*Had to update the tags as this story progresses. This has been a slight crossover since its inception, that all started with the idea of Bonnie and Toni as a ship and wondering how and why would Kol have to turn Bonnie into an upgraded Original.

A knock at Bonnie's door startled her. When she opened it there was no one standing there but when she looked down there was a manila envelope addressed to her in an elegant font.

"Dearest Bonnie,

Many apologies for the incident in the caves. Allow me to show my gratitude for your assistance in freeing me by extending this invitation to the formal ball I am hosting this evening. We have so much to discuss.

Esther Mikaelson"

"Esther Mikaelson. Great, is that another Original? Like Klaus and his siblings weren't enough," Bonnie grumbled aloud.

A town ball? Hosted by the Original Vampire family? Inside the last coffin was supposed to be the key to finally killing Klaus, once and for all. Now there was a new Mikaelson in town, throwing a party like it's 1599. There was a reason she'd dreamed prophetically about the coffin, there was a reason she was drawn to vampire business. Whatever it was, maybe this Esther could give her answers as to what to do about Klaus. Either that or she would die trying, taking them all out. It was decided then, she would attend the ball and see this through.

After confirming with Elena that they would both be in attendance at this Mikaleson ball, the duo headed into town to make a shopping trip. Bonnie's father was out of town as usual but she had his credit card. Bonnie picked a gorgeous satin deep maroon gown with a corseted waist that dipped low in the back and emphasized her form in all the right places before it flared out at the waist with chiffon skirting over the opaque one. She even bought Elena's black with gold accents ballroom beauty gown, thinking why not splurge? When was the last time she got to attend a fancy ball? From the looks of the invitation, she surmised it was to be quite the sophisticated shindig, dress code strictly enforced! Her dad would have to understand she's infiltrating a possible life or death situation if he saw the bill. She needed to look the part.

After purchasing the dresses, they met with Caroline at The Grille. They needed her on board in case the Salvatore's (who were nowhere on the guest list) went into overprotective bodyguard mode on Elena and disrupted the peace in front of all the townspeople in attendance. It was definitely their style, their usual fashion of protecting her or fighting over her. Always causing a scene.

Rebekah waltzed in with a tall, brown-haired teen who looked strangely familiar but Bonnie was sure she'd never seen him in her life. He looked to be near in age but his aura told Bonnie he was much older than that. He was ancient like Rebekah. Only his aura was almost warm and welcoming to Bonnie, whereas Rebekah's gave her alarm. He waited for Rebekah at the bar while she came over to chastise Elena. Who was he? Where did she know him from? He had that Original aura but there was something else to him, her witchy senses picked up on it immediately. She wondered if he could feel it too.

"Rebekah!" Elena hissed. "Klaus told you to stay away from me,"

Rebekah stared at her, clearly bored since the moment Elena spoke. "How bold and pathetic you are. Get over yourself, Elena. Not everything revolves around you."

Deep down, Bonnie was almost inclined to agree. She loved Elena but lately, everything seemed to revolve around her. There were other important people in their lives who kept getting hurt all in the name of protecting Elena. Elena, being a doppelgänger and the main cause of the vampire business that the Salvatores wrought upon the town. There was no way Elena would let Stefan go. And wherever Stefan went, Damon was never far away, seething and plotting how he could ruin the next person who looked at him sideways, no matter how much it hurt Stefan or Elena.

Damon, the bane of Bonnie's existence, ever since he set foot in this town. He turned her best friend into a vampire, he killed Jeremy on an angry whim, tormented Caroline, dug his fangs into Bonnie's carotid, killed his brother's best friend. Would Stefan really miss him if he was gone? Maybe after Bonnie dispatched the Originals, she'll get rid of Damon. Just maybe...

Bonnie shook her head of any further thoughts. Her eyes went back to the Original at the bar. She only had a side profile since he was turned towards the bar but she could see he was kind of cute, in a charming, boyish way. She sensed that's where his charm ended.

The baby Original rolled her eyes when she was done berating Elena and sauntered past the group, over to Matt. She looked like any shy school girl talking to her crush, just impeccably dressed in her iconic Chanel mini dress. It was weird to see an all-powerful Original Vampire acting so demurely.

"Ok, what the hell is thee Original Vampire Barbie doing talking to Matt?!" Caroline yelled in a whisper. They looked over to see Rebekah sliding an envelope into his hand. "And why the hell is she giving him an invitation to the ball!"

Elena and Bonnie exchanged looks. "Probably to get that reaction from you, Care." Elena said.

"And you shouldn't give her the satisfaction of letting her know it's working!" Bonnie hissed.

"Well, I definitely have to go now. She could kill him!" Caroline continued whisper-yelling. "She's probably compelling him!"

"Yes we need to protect Matt but Caroline, please. Dial down on the jealous ex-girlfriend act." Bonnie gave her a steely look. "It ain't classy."

Bonnie thought reminding her that Matt consumed vervain daily would add insult to the injury that was so prevalent on Care's face so she didn't address that part.

"Fine. Ok. Whatever." she breathed out a long sigh and reverted to a normal audio when she spoke next. "But Bonnie, will you be my date? Klaus invited me and there's no way I'm going with him. Plus Tyler would kill me." Caroline spoke now in a normal voice.

"Either way, Caroline," Elena began but Caroline cut her off.

"I know Elena, trust me. But I can't show up stag!" She cried.

"Of course. The more the merrier right? It's not like I have a date anyways, the men in this town are boring. No offense to Matt." Bonnie faked a pout and giggled.

Although it was issued in drollery for the better part of it, there was a seed of truth in Bonnie's statement. For Bonnie, the selection of men in this town was nothing short of disappointing. Aside from the fact they usually glossed over her and went for the doe-eyed girl next door Elena, or her more experienced bff blonde bombshell Caroline, they were also just plain boring, with an obvious lack of ambition. There was a reason Bonnie didn't have many dates, not that she didn't want to, just no one interested her enough. It was rare that anyone caught her fancy. That is, until-

She looked to the bar again and found her gaze locked onto the eyes of the boy who had walked in with Rebekah. Amber eyes met her verdant stare. He was staring at her with a soft intensity that was both exciting and unsettling. Shit! He felt it too! Her breath hitched slightly. Bonnie couldn't look away and they remained that way for what seemed like eons until Caroline snapped her to attention.

"Bonnie, what do you think?" She asked.

"About what?"

"Bon, where'd you go? Caroline was saying how she wants to set you up with her friend Aaron." Elena helped.

"He'll be at the ball tonight," Caroline added.

"Oh god, no Care, please. I just wanna focus on Esther tonight."

Caroline pouted. "Well if you change your mind,"

"I won't," Bonnie assured her. "But thanks. We should head out. It's going to take me forever to do my hair."

At that moment Bonnie's phone buzzed. A text message from her father had come through. Suffice to say, he found out about her little spending spree. "Shit, you guys I have to go. I think my dad might be back in town. Meet you at Care's place!"

Elena grimaced. "I hope he's not pissed."

"It'll be fine, see you guys in a bit."

Bonnie looked towards the bar as she got up to leave. The Original was gone. She looked around. Rebekah was gone too. When she got outside she looked around and there was no sign of them. She reached her car and looked up and down the street once. Weird, she thought as she got inside her car. It felt like she was being watched and if she was being honest, it creeped her out. She didn't see anyone around and she didn't sense the Original from the Grille.

Across the street and a ways down, a figure watched her get into her car and drive away.

Kol's POV

He had walked into The Grill with Rebekah with the intention to scope out the local blood supply. He wasn't planning on meeting his mate. But alas, as old as a vampire Kol was, today after a millennia toting around as an indestructible vampire, was the day that would be the first day of the rest of life.

Kol waited at the bar as Rebekah sauntered over to a table and insulted a very familiar-looking brunette.

Sitting next to her was someone else particularly familiar, a face he hadn't seen in over a millennium. A face he never thought his eyes would truly behold. It couldn't be! She had the same green eyes and sable locks cascading down her light caramel skin. He was aghast with a mix of horror and excitement. He thought back to when he first and last saw her.

As a human adolescent boy, he would get terrible migraines and he turned to his family's healer, as they called her to help alleviate his pains. His mother was a practicing novice witch but nothing she had tried worked, and Kol's own remedies were of no help either. Ayanna, the healer tried the usual route but it seemed no natural remedies would do the trick and she began using magical herbs and concoctions when Kol was around age fifteen. After the magic she wielded his migraines disappeared. Kol became intrigued about magic and continued to seek out Ayanna to practice magic with her.

Three years had passed and Kol was in the process of courting a girl for the first time. She was the younger sister of Tatia who was being courted by Elijah and Niklaus. Her name was Emelia and she was older than him by two years but they had been friends for a few years. She was a sweet friend and unlike her sister didn't seem the type to entertain more than one man at a time. He was confident she'd make a good wife and he was nearly done with his apprenticeship as a blacksmith. He'd be able to support them with a comfortable lifestyle, without any interference from his family.

He had just begun to contemplate proposing when he witnessed her in a compromising position with another man from his village. His anger and hurt over her betrayal forced him to confront his true feelings, that he didn't actually love her but out of familiarity and comfort he had figured he could have an easy life with her. Though they had been good friends, she had never understood his affinity for magic and considered it a waste of time. She had tried to sway him from practicing in the past year. Now that he knew she was just another strumpet like her sister, he no longer concerned himself with what she thought, nor did he want anything to do with her. This experience left him wondering if there was any woman he could trust. In his eyes, a pretty woman meant nothing but trouble.

Disillusioned and distraught, he visited Ayanna. She was someone he could trust. She had become a confidante and helped him hone his magic skills before Emelia pulled him away from his tutelage. At this point, he needed to feel connected to something and magic was all he had.

"Kol, how are you, my boy?"

Ayanna noticed right away that Kol was distraught.

"Come child, why the long face?"

"It's Emelia."

"What happened?"

"I'm a damned fool, that's what happened."

"Hush child, now sit down and tell me what happened with Emelia." She beckoned him to take a seat on a chair she pulled out for him. "Did she refuse your proposal?"

"I did not have a proper chance to propose before she wrapped herself around another man. That is not even the worst part."

"I already know. You did not love her, nor did you choose to marry her for love. That was your first mistake, my boy," Ayanna explained softly.

"It is my first heartbreak yet I was not in love with her. I do not know if I can believe in love anymore, I feel as though this is as close as I will ever come to love. She had no interest in magic and yet I was willing to-" Kol stopped talking as his voice broke.

"Oh, child. You are distraught and the day has been unkind to you."

"I need to know, Ayanna. Will love exist for me? Or am I to be doomed to long for women that are unfaithful strumpets? If that is the case, then I shall not marry, ever. It will bring out my father's temper, and strumpet as she may be, I can hardly fathom any woman deserves that. And I do not intend to marry for wealth or status."

His eyes implored her. She knew he was asking if there was a supernatural intervention to figure this out. She decided to help with whatever she could, she couldn't bear to see her most prized pupil so distressed. Ayanna regarded him slowly before she spoke wistfully.

"Listen to me carefully, boy. You are not your father. You are stubborn and strong-willed like him but that is where the similarities end. You are imbued with kindness and generosity and concerned with the well-being of others. You are also capable of love whereas that capability fails your father. I know of a spell that can show you what your love will be." she beckoned him to follow her. "Come, help me prepare the spell in the kitchen."

He helped her prepare the spell. They mixed up some herbs and spices together, added a drop of Kol's blood, mixed a potion, and ground the contents into a fine dust. Then she had Kol sit down on a soft rug in the main living area as Ayanna handed him the potion to drink. His vision grew hazy and Ayanna crouched in front of him and blew the prepared dust from her hand in one strong blow. She caught Kol as he fell over in a slumber, and laid him down gently.

Kol had a vision of a nameless green-eyed caramel beauty. It seemed like a dream but it became more intense, more vivid. It was as if he wasn't dreaming of her but existing with her in an out-of-body experience.

He tried to make sense of it by talking with Ayanna when he woke.

"I saw her! She was called to me excitedly trying to show me a spell. I woke as I felt her power manifesting. She wielded great power." He explained.

Ayanna nodded knowingly. "She is a witch. A powerful one. You shall get your little witch after all!"

She beamed at him, proudly.

Kol didn't believe it. The girl in his visions was beautiful but he didn't have much hope for relationships after seeing his parents and Emelia. He didn't think he could ever endeavor to fail such a seemingly sweet and kind beauty the way his father had failed his mother. Yet it had happened and he worried his relationships would be subject to the same doom. "I very much doubt that. I would not want to subject her to the same torture my father inflicts upon our family. Especially with Tatia being a possible addition to our family. She does not need the trollop sisters' influence."

"I told you, boy, you are nothing like your father. That vision was a soulmate vision. Fate will not fail you with that. To be courted and ultimately loved by you would be an honor for this girl, why she would hardly be able to refuse you with your kindness and lecherous handsomeness. Do you hear me?"

Kol had to grin at that. "In any event, is there any way of tracking her? I mean to properly introduce myself and determine whether I should begin courting her."

She tried to suppress a sly smile. "When the time is right, fate will bring you two together, and not a moment sooner, my sweet boy."

Kol pouted. "Come now, if she is to be my mate?"

The healer shook her head firmly. "It is but a glimpse and to help temper your distraught heart. Why if you were to meet her and declare her your soulmate, you shall frighten the poor girl and she would think you mad. You must let her come to the conclusion in her own time. Now," she gathered her skirts. "Will you bring me some wood for the hearth?"

Annoyed at the suspense of his mystery mate, Kol obliged Ayanna's request.

Kol seemed to have dreams of the girl from his soulmate vision every time there was a full moon for the next three months. Except they weren't dreams, they were the vision experiences he had, a recurring vision of the first one he had. He was even practicing magic again, spurning Emelia's efforts to talk to him and he was impressed with how great he was at magic. It came back to him like second nature. Kol loved that as his magic got stronger, he felt his soulmate's magic manifesting more powerfully with each vision he had. Still, all his visions began and ended the same until the last vision.

While he slumbered in transition, Kol experienced a vision of his mysterious mate, but this time it was different. She beckoned to him excitedly as usual, but she suddenly turned to him with the face of a beast. Black veins swirled underneath her eyes and sharp teeth protruded from her gums. She opened her mouth and snarled at him, baring fangs. He felt no magic, he just felt emptiness, death.

Kol snapped out of it as he woke and rushed to tell Ayanna. On the way to Ayanna's, he passed a villager woman carrying a water bucket. He smelled the blood from her splinter administered to her by the bucket and was immediately overcome with bloodlust. He attacked her and instinctively pierced her carotid artery with fangs he didn't realize he had, and drank of her blood until she became completely motionless. Catching his reflection in her nearly spilled water bucket, he saw the same demon face that his mystery soulmate had in his latest vision.

His magic was gone, in its place, a monster. It was gone, and it took her with it. He spent the next few centuries trying to satiate his loss of magic with violence and lust, never coming close to what he wanted to feel. He couldn't feel the magic flowing through him, he couldn't feel her anymore. Kol's visions of his one true mate never returned.

Kol's memories came flooding back, a face, a vision he hadn't seen in over a thousand years and it was truly amazing as it was overwhelming, being that it was accompanied by the pulse of her magic. He didn't expect to ever see her again in visions or even in person but there she was, before his eyes. So innocent and ignorant of all the things to come. There was so much she had yet to understand, but all in due time. Certainly not now when his dead heart threatened to jump out of his chest. Thankfully, Rebekah was done doing whatever the hell it was she'd dragged him along for and beckoned him to follow her out of the door.

"Was that the quarterback you invited?" Kol mused. He needed to get those shaky thoughts out of his mind for now and make sense of it later. Best way to keep his mind off things was annoying one of his siblings and baby sister was the easiest target, what with all her attention-seeking from the townspeople.

"Shut your mouth Kol, or I'll be forced to remind you that you'll have to compel yourself a date." Rebekah snapped as she covered her eyes with sunglasses as they walked down the street.

Kol simulated being deep in thought for a moment. "Well, I wouldn't compel such a commoner."

He laughed as Rebekah backhanded his arm.

Kol was making his way through the crowd in the ball when it hit him. He didn't know exactly what had hit him but he felt it just the same. Was it a feeling? Someone's aura? Maybe a pulling or compelling to find the source of this entity, maybe. He didn't know if this feeling, this energy was good or bad, just that it was called to him the way his bloodlust did when his hunger was insatiable. This usually preceded a slaughtering spree. But what if it was her? He'd overheard her saying she'd be here tonight, something about dealing with his mother. But if it's her why did he not feel this earlier along with the power he felt from her?

The Original was on the hunt, moving through the crowd in a gravitational pull. On the way, he was accosted by Mayor Lockwood, who spoke of peace between Mystic Falls and the Mikaelsons. He gave his fakest smile and agreement before a crystal blue-eyed toddler vamp came over to introduce himself with his own fake greeting and held out his hand. He went by the name of Damon Salvatore and was snubbed by Kol upon asking if they'd met prior to this night. The name Salvatore was slightly familiar but Kol cared not at all if they had previously met. He honestly couldn't discern him from anyone in the sea of people he's met in his long existence, a fact which he didn't hesitate to disclose to the younger vampire.

Mayor Lockwood held a tight smile and excused herself to speak to Damon in private.

At the main entrance, a very familiar and dull sight in the form of a brunette doppelwhore waltzed in and Kol sighed at the prospect of history repeating itself again. Ahh yes, the ever insufferable Petrova doppelgänger. It's like nature was trying to correct itself with a newer copy of her that failed each time. He was sick of that face since the first version of her drove a wedge between his brothers, if he was being honest. As for history repeating itself, the two men, one of whom was the utterly forgettable Damon Salvabore, that rushed to her side to escort her into the ballroom was evidence of that. Kol presumed the men were the Salvatore brothers drooling over the same sort of indecisive harlot that was the doppelgänger. Part of him wondered if she had a younger sister who was just as slaggy as her ancestors so he could take pleasure in ruining her the way her duplicitous ancestor nearly did to Kol a millennium ago...

He shook his head free of those thoughts. It wasn't often he thought of that strumpet traitor but he couldn't see the doppelgänger's vexing face without thinking of Emelia, a thought that equally vexed him.

Interestingly enough, Kol wondered if that was the pull on him he felt this evening since doppelgänger blood was part of the magic his mother used to turn him and his siblings into what they are. He nixed the thought because although doppelgänger magic was potent, he couldn't be certain that was part of the pull. Speaking of the pull, he had to ascertain the root of this sorcery.

A memory suddenly dawned on him that he had witnessed her earlier with the girl from his vision. It had to be her! He saw her, now he could feel her. Very clearly a Bennett witch if she was involved in doppelgänger business. It made sense now, she said she wanted to focus on Esther tonight. She was here somewhere, he just needed to find her and figure out what they were up to. He reached the edge of the crowd only to run into his baby sister before he could slip into the hall.

"There's my favorite little older brother!" She exclaimed, too excitedly.

"Whatever you want Bekah, leave me out of it. I'm busy."

"Too busy to help your only baby sister kill her date?"

"The quarterback?" He laughed. "Do it yourself. Though I do suggest making a spectacle of it!" He added.

"I can't get into any more trouble with Mother, Kol. I know you don't care so why not help me out?"

"Are you daft sister? I said I'm busy." He snapped and walked past her, into the hall.

Rebekah rolled her eyes as he rushed off. "Asshole!" She said under her breath.

Moments later, the energy threatened to overwhelm him, when he heard a newly familiar angelic voice ringing through his ears. He found the voice as the pull became more magnetic.

"Matt, you need to get out of here. I've got a really bad feeling about being here." She was saying to the quarterback who'd escorted his sister. Her voice, even in her state of worry, had a melodic drip to it.

"Bonnie, I'm not leaving you here."

"I'll be fine Matt, Klaus isn't the first vampire I've taken down."

"Yeah but he's not just any vampire, he's an Original and a hybrid."

"Matt, it doesn't matter, you know I can at least incapacitate them if I need to. This is vampire business. Go."

The quarterback nodded and embraced her, told her to be safe, and turned on his heel to leave. There she was! As Matt's footsteps departed, Kol approached Bonnie, the lure wouldn't allow him to stay the distance any longer.

"Greetings little witch," Kol said, carefully. "You must be looking for me."

Bonnie's and Kol's POV

Bonnie just gaped at Kol, transfixed. She didn't exactly know him save for a brief glance earlier, yet he was so familiar and she knew he felt it too. And not just because he bore resemblance to his traitor of a brother Elijah, but because she was strangely drawn to him. He stared back, with a familiar smirk on his face.

"Why would I be looking for you? I don't even know you." She decided to play coy since he had cocky written all over his face.

At that he cocked his head and narrowed his eyes, studying her, taking in her features. She was more beautiful in person than he remembered in his vision.

"Don't you?"

"Who are you?" Bonnie demanded when that's all he said.

"I think you know who I am, darling."

"You're an Original."

"I'm Kol Mikaelson, an Original, yes. But more than that Bonnie, I've been expecting you." He had heard her first name earlier at the Grille. Not to mention Nik had been on about the teen witch, the double-dealing Bennett witch, the soon-to-be laying with the flowers Bonnie.

The magnetism she was feeling from an Original Vampire both intrigued and horrified Bonnie. She worked harder to keep her voice steady. "How do you know me? Are you following me?"

He heard her heart skip a beat. But she raised her chin up defiantly, determined not to show any fear. He could tell by the way her magic crackled at her fingertips, her magic was readying for a strike to ward off his potential attack. He had to stifle a laugh. He wasn't going to harm her, but she didn't know that yet and presented such a valiant front, his brave little witch.

Bonnie remembered just then that she'd seen him earlier at the restaurant.

"How do you know me?" The Original countered.

"I didn't say I knew you," Bonnie mumbled. "I just saw you earlier with Rebekah. You'll have to excuse me because I'm a little busy right now. And no Kol, I wasn't looking for you." She moved to leave but Kol stopped her.

"You have my word little witch, you're safe with me. This ball is meant to be a peace offering as my family resettles into town. As long as your friends stay in line you have nothing to fear. Besides," he sighed as he stroked her hair and fixed his amber, gold-flecked eyes on her green orbs. Her beauty was truly something to behold and being within her vicinity drove him nearly mad with desire. "I could never harm anyone as beautiful as you."

It was like electricity and a magnetic pull was coming through his fingers as they touched her hair. Bonnie felt all of his desire and yearning for her and she honestly didn't know where his want began and hers ended. It was all getting muddled together along with her boundaries and she seemed to consider this for a moment, but then she kept her resolve. She had to meet the Mikaelson matriarch shortly; she couldn't afford distractions. She twisted out of his reach.

"Your word doesn't mean shit to me, Kol. As far as I'm concerned, you're just as ruthless as Klaus and just as two-faced as Elijah. I've all but taken down Klaus, in case you haven't heard. And if you harm any of my friends, I'll take your whole family out."

"I don't care about your friends and I really don't care about the doppeltwit. You are right not to trust my brothers though, their vow of always and forever only serves them. A ball in the name of peace, I'm so sure." He added, rolling his eyes.

Of course the petition for peace was under false pretenses. It was more likely Klaus wanted to do unspeakable things as long as the town is well compensated to turn a blind eye. Clearly no surprise there. It seemed like Kol didn't trust his own brothers as far as he could throw them. Still, she didn't know enough about this Original to be sure.

"So you are following me? You spying on me for Klaus?"

He raised his brow.

"How did you know about my friend the doppelgänger?"

He laughed. "I saw you and your friends at the restaurant earlier, remember? It's the only one in town, it was hard to miss."

She blushed.

"And I know you saw me. You looked right at me." His gaze towered over Bonnie.

"Yeah well, it was almost nice meeting you. I'm leaving now." Heat was coursing through her from being so close to Kol and she had to get out of there. For some reason she was off her game being in such close proximity, so she aimed to put at least a couple of miles between them but a separate room would do for now. She still had to see Esther.

"What business do you have with my mother?"

"Is that why you were expecting me?" Bonnie taunted as she waved him off and turned around but he flashed in front of her.

"Never turn your back on a vampire," he insisted with dark eyes. She glared at him and hissed.

"I said I'm leaving."

"Bonnie," Kol grabbed her hands, gently but also firmly and a vision flashed of the two of them practicing spells together. Bonnie jerked away, dumbfounded.

Her knees trembled and she nearly fell over as Kol caught her from falling over. As he caught her, what could only be described as an electrifying feeling shot through them both, and with it a besiege of intense visions of them locked in an embrace in multiple scenarios. The feeling that came with it, oh my- was over in a flash as Kol released her from his grip, due to the overwhelming sensation it gave him.

"Did you feel that?" Bonnie asked when it was over. Her heart was racing with anticipation and her body physically hurt after breaking physical contact. It was as if the magic animating their respective bodies yearned for each other, and being apart just wouldn't do!

Kol just stared at her and leaned in closer to her. There was no need to answer when they both knew the answer. She threw her hands around his neck as he grabbed her waist and pulled her in closer for a kiss.

Bonnie gasped as Kol was thrown into the opposite wall before their lips could meet, or any subsequent visions could bombard them. Caroline appeared glaring at him and Elena had suddenly flashed to Bonnie's side.

The Original vampire grumbled a deep throaty growl at the intrusion of Bonnie's gal pals. He had half a mind to rip the doppelgänger's burdensome head from her shoulders but he figured his little witch would disapprove, seeing as how they appeared quite fond of each other.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Caroline shrieked.

Elena was examining Bonnie. "You ok Bon? We saw him accost you."

Hearing the Petrova copy's irksome voice reminded Kol of fighting cats, screeching in his ears. This compounded his growing rage. He decided he'd best keep his eyes trained on the face he'd come to memorize so well, no matter that it's been a millennium since he'd last gazed upon it, she still soothed him. She was transfixed in his stare as well and it helped to keep his usual homicidal nature at bay.

"I'm fine, I just.. Kol!" She reached for Kol. "What the hell was that? Are y- are you?" Bonnie stuttered, trying to make sense of what she just experienced.

He inched closer looking her deep in the eye in an almost compelling way. In the eyes of her friends it would appear he was actually compelling her. Except witches couldn't be compelled and they knew that.

"You can trust me, little witch," Kol said and he knew the moment he said it, she felt it and she believed him. But still, she carried on about her wretched friends.

"And my friends? Are they safe?"

"If you will it, they shall be."

Elena and Caroline chimed in.

"He's Klaus's brother, none of us can trust him."

"Bonnie! Are you crazy?"

Her friends both spoke at once.

"Elena, Caroline," she implored respectively. "please! Give me a minute, I'll catch up with you guys in a few minutes."

"Are you sure?" Asked Elena.

"He won't hurt me."

She nodded in assurance before Elena dragged off an audibly protesting Caroline.

"How did you know that I'm supposed to meet with your mother?" Bonnie said once they left.

"You haven't answered my question as to why you need to speak with Mother."

"Hell if I know, she wanted to meet with me! I didn't even want to come, but I needed to keep my friends safe from Klaus. And the rest of your family,"

Anger seared through Kol's body at how cruel fate was to him. Of course, the one person he truly and quite literally felt a spark with would be enemies with his brother. The witch appeared to hate vampires and he could not fault her for it, seeing as how hated his own vampirism when he first turned, being detached from his magic and her. The very young woman standing before him. Yet she was by default his natural enemy. This threatened to incite his rage again, and he knew he needed to touch her again, at least feel her in his arms to satiate the beast within. He didn't want her fearing him.

He reached for her but she recoiled, pulling her hands away. "Don't please. Just don't. It's too much right now. I have to go."

Anger boiled beneath his surface at her rejection as Bonnie sashayed up the hall.

"Mother's study is down the hall this way," Kol called after her.

Bonnie stomped back towards Kol and paused as she neared him. Fucking hell, she was trying to make an exit! She glared at the look of mirth on his face and mumbled a low thanks before she gathered her skirts and continued sashaying down the hall.

He couldn't help but chuckle at that, she was fucking adorable. "My pleasure darling."

Kol's POV

After she parted, Kol sighed in frustration. Being in the presence of his long-sought-after witch pleased him, but the displeasure came from her reaction to him. He expected her to go along with her overwhelming feelings as he was compelled to, yet she resisted. Likely due to her nature as a witch and hatred for the Mikaelson's, she spurned him, depriving them both of that feeling of home he hadn't felt in so long. It hurt and when Kol was in pain, it never fared well for anyone in his vicinity.

He needed an outlet for these troubling emotions he needed to unpack. He shuffled leisurely to the balcony and spied Rebekah's date, surprisingly still alive.
