Simba and Vitani walked to the cave at the bottom of the Pride Rock tower. The rest of the pride was asleep.
"I'll go get my mother. wait here, Vitani."
Simba stepped inside the cave, while Vitani waited at it's entrance. She stared at the sky, wishing Mufasa would visit her like he visited Simba. His death, while tragic, was a reminder to outlanders and pridelanders that good deeds don't always produce good results. Her mother had convinced her that Scar's success in taking the throne was proof that treachery worked. But she refused to understand that his treachery against the hyenas led to his death. His refusal to leave the pridelands during the drought would have caused death of both the hyenas and lions.
What is troubling you my daughter?", and elderly and soothing voice said, catching Vitani's attention. She turned to face Sarabi, never getting tired of hearing ta affectionate endearment.
"Lately, I've been feeling jealous of Kovu and Kiara," the gruff yet beautiful lioness answered.
"When I was following my mother's cause, I never even thought of Romance. But since joining your pride, the more i see them acting all lovey dovey, the more I want my own mate."
"Theres nothing wrong with wanting a relationship or to search for a partner. I'm sure your sisters and brother would understand you leaving the pridelands," the mother of Simba reassured Vitani.
"I'm not just worried about how they will react. I'm worried about what will happen if I do leave. Will I find my own mate? Can I convince him to leave his land? Will I want to stay with him and not return here?"
"All genuine concerns to have Vitani and I wish that I could give you the perfect and proper solution or answer. But all I can say is you must do what you think is best. Also, sometimes you must put aside your worries and doubts take a leap of faith"
"Thank you…Mother," Vitani replied after hesitating a bit. This had been the first time she called Sarabi that and it made her feel very good, as it did the old lioness.
"Anytime, mtoto mpwenda(my beloved child, in Swahili)," Sarabi said and nuzzled Zira's daughter.
"Now Let's get some rest."
Vitani followed Sarabi into the cave.
