. Now, I want to see just how strong your bond with Charizard is. Show me your power!" Diantha gripped the Mega Charm around her neck, causing both it and her Pokemon's Gardevoirite to glow in a bright pink light. When the light died down, Mega Gardevoir appeared.
Charizard turned around to face it's Trainer, then held up the brace on it's arm that held Charizardite Y. "Agreed. Let's do this." Dominic said with a smile, pressing two fingers to his Mega Glove. Strands of golden light burst from his Key Stone, merging with the light emanating from Charizard's Mega Stone. The light surrounded the Pokemon, and engulfed it in an orb of energy. The orb soon exploded, and Mega Charizard Y appeared from it. The Flame Pokemon roared, and the sunlight that peered through the stained glass window intensified. "Let's start this off by increasing our Attack power. Power-Up Punch!"
Charizard's fist started glowing orange as it took flight, speeding toward Gardevoir. Just before swinging, the Fairy-Type jumped out of the way.
"Don't let up! Keep using Power-Up Punch!" Dominic commanded. Charizard kept punching, but failed to land a hit each time. "That tears it. Fire Blast!" The Flame Pokemon reared it's head back, then shot a ball of flame at Gardevoir. Once again, the attack missed. "Air Slash!" Charizard's wings started glowing cyan. It then flapped them unrelentingly, shooting off crescent-shaped beams of energy.
"Use a flurry of Shadow Balls." Gardevoir used the Ghost-Type Move again, this time launching a barrage of them at Charizard. The Flame Pokemon flew up to evade the attack, but was shot down by one that it failed to dodge in time. It crashed to the ground, taking a bit of damage from the fall. "And now, Moonblast!" A white light surrounded Gardevoir as a ball of pink energy formed in front of it. The energy ball shot at Charizard, exploding when it made contact with the Pokemon's scales.
"Can you still move?" Dominic asked his partner, who stood up proudly and roared loudly while breathing a stream of fire. "Good to know. Now, strike back with Fire Blast!" Enraged, Charizard shot out a ball of flame at Gardevoir that only barely missed the elegant Pokemon, striking the ground with explosive force and making a large plume of smoke that blinded Gardevoir. "Quick, Power-Up Punch!" With it's fist glowing orange again, Charizard sped at it's opponent and finally managed to land a hit. "Yes!" Dominic exclaimed, watching a red aura appear around his partner, signifying the stat boost.
"That was clever, using Fire Blast to shroud Charizard's Power-Up Punch." Diantha said, praising the boy and his partner's strategy.
"You haven't seen anything yet. Power-Up Punch again!" Roaring, Charizard flew upward before nosediving at Gardevoir with it's fist glowing orange.
"Psychic!" Diantha called out. Gardevoir's eyes began glowing blue as a field of energy surrounded Charizard, sending it plummeting into the ground. However, it managed to break through the attack before hitting the battlefield. This feat of strength surprised Diantha and Gardevoir, making them a second too late to defend against Power-Up Punch.
"Keep up the assault with Earthquake!" Charizard stomped the ground, causing waves of energy to spread across the arena. Thanks to the extra Attack power given from Power-Up Punch, the Ground-Type Move was far more aggressive than ever before. Stone shards jutted out from the floor, forced out of the earth from the overwhelming amount of sheer power the Flame Pokemon had. The shockwaves landed a hit on Gardevoir, launching it into the air. "Follow up with Air Slash!" Wind swirled around Charizard as it flapped it's wings, sending off dozens of attacks at once.
"Use Psychic to defend!" Gardevoir expanded it's psychic field, stopping Air Slash from landing. It then shot the Air Slash back at Charizard, striking the Pokemon with it's own Move.
"Power-Up Punch, once again!" Infuriated, Charizard became a blur of orange and blue as it sped toward it's opponent.
"Quick, use Reflect!" A barrier of light shielded Gardevoir a split-second before Charizard attacked, cutting the damage it would've taken in half. The result was Charizard being propelled back toward it's trainer, snarling.
"Fire Blast!" The Flame Pokemon reared it's head back once more, then shot an enormous ball of fire at Gardevoir. It struck, exploding with so much heat that it partially melted the arena floor. Since Reflect only worked against Physical Moves, it did nothing to protect Gardevoir from Fire Blast. It fell to the ground, reverting back to it's normal form.
Both Dominic and Charizard stood there in disbelief for a few seconds, their brains still processing what had just happened. "We did it." the blonde said. "We actually did it!" Charizard, also high off this victory, roared triumphantly while changing back into it's normal form. It then flew to it's trainer, giving the boy a bone-breaking hug. (That is, if he had bones in the first place.)
"Well done, both of you." Diantha said, sending Gardevoir back to it's Poke Ball. "You are now the strongest Trainer in all of Kalos."
Smiling, Dominic went into his Bag and retrieved several Max Revives. In a few minutes, his entire team was standing and/or floating by his side. "Thanks. But none of this could've happened without Charizard or the others. If anyone deserves the credit, it's them."
Diantha gave a small chuckle at this. "An admirable trait. That very selflessness may have been why Lysandre waited so long before battling you seriously." The woman then walked to the center of the arena. "If you would, there's one last thing you must do before you are officially Champion."
Nodding, Dominic sent his team back to their Poke Balls. He then stepped onto the platform with Diantha. The platform glowed before levitating, sending both Trainers to the floor above. When the ascent stopped, Dominic found himself in a hall made from black stone. All over the walls were pictures of various trainers and Pokemon. "What is this place?" he asked as he followed Diantha through the hall.
"This is where every Kalos Champion is recorded for eternity, remembering the valiant efforts they and their Pokemon made to get this far." the woman explained. "Some people call this the Pokemon Hall Of Fame."
"So, how do I record my Pokemon?" Dominic asked.
"Simply place their Poke Balls on this machine, and the rest will happen automatically." Diantha said, gesturing to a pedestal-like device at the back of the hall.
Dominic put each Poke Ball onto it, making the entire hall glow in a golden color as a new picture adorned the wall, detailing him and his team.
"Congratulations! You're now the Champion of Kalos!" Diantha said, proud of the boy.
He reached for Charizard's Poke Ball, smiling. "So, what next, partner?"
