AN: So I've been wanting to do a story like this for a while, but wasn't sure how to approach it. But I think I've come up with something that'll be a success!

Let's run you all through a brief summary of how this goes:

This is an SI/OC story! So yes, the main character is based off of myself. I'll be doing my best to make them as accurate as possible, although there will definitely be discrepancies.

Also, I will be setting this story solidly in the game universe, because I've seen only a couple episodes of the anime and two and a half of its movies. So I am not setting it in the anime world unlike almost every other SI story I've read.

As for the regions...I won't disclose that at this time, but I'll tell you now that there are going to be three of them. (Possibly four if Scarlet/Violet end up launching before I'm close to finishing this story.)

One last thing before we begin - I will be introducing other OC's in the story, as well as aiming for a 'realistic' Pokemon world. It could possibly even take it to nuzlocke levels, though I'm not positive on that at this time.

With that all out of the way, allow me to introduce you to "My New Life as a Unicorn!" (-o-)

When I woke up that morning, I immediately could tell something wasn't quite right.

After all, I had not fallen asleep on a forest floor.

Especially not one with giant glowing mushrooms.

As I woke up a bit more, I noticed that my body's proportions seemed messed up. Seeing as I had written a few TF fanfics, that immediately tipped me off that something must have happened to me in my sleep.

Therefore, I wasn't panicking like most probably would, and instead tried to figure out what I had turned into.

I glanced at my arm, and knew immediately my new species.

White velvety fur and a sparkly purple hoof, with a large 'sock' of fluffy purple and blue hair. Well, darn, it appeared I was now a Galarian Ponyta.

Was this because I liked unicorns!? Seriously!? Whatever did this to me, I was far more fond of dragons - couldn't I have turned into one of those instead? I would've been fine with any of them!

Wait, no, I would NEVER want to be a Goomy in my life. Let's rephrase: I would've loved to turn into any Dragon-type EXCEPT Goomy. There.

Not that it mattered now...

Glancing at my hooves, I sighed, realizing that I'd have to figure out how to walk on four legs now. I couldn't even hope to get onto two legs via evolution; Rapidash was equally quadrapedal. Hooray.

Hmm...let's see...

I slowly, very carefully, pulled myself up onto four legs. Imagining it as simply crawling yet keeping your legs straight helped, and when I stood up I was amazed at how strong I felt.

Well, that was astonishingly easy.

I wondered what level I was at. In the games you'd find them at around level 32-36, but since I had zero experience in the Pokemon world, I was probably level 1.

That was going to a problem...especially if some Trainer wanted to try their luck with me. I definitely did not want to be caught in a Pokeball on my first day in this world.

Or any day, for that matter. I had to figure out what happened to me, and fast, so I could return to my world. Since I was quite certain nothing had happened to kill me back home, I needed to find my way back there.

But how...?

Suddenly, my new ears perked up as some grass rustled behind me. I spun around to see a tall, dark pink humanoid with long spiky black hair, green legs, and a fang-filled smile. It looked directly at me and said, "Hello, little Ponyta. Are you lost?"

My mind ran through the basics of its Pokedex entry. Morgrem, Dark/Fairy, likes to trick people into coming close and stabbing them with its sharp hair.

In other words, NOPE!

I bolted, racing off into the underbrush. But I heard it whistle from behind me, and suddenly a bunch of pink humanoids with large purple tongues and big ears jumped out from hiding in front of me.

Ack, were they hiding under that pink mushroom the entire time!?

The Morgrem strode up towards me, his Impidimp goons flanking me from all sides. "Running ain't polite, little pony."

I considered my odds. Perhaps I could jump over one of the Impidimps...

He seemed to notice me trying to figure out how to escape. "Now, now, hold still. It would be a lot easier that way. We're gonna eat you either way-"

That was definitely not happening! I quickly leaped nimbly over one of the Impidimp's heads and ran as fast as my new legs could go. Behind me, I heard the Morgrem yell, "That's our supper! Keep it surrounded; we're not letting it get away! I'm starving!"

There was a lot of scurrying around me, so I ran even faster. What luck; being hunted for a meal just five minutes after waking up as a Pokemon!

Well, that was a sure sign things weren't as pretty as they were in the games. But that was already guaranteed.

I just hadn't expected to be thrust directly into it immediately.

Suddenly, a pulse of black energy appeared through the grass, striking me instantly. My mind was immediately wracked with pain, and I fell over with flailing limbs. My vision was dark, and I was stunned by just how powerful the attack was.

Dark. Four times effective against Psychic-types.

Yay, getting to learn of that firsthand. Awesome.

As I struggled to recover from the attack, the Morgrem appeared, grinning as if he was having the best time of his life.

"Guess what, little thing. No little Psychics escape MY forest.", he said, readying his claws for a final strike.

I struggled to get back to my feet, but my mind was still swimming from the Dark-type move. I could hardly think, let alone control a body I'd only just received.

But as the Morgrem slashed at me, I felt something bounce off my flank, and in a flash of light I was encapsulated in darkness.

I immediately panicked, but there was nothing I could do. There was a loud ding, and I felt my eyes close, just wanting to rest...(-o-)

I woke up on a soft, comfy surface, and I dimly wondered if everything had just been a dream.

But as I woke up more, I realized that I was definitely not in my bed.

The sheets I was on were pink, and bright lights shone from above. There was a large pink creature wearing a nurse's hat writing down notes next to my bed, and I realized it was a Chansey. One in the employment of a Pokemon Center too, it appeared.

There was a table near my bed with a Pokeball on it, and I put two-and-two together.

Although I was not dead (thank goodness), it was quite obvious I was now owned by a Pokemon Trainer.

Depending on the Trainer, that could be a much, much worse situation.

The Chansey noticed I was awake, and smiled. "Ah, good. You seem to have made a full recovery. That was a nasty Dark-type attack you must have been hit with, but that was no problem to take care of."

I struggled to my feet. "I've got to get out of here."

"Don't worry, your Trainer will be brought in here shortly.", the Chansey replied cheerfully.

On cue, a nervous young woman, wearing a simple pink sweater and black skirt, hurried in, accompanied by a middle-aged lady with curled pink hair and a white nurse's uniform. The young woman ran over to me, crying, "Yes! You're okay!"

She reached out a hand to touch me, but I backed away fearfully. People were so large compared to me now, and I knew nothing of who this person was!

She sighed. "I know, I know, you must be scared and confused. But I saw that Morgrem about to kill you, and I couldn't think of anything else I could do. But I caught you, chased that Pokemon off, and took you here to get healed."

She took a deep breath. "And if you're okay with it, I want to be your Trainer. I've always wanted a Pokemon, and the professor lives so far away, and I used my only Pokeball to catch you. But I don't want to hold you against your will, and if you don't want that, that's...okay..."

Well, she certainly seemed nice. And I did not want a repeat of that situation. There was also the possibility that I could get some answers going on an adventure with a Trainer, without fearing the possibility of getting caught or killed.

I noticed that she already looked resigned, so I quickly scurried over and nuzzled her hand.

Her eyes widened. "Wait, are you sure?"

When I nodded, she broke into a huge smile. "That's...that's so awesome! I promise I'll take good care of you and to take you on all my adventures! I'll make sure you will never regret this decision!"

Then she hugged me.

Although I was rather uncomfortable about that, I did not try to stop her.

After a few minutes of this, my new Trainer finally released me from her bear hug. She grabbed my Pokeball, then asked, "So, uh, should I return you to the ball, or-"

I shook my head. If I was going to be a Trainer's Pokemon, I was not going back into a Pokeball unless I absolutely had to. I'd rather stay out and admire the scenery.

"Okay then, that's fine.", she replied. She seemed to realize something. "Oh! I never told you my name! My name is Pearl."

Hmm, that was a bit unusual. But then again, this world had people named Red and Hop in it, so it wasn't actually all that strange.

The nurse said, "Hey, Pearl, you should probably sign out and check in with your grandmother. If you'll come to the desk..."

Pearl nodded. "Okay, I'll be coming in just a moment." She looked back at me, and, grinning, declared, "Our journey starts today!" (-o-)
