A.N Yes, I write more than just Pokémon. Anyway, this upload schedule will not be reliable whatsoever, because I still in school, and also, guess which idiot didn't learn his lesson and is trying to upload 2 stories at once. This Guuuuuuuy. Despite that, I'll try and update this whenever I can.
CHAPTER 1
Konoha Crushes
It was a time of great peace in the 5 great nations. The lands of Fire, Water, Lightning, Earth and Wind well all on exceptionally good terms, with the Five Kage meeting every year in the land of Iron to discuss trade and settlements. Truly, all was well. But, unbeknownst to everyone, someone was planning to tear that all down, and bring the Five Great Nations back into chaos. And it all started with a request for a few escorts.
It was the late evening, and a group of six people were heading back into Konoha after spending the night together. In the group were Naruto, Hinata, Shikamaru, Temari, Sai and Ino. They just returned from a triple date in the woods.
"That was fun!" Naruto proclaimed, stretching his arms behind his head, "We should do that again - ttebayo!" Ino looked in Hinata's direction and giggled silently. Even after being married to him for a year now, Hinata still swooned a little bit at Naruto's verbal tic. "Yes, we should," Sai agreed, nodding his head, "And perhaps we can convince Sakura and Sasuke to join us next time." "Those two haven't seen each other in months," Ino replied, "You can understand why they'd want to spend Sasuke's first evening back together." Sai nodded again and they continued on, holding each other's hand.
Temari noticed that Shikamaru was rather quiet throughout the walk. This was somewhat normal for him. Naruto was the hero of the Five Great Nations, meaning that someone could try to use him as a bargaining chip. Normally on these walks, Shikamaru would keep watch in case of an ambush or something like that. But this silence was different. Instead of a tactical silence that allowed him to listen out for attackers, this was a subdued silence. Temari glanced over at him and saw that he was lost in thought.
"Shikamaru!" Temari half-yelled, causing the young man to jump out of his skin. Unfortunately for him, everyone noticed and were all in stitches for the next five minutes, especially Temari. "Troublesome woman" he grumbled to himself. They resumed walking after that and Temari noticed that Shikamaru was fiddling with something in his pocket. But she didn't ask. It was most likely his old sensei's lighter. He'd taken to carrying it around a lot lately. Temari knew how much it meant to him, so she didn't tease him about it.
Eventually they arrived through the gates of Konoha. They headed towards the erea where they all lived, but Shikamaru stopped suddenly and held Temari back. "You go on ahead," he said to the others when they gave him questioning looks, "we'll catch up!" Everyone else shrugged and kept walking, but Naruto threw him a thumbs up and a supportive grin before following after his wife. Temari had just enough time to wonder why he did that, when Shikamaru led her away from the path and towards the hill they often cloud gazed on.
It was a clear night that night. Not a cloud in the sky, so you could see the moon and stars clearly. It was a beautiful night, Temari thought. Suddenly, her pulse quickened. Why was Shikamaru leading her away from the group and onto their hill. Was he going to ask? Temari kept her cool on the outside. She didn't want to worry Shikamaru. After all if he really was going to do what she thought he was, he'd clearly put a lot of thought into it, and she didn't want to ruin it by getting outwardly nervous.
Shikamaru led her to the top of the hill and stood there, holding her hand as he gazed at the sky for a few minutes. Temari noticed he looked really nervous. He was staring at the sky in order to calm himself down, Temari noted. She decided to do the same. The two of them stood there, staring at the sky. Eventually they progressed to their usual positions on the ground when they cloud watched, Shikamaru lying on his back with Temari snuggled up with her head on his chest and one of his arms wrapped around her.
They lay like thst for a good while before Shikamaru spoke up. "There's a reason I brought you here besides stargazing." "What?" Temari asked. She knew damn well what, but she knew he wanted to be the one to say it. Shikamaru moved to stand up, so Temari got off of him. Once the two of them were standing, Shikamaru awkwardly rubbed the back of his head and said, " I've been wondering for a while about if I should do this and when. But now, I've come to the decision that I want to do this. Now, I just need to know if you do." Temari's mind was racing. He's gonna do it, she panicked. And just as she thought, Shikamaru knelt down on one knee, pulled out a small box with a ring in it and asked, "Will you marry me, Temari?"
Temari stood there for a minute in stunned silence. She didn't know what to say. She loved Shikamaru and had considered tying the knot, but she couldn't help but feel that it was a little early. After roughly half a minute, Shikamaru stood back up. Oh no, Temari thought to herself, does he think my silence means no? But instead, Shikamaru said, "You don't have to give me your answer now. In fact, I won't bring it up again. Just let me know when you're ready, ok?" Relief flooded through Temari as Shikamaru said these words. "Thank you" she said, kissing him on the cheek. They stayed there for a few moments, looking up at the stars, before heading back down the hill.
That was one of the things Temari loved the most about Shikamaru. It was his desire to take things slow, meaning he understood Temari not wanting to rush into this too quickly. They parted ways outside of the building she wad staying in with her brothers. They shared a passionate kiss, before Shikamaru turned and left for his own home. Temari stared after him for a few moments, before heading into the building. She didn't say anything to her brothers about Shikamaru's proposal. She just bade them goodnight then headed off to bed, the ring still dancing round her mind
Come on, you all know where this is going. Sorry if that chapter was too short. I've got a whole plan for this story, but I somehow forgot to plan out a chapter one, so I made it up as I went along. I'll try to update the rest of this with my laptop, don't worry. But anyway, I'll see you soon with chapter 2
