When did history begin?

When the Six Gods came to this land and blessed them with their knowledge?

No, they were just a mere in in the poem of time.

When the first Dragon Lord roamed the earth?

One may ask who created them? They couldn't came from nothing.

Or was it when Yggdrasil fell and created a new world?

Then there must be a world, or worlds before this.

Unfortunately, no one could answer that.

All we had were myths and legends.

But an opportunity came. And with it, the history of our age could be recorded.

The night always had something mysterious and majestic. Real or not.

One would praise Yggdrasil for how real it was, how challenging the game could be, or the design of numerous items and creatures.

Not many cared about the sky nor the scenery, especially when they were absorbed in the grind. He was like that too, but with time, he learned to slow down.

Looking at the stars, he wondered if one day he could see them again in real life. Light pollution and the cloudy sky blocked the view in the city. If he wanted to see it in the real world, he had to go to the countryside, which was out of the question, not with all of the work he had at the time.

He walked under the glass dome of the Grand Archive, the greatest archievement of his guild. Information had great values in Yggdrasil. 8 years, 8 bloody years to create this vault of knowledge. All of the books inside of the library were gathered with the blood and sweat of his guild and their alliances. Information was either found, bought or fought over. History of the game was recorded, as much as possible. Some even romanticized battles and events.

It was like a world to them, a world to discover, history and tales to be told.

And it was coming to an end.

The NC Defender was created as a small haven for new players of Yggdrasil. They protected them and guided. But it wasn't enough, many players, even the old ones, still struggled with the game. And the developers didn't even cared much about them either. Information on the internet was either too generic or muddy at best.

After the destruction of their guild weapon, NC Defenders was reformed into Lore Seekers. They started to document everything possible and made it their goal. With their effort, the Grand Archive was created. They reached out to other players, and gathered more information from them. After realizing the value of the Grand Archive, many decided to help the Lore Seekers or at least decided to not attack them. Others wanted the information for themselves and attacked the Lore Seekers.

8 years. Almost a decade spent to this world. And all of their hardship was about to be gone. Luckily, most of the archives was extracted out and spreaded on the internet. The tale of Yggdrasil will be an inspiration for many young and old game developers, writers and directors. Their hardship wasn't spent in vain, at least he hoped so. One of the guild member is going to publish her first novel inspired by the battle between their guild and Ainz Ooal Gown, and an anime studio contacted them for an interview.

All was well, at least he hoped so. He was the last one of his guild to stay in the game. Other had left some hours ago after the Farewell Party. Some stayed to had one last fight with some other players, but they had left too.

Only he and himself in the vast library.

He stood infront of the guild's most prized treasures.

The Yggdrasil's Wiki, the comprehensive book about the world and its lore.

The Guild Weapon. An object consisted of many cubes connected to each other.

And their last achievement, one last effort the guild made before the game ended. Their most prized World Item, the Book of Chaos.

He took the Yggdrasil's Wiki with him and climbed to the top of the Grand Archive. He gazed the stars on the sky, gentlely caressed the book in his metal hand.

The clock was ticking. Yggdrasil's end was near.
