Jon and his honor guard were led to the throne room of Dragonstone with the Stone Drum tower. Jon remembered the lessons and stories Maester Luwin and Old Nan had taught him about Dragonstone and Aegon the Dragon. Somehow it didn't feel foreboding at all despite the fact that within a few moments he would come face to face with the Mad King's daughter, and Starks let alone the men didn't have a good track record with the Mad King's blood.
Before they reached the door, Jon opened his third eye to see past the stone, wood, and metal to peer for any threats, particularly in the throne room. He did not wish to end up like his grandfather and uncle, though he did not sense any danger and only sensed an honor guard and the men that were sent to escort his party. Soon enough the doors were opened and he and his men were led through. At least he and his men were allowed to remain armed as a show of good faith. Though it could be that the Mad King's daughter thought herself safe, surrounded by eunuch soldiers, some fat dark skinned man with what appeared to be hundreds of scars, Dothraki screamers & Bloodriders, and shadowed by one of the greatest living Knights, Ser Barristan the Bold. Jon did not know if he or Ser Brynden could best him yet given the tales they told about Ser Barristan's escape from King's Landing. Ghost was ever by his side. His men were formed into a hexagon around him, all were men known for their skill at arms and their prestigious Houses. Save Tormund that is. Tormund may not be the most diplomatic choice to bring but he was a skilled fighter as any man and it would do good to show that Northman or Free Folk won't bend the knee to another invader who knew nothing about the Great War to come or the First Men. The Free Folk wouldn't even bend their knee to him and they named him their King as well.
A dark skinned girl as slender as a spear spoke of the many titles that the Mad King's daughter had. They were even more than Tormund's styles, at least Tormund never claimed anything as grandiose as this Daenerys Targaryen. Though the title, "Supreme Queen", gave him wariness if was a true title rather than a bluff.
When the girl finally stopped, Jon gave a nod to the man on his left in front of him. A Knight clad in the colors of House Manderly and one of Lord Wyman's cousins.
Ser Michael Manderly spoke in return, "I present to you his grace, Jon of House Stark. By the grace of the Gods Old and New, the will of the late King, Robb Stark, and the Lords of the realm, The King in the North, the King of the Trident, The King of the Mountains of the Moon and the Vale of Arryn, and High King of the First Men. The White Wolf, The Sword in the Darkness, the chosen of the Gods, and liberator of the North".
Jon could see Tyrion smile before replying, "You have been quite busy Jon. Last time I saw you were a bastard boy about to swear your vows to the Night's Watch".
Jon replied, "Aye, much has happened. Mayhaps I will tell you one day".
The Silver haired woman who could only be Daenerys said, "Forgive me my lord, but I haven't had too much of a formal education, the last King in the North was Torrhen Stark who bent the knee to my ancestor Aegon the Conqueror in perpetuity, and if I am not mistaken, in perpetuity means forever. Thus, you remain a bastard and no true king".
She looked at Tyrion who simply said, "You are not mistaken, your grace".
Jon could feel the anger in those words from his Northmen, and his bronze and iron crown felt heavier than usual. He put on his Lord's face in order to contain his anger at the slight of his brother.
Jon said, "You are in fact mistaken, my brother Robb was the King in the North and Trident before I, and in his will named me a Stark and his heir if no son was born to him. Unfortunately your hand's father saw to that by poisoning the womb of my brother's queen". Jon paused to let the words hang in the air, "No wonder Tywin Lannister was such good friends with you father, they were both cruel monsters that enjoyed murdering Starks".
Daenerys' facade broke for a moment with those words, Jon could sense guilt, but something else. Jon's keen senses told him that Daenerys was pained by his words. Was this because it reminded her of her own murdered kin, or was this something else?
Daenerys said, "You have my deepest condolences, while your brother was a usurper, no man or woman deserves to have their children murdered before they could truly live. My own child was murdered in my womb by a maegi whom I had even saved. I would also like to extend my deepest apologies for the actions of my father. As Aegon the Conqueror earned his sobriquet, so did my father".
Jon said, "Thank you for the condolences, my brother and I were as close as brothers could be, and it saddens me that my brother was murdered and that he left behind no child that I can remember him by, no son to inherit his throne or a daughter that I could spoil as only an uncle can". He paused before continuing, "It will take more than just an apology to wipe out the crimes of your father. But what can atone for his crime and the taint he has placed on House Targaryen in the eyes of the North is for you to enter into an alliance with my kingdom to face an enemy far greater than Cersei Lannister and Euron Greyjoy. One that has no need of ships, food, or the living. The Long Night is coming again and so are the Others, the White Walkers. While I cannot speak on if they have ice spiders, they certainly command the dead as their thralls. Everything from men, women, and children, to the giants and mammoths".
He removed one of his gauntlets to reveal his burned hand, holding it high for all to see, and, "I burned and scarred my hand saving Lord Commander Mormont from a wight that had been raised from the corpse of a Black Brother by name of Jafer Flowers". He paused again to let the tension build, "Wights know no pain nor do they bleed, and so long as their bones can carry them they will keep seeking to kill for their masters. Common Castle forged steel cannot kill them, only fire and Valyrian steel can kill them for certain. Their masters on the other hand cannot be killed with common fire, only dragonglass or Valyrian steel can kill their masters. I cannot say if common steel strengthened with the black armament spirit can kill the Others as well".
The court of Daenerys Targaryen looked at him as if he was mad.
Finally Tyrion spoke up, "I had a foreboding feeling when I was at the Wall, but you cannot seriously think we will believe that an eight thousand year old fairy tale is true and coming again. Even your tale makes little sense, as while I can buy that dragonglass can kill their masters as according to the legends the Children of the Forrest gave aid to the First Men to drive them back, you cannot possibly know that Valyrian steel can slay them".
Jon replied, "But I can, I slew one on the shores of Hardhome with the Valyrian steel bastard sword, Longclaw, gifted to me by Lord Commander Mormont; and in the ancient tomes found in Castle Black's library, they speak that the Last Hero was gifted a blade of Dragonsteel to fight the Others with. The Asshai'i and followers of R'hollor speak of Azor Hai who wielded a burning sword that was anathema to the creatures of darkness. The Asshai'i claimed it was they who taught Valyrian shepherds to tame dragons, whether this is true or not, I cannot say. But it is clear to me with this new Long Night, the Blood of the Dragon and the Blood of the First Men must work together to beat back the Darkness"!
Jon let the words hang in the air and sink in, hoping his conviction would say them. He could have forced them into submission by unleashing his conqueror's spirit, but it would be a large gamble given the possibly the Targaryen royal may have the conqueror's spirit as well and he did not want to test Septon Barth's theory that in addition to improving vitality of the rider, a dragon improves their spirit as well. Or whether having Ghost with him could counter three dragons it came to a clash to determine who truly had the spirit of the Supreme King within them.
The fat man in silks whispered in Daenerys' ear and once he stepped away she spoke, "Your journey must have been taxing, my lord, perhaps you need some rest and then we can speak on the morrow when your wits are more well rested".
She spoke some commands in High Valyrian and another language which Jon did not recognize. The eunuch soldiers and Dorthraki moved toward him and his party. The eunuchs gripped their spears tighter as the Dothraki moved for their blades.
Jon instantly saw that she meant to imprison them as she believed them mad. Ghost bared his teeth in a silent growl. It was now or never. He reached deep inside himself and gave a single cold and hard stare as he said, "No".
A wave of energy roared out from him with bolts of black lighting cracking in pulses. The sound of countless direwolves howling and growling filled the air. The Dothraki and Unsullied collapsed instantly as did everyone else that was sworn to the dragon queen save Tyrion, her Bloodriders, Ser Barristan, and surprisingly enough the fat man dressed in silks.
Daenerys may have been slow to respond, but respond she did. Her own Conquer's spirit clashed with his. The bolts of black lighting now pulsed constantly. The air was heavy as each of them tried to assert their will over the other. The very island seemed to shake from the force of their wills clashing. Their wills were near equal. Jon could hear the roar of dragons being near equal to the sound of wolves. Though it was building in power.
Jon realized she was drawing power from more than just one of the dragons. Her will was encroaching on his will, driving it back. Jon could have been nervous that his gamble was not paying off. But fear is death, especially to those who wield the power of the Conquerors and Kings. A sudden heat appeared from his crown. It felt white hot, though surprisingly not unpleasant.
Jon saw the shadow of two dragon's head behind her. He figured that they represented a dragon she had ridden and one of the one she hatched. It was difficult to stand against the empowered Conqueror's spirit of a dragon rider. But Jon had to make his stand for his realm, the people who relied on him, and his family. He could not think about what fate awaited Sansa and Rickon, the last of his family.
As Daenerys' spirit was encroaching on him, he saw from the corner of his eye, shades made of ice and white fire burning next to him. Many had his and his lord father's face. Most wore crowns much like his own but a few didn't. He recognized some; Brandon the Builder, Brandon the Breaker, Theon the Hungry Wolf, Jon the Wolf's Shield, Rickard the Laughing Wolf, Brandon Ice-eyes, Rodrick Stark, The Old Man in the North Cregan, and even his father and brother were there. Amongst the legion of Stark Kings and Lords going back to the Dawn of Days there was only one woman amongst those shades. A woman who was beautiful, highborn, and kind. Out of all the shades, only she looked at him. For some reason he was filled with a sense of warmth, love, and strength; a kind he had never felt before. Shades of wolves appeared near most of them including Gray Wind. The chorus of howls and growls.
It pushed back Daenerys' own Conqueror's spirit. When the clash eventually subsided, those that still remained standing, had a look of pure shock. They had never expected a clash of this magnitude or for Daenerys to lose such a clash.
Jon looked into Daenerys Targaryen's eyes, to see what they gave away. Which spoke of surprise, confusion, and a look that he had only seen in the eyes of Ygritte and Val. A look that actually put him ill at ease as it brought up bad memories and guilt. Guilt for his first love and the woman he married and left to give birth without him.
Daenerys said, "Most impressive King Jon, I've never met someone with such a powerful spirit including my late lord husband, Khal Drogo. Perhaps there is more truth in your words than I had previously thought. I was wrong before, I do see the benefit of an alliance. I do not know about these White Walkers, but surely one with such a powerful and regal spirit cannot be mad or lying. We shall discuss and hammer out the finer details of the alliance on the morrow. You have the freedom of the castle including the maester's chamber and rookery in the Sea Dragon tower. I would suggest that you send a message to your Lords Bannermen indicating the success of your message and to keep them informed".
Jon replied, "I am glad we can come to an accord and I thank you for your hospitality, your grace".
With that Daenerys Targaryen declared the court closed for the day and ordered the few of her followers standing to summon aid for those who had collapsed. Jon led his honor guard to the Maester's chambers and rookery, he needed to report his success and his safety to his lords bannermen and family.
Author's Note: This was just meant as crackfic/rewritec one-shot(maybe) of the scene where Jon and Daenerys meet, but more in character and both possessing haki from One Piece. If people want me to continue, I will gladly do so as I have other ideas for situations where conqueror's haki could be used or awakened in ASOIAF/GOT.
