It was so cold. My body was so heavy, and the light was blinding me. Was I blind? Why did it feel like I was laying on something hard? Wait, my eyes, I need to open my eyes.
Light bathed through the ceiling. Why was the roof riddled with so many holes? There was a hole alongside the opposite wall and steel was holding up the roof. That didn't matter for the moment. My throat was incredibly parched, making breathing a laborious task.
Struggling,I managed to stand. Dragging myself towards the wall, I spotted something with a red glow alongside the ground. It was shimmering, and upon closer inspection appeared to be some kind of tear shaped object once I got close.
Once I picked it up, I noticed that it had a metallic texture and the inside had a strange red liquid. I had no choice but to drink it. As the liquid passed through my mouth, and down my throat I could taste something metallic. Satisfied as the thirst was gone I dropped it to the ground.
Now done, I looked around the place, and spotted another of the objects laying near what I thought may have been blood staining the ground and wall. Picking it up, it turned out to be another of the same tears that managed to quench my thirst. I placed it in my left hand, and continued searching.
Unable to find anything else, I decided to walk towards a doorway I spotted alongside the wall. Lying near the door was a sword, most likely abandoned. I realized that the sword was incredibly heavy when I tried grabbing it off the ground. It would be difficult to swing unless I used both of my hands. It was best to use both of my hands.
I searched my body for something to hang the sword unto. I only managed to see what I was wearing. I was wearing a red shirt, and adorning my legs was a blue skirt, black leggings and brown shoes. There was a bandage on my left ankle that was coated in dried blood.. I seemed to not have had socks on. Looking at my arms showed a few deep scars.
With nothing to hold the blade, I ended up holding it in my hand. The blade was heavy so I allowed it to hang in my hand. I left the place through the door I had spotted earlier.
Once I made it, I recoiled in surprise. The sun was high, and I had to wait for my eyes to adjust. Looking around revealed the world to be in ruins. Buildings in various states of ruin dotted the area. It was as if the end of the world happened while I was asleep.
Turning to my left showed me something that chilled me to my core. A bipedal creature was walking through the area. I managed to spot its tusks, and the monster had a sharp beak like face. As it turned the corner towards me I managed to spot fur coming out from its center. A tail was hanging in the air, ending up flat at the end. It must have an incredibly strong swing if it can lift that tail so easily. I would need to avoid it.
I only just realized that it had been charging at me. I had no chance to get out of the way so I dropped the red tear-shaped object and held the sword in both hands. My left hand held the flat of the blade while my right was on the hilt. I skidded back a few inches as the thing bashed against the blade. If this continued, then my shoes would be ruined. I had no choice but to fight. Running would only get me killed.
It lunged again before I could come up with a plan, striking my blade once more. My shoes were starting to tear from the constant tension. Before it could lunge at me again, I swung the blade with both my arms. Managing to hit the creature on one of its tusks was chipped.
Realization dawned upon me when I noticed that the sword was stuck. I was unable to free the blade in time as it swung the blade alongside me. I landed a few feet away on the ground, the sword itself landed far off to my left.
The beast was running at me, and I rolled backwards before its maw could dig into me. Dragging myself to stand before it could strike again, I ran towards the blade. Instincts told me to roll forward, and I barely managed to dodge the monster.
Picking up the sword, I held it in both my hands, preparing to fight back. As I was about to strike at its exposed side, it swung its entire body in a circle. The tail from the monster hit the blade's edge and caused me to stumble back. Before I knew it the thing had managed to lung at me, and bite at my shoulder. Pain laced through me, causing me to yell out in pain.
Gritting my teeth, I thrust the sword deep into the monster's belly. This strike caused it to attempt to break free. Unwilling to let this chance go, I continued to force the blade through. The more it fought against the sword, the deeper it went in.
After several moments, it stopped moving. We both fell to the side. I was exhausted from just one fight, and my shoulder was in so much pain. I wanted to sleep, but knew that I needed to move. If one of these was tough to kill, then two would be able to kill me easily. The fight was tough against a single one of these.
As I struggled to stand, I noticed a mist coming out of the monster's body. The strange mist entered me and caused me to gasp as some cooling began to affect my arm. The wound began to stop bleeding, and a cold feeling overtook me. Whatever it did seemed to have stopped the blood from flowing anymore.
Walking towards the beast, I struggled to take out the blade. It was too deep inside, but before I could try again, the monster began to melt into the ground. Looking around, I spotted the teardrop was still intact. Placing it in my left hand once more, I picked a direction and moved towards it.
I had no idea where I was going but any place was better than here. The path I chose had a lot of places I could hide at least. Before I could really begin to figure out what was going on and how I woke up in an abandoned building, I needed a place to call home. This area was incredibly dangerous. If I used the sun as a guide then that means it rises in the west. Seeing as it was high into the sky I must be heading north.
I really hope I won't find another one of those monsters. I can barely handle one, and whatever the mist did to stop the pain and blood from flowing most likely won't help with any large wounds. It was better to hide. I didn't have any skill when it came to fighting and it was clear that I would die if anything bigger came after me. All I can hope for is that I manage to find people that can help me figure out what that thing was and why everything was destroyed.
Author's Notes: Edited the chapter. Been struggling with paying attention to my editing and writing of future chapters since I had gotten the vaccine four days ago. Hope you enjoy it. Gonna edit chapter 2 soon enough and chapter 3 is bound to be released in May.
Thanks to StarHammer for helping me with this and I promise to upload as quickly as possible.
