Hello all. This is the sequel to "A Wolf's role" I'm not really following events too closely, since the story lines in this game are so complicated. I had to arrange things to serve my purposes. I actually have two possible directions for this...I'll decide as I go how events will flow. There will be some Varian/OC, along with other pairings, yet to be determined.

Enjoy!

Varian and Kenya walked up the ramp and onto the king's new flagship. The outside of the ship still had several sets of scaffolding, holding men working on the finishing touches to the hull. The ship had looked immense from a distance, but it was even more so up close.

"This is incredible." Kenya said, as they strolled up toward the bow of the ship. "The view from here is amazing."

Varian smiled down at her, pleased. He saw a few builders heading in his direction, but he waved them away before they could get too close. This wasn't the inspection the builders had been waiting for, this was purely show and tell for Kenya. He didn't want to be bothered by men looking to do their best to point out the impressiveness of their work.

"Trust me, the ship gets even more impressive." Varian held out his arm and Kenya took it. They then headed below deck. Varian figured they'd start at the bottom and work their way up. They saw everything without being bothered, once the builders onboard saw Varian was not alone. Everyone seemed to sense the king and his lady friend did not want to be disturbed.

"This is like an entire floating city." Kenya said, once they arrived as the king's personal chambers at the bow of the ship. "What's the longest you've ever lived on one of these ships?"

Varian chuckled, thinking back. "I'd say about 6 months. We could actually survive for over a year out at sea on this ship, if it was stocked properly. Saying it's a floating city is actually a fairly accurate assessment."

"Of course, if you're on this ship for that long, it also means you're probably sailing off to fight in a war, so you can't even really enjoy the ship or being out on the open ocean."

"Very true." Varian wrapped his arms around Kenya as she looked out the window to the view outside, kissing her on the temple. "And you probably wouldn't be with me, so the journey would definitely be less enjoyable."

Kenya laughed, turning in his arms so she was facing him, wrapping her arms around his neck. He was much taller than her, so Kenya had to stand on her toes slightly to truly look into Varian's eyes. Fortunately, he took a good portion of her weight in his arms, so she didn't get tired. He lifted her as if she weighed nothing at all. "I'm really enjoying this side of you, ya know?"

"What side?" Varian asked innocently, though he knew full well what she was talking about.

"The romantic, openly affectionate side of you. The side of you only I get to see."

Varian leaned in and kissed her quickly. "What's the point of courting the woman I'm rapidly falling in love with, if we can't both enjoy the process?"

"Indeed." Kenya agreed.

They kissed again, just lazily, the kiss not building any kind of passion. They were simply enjoying the simple act itself.

There was a knock on the door and Varian's head of security stepped in. "Your Majesty… oh, I'm sorry, your Majesty."

Varian was actually laughing, when he turned around to address the soldier. "It's quite alright, Rodrick. Please, come in." His soldiers weren't used to potentially walking in on an intimate situation when reporting to their king. He'd been alone for quite a long time.

Kenya smiled at Varian's reaction. There had been a time when he might have been angered by the intrusion, but his spirits were high enough now that he saw the humor in it.

"I didn't mean to disturb you. When the builders told me you were here, I didn't realize you weren't alone."

"I was giving Kenya the grand tour. I'll be over in a few days to do the official inspection."

"Of course, your Majesty." Rodrick said with a bow of his head. "We just received a message from Prophet Velen. The messenger implied a certain expediency."

Rodrick handed the message to Varian and bowed. "Again, I'm very sorry to interrupt." He left quickly.

Varian broke the seal and unrolled the message, reading it. "Interesting." He said quietly, more to himself than Kenya.

"What is it?" Kenya asked.

"Prophet Velen is requesting Anduin return to the Exodar. He doesn't specifically say why, but he seems adamant." He handed the message to Kenya.

"Velen never does anything without a good reason. Are you going to let him go?"

Varian remained quiet for a few moments. "Honestly, I don't want him to go. I'd love to keep him locked in Stormwind until he's grown up, but…" He chuckled. "...he's sometimes more mature than I am and you're correct, Velen wouldn't be making this request lightly. Anduin is fifteen, almost a man. He's old enough to make the choice for himself. He's growing up too damn quickly."

Kenya smiled sweetly at Varian, wrapping him in a hug. "Kids tend to do that, or so I've been told."

"He'll be excited to be going back. Actually, I think this would be a good opportunity for him to learn a thing or two about commanding a ship. Perhaps I'll have him sail over, rather than take a portal. It'll be a good experience for him to be out on his own."

Kenya chuckled amusingly.

"What?" Varian asked, looking down at Kenya.

"Not too long ago, you would have fought hard to keep Anduin here. Now, you're talking about him commanding his own ship and learning how to be on his own."

"Having you here has changed my view on some things. You'd be a fully trained druid by now, if your parents would have let you train when you were a child. Anduin has so much potential. I don't want to be the reason he doesn't live up to that potential." He wrapped his arms back around Kenya. "Thanks to you, I can now see that he can be both a king and a priest. I can also see that he needs this time, while I'm still alive, to find himself before he's forced to take on anymore responsibility to Stormwind."

He pulled her close and kissed her. "And, I'll have you around to distract me from my worry."

"Why, Varian Wrynn, I do believe you're enjoying yourself with our new found relationship."

Varian laughed hard and full. "I am and I plan to continue enjoying it for as long as you'll let me."

"I have no plans of stopping you anytime soon."

To Be Continued...

I find Varian and Kenya together very cute. I love writing it. Hope you like.
