Hey all! I'm back with yet ANOTHER story, but this time this one is about our favorite Phenomenal wrestler :) Please lemme know what y'all think of it! It would be greatly appreciated!
I don't own anyone affiliated with the WWE...sadly cause when the theme says 'No they don't want none'...they be lyin'! Mama wants some of Mr. Styles, but I'm gonna leave it at that, lol. I only own Maddie, her father, Susie and the storyline.
Enjoy!
Maddie POV
Sitting quietly in the backseat of my Uber ride, I stare out the window of my ride at the endless fields of the outskirts of Gainesville, Georgia. Every mile or so there is the occasional herd of cattle and lone house with a barn on the wide expanse of property it sits on as I pass it.
I was born and raised here by the name of Madison Andrews, but the second I turned 18 I left for Florida and never looked back. I'm now 25 and am being forced to move back home because my fathers health has been going downhill and now needs assistance. Believe me when I say that I wasn't happy in the slightest bit when I learned that I was going to have to leave my life that I built in Florida behind.
And where is my mom you might ask? Sadly, one winter she caught the flu and it viciously attacked her immune system to the point of hospitalization. She was unable to fight and conquer, tragically ending her life much too soon. That was 5 years ago. She was my father's one true love…soul mate if you will…so he was never able to recover from her death. I'm all he has left, so I found that it was my obligation to come back home to aid and take care of him.
My ride finally makes it into town, not a large town I might add and while we are stopped at one of the few lights in town, a man walking down the sidewalk and into the local convenience store catches my eye. I can't seem to take my eyes off of him until he leaves my sight when he enters the store and disappears. I didn't get a good look at him, but the glance that I was able to catch of him…he was handsome. I'm sure with how small this town is, I'm bound to cross paths with him at some point.
The light turns green and about 2 more miles down the road a tiny dirt road is set off the beaten path and I have my driver turn down it. About another half mile down the path, sits small house…the house I grew up in…on a small patch of grass and is surrounded with nothing but flat land and not a neighbor for miles. It's how my parents liked it.
"Alright miss, here we are," my driver tells me and I thank him, grabbing my bags from the trunk and walk the small distance up the steps and onto the tiny front porch, in front of the white door that hasn't changed. The only difference of it appearance from the last time that I was here is that the paint is peeling, chipped and slowly withering away to nothing.
I ring the doorbell and about a minute later the door opens revealing my father. He's about 6'1 and has salt and pepper hair with brown eyes. The brown eyes I have that match his. My hair however, I got from my mother. Whereas my father has dirty blonde hair, my mother had dark brown hair and I'm glad to have inherited it from her.
"Maddie, my baby girl; it's so good to see you, sweetheart. Come in, come in," he greets, ushering me into the living room that hasn't changed one bit. It still has my mothers touch, except there is a thin layer of dust coating all of the surface's. I already know what one of the first things I'm going to be doing is…dusting.
"Hi daddy," I greet, giving him a hug after putting down my luggage. "How are you feeling? You look good," I comment him, speaking the truth, even though I can see the beginnings of him slowly becoming frail.
"Thank you; considering…I feel good," he tells me and I can't help but smile.
"I'm glad to hear that. I know it's still early, but have you eaten lunch yet? I'm starving," I announce and make my way into the kitchen. I open the cupboard to find practically nothing. I open the fridge and I am met with the same results. He walks into the kitchen behind me and I turn around to give him a disappointed look. "Dad, how are you even surviving? There is no food in the house!" I lightly scold him.
"Frozen dinners," he simply tells me and I shake my head at him.
"Oh daddy, I can't believe you. I gotta go to the supermarket now to get groceries. Do you have any meds that need to be picked up as well? I can grab them while I'm in town," I reply and grab the keys to his gray Silverado.
He watches me with a little bit of amusement, but I can see the embarrassed look grow on his face. "I do, actually. My blood pressure medication as well as my cholesterol medication," dad tells me and I nod my head in understanding. Grabbing my purse from where I put it on top of the couch when I walked in, I press a kiss to his cheek and leave the house. "Grab me some of those Little Debbie: Ding Dongs, please!" He yelled at me just as the door closes behind me. I shake my head at his request with a smile, but I decide that I'll grab them for him anyway. I'm only gonna have to hide them on him because if I don't, I know that he'll eat the whole box in one sitting.
I take the 15 minute journey into town and park the truck on a side street before making my way into the grocery store. I'm already dreading finding out how much this bill is going to be by the time I'm done.
Halfway through my shopping trip, I turn the corner to go down the chip and snack cake aisle. I'm looking down at the list I made on my phone and not paying attention to where I'm going, that when I look up, it's too late and I collide with a larger body. Gasping, I cry out loud and brace for the fall, but it doesn't happen. Strong hands grab my arms and pull me towards the body it's attached to. I look up into crystal clear blue eyes, short tousled dark brown hair, hidden by a baseball cap and a smile that immediately takes my breath away. Instantly, I somehow know it's the man I saw walking down the street earlier.
"Sorry about that, darlin'. Are you alright?" He asks and I internally swoon at his accent, silently nodding before his chuckle brings me back into the now.
Realizing I'm still being held against him, I quickly regain my composure and hastily step out of his hold. He drops his hands back down to his side and he flashes me a small apologetic smile.
"Y–yeah, I'm okay. I'm clumsy and just need to pay attention to where I'm walking. I apologize," I quietly reply and break eye contact with him before hightailing it away from him because I know if I don't…I'm not even going to entertain that idea. I just got here and I don't know who this man is. I'm not even looking for anything and I say that because of the look I saw on his face when his eyes landed on me. I don't even entertain the idea of looking back in his direction in fear that I'll find him looking at my retreating form.
I quickly grab the rest of the items on my list along with a few other things and make my way to the front to pay. Like I was afraid of, the bill was a scary amount and it made me realize that I'm going to have to find myself a job and fast. My next stop is the convenience store to pick up the medicine and on the window is a 'help wanted' sign. I quickly and excitedly enter the store, pick up my dad's medicine and ask for the person in charge.
"Hello dear, my name is Susie, I hear you're interested in filling in the position for a cashier?" She asks me and I nod my head eagerly with a smile.
"My name is Madison, but you can call me Maddie for short and I am. I just moved into town to take care of my father; he's not doing so well, so I'm going to be here for a while and I'm going to need a job. I'll take whatever you have available. My first job was as a cashier when I moved to Florida the moment I turned 18," I explain to Susie.
"I'm so sorry to hear about your father, who is he if you don't mind me asking?" Susie asks me with a sincere smile.
"Thank you, I appreciate it and his name is Ron Andrews," I answer and Susie's eyes light up.
"Oh Ron! Such a sweet man, but he can be so stubborn and hard headed sometimes," she shakes her head and I chuckle softly because of how she hit the nail on the head when it comes to my father, "I'm so sorry about your mother sweetheart, she was such a wonderful woman and loved by everyone here in this town," Susie tells me and I provide her with a sad smile.
"She was pretty amazing. I miss her everyday," I reply and Susie flashes me a smile.
"Oh that she was. But if you want the position, the job is yours sweetie," she tells me and a wide smile graces my face as I thank her profusely. "You're very welcome, my dear," Susie returns my smile and then her eyes leave mine and focus on something behind me. She keeps her smile, but she shakes her head in a motherly fashion. "Back again, Allen? Did you forget something?" She asks and I turn around to see who she is talking to. My eyes widen when I recognize it's my mystery guy and the man I bumped into in the grocery store His eyes trail over me from head to toe while his smile turns into a broadening smirk.
"Grocery girl," he says, his tone telling me he's pleased, but at the same time amused at running into me again. I'm too shocked to even say anything and it makes his smirk grow even bigger. "You know I don't like being called that, Miss Susie. You know I prefer being called AJ," he says, exasperation in his tone.
"You two know each other?" Susie asks, baffled at AJ's interaction towards me and I look over at her with still wide eyes and I shake my head negatively.
"Not really, no. We just kinda literally ran into each other at Missy's and I saved her from hitting the floor," AJ responds, never once taking his eyes off of me and I can feel his stare burning a hole into me and it's stirring up feelings inside of me I haven't felt in a while. And I mean a while.
Needing to get away from AJ and not because I want to, but because I desperately need to, I look back over at Susie, "I'd love to stay and chat some more, Susie, but I have cold items I need to get home. When did you want me to start?" I ask her.
"Can you start tomorrow morning? 8am?" Susie asks me and I nod my head with a smile.
"Absolutely; I'll see you then. Have a wonderful rest of your day," I address her and quickly acknowledge the man who has already stolen my attention. "AJ," I say timidly and rush out of the store.
AJ POV
Miss Susie replies, "you too, Maddie. See you in the morning, dear." Huh? Maddie? It definitely fits her. I like it. I watch Maddie as she bolts out the door without a second glance in my direction. I internally grin because I already know I have some sort of affect on the beauty.
"Allen Neal. I'm warning you now, you leave her alone or I will make your life harder than it is now," Miss Susie threatens me and I look over at her with a raised eyebrow. "Don't you look at me like that, young man. You just got out of a serious relationship with that little trollop who never deserved to have your attention to begin with. You were and are too good for her. You're still healing from that, no less. I know and you know you deserve better than what she did to you. Don't make that sweet girl your rebound," Miss Susie warns me in a motherly fashion.
I sigh and turn to look at her, hating that she had to bring up Jessica. I don't even wanna think about her. And yes, while Miss Susie is right that I am still healing after her infidelity after us being together for nearly 6 years, I can't help but feel that I'm moving on easier than I thought I would have been able to. "Miss Susie, you've known me almost my whole life, you know that's not me and that I'd never do that. I'm not going to lie though, something about her intrigues me. But please believe me when I say that I wouldn't do that to Maddie. I'm not that kind of person and I never will be. But that doesn't mean that I won't try and get to know her," I tell the woman who has practically been a mother to me fo as long as I've known her. Especially with being an only child with no parents.
One thing I really don't like talking about. My parents. I lost them both at the same time to a drunk driver one night 20 years ago. Lord knows where I'd be if it weren't for Miss Susie and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. She is my saving grace and I don't know what I'd do without her. "And I know that, just don't push it and do something you know you're going to regret. If you're truly interested…let it happen. Don't force it," she informs and I nod my head quietly.
"Yes ma'am," I reply quietly, grab the aspirin that I forgot to get earlier and trudge home in my old black beaten down ford truck, not being able to get that brown haired beauty by the name of Maddie out of my head.
