I don't claim ownership over anything.

P.S Also, I won't be describing characters unless they're OCs or mainly involved. Sorry if that bothers anyone.

This story went tons of changes during its creation. From a Self Insert to AU. Ultimately, I'm proud of how it came together.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Ch.1:My Gift To You

"Hey." A young voice beckoned from the darkness. "Hey. Hey. Hey. HeyHeyHeyHeyHeyHeyHeyHeyHey….."

"SHUT UP!" He roared as he finally sat up from the ground.

However, he paused as the white room caught him off guard.

"Damn, you're awake." the young voice whined behind him. "Just when I was about to dump some water on you."

Turning around, he saw a child with black eyes and white hair.

"Nice to see you again, Evan Davison. Or should I call you, Nagi?" The child smirked softly. "My name is Ryuk, but you probably remember me as Death."

"Call me Nagi," He answered, chuckling softly.

"Something funny?" Ryuk tilted his head.

"It's nothing." Nagi shook his head. "I'm just surprised to be back here."

"That's it?" Ryuk raised his brow, before shrugging. "Whatever. To be honest, I'm a little surprised that you died again."

"I did everything I could," Nagi said, smiling. "I have no regrets."

"Is that so?" Ryuk frowned softly.

Nagi kept his smile, despite it being smaller.

"Yes. My second death could indeed have been averted, but I just couldn't do it," Nagi closed his eyes. "I lack the courage he possesses."

"Speaking of which," Death narrowed his eyes on Nagi. "Why did you give it to that boy? It doesn't belong there without you."

"Because he would make better use of it than I would have."

"Others would disagree. Saying he isn't worth such a gift." Ryuk said, noting how others viewed them.

"Then, they're idiots." Nagi countered, bravely. "The only reason they saw him that way was because they forced their views onto him and he had no choice, but to use it as a shield to hide his pain."

Ryuk smiled at him.

"He's changed since the last time he was here."

"Nothing is ever impossible," Nagi continued. "It's only impossible because people aren't willing to consider it possible."

"Okay, but we're getting off-topic," Ryuk said, catching his attention. "The device is the hand of someone who shouldn't have it. Mainly, because it isn't supposed to exist in their world."

"That's why I need a favor from you," He stated.

Ryuk grinned devilishly.

"Really? And why should I do anything for you?" Ryuk looked away. "I gave you a second chance and you wasted it. Now you think you can make a deal with me? Why?"

With a slight frown, Nagi let out a sigh.

"Because I know that you aren't the type to turn people down. You may be a God of Death, but your love for Life is rivaled by none. If you didn't care, then you wouldn't have sent me to that world at all. You could've sent me to the afterlife as the broken man that I used to be. Instead, I was granted a second chance to experience true happiness. As such, I am grateful to you for everything you've done."

Suddenly, he kneeled before Ryuk.

"It might be so pretentious of me." He pleaded. "But, please humor this foolish man one more time. I beg of you."

Silence filled the white room as Nagi continued to kneel, while Ryuk examined the man before him.

Instead of answering, he just let out a small chuckle.

"Why are you so determined about this?"

Nagi smiled as Ryuk smirked at him.

"Have you ever taken a chance on someone?" Nagi questioned him. "Even when others would not?"

"More times than I could count," Ryuk shook his head. "Anyway, let's get this show on the road."

With a snap of Ryuk's finger, the world turned black.

"Moroboshi? Did you hear me? Moroboshi?"

"Hmmm?"

Slowly opening his eyes, he shook his head as someone called out to him.

In front of him, his teacher stared intently at him. He was a burly man with short black hair and tanned skin. He wore a beige suit with a red tie and a pair of black slacks.

"Ataru Moroboshi?" The teacher repeated, finally catching his attention. "Are you listening?"

Ataru Moroboshi was a 17-year-old with dark brown eyes and hair wearing a black school uniform. Blinking, he realized the entire class was watching him, most glaring at him with disapproval.

"Not really, Onsen-sensei." He yawned, not bothered by Onsen's scowl.

"If you want to sleep, then wait until class is over." Onsen scolded, while some students snickered at Moroboshi. "Now then, as I was saying-"

Suddenly, Onsen was interrupted by the school bell. Trembling, their sensei could only watch as his students burst with life and acted like he wasn't even there.

"These kids," Onsen sighed, feeling older than he was.

Meanwhile, Ataru stretched his arms over his head and hummed softly as he felt a pleasant crack from his shoulders. As he brought his arms down, he found his attention drawn toward his left wrist.

It was a digital wristwatch with a white, green, and black color scheme. There were three green buttons on both sides of the watch. Its faceplate was black with two green stripes forming an hourglass.

Ataru was so focused on the watch that didn't notice someone coming on to him until they tapped his shoulder.

"Ataru?" A hand waved in his face. "Are you all there?"

Looking to the right, Ataru saw a short, skinny girl with short straight brown hair and black eyes. She usually wears a black sailor uniform.

"What is it, Shinobu?"

Raising her eyebrow, Shinobu crossed her arms as leaned closely to Ataru.

"Trying to kiss me? Not interested," Ataru leaned away from her.

"Firstly, I have a boyfriend and you know him. And seriously though, you'll never get a girlfriend with that attitude of yours," Shinobu scolded, much to his amusement.

"Does it look like I can afford the time to chase after girls?" Ataru asked while gathering his stuff. "Besides, most of these girls don't like Quirkless. It doesn't fit their style."

Rolling her eyes, she stepped aside and made her way out of the classroom with Ataru following behind.

As they moved through the hallways, they could hear people talking around them. The subject was old but still managed to attract plenty of attention.

"Omni can't be a single person."

"And why not?"

"Dude, there's like too many of them to be one person, each with their quirks. No quirk on earth can give someone multiple powers. At least to that extent."

"But if they are a group, then why haven't there been more sightings of them? You'd think that so many people would be able to work in pairs or be more spread out. Instead, they only appear one at a time. Doesn't that strike you as odd?"

"What strikes me is how you seem to forget that they have names! How can someone as badass as Four Arms also be as large as Cannonbolt?"

"Omni's quirk must be some type of advanced shapeshifting. I mean they all share the same crest!"

As usual, people were talking about Omni.

Are they a group of vigilantes or a single powerful vigilante?

How could one possess so many abilities or why haven't they been seen together?

Who could say?

"Hey, I heard Omni was sighted at the dock last night?" Another student said to her friends.

"Omni?"

"Well, they say it was Heatblast, but that's not all."

"Oh yeah. Then spill?" A male student demanded.

"Alright. The police saw Heatblast change into someone."

"For real?"

"Yeah, but they couldn't do anything because they turned into XLR8!"

"You sure that's what happened?" A female student raised her eyebrow.

"No idea, but if it did, then that would mean the rumors about Omni are true."

"That it's just one person?"

"Exactly. I bet Omni's good-looking. I mean someone who fights bad guys has to be hot. I mean, look at Best Jeanist!"

Ataru ignored the way Shinobu was looking at him.

"You know that looks suspicious. Maybe stop staring at me?" Ataru whispered, to which she grimaced.

"Someone saw you?" Shinobu hissed silently. "What the hell Baka?"

"Don't worry about it."

Noticing her glare, he sighed. "I recently discovered a new feature, that's it. I'll show it to you later."

"It better be enough to justify nearly exposing yourself."

Ataru let out a snigger.

"Trust me. Even if they saw me, they wouldn't even know it's me."

Shinobu scowled before looking away.

"I just don't like what you're doing. You're going to be caught eventually. Besides, it feels like you're overworking yourself." She paused when some students walked past, before continuing. "You're always sleeping during classes, and I'm worried that you're harming yourself."

"Better me than others," Ataru muttered. "You know that I have to do this."

"No," Shinobu countered, shaking her head. "I know you think you have to do this. To me, this is just you trying to atone for–."

"Miyake-san," Ataru whispered, coldly. "Don't go there, got it?"

She flinched at his tone before nodding shamefully.

Ataru sighed.

"Look I get what you mean, but I'm fine. It's just-" Ataru paused as his watch began to vibrate.

*Boom*

Suddenly, a distant explosion echoed from afar. Everyone went still as another erupted from a distance.

"What the hell?" A female student whispered, hugging another girl for comfort. "Was that a bomb?"

"HEY! EVERYBODY, LOOK!" Another student pointed at the window.

Rushing towards the nearest window, they watched as plumes of black smoke rose from the city as more explosions erupted.

Shinobu covered her mouth as the P.A system came to life and the principal voice rang out.

"Students, and Faculty of Tomobiki High School, this is your principal. I've just been informed that a villain is currently attacking Downtown. At this very moment, the police are intervening against the fugitive and evacuating citizens from the area. As a result, all students must return to their classrooms until the situation has settled. All faculty members should immediately take attendance and ensure that no students are missing."

As teachers started to guide their students back to the classrooms, Shinobu noticed someone was missing.

"Ataru." Shinobu thought, concerned as Onsen called out to his students.

Meanwhile, Ataru burst into the school's clocktower and quickly shut the door behind him.

Looking down at his watch, Ataru paused.

"I believe this will fit you more than me."

Ataru clenched his fist, hardening his resolve.

Pressing his fingers against the faceplate, a holographic circle materialized before his eyes. Scrolling through various icons, Ataru found his choice and pressed the faceplate with his index finger as a cylinder popped out.

Nodding to himself, Ataru slammed his hand onto the cylinder, forcing it down.

Suddenly, Ataru became enveloped by a flash of green energy, his body changing shape until the energy died away.

Where Ataru Moroboshi once stood, in his place was…

"Big Chill!" He called out in a ghostly tone.

With his wings spread out, Big Chill phased through the clock tower and flew towards the explosions.

Back in the classroom, Onsen was doing a headcount of his students until a student looked out the window.

Jumping out of his seat, he shouted, "HEY! LOOK AT SKY!"

Ignoring their sensei's pleas, the class made their way to the windows and saw Big Chill flying past them.

"Holy Crap! It's Omni!" A student said, shocked.

"Baka! That's Big Chill! He's a member of Omni!" Another replied, excitedly.

"Who Cares! Kick Their Asses, Dude!"

"Everyone! Return To Your Seats Immediately!" Onsen demanded, slamming down on his desk.

All the while, Shinobu kept her head down as everyone kept talking around her.

"Ataru no Baka," Shinobu whispered, chewing her lip. "Stay safe."

*Boom*

"AAAHHHH!" An officer cried out as she was thrown back by an explosion.

As she collided with a wall, she coughed out some blood and dropped to the ground.

Meanwhile, An extremely tall man walked past the injured cop. He looked almost like a skeleton with how emaciated his body was. His literal grey skin clashed with his pearly white grin that stretched his sunken cheeks. He wore a damaged black sweater and ripped jeans as his once white sneaker dripped with blood.

Looking ahead, the police had set up a large barricade as several SAT members kept their weapons trained on him.

With her megaphone, an officer shouted, "Androburst! This Is Tomiko Yoshihara Of The Tomobiki Police Department! Surrender Now Or We Will Be Forced To Use Lethal Force!"

The villain dubbed Androburst could only laugh at their pitiful joke.

"STOP!?" He repeated insanely, "I HAVEN'T EVEN BEGUN! THERE ARE STILL SO MANY TOYS THAT MUST PLAY WITH! LIKE YOU PEOPLE!"

Tomiko scowled as she went on her radio.

"What's the ETA on our backup?" She asked, fiercely.

"We got several Pro Heroes on their way, but they've gotten into some trouble. ETA's been pushed to 50 Minutes."

"Well, they better get their shit together quick because I don't think we can hold him back for that long," Tomiko growled darkly before readying her rifle.

Androburst grinned as his eyes glowed yellow.

Suddenly, a gust of cold air brushed past the police, while Androburst was frozen in an ice block.

"What?" Tomiko went wide-eyed as her fellow officers were equally surprised.

"Dude," They looked upwards as Big Chill floated above them. "People like him need to chill."

Recognizing the emblem, Tomiko felt some relief while the others reluctantly lowered their weapons. Big Chill landed between the barricade and the frozen villain as his wings folded into a poncho.

"Omni." Tomiko smiled softly.

"Big Chill." He corrected her, before noticing the lack of response coming from the police. "What's this? Not going to arrest me? I thought vigilantism was illegal?"

"After two years, I'll take my chances with you on our side. Whether it's legal or not." Tomiko admitted some of her men agreed with her.

Nodding, Big Chill turned his attention toward his captive.

"Who is this guy?"

She made her way towards Big Chill and explained, "This is Androburst, an E-Class villain. His quirk is called Combustion. He's able to generate explosions with his mind. He's wanted for several counts of manslaughter."

"You'd think that someone like him would've already been in prison." Big Chill said.

"The thing is…" Tomiko started before suddenly stopping.

"What's wrong?" Big Chill asked, only for him to hear it.

*Crack*

Almost immediately, Big Chill grabbed the officer and flew away from the ice block.

*Crack, Boom*

Suddenly the top of the ice block burst apart and the villain's head was freed.

Androburst scowled viciously at them before doubling his efforts to escape.

"Can he do that?" Big Chill inquired about Androburst, to which Tomiko growled silently.

"He shouldn't," Tomiko clarified as Big Chill placed her back at the barricade. "Much like how he shouldn't be here at all. Androburst was already in prison, but the guards reported him missing weeks ago."

Big Chill kept his focus on the villain before stating, "Tell me more later. For now, I'll handle him. I noticed some civilians were hiding nearby, so have your unit focus on them."

Tomiko nodded.

While she did that, Big Chill flew towards Androblast, who had finally broken free.

Noticing his approach, Androburst's eyes turned yellow.

Big Chill was hit with an explosion, sending him crashing to the ground.

Groaning, Big Chill rubbed his head and rose back up.

"Okay, Bomb-Boy." Big Chill rasped, cold air leaving his mouth. "Time to cool off."

"You won't stop me! I'm stronger! They said so!" The Madman shouted out as he triggered multiple explosions underneath his opponent. "DIE! HAHAHAHA!"

The result was a large cloud of dust as Androburst leered at his work.

Turning his attention towards the fleeing police, he prepared his quirk…

"You get heated quite easily, don't you?"

…Only to hear something from the cloud.

Looking back, Androburst received a fist between his eyes and felt a sudden jerk of his head. However, he managed to stay on his feet and gripped his face.

Shaking his head, the villain growled as Big Chill stood before him, unharmed.

"Luckily, I'm here to cool you off," Big Chill paused before sighing. "That's it. No more puns."

"How are you still alive!? My quirk is stronger than it ever was before! So, just die like the trash you are!" Androburst raged as his eyes turned yellow.

However, Big Chill became transparent as an explosion erupted behind him.

"What!?" He yelled in shock, taking a step back. "How did you…"

"Intangibility." Big Chill answered as he crossed his arm. "It's just something I can do. Nothing special."

Growling, the villain triggered another explosion, and then again after it failed.

"It doesn't matter how many times you try, it won't work." Big Chill stated, much to his opponent's rising fury.

"SHUT UP!" Androburst shouted as he kept trying to detonate the vigilante.

Deciding to end this, Big Chill suddenly took to the air.

Flying circles above Androburst, the villain continued to create explosions, only for him to outmaneuver or simply phase through them.

This process continued for several minutes, with each explosion becoming stronger than the last.

Until he felt a small migraine, he ignored it in favor of more explosions, but it just came back with a vengeance.

Gripping his head tightly, Androburst found himself unable to focus.

"Your quirk is strong, but it's pretty simple." Big Chill said, floating above him. "You can create explosions and control their intensity. Then, I thought back to you breaking out of the ice. With how you act, why didn't you blow Tomiko-chan and me while you freed yourself. And then, it hit me. You can't control what explodes, only what's in your line of sight. That's why your quirk didn't work once I became transparent. And from the look of you, it's clear you've reached your limits"

Androburst growled, trembling with rage.

"In the end, your quirk is no different than any other," Big Chill continued, as he prepared himself. "Quirks are just tools. What matters is how you use those tools. You can have all the power in the world and it won't mean squat without control."

"YOU BAST-AGGH!"

Before Androburst could finish, Big Chill dived towards him and landed a kick to his chest. Despite the pain, He manages to throw a punch at Big Chill, only for his fist to pass through him and become encased in ice.

"Did I forget to mention?" Big Chill teased as he grabbed his other hand. " I can combine my phasing and ice powers to freeze whatever passes through me."

Suddenly, ice began to spread to the villain's other hand. Taking advantage of the situation, Big Chill used ice breath and froze the lower half of his body. As the ice continued to spread, Androburst attempted to use his quirk, only for his migraine to worsen.

"Bastard! This was your plan all along!" Androburst snarled, as his torso became encased.

"Not really. The idea came to me after I proved my theory." Big Chill admitted. "Now then, it's time to put you on ice!"

"NOO! RELEASE ME! HE'D SAID I WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE. HE SAID-" Androburst roared until he was frozen solid.

For good this time.

Suddenly, a shadow appeared before Big Chill.

"Wow, Chilly! You sure know how to beat the bad guy, huh?"

Looking upwards, He found himself staring at a familiar face.

"Hawks." Big Chill frowned. "Why do I get the feeling that you've been here the whole time?"

"Must be imagining things, right?" Hawks chuckled, before noticing they were alone, barring the crook-pop. "Recently, I heard something interesting."

"What are you talking about?"

"A police raid near Tsukama Terminal in Shizuoka. It seems like someone hit the place before they could and they hit them quite well-done." Hawk said before narrowing his eyes. "However, the after-report mentioned there was someone who changed forms and evaded the police. It got the Commission's attention, so I thought I could kill two birds with one stone. So, is it true?"

Big Chill sighed, even though he was grinning on the inside.

"It's true."

Hawk was not expecting that kind of answer.

" Now, I will show you…" Big Chill proclaimed before pressing his emblem. "….my true form!

'ID Masking: Active'

As the green flash ended, a young man stood where Big Chill once stood.

He had short black hair and pure green eyes. He wore a hooded black coat with green edges with the same symbol as Big Chill's on the left chest. Underneath was a thin white jacket with green edges in front of a black long-sleeve shirt, with a pair of black boots with matching pants tucked inside.

Silence filled the air.

Then, Hawks sighed with disappointment.

"Disappointed?" Omni grinned.

"The fact you were so willing to change tells me that this is just another disguise."

"Of course it is. I know what your commission would do to vigilantes. Especially when they've caused trouble like me," Omni said before turning serious. "I was being serious. After two years, I thought it was time to put a face behind the group. To show everyone how strong Omni has become."

Hawks shrugged.

"Does that mean I don't have to try to remember all those codenames you have?"

Omni face-faulted, "That's what you got out of that?"

"Hey, you've like what? So many codenames? Who could remember all that?"

"I do," Omni declared. "They are me and I am them."

"...So is that a no or a yes?"

"Goddamn you Birdbrain," Omni looked back at Androburst before saying. "The police commissioner told me that this guy escaped from prison."

Landing beside Omni, Hawks examined the frozen villain before nodding.

"Michio Hori, also known as Androburst. He was sentenced to life in prison. However, the guards say he had escaped, but our investigators have different ideas." Hawks turned towards Omni. "Is he alright? Be trapped in there?"

"I bruise, not kill. Big Chill only froze his outsides, not the insides. He'll be fine for a few hours, but he'll need some soup once he thaws out." Omni stated sternly before returning to the issue. "Nevermind that, you mentioned investigators?"

Hawks nodded before saying, "There were no signs of structural damage within his cell. They checked surveillance cameras, and found that Michio-san made no actions, at least nothing beyond his usual sadism, towards escapes."

While he kept a casual expression, his voice was the opposite.

"However, they found a gap between the recordings."

"A gap?" Omni repeated, only for Hawks to wave him off.

"Nothing you need to worry about. Knowing you, you'll probably try to get involved." Hawk smirked at the vigilante. "If people see me talking to a wanted criminal, then that could ruin my reputation. So, get out of here?"

"Should the new No.3 Hero allow a wanted criminal escape?" Omni asked.

"Tomobiki doesn't have an official Hero Agency, and crime is usually low-level around here, so not many Heroes patrol around here." Hawks looked up at the clouds. "Officially, you're breaking the law by performing heroics without a license."

Lowering his head, Hawks hid his smile.

"However, Tomobiki needs someone to watch over it. As long as you don't abuse your powers or harm these people, then I won't bother you." Hawks waved him off. "Now get out of here before the other Heroes get here. I don't think they'll be as understanding as me."

Omni nodded before changing into XLR8.

"See ya."

With a sudden gust of wind, XLR8 suddenly vanished from his sight.

Neither realized that Hawks wasn't the only one who had been watching.

"So, that's the vigilante who's been causing so much trouble for the H.P.S.C." A sigh filled the air. "This will be interesting."

Wiping the sweat from his brow, Onsen kept glancing around his classroom.

"Ataru Moroboshi. Where are you?" He thought, fearing the worst.

Shinobu went through her smartphone aimlessly until she received a message.

With a long sigh, she allowed herself to finally relax.

Suddenly, the P.A system echoed through the halls.

"Attention. Students, and Faculty of Tomobiki High School. I have just received word from the Police Department. The situation has been resolved and the villain was defeated. The school-wide lockdown is officially over. However, I would like to use this time to make a special announcement. Tomorrow and Monday classes will be canceled. There are two reasons for this. The first is that Tomobiki High School shall be going through minor maintenance and thus the building will need to be vacant. The second reason is that a significant number of faculty members will be retiring or transferring, thus I'll be meeting with potential replacements. That will be all. Enjoy The Rest Of Your Day.

As students prepared to leave for a second time, their sensei noticed Shinobu and made his way toward her.

"Miyake-san," Onsen called out to her before asking, "Do you know where Moroboshi is? I can't seem to find him and I'm worried."

Quickly, Shinobu smiled and answered, "Don't worry, Onsen-sensei. He texted me, saying that he went to the school's clock tower."

"So he's safe?" Onsen reiterated, only to sigh as she nodded. "Good."

"If that's all, then I'd like to go. Ataru is waiting for me outside."

After they said their farewells, Shinobu hastily left the classroom. Once she reached the stairs, she rushed down them before finally reaching the ground floor and sprinting through the entrance. From there, Shinobu turned to the right and saw the school garden. As students passed her, she walked towards the garden, keeping an eye out for any stragglers. Suddenly, she heard a hissing noise and saw a hand waving to her from behind a tree.

Growling, she marched over to the tree until the hand was replaced with a face.

An unfamiliar face, she realized.

"I did mention they wouldn't know it's me, didn't I?" Omni said, before looking at his watch. "Omnitrix, Deactivate ID Masking."

'ID Masking: Inactive'

Omni was covered by a dim green glow before reverting to Ataru Moroboshi.

"What the heck?" Shinobu blurted out, glancing between him and the Omnitrix.

"Crazy, right?" Ataru smiled softly, before showing her the watch. "A few days ago, I was messing with the watch and managed to find this baby; ID Masking. It alters my appearance into looking completely different. I've been experimenting with it until this was the result."

Ataru quickly changed between Omni and himself.

"It doesn't have a time limit either. I can use the watch in either form." Ataru continued. "Last night's crime-stop was a trial run. And it was successful."

"So, that's what you meant by they wouldn't recognize you." Shinobu realized, but she frowned. "Are sure that's a good idea though? Once people realize that Omni is just one guy, they're going to question how it's possible. Also, the Commission will become determined towards your arrest, even more than they already are. Don't you agree, Ataru?"

"Of course I do." Ataru agreed, much to her surprise. "Despite that, I have to do this. Indeed, hiding behind the notion of a large group does well for me. However, that doesn't help Tomobiki. They expect Omni to be everywhere when in truth it's just me. By using this disguise, I'll be able to continue my vigilante work while hiding my true identity."

Ataru smiled brightly at her.

"Plus, I'll be able to rely on multiple transformations instead of sticking to a single form. That'll come in real handy, doncha think?"

Even though she didn't share his enthusiasm, Shinobu smiled anyway.

"He likes this, doesn't he?" Shinobu thought as she watched him grab his school bag. "I want to stop him, but whenever I try, I fold like a deck of cards. To him, this is all he has left. He won't stop because he's too stubborn to stop. At the very least…"

"Ataru," He turned at Shinobu's voice. "Let's hang out."

"Are you sure?" As she nodded, Ataru shrugged back. "Alright. How about my house, then?"

"That sounds perfect." Shinobu agreed.

"...I want him to realize that he's not alone."

"You might be Omni, but you have the worst luck possible."

"Shut up."

"It's just that baseball came out of nowhere and decked you."

"Shut up."

"I'm teasing you, Ataru." Shinobu giggled at his scowl.

"I'm glad that you find amusement in my crappy luck," Ataru said, sarcastically. "At least, it didn't leave a bruise."

"Your luck is not that bad." Shinobu lied, as she kept giggling.

"Young Man!"

They jumped as a loud shout echoed from behind them. Suddenly, a short bald monk appeared right in front of them.

"HOW THE HELL?!" They thought in shock.

Pointing at Ataru, the monk states, "Young man, you carry such a heavy burden. However, I fear that it will soon grow worse."

Ataru glanced at Shinobu before asking, "I'm sorry, but who are you?"

The monk gave a short bow.

"My apologies. My name is Sakuranbo."

"Cherry?" Shinobu and Ataru repeated, confused.

"Yes." Cherry answered before continuing, "I'm a traveling monk, but recently I've sensed strange energies surrounding this town. For some reason, these energies seem to gather around you, as though to swallow your very being."

Raising his brow, Ataru looked at his watch and realized the time.

"Crap! It's 6 pm. We should get moving before your curfew, Shinobu."

While Shinobu nodded, Cherry shouted, "Do Not Head That Way! Something Horrible Will Happen If You Do So!"

As Ataru shook his head, Shinobu couldn't help but clench her fist.

"Trouble is something I'm used to. So, tell me something I don't know."

They turned their backs to Cherry and began to walk away.

Tipping his hat, Cherry did exactly that.

"Your parents are in danger as we speak. Omni."

Stopping dead in his tracks, Ataru spun around at Cherry, while Shinobu turned pale.

"What did you just say?" Ataru muttered, eyes wide.

"If you are so adamant to take this path, then you should know about this at least," Cherry said blankly. "There will be many changes. Some good, some bad, some amazing, some tragic. In the end, it was you who chose to wield your weapon."

As the monk left them, a tense silence covered the two of them.

Suddenly, Ataru sprinted away with Shinobu calling out to him.

"Why? Why am I running?" Ataru gritted his teeth. "It's just some crazy monk. I'm mean, maybe he just guessed my identity with no proof. So, why am I scared?"

Deep down, he knew why, but he didn't want to accept the possibility.

As he neared his house, he suddenly felt a strange presence and skid to a stop.

"Ataru Moroboshi," A male voice spoke to him. "Official records declare you as Quirkless, but we both know that there's more to you than meets the eye."

Dressed in a black suit with a white dress shirt and black slacks, a pale man in his early 20s leaned against the gates of his house. His messy neck-length black hair and black eyes stared holes in Ataru's very soul.

"Who are you and what are you doing around here?" Ataru demanded, preparing himself.

"You fought well against Hori back there. Well, it wasn't a good battle." He continued, ignoring how tense Ataru had become. "The name you gave that creature was Big Chill, right? Cryokinesis, Intangibility, and Flight. What an interesting set of quirks you possess."

"Who are you?" Ataru stressed out. "Where are my parents?!"

" I have no name. However, my colleagues refer to me as Delta. As for your parents…"

Delta opened the gates before gesturing towards the front door.

"Come in and see for yourself."

Pushing him aside, Ataru rushed into his house. Once inside, he noticed his parents sitting on the stairs with another person in a black suit, who smiled at them. Wearing the same outfit as Delta, he appears to be in his early-50s with short grey hair and a well-trimmed mustache. Wearing a black fedora, he carried a black briefcase.

"Mom! Dad!"

They were quick to reach their son as Ataru hugged his mother.

Rikyu Moroboshi was a fairly tall man with tan skin and well-kempt black hair, wearing a blue yukata, black sandals, and a pair of glasses.

While Hazuki Moroboshi was about the same height as her son, her pale skin clashed with her dark brown hair tied in a low-hanging bun. She wore a light pink long-sleeve shirt with a deep magenta skirt.

"I already told you they were fine." Delta walked behind him, his arms crossed. "We don't have time for this."

"Now Delta," The black suit near the stairs waved Delta off. "After all we've put them through, it's understandable that they act this way."

"Tch." Delta looked away, annoyed. "Whatever."

"Apologies for my associate. My codename is Agent O. O for Omega."

Releasing his mother, Ataru scowled at Omega.

"Then, I'll ask you what I asked him. What are you doing here?"

With his hands behind his back, Omega smiled gently.

"Of course, but let's discuss this somewhere more comfortable. Wouldn't you agree, Mr. & Mrs. Moroboshi?"

His parents shared worried glances at each other before Hazuki reluctantly led them to the living room. To the Moroboshi family's shock, their chabudai had already been laid out with someone using their teapot to pour tea into their teacups.

The culprit was a woman in her mid-30s. Her blonde hair, which reached to her waist, was tied in a ponytail and her violet eyes were drawn to her current duty. Similar to the others, she wore a black suit with a matching skirt that went to her knees and a pair of black thigh-high boots.

To Hazuki, that didn't matter.

Someone was touching her tea set.

If there was anything Hazuki hated more than anything, it was using her stuff without her permission.

"Who The Hell Are You!?" Hazuki snapped, waving her arms as her family wisely took a step back. "And Who Gave You Permission To Touch My Tea Set!?"

"Huh," She looked at the housewife before mentioning, "Tea's ready, so you can have some if you want."

"...Did you even hear me?" Hazuki growled at her.

"Give up," Delta told her flatly. "Epsilon gets bored easily and she'll do whatever she can to keep herself entertained. Just be grateful that the only thing she did was make you tea and nothing else."

As much as Hazuki wanted to argue against it, her husband placed his hand on her shoulder and she was forced to concede.

Collapsing onto a cushion, she accepted the teacup and sampled the tea. A cloud formed over Hazuki as she considered Epsilon's tea superior to anything she could make. Sweat-dropping, Rikyu awkwardly rubbed his wife's back and comforted Hazuki as she mourned over her inferiority towards Epsilon.

Ignoring this, Ataru focused on Omega and Delta, who showed no discomfort. Omega chuckled at the scene while Delta rolled his eyes.

"Can we stay focused, please? We don't have much time." Delta sighed.

"That would be wise," Ataru agreed, narrowing his eyes. "Let's start with the biggest question. Who are you, people?"

"That's fair," Omega admitted before continuing. " I'd like to start by stating that we are not members of the Hero Public Safety Commission. So, you don't have to worry about your identity being revealed, Omni. It would be better for all of us if your identity never saw the light of day."

"Right?" Ataru scowled, slamming his fist onto the table, "Cause knowing that you're not with them makes it so much better. Besides, I don't have a quirk, so what makes you people think that I'm Omni?"

"Do you think you can trick us at this point?" Delta scoffed, catching his attention. "The fact that your family has reacted the way we suspected means they're aware of your secret life. Am I wrong?"

Ataru growled at him, while his parents grimaced at the accusation.

"DNA Analysis," Epsilon said, catching their attention. "Particularly your blood. We acquired blood samples from your transformations after your several altercations with high-level criminals. I'll admit it wasn't easy, but over time I noticed slight similarities between different samples. This suggested that either originated from the same person or people with similar genetics, like a family."

The Moroboshi family could only watch as Epsilon sipped her tea before putting the cup down. Realizing they were staring at her, Epsilon leaned away from them.

"What?"

Omega coughed into his palm.

"To introduce ourselves, we are members of a secret organization that is responsible for monitoring and regulating extraterrestrial activities on Earth."

"Extraterrestrial?" Rikyu raised his brow, before scoffing. "You mean like aliens? That's ridiculous."

"Don't be so sure about that." Omega nodded at Epsilon, who placed her hands on her head.

Suddenly she took off her head, revealing a large scaly blue tendril with a bulbous orange eye at their ends.

While his parents recoiled at the sight, Ataru remained undaunted by the sight.

"Not surprised?" She said in a gibberish tone, her tendril looking directly at him.

"I've seen worse." Ataru shrugged while keeping eye contact with Epsilon.

"Interesting," Epsilon said before putting her head back on. "As you just saw, that wasn't a quirk since quirks are a biological function found in humans. Does that prove Omega's statement?"

"Pretty much," Ataru stated before his family could intervene. "So, what does that have to do with me?"

Omega briefly examined the family before saying. "Let me explain first. The reason we came here was to ask for your assistance in a major dilemma."

"Dilemma?" Ataru asked, leaning slightly.

"What he means is that there is a potential invasion," Delta stated bluntly. "Months ago, we were contacted by a planet light-years from our solar system."

"Oniboshi," Omega clarified.

"Oniboshi? You mean like Oni?" Ataru asked, to which he nodded.

"Earth has been visited by aliens long before humanity ever existed on this little rock. These encounters played a major role in Earth's mythology, specifically Japan." Omega shook his head. "Regardless, the Oni had attempted to invade our planet once, but they were forced back by a powerful hybrid known as Momotaro."

"You mean the boy from the folktales? That Momotaro." Hazuki asked, confused.

"What kind of human comes out of a peach?" Epsilon asked back.

"Moving on," Omega interrupted their talk before getting back on topic. "Their attack on Japan marked the first attempted invasion of the Earth in Universal history. Since then, they've left our peaceful little rock for centuries."

"Until now," Delta stated, narrowing his eyes.

"Exactly." Omega agreed before explaining. "The current ruler of Oniboshi wishes to conquer Earth. However, Earth has changed since the days of Momotaro. The Earth has become a neutral ground for all aliens. Our organization was created to keep it that way and we have many allies willing to fight by our side. Furthermore, humans have developed supernatural abilities of their own. And while I can say that technology and abilities are still inferior to theirs, their ruler is no fool. He realizes that launching an assault on Earth would make Oniboshi a target for retaliation by other planets."

"So, he decided to go a different route." Delta scowled. "And it worked."

"The Khokkans' Trail of Rights." Omega frowned as he explained. "It's like a dispute over ownership, in this case, Earth. With a representative from both planets, the debate was held before a council of the most influential beings throughout the universe. The trial was going nowhere until last week, the Oni diplomat suggested an ultimatum under their law."

"Unfortunately, the council agreed on the idea." Epsilon continued for Omega. "A challenge between Oniboshi and Earth. If Earth wins, then the Oni will give up on their invasion and never return. I don't think we need to tell you what happens if they win, do I?"

Ataru nodded silently while his parents trembled in realization.

"Now then, the reason we're telling you all of this," Omega kept his eyes on Ataru. "We would like for you to be our champion."

"In other words, you want Ataru to go against these Oni," Hazuki said, darting glances at her son.

"That's exactly what I'm saying, Mrs. Moroboshi," Omega admitted, much to her dismay. "Since his appearance as Omni, your son has shown extreme versatility. Since Omni's a vigilante, he isn't bound by the same guidelines as most Pro Heroes are. Lastly, our organization is a classified secret, and having someone like All Might or Endeavor aware of its existence causes trouble for us and our neighbors."

"I highly doubt they would keep our organization a secret." Delta said, "Especially to H.P.S.C."

"And what makes you think we'll allow you to take our son away." Hazuki scowled, as Rikyu crossed his arms.

"If you disagree, then you shouldn't have allowed your son to engage in vigilantism in the first place." Delta retorted back.

The married couple looked bothered by that.

"They tried to."

The agents looked at Ataru.

"They tried everything they could to stop me, but it was my choice to become Omni."

"What happened to the I'm not Omni bit," Delta asked, sarcastically.

Ataru narrowed his eyes.

"Just like how this is my choice." Looking back at Omega, Ataru nodded. "And I accept."

Impressed, Epsilon whistled while Delta raised his brow to him.

"If what you're saying is true, then I want to help."

"I understand." Omega placed the briefcase on the table and pulled out a folder. "This contains information on the Oni race. It would be best for you to study this thoroughly. We'll be back tomorrow to get you."

Ataru took the folder and left the room, leaving his parents upset over his decision.

"I'm surprised that neither of you is putting up a fight. Aren't you going to try and stop him?" Epsilon asked.

While Hazuki trembled silently, Rikyu sighed. Standing up, he made his way towards a small cabinet near the glass panel door. Opening the cabinet, Rikyu took out a picture frame before returning to the table.

"The truth is Ataru wasn't our only son. In truth, we had a pair of twins. Ataru was one of them and the other was…"

"Nagi," Hazuki muttered, her head facing down.

Rikyu nodded before he reluctantly gave the photo to Omega.

In the photo, Hazuki and Rikyu were holding each other closely while a pair of 10-year-old boys grinned as one of them did a peace symbol. While one child was Ataru, the other had pale skin like Hazuki with his black hair and eyes.

"Nagi Moroboshi," Rikyu smiled softly. "The strangest, but kindest boy you'll ever find on this side of the earth. To him, as someone had a heart and mind, nothing was impossible."

"Those two were inseparable. Day and night, we would always find them playing together, watching television together," Rikyu took his glasses off and wiped his eyes. "Just did everything together. Until they reached 11 and…"

As if possessed, Hazuki came to life with a burning rage.

"That bastard.." She hissed violently. "That literal piece of shit who…who…who…"

Suddenly, all fire in Hazuki was extinguished by her tears as she covered her face and sobbed heavily. Immediately, Rikyu went to his wife and hugged her, trying to comfort her despite their company.

"My baby…." Hazuki cried. "My sweet little Nagi."

Staring at his wife, Rikyu explained, "We came home one day and found police swarming our neighborhood. Once we rushed towards our home, we were met by the chief of police, who told us that one of our children had been killed. A Quirk supremacist had been hiding in Tomobiki."

"A quirk supremacist?" Epsilon whispered.

"A person who believes that people with powers are superior to those without powers, otherwise known as Quirkless," Delta whispered back. "The Quirkless have always been treated with extreme prejudice, especially in our current society. There are even radical groups against the Quirkless."

"Unlike Hazuki and I, Nagi and Ataru were born without quirks. As a result, they were often looked down upon by our neighbors. Bullies would try to pick on them, some of which may have been encouraged. Parents tell their children to steer clear from them. It was like the town was out to get them." Rikyu fumed silently. "Well, they finally got their wish. One of our former neighbors was in cahoots with the bastard and they found our kids playing with Miyake's daughter. I can't remember the details, does it matter when it ends with one of my boys dying?"

"I'm sorry for your loss." Omega bowed only for Rikyu to simply take back the photo.

"You weren't the one who took Nagi from us. So don't apologize."

"Excuse me?" Delta asked softly. "If you don't mind me asking, did Nagi's passing inspire Ataru to become a vigilante?"

Rikyu looked back at the photo.

"After the funeral, it was like everything changed. People stopped mistreating Ataru and gave us their condolences. To Ataru, it was like they thought he forgot what they did to them. What their bias had done to Nagi. In truth, the one who missed Nagi the most was Ataru. He would always be stuck in their room, crying. Praying for him to come back. The only piece of Nagi he had left was the watch he used to wear."

Taking a moment, Rikyu resumed, "One night during a major storm, we heard a strange scream coming from Ataru's room. We bolted from our bed and rushed toward his room. When we burst through the door, we found ourselves staring at some sort of black and green creature. Before I could do anything, it spoke to us."

Clenching his fist, Rikyu's eyes were hidden by shadows.

"The moment it spoke, we knew that it was Ataru."

The agents appeared fascinated by this discovery.

"We wanted to call a hospital, but the storm had damaged landlines and it was too dangerous to leave the house. So we had to wait out the storm before we could get help. After what felt like hours, we heard a beeping noise coming from Ataru and suddenly our little boy was back to normal."

"Was it hours?" Epsilon asked, to which he shrugged and Delta bonked her on the head. "Anyway, you must know what caused Ataru to change?"

"What would you do with that knowledge?"

Epsilon glanced at Hazuki. Her moist eyes bore holes into her body.

"What are you people planning with my son? Does it even matter to you people that he might die? I spend every day of my life fearing for his life, that one day he may not come back to me. No matter how much we try. No matter how much I try, he'll never stop endangering himself. I already lost one of my babies and I DO NOT want to lose another."

Glaring at the floor, Hazuki seethed, "But he won't stop. He's too much like me, like…"

Clenching her fist, she couldn't say it.

She didn't need to.

"I understand, ma'am. Usually, we wouldn't go this far. However, I felt that I had to involve you and your husband in this matter because he is your son. The life of a child always matters most in the eyes of a parent." Omega said as he stared at Hazuki. "I know it must be rough. Knowing that he's always out there, risking his life. However, he's doing this because he doesn't want others to suffer as your family had. I can see it in his eyes. A spirit capable of overcoming any obstacle. He's done well for the past two years and while I can't promise anything, I think he will continue to do well."

"Also, don't understand the M.I.B," Delta added, glaring mildly at her. "We have several contingencies in place should he refuse. So don't think we wouldn't make any in case he accepted. We may not act like it, but we are taking the situation very seriously and that includes your son's safety."

"So no matter what happens. Your son will come back to you alive. even if it starts a war with the Oni." Epsilon continued, completely serious.

"Please have faith in us as well as your son," Omega declared.

For what almost felt like an eternity, Hazuki looked flatly at them. They showed no weaknesses against her gleam. Rikyu glanced nervously between his wife and the agents.

Finally, she sighed.

"The watch did it," Hazuki said before adding, "but it wasn't a watch at all."

"Really?" Epsilon asked, to which they nodded.

"Before he changed, Ataru told us that something happened to his watch, that it started glowing green. He played away with it trying to turn it off, but it ended up with him changing to that creature. I think he calls it ``Upgrade."

"When we tried to examine it, we found that it wouldn't come off his wrist. We tried everything we could to remove it, but nothing worked." Rikyu continued for his wife. "Although we eventually caused it to…..speak?"

"Speak?" Epsilon muttered before realizing. "You mean like Artificial Intelligence?!"

"I don't know?" Rikyu muttered before shaking his head. "It hasn't spoken since that day."

"So it might be a limited A.I? A shame."

"Forget that," Delta scowled at Epsilon. "What did it say?"

"It called itself the Omnitrix. A device capable of altering its user into various creatures. Each with their abilities and weaknesses," Hazuki explained before grimacing. "Regardless, we forbade him from using that device ever again. However, it was a hopeless decision altogether. The thing only responds to Ataru and he refuses to remove it. It was all he had left of Nagi."

Looking back at the hallway, Hazuki continued. "It wasn't until he was fifteen when the mysterious vigilantes started popping around Tomobiki. Despite our wishes, it was obvious that he was using that damned thing. We wanted him to stop, but he wouldn't listen. He told us that he always hated Tomobiki, and hated everyone who abused him."

Suddenly, they were surprised by her smile.

"Despite all that, he didn't want vengeance. Ataru wanted to live by his brother's ideals. That anyone could save anything as they never give up. To Ataru, Omni wasn't some hero and he never saw himself as one. Omni is just someone who wants to help, regardless of how others may see it. Even if it was illegal, he'd break as many laws as he had to. As long as people were safe, then it didn't matter to him."

"It was that point that we realized that nothing we did would stop him," Rikyu said, showing a small ounce of pride. "If we kept trying, then we'd only push him away. It's not like we could tell anyone about it. The Hero Commission has made themselves clear about what they'll do if they ever manage to capture Omni."

"Understandable." Omega stood away from the table. "Well, it's getting late. We'll be going now."

"Finally," Delta sighed as he cracked his back.

"I would like to stay and ask more-"

"Nope." Delta interrupted dragging Epsilon away from the table. "We're leaving. Now."

As she was dragged away, Epsilon crossed her arms and pouted.

While those two left the house, Omega looked back at the Moroboshi couple.

"Although Delta had already mentioned this, I swear to you both that we will ensure Ataru's survival. As the current leader of the M.I.B Sixth Division, this I swear." Omega declared heavily.

"While that is comforting to hear…" Rikyu started.

"…it doesn't stop our worries, does it?" Hazuki sighed.

"It's natural for parents to worry about their children," Omega said.

However, he was confused when they both shared tired expressions.

"We never told what our quirks were, did we?" Hazuki smiled weakly. "My quirk is Recollection. It allows me to remember things with incredible clarity, to the point where I can't forget things."

"Mine is Feeling Detector. I can sense the emotions of anyone around me." Rikyu adjusted his glasses. "It's quite the quirk, you see?"

Omega could only nod, sympathetic towards them.

"I see," Omega said solemnly before bowing. "Good night to you all."

As they bowed in return and Omega left, Ataru was studying the folder thoroughly.

Preparing himself for tomorrow because…

Everything was about to change.
